Static placed his hands in his jean's front pockets as the two squirrels walked through the large park located in his neighborhood. Sandy pushed her children in a stroller while Static kept pace besides her. He took a deep breath while taking in their beautiful surroundings. However, he couldn't help but take a look at her every now and then.
"Is this what it's like to have a family?" He wondered to himself as he looked at her again.
Sandy glanced over at him catching him staring at her. "Are ya bored to death yet?" She teased purposefully bumping her shoulder into his.
"I'm good!" He smiled as he started looking around them at the lightly wooded area they had now stumbled upon.
"Is yer dad gonna be sore at ya for taking the day off?" She questioned as they continued their stroll.
"Nah. We didn't have anything going on today that would require me being there."
As much of a showoff as Static could be he never really gloated about his position in his father's company. Sure, it would be his someday, but the fact that he was being propped up by the work his father had done made him feel like less of a man. It didn't burn his ego enough to refuse the lucrative paycheck though.
"You haven't seen the office since we remodeled, have you?"
"Nope, but I'd imagine it's pretty nice considering that's the sorta thing y'all do." She bumped into his shoulder again and gave him a smile.
"I'll have to take you there later, so I can show you off." He smiled back while giving her a wink.
"Oh hush! We both know you just wanna show these cuties off." She placed her hand on her two young children's heads for a moment before gripping the strollers handles again.
"You found me out." He also rubbed the quills on her twin's heads as they made their way to a large pond in a clearing in the middle of the park.
When the group had finally made it up to the ponds shore, they came to a stop as Sandy fished out a thin blanket, from under the stroller, and laid it down on a slightly shaded grasses patch. Static attempted to help her by removing the children, one at a time, and handing them to her to lay down on the blanket. The two adults took a seat next to one another while joining her offspring.
"This is a nice change of scenery." She mused out loud as she propped the children up so they too could enjoy the sites this part of the park had to offer.
"It is pretty." Static agreed as he laid on his side and let the young boy prop himself up against his muscular toned stomach. "Nice to finally have a reason to enjoy it." He handed Wes a small toy which the boy immediately became entranced with.
"No harm in taking in the sights alone." She replied while attempted to get Tex as easy amused as her brother, but found the girl wanting to attempt to explore even with her limited mobility.
"A lot less beauty to take in alone." He smirked.
"Ya really are terrible, Static." She tossed her daughter's unwanted stuffed toy playfully in his face.
"Isn't that why you love me?" He bit his tongue trying to contain his excitement this latest round of flirting was filling him with.
Sandy amused look went serious for a moment before she looked away from him towards the pond. "Ya shouldn't say things like that." She looked back at him sadly.
"I didn't mean to upset you, Sandy. I'm sorry." Static propped himself up a bit as he became worried.
"I know yer just trying ta make me feel better, but I really don't deserve yer kind words. I'm not innocent in all of this." She shifted slightly as she became apparently more upset.
Static reached on and grabbed one of her hands. "Ok, how about I agree to stop telling you how wonderfully amazing you are, and you stop being down on yourself?" He squeezed her hand gently as he leaned his head on her knee. "Deal?"
Sandy let out an embarrassed laugh as she wiped away a lone tear. "Fine."
"I'll keep it strictly to just how plainly amazing you are." He laughed as she pushed his head off her lap.
"Yer such a pain." She scolded as her mood already started showing signs of improvement.
"Well, what do you think? Should this pain grill us up some stakes tonight?" He plopped his head back in her lap only to be met with Tex grabbing fistfuls of the fur on his face.
"I don't know. Are you going to use a real grill, or that pansy propane one?"
Static sat up and gave her an exaggerated look of shock. "I'll have you know that pansy propane grill is top of the line, and gives the most exquisite evenly cooking experience you can find on the market today!"
"It ain't grilling without charcoal." She disputed while sitting her now fussing daughter in her lap.
"I'll have you eat those words right after you eat my perfectly cooked stake." He leaned in towards her.
Sandy not being able to walk away from a fight leaned in towards him as well so they were almost rubbing noses. "Alright." She replied as he breathed in her hot breath. "Wow, me."
