The Human Child landed on one knee, weight dispersed near evenly throughout their body, making the landing impact a little less painful. Another fall like that would hurt just the same, but they were willing to do it again. Why were they coming down here? Not even they understood, they just knew that it was important.
Frisk hesitantly rose, a chill running up their spine. The ground around them was cracked, decayed over decades of neglect and disuse. There were large pieces around them, likely broken stone from a much larger project, another broken thing of this abandoned town.
They would quickly find that it was much more than just a little town.
"What do you think of this place so far, Frisk? It's a lot bigger than The Underground. And have you seen the names? "King's Pass"-'
They paused for a moment.
"Dirtmouth? They're so unique, much better than "New Home" and "The Ruins"'
Frisk made no attempt to respond as they continued, running their hand on one of the stones as they passed. The sweet smell had become more prominent, invading their senses ever so slightly, making them slightly irritated and Paranoid. After all, this place couldn't have died from nothing.
"... You nod your head, agreeing with the narrator-" This caused another death stare from Frisk, making Chara's non-existent heart stop. "Okay, okay, I'll stop. Not sorry though…"
Frisk would scoff if they could, continuing their walk to the center of Dirtmouth. Without a second thought, they passed by the shadows and buildings right to-
A small call stopped them once more. It was similar to "Hey", or "Hi!" or something. It made them stop, and look back to what they had originally thought to be "Just shadows". A dark, hunched over figure was there, as if they had appeared out of thin air. They had what appeared to be a shell on their back, and what could only be described as a white mask covering their face. Horns came up from their head, like roots reaching up for the sun. The being was staring at them, curious and slightly fearful.
A new enemy. Pitiful. Weak.
"... It is your choice. They are not in our way, and aren't trying to attack."
That was true. But they were also a being like the ones they had slaughtered earlier, they might be like Undyne. Become stronger in the future…
They approached, wooden sword trailing behind, carving a small crack through the ground. Elderbug watched them, eager to talk to these new allies. He had been alone for so long…

The little bug held who they now knew as Toriel's hand, allowing her to walk them through the first few puzzles. It was odd, they did not have to use their needles and nails to interact with objects, instead they could just use their hands. They didn't have to take out a single weapon throughout, and it made them nervous. They were attempting to calm themself, as all vessels should be, but something inside them couldn't bring themself to do that. They were scared, thanks to a new factor in them. The Void couldn't keep it from doing what it was made to do.
They tried to keep calm as they entered a long corridor, the difficulty increasing once Toriel suddenly stopped.
"My child…"
Their voice was different. That made them panic.
"You must walk to the end of this room on your own. I am sorry for this."
She let go of The Knight's hand, and rushed forwards. If only they could speak, they would reach out and call for them to come back. But now, all they could do was scramble after them. Soon the Goat Lady had vanished from sight, and the little one was all alone. They, not knowing what else to do, continued to run through the endless hall. The only thing that was showing they were making progress was the occasional change in the pattern of the cracks on the oddly colored walls. Eventually, they made it to the end of the room, urgently searching for the only guidance that they could count on. That's when Toriel revealed herself from behind one of the pillars.
"Do not fear, my chi-"
Before they could finish, The Little Knight ran to them, and grabbed onto their leg as if their life depended on it.
"My child… I am sorry. This was just a test, I see now that it was a bit… cruel. Do not worry, I will not leave you again. Come with me."
She reached down, allowing the child to grasp their hand once again. They were so small, and now shivering. So little could scare them before… And now, they were frightened by the smallest of things. Is this what others felt when they met their end by the Little Knight's nail? They understood much more now, only for more questions to blossom. They tried to answer these as Toriel lead them to the next room.
"Here… There are many monsters in the Underground, and some may not be kind to you. You must be prepared to distract others, and buy time until I am there to resolve the issue. You see, your form makes you look like a Human, Beings that locked us here, and took many things from us…"
She was speaking, but They didn't understand. Toriel just sighed.
"... You do not understand me. I will have to teach you how to speak our language… Wait, I know! Here, I want you to have this."
She took out a Cell Phone, and handed it to the Little Knight. They held it up as it powered on, and showed words… Though, they were also in another language.
"... Can you speak?"
She kneeled down to try and have them speak. The little knight, however, just stared at her. The Void in their hand slipped into a slit in the phone, and finally, they could read what it said.
Toriel- Call.
They hesitantly clicked the button, calling her. She pulled out her own phone.
"Little one… Well, I'm glad you understand how it works…"
Her usual speaking was warped through the speakers, mixing her words and making them understandable.
Finally, he could understand what they were saying!
They put the phone up to their face, listening to Toriel giving directions.
