Chapter 5
Couple of things I totally loved Blood and Guts it was a great throw back to the glory days of War Games. And a true war games not some elimination or win via pinfall stuff. Also really enjoyed The Jon Moxley and Yuji Nagata IWGP US title match. Anyway I hope you are enjoying this story. Thanks to those reading, extra thanks to anyone that review or puts me or the story on an alert list.
"He's going back to Japan?" Sonya asked as she and Mandy ate lunch together. "Yes but as he's made clear its not like he rejoined the New Japan roster. Its just a one time thing," Mandy says still trying to convince herself. "Yeah but isn't the Forbidden Door supposed to be open now," Sonya says. "The Forbidden Door doesn't mean trades are happening like it's the NFL," Mandy says. "So how is he going get through having to isolated?" Sonya asks. "Well he is vacated. So Riley is checking the laws to see if that will cut the time Japan requires down. But he is going to go nuts after a few days. I mean I know him so well. He will spend day one thinking he will be fine planning to workout a lot in the room, watch TV and stream wrestling. By day three I will get a text or e-mail about how nuts he's going. Than eventually he will get out go out in the country he loves. Wrestle a match with a hero of his and be all smiles," Mandy says.
The move onto other topics. Sonya is excited about her new story managing Charlotte Flair. Mandy was thrilled for friend. "How has Charlotte been to work with?" Mandy asks. "She still annoyed her boyfriend got let go during the last mass firing but otherwise fine. But you know how the fans are. There is a very vocal group that just don't want her pushed anymore," Sonya says. "Especially with the match time for women shrinking so much," Mandy says. "Trust me that is a big topic backstage right now," Sonya says. "Maybe I'll have some more friends join me at Daily's Place," Mandy says. "Hey don't joke about that," Sonya says. "Hey I know you are loyal to WWE…. Liv, Ruby, and Dana on the other hand," Mandy says with a coy smile.
Riley and Mandy's Home
Riley looked at his well worn passport. If you were a successful enough wrestler you collect a lot of stamps on a passport. He found the stamp from this first trip to Japan. It was to work a DDT show which had been the first time he had met Kenny. That gave him an idea. Putting down the passport he pulled out his phone. Finding the AEW Twitter he retweeted the picture of his tag match. Tagging Kenny and The Bucks he wrote. "phone number hasn't changed in five years." It didn't take long for the notifications to start rolling in. Of course there some dip shits that would get blocked. The other comments were split. Some fans calling for him to reunite with the rest of The Elite others actually wanting him to fight his friends. One comment suggested he should rejoin The Elite and go after the TNT title.
A few seconds later he got a notification from the Young Bucks account. He was tagged telling him to check the new bio. Checking it he had to chuckle. "Riley Morgan bud you always hated talking on the phone." Another notification came in it was Eddie Kingston replying. "Your family is about to toss you to the lions bro." "Eddie should have saved that line for a promo. Riley had to admit he was feeling a real excitement for the first time since his return from his last injury. His return to Japan had lifted his spirits and it was good to see real excitement about him teaming with Kenny again. Also helped Blood and Guts would be big show with a lot of eyes on it. Leaving his man cave area he headed for the kitchen to get some lunch. It was he was putting the mustard on the roast beef that an idea came to him.
Getting his phone he figured the best place to start was with Kenny. "What do you know your phone number hasn't changed," Kenny says when he answers the phone call. "Hey champ I got a hell of an idea," Riley says before explaining what he wants to do. "That might actually work," Kenny says. "So you would be okay with me pitching it to the guys and TK?" Riley asks. "Why would I have a problem you know I love stuff like this. Do I have to remind you how long I had people asking me what happened in that hotel room to see the story with Nick and Matt?" Kenny says. "And than what's in the box," Riley says recalling old things from Being The Elite.
"And this idea has perfect timing given you are getting ready to head to Japan. Speaking of which how does Mandy feel about it?" Kenny asks. "She's calmed down. I mean I'm making one trip to Japan. She even kind of feels bad about getting so upset," Riley says. "Not going to Japan. I mean your idea. I mean she is going to have to help sell it," Kenny points out. "I am going to get in trouble again. I mean just came up with this idea and called you. I'll just tell her about it as soon as she gets home," Riley says. "Well hey don't worry about it. We will talk to the Bucks, Cody, and Tony. I can see them all going for this really easy," Kenny says.
