Sleeping Beauty
Chapter 5: Love Me Tender
On the anniversary of Elizabeth Hummel's death, Noah was surprised to see Kurt by Quinn's bedside, and as he hands baby Elizabeth to Kurt he says, "I thought you would be at your mom's grave today?" Kurt just looked at Quinn as he said, "Mom's not there and Quinn 's still here. Besides, I haven't been much of a friend to you since this happened and I'm sorry. I mean my mom has been gone for years and me morning her is not fair to Carole. "
Then Kurt gets out some song sheets and says, "This is a song Dad used to sing to mom when she was in the hospital. I know it's not your style, but after you sang a long to Lady Gaga. I figured you wouldn't mind singing this. Plus, I hope it helps you heal." As Noah read over the lyrics of the song, Kurt could see the tears streaming down his cheeks. Noah just hugs Kurt before breaking down.
When Noah calms down he grabs his guitar and starts strumming the first few cords as Burt and the others walk into the room. Noah doesn't see them because his chair is turned facing Quinn and he is only focused on her. He doesn't even notice that some of the nursing staff came in with their cellphones recording the moment.
(Noah)
Love me tender,
Love me sweet,
Never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
And I love you so.
Love me tender,
Love me true,
All my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
And I always will.
Love me tender,
Love me long,
Take me to your heart.
For it's there that I belong,
And we'll never part.
Love me tender,
Love me true,
All my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
And I always will.
Love me tender,
Love me, dear,
Tell me you are mine.
I'll be yours through all the years,
Till the end of time.
Love me tender,
Love me true,
All my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
And I always will.
As Noah ends the song he hears sniffling and turns around to see Liza Marie in Burt's arms crying. Before he says, "Don't cry, Squirt. I know why you stopped coming to see Aunt Quinn and this is not God's fault. You know, I blamed him too and almost lost hope until Little Lizzie's birthday. You know what happened on that day?"
Liza Marie shakes her head no before Noah says, "I kissed Aunt Quinn and she kissed me back. I know she is not awake yet, but I know she will someday. God wouldn't let her live this long if he wasn't going to wake her up? We just got to have faith that he will wake her up. Okay?" As he says the last part he looks at Burt and Kurt as they try to hold back their tears.
Then Liza says, "God is a big meanie, Uncle Nono! He has had a fucking year to wake Auntie Queenie up! He has watched your heart break every day and has done nothing to mend it! I still have nightmares about that day and haven't slept in my room since! I left my storybook here because it hurt to read it! I'm afraid of you losing her like G' Pa Burt lost Nana Elizabeth! I know, G' Pa is with Nana Carole now, but I look up to Auntie Queenie, and want to be just like her! Who can I look up to now?"
Soon Noah motions for Burt to give Liza Marie to him, before saying, "You could have fooled me here. I thought Auntie Tana was your role model. You act just like her and she didn't always like girls. You know?" This makes Liza Marie glare at Noah before everybody started to laugh. Then Liza Marie looks at Quinn and everybody sees her smile for the first time in a year.