Wrestling Observer Radio
Bryan Alvarez was in the midst of hosting his radio show. "The Forbidden Door since it has opened we have seen Impact talent on AEW, we have seen AEW talent on Impact. We have seen New Japan talent on Dynamite and New Japan talent on Impact Wrestling. Jon Moxley has made a few appearances New Japan Strong. But what we haven't seen is anyone going over to Japan. Of course we are still in the middle of a Pandemic. However I have it on good authority that very soon we will someone from AEW in a New Japan ring at a show taking place in Japan. I don't who but from what I understand its not Kenny Omega or the Young Bucks. I would guess given Cody and Jon Moxley have kid's on the way fairly soon it won't be either of them. I am hearing though its someone New Japan fans will be very happy to see," Alvarez says.
Mandy and Riley's Home
The Morgan's were in their living room. He was in the middle of telling her the idea he had come up with. "Do you really think the fans would buy it?" Mandy asks. "Well its 2021 so I don't think people will full on buy it. But most of our fans like to play along," Riley says. "By our fans you mean Elite fans," Mandy says. "Yeah I mean they almost always play along. Hell one guy once bought Hangman new boots," Riley says with a smile. "I think I saw that on BTE," Mandy says. "The good old days," Riley says. Mandy wanted to ask what he means by that but bites her tongue. "So I would also need you to help sell this to people," Riley says. "Sell it how?" Mandy asks.
"Well for one thing after Dynamite don't post a photo with me in the background on Instagram," Riley says. "I did that one time and it was a mistake. And I deleted it," Mandy says. "Mandy I was in the middle of using that trimmer to cut my hair. Half of it was long the other half buzzed. My body was covered in hair. People still post that photo online," Riley says. "I'm sorry," Mandy says. "I still think you did it on purpose since I had the door closed and you opened it," Riley says. "I asked you a question and you didn't respond," Mandy reminds him. "Because I had an electric trimmer going right by ears," He says. They had this "fight" a few times. "What if there are fans that thinks it for real. Or what if my parents think it's real?" Mandy asks. "If after all these years your parents think anything is real we got bigger problems," Riley says with a laugh.
"Riley you can't just assume everyone will just see what happens and get the context. Very good chance our families will just hear about it second hand," Mandy reminds him. "Come on I've never pushed kayfab that far. If the family or our close friends are really worried clue them in. Although my mom and dad will likely figure something is up since I already told them I was going to have another match in Japan," Riley says. "You should tell Tay Conti given how into New Japan she is now," Mandy says. "I'll let her know next time I text her a list of matches to study," Riley says. "You are very lucky I'm not a jealous person. A lot of women wouldn't like there husband texting back and forth with some pretty young girl," Mandy says. "She is. But I'm married to the most beautiful woman," Riley says before they kiss.
AEW Dynamite Blood and Guts
Riley's music played after the start of show pyro went off. Kenny's music started but only Don Callis came out. "Riley I am so sorry but Kenny Omega has not arrived yet. He had car trouble," Don claims. "He is lying I saw Kenny earlier," Excalibur says to the fans watching at home. "Well Callis is talking so of course he is lying," Tony Schivone adds. "But Riley you got this," Don claims before getting out of the ring just as Moxley's music plays. Riley looks beyond annoyed. Moxley and Kingston make there way through the crowd. Suddenly Kenny pops up out of the crowd and nails Moxley with the AEW title. Kingston goes to help but Riley has come out of the ring and is fighting with Eddie. "Was this a game plan? And did Riley know?" Jim Ross asks.
Eventually all four men make it to the ring. Riley and Kingston are in the ring while Moxley and Kenny are in the corners. Riley and Kingston start to exchange chops and elbows. Riley lands a roundhouse kick to the leg and goes for a jumping head butt but Kingston catches him and hits a exploder suplex. Tag to Moxley who comes in and hits a running clothesline on Riley. Quick tag back to Kingston and they hit a double team suplex. Kenny doesn't make a move to try and save his partner. Kawada kicks by Kingston than a back breaker. Kingston covers count of one count of two, Riley kicks out. Kingston sets up yurinagi but Riley counters into a DDT. "He needs to make a tag," Tony observes. Riley crawls for the corner and reaches out by Kenny doesn't. "Come on Riley you need to get into this match," Don Callis says on commentary. Riley keeps reaching out only for Kingston to drag him back. "Jumping Enziguri," Excalibur calls when Riley does the move.
This time Kenny takes the tag. Moxley tags in for his team as well. Kenny ducks under Moxley going for a clothesline and comes back to hit the jump knee. Omega with the Kotaro Krusher than the snap dragon. Omega covers count of one count of two Kingston makes the save. The referee forces Kingston out. Moxley is slow to get back up. Missile dropkick to the back of the head by Kenny. "Riley, Riley! Number five," Kenny calls before tagging Riley in. "These two know each so well Kenny can just call out something that simple for a double team," Don brags. Riley locks on a cobra clutch as Kenny grabs Moxley's legs and helps hit an assisted Cobra Bite. Kenny offers his a too sweet but Riley ignores him and hits a body slam and sets for the Ode to Chono. Moxley catches the boot and hits a dragon screw leg whip. Kingston tags back in.
Side slam back breaker by Kingston on Riley and he covers count of one count of two Riley kicks out. Kingston goes for the inverted cloverleaf but Riley gets the ropes. Big boot by Kingston knocks Riley to the floor. Kenny drops off the apron appearing to check on Riley but than back off when Kingston comes out of the ring. Kingston tosses Riley back into the ring and than hits a folding power bomb. Count of one count of two Riley kicks out. Moxley tags back in and hits a regal knee as Kingston hits Riley with a wheel barrow suplex. Moxley follows up with a standing release suplex but instead of trying a pin he tosses Riley toward his corner. "Come on tag in Omega," Moxley taunts. Riley reaches out and Kenny tags in. "What is he doing?" Callis asks before leaving commentary and than head to ring side.
Kenny locks up with Moxley. Kenny with a take down than a hard chop followed by a knee that Moxley shakes off. Riley has rolled to the floor as he's still in pain. Kenny with a chop knocks Moxley back but this lets the former AEW champion hit a pendulum lariat. Running bulldog by Moxley and he covers counts of one count of two. Callis jumps up on the apron and Moxley breaks the pin to go after him. Don drops off before he gets touched but Kingston goes after him. Kenny clips Moxley in the leg as Riley gets back up on the apron. Kenny tags Riley back Croyte's Wrath into a neck breaker combo. Kenny dives out of the ring to take out Kingston who is still going after Callis. Moxley gets back to his knee but Riley hits the shinning wizard and covers count of one count of two Moxley kicks out. Riley hits final wave but before he can covers Kenny tags himself back in.
"What is he doing?" Excalibur asks. Kenny is ready to pick Moxley up and goes for one winged angel only for Jon to slip off the back. Kenny dives and tags Riley. "What a cowardly act," Jim Ross declares. Riley is clearly ticked off. "What is you deal?" He even yells as Kenny. Moxley has recovered and Riley turns around into a boot to the cut. Paradigm Shift by Moxley count of one count of two count of three. Callis has been trying to avoid Kingston this whole time and now goes into the ring but all that does is trap him between Moxley and Kingston. Just before Callis can finally get what is coming to him the Good Brothers and the Young Bucks run out. The numbers quickly become to much for Kingston and Moxley.
As the new Elite are celebrating Riley pulls himself back to his feet. Kenny comes over and wants Riley to join in on beating down Moxley and Kingston. Riley goes to leave but Kenny pulls him back in the ring. "Riley come on man," Karl Anderson says. The Bucks throw up the Too Sweet and the Good Brothers join in. Kenny does as well, Riley looks like he might do it but than shocks everyone bu flipping off the group and rolling out of the ring.
Later That Night
"We understand something is going down backstage," Jim Ross says before the shot shifts to the parking lot. Alex Marvez is running out where Riley can be seen talking to Mandy. "Riley you can't do this," Mandy is heard saying. "The hell I can't. I've had enough. I've been the good loyal friend way to long," Riley yells. "What is going on?" Marvez asks once he reaches them. "Let me tell you what is going on Marvez. I'm out of here," Riley says. "You are out of here? Riley you just returned from injury are you sure you want to take more time off?" Alex Marvez asks. "Oh I'm not taking time. I'll be wrestling. It just won't be here. I didn't come back to AEW to live in the damn past," Riley yells. "Calm down," Mandy pleads.
"I am not going to calm down. Look at what happened tonight. I get put in this tag match where my supposed friend is willing to let me get hurt to protect himself. Matt is more worried about dressing like its Bash at the Beach. The rest just think throwing up some old hand sign. I'm not going to live in the past guys. Maybe I should I check out that Forbidden Door," Riley says. "But Riley what about AEW what about The Elite?" Marvez asks. "AEW who knows as for The Elite at this stage I'd rather be anything but," Riley says before walking off.
Being the Elite
Nick, Matt, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows are in the EVP room. Matt is pacing. "I can't believe he would do that. All the thing we have done for Riley Morgan," Matt says mad. "Yeah we got that SOB over," Nick says. "Look guys one thing an old vet like me has learned is sometimes you just got to let a guy fail on his sown," Gallows says. "Well Riley because I know you will watch this. Be very careful what you wish for," Matt says.
