"Princess Leia? And not even the metal bikini wearing one?" Mark complained when Lexie opened the door, dressed in her rendition of the battle-ready princess.
Lexie frowned at the sight of him in just his leather jacket, a grey Henley and jeans. "And you came dressed as absolutely nothing." She rolled her eyes and went back into the house, leaving him to see himself in. Costumes were optional, but he was her boyfriend. He was supposed to wear one in solidarity.
"You're lucky I came at all." He goaded her, closing the door behind him.
She growled at him as they walked into the living room and she continued stringing up cobwebs on the mantle. She was setting up for the house's Halloween party that she had proposed to her sister at breakfast earlier in the month. April was quick to chime in with a "yes please", "could be fun" came from Jackson and the "whatever" from Alex as he headed out the door, was basically a "yes". Jackson had a point and Derek would be all for it, so Meredith gave it the green light with the stipulation that they did all the work. Beyond Zola's birthday parties, she was no party planner.
Lexi was getting started while April, her partner in planning, was still at work and she told Mark to arrive early to help them.
"Why don't you ditch these people and come home with me? We got some making up to do." He came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and buried his face in the side of her neck. Smiling, Lexie reached back to rub her fingers through his hair. "God knows I love my daughter more than life itself, but if she had just stayed asleep for twenty more minutes. That's all I needed."
.
"Daddy?" The tiny voice came from her bedroom, startling the two adults who were well on their way to enjoying some alone time.
"Oh damn." Mark hissed and looked down at Lexie underneath him on the couch, her hands covering her face in embarrassment. They were both scrambling to put their shirts back on when a sleepy Sofia padded out into the front room. "Hey baby girl." He jumped up, trying to appear as natural as possible.
"Daddy, bad dream." She said miserably.
"Aw, come here." He extended his arms to her, but she completely bypassed him and went straight to Lexie who plucked her up into her lap.
"You're okay, sweetie. The bad dream wasn't real. You're safe and sound with your daddy and me." She snuggled down with Sofia, grabbing the throw blanket from the back on the couch and started rocking her back to sleep.
Feeling snubbed, but totally okay with it, Mark sat down next to them. He put his arm around them and turned on the TV to quietly find something to watch. It wasn't long before both Lexie and Sofia were fast asleep.
One by one, he picked up each of his girls and put them to bed.
.
"Wow, twenty minutes is all I was going to get?" She turned her head to look back at him. "I really missed out on that one." She said with a taunting laugh. "Hey!"
He suddenly swung her around, tossed her over his shoulder and took her upstairs to her room. "Thank God you don't live in the attic anymore." He said as he dropped her onto her bed.
While she was still in the hospital, Meredith flip-flopped her room with Alex's as she would need to be closer to the ground floor.
"Aw, poor old man." She pouted at him in mocking pity. "We're seriously doing this?" She giggled, watching him close and lock the bedroom door and then kick off his shoes.
It was a couple of hours before the party started, but April or any of the number of people who lived in this full house could come home at any minute.
Pulling off his shirt, he crawled over her. "You shouldn't have challenged me when you know how much I can get accomplished in twenty minutes." He grinned at her salaciously. "Allow me to remind you."
Draping her arms over his shoulders, she pretended to think about it. "Hmm, okay." She pulled him down for a kiss and they quickly got caught up in their shared passion.
He peeled off her costume, she yanked off the rest of his clothes and they made love.
.
"Okay." Lexie breathed deeply, laying on his bare chest in the aftermath. " I'm just going to keep my mouth shut from now on." He had proved more than once that he could get a lot done in twenty minutes.
They were laughing when they heard the front door close and Meredith's voice.
"Lexie! Are you home?"
"Oopsie." She winced playfully. "Come on let's get dressed." She gave him a peck and climbed out of bed.
"Let's ditch." He shot back.
"No." She countered, putting her costume on. "Be a good boy and you'll get a round 2 treat later." She winked at him and he relented, joined her to redress.
Back downstairs and in character, Lexie spotted her sister in the kitchen. "Hey Meredith. You're back early."
"Yeah, her flight arrived early." She said in reference to her person who she had just picked up from the airport for a visit.
"Cristina!" Lexie exclaimed, seeing her seated at the table. "It's so nice to finally meet you in person." She approached her and gave her a hug.
Meredith skyped with Cristina at least twice a week and had reintroduced them a while back. Meredith told her that Cristina actually visited her while she was in her coma.
Normally, Cristina would shun emotional contact, but this was 3. Just as annoyingly cherry and alive, 3.
"Mark." Meredith stated when he strolled into the room. She noticed that he had come from upstairs with Lexie.
"Meredith. Yang, welcome back." He said casually and got a water out of the fridge.
"Lex." Meredith turned her questioning look towards her sister. She only looked slightly wrinkled, and Mark was dealing with a bit of bed head. Something had happened between these two.
"Mer." Lexie batted her eyes innocently. There would be no kissing and telling... at least not now, maybe later over a pint of ice cream in the middle of the night. "Mark's going to help me set up the fog machines so we'll be on the porch." She grabbed his hand and dragged him along with her outside.
Meredith and Cristina watch the two of them leave the kitchen and go out the front door.
"Yeah, she's totally doing McSteamy again." Cristina declared.
.
A few hours later, the party was in full swing with a variety of people, some donning all kinds of costumes and others in their regular clothes. There was the central group of attendings and residents from SGMW, but then there was also Lexie's new friends from the rehab center, her fellow yogis and even some of her classmates from UW who were her age.
She was standing among a group of them when Mark approached her.
"Hey Princess Leia, you're out of beer. You might want to get some more before you have a revolution on your hands." He playfully tugged at the blaster on her hip.
"There's more in the garage." She told him and minding her manners, she introduced him. "Hey guys, this is my boyfriend, Mark. Mark, you remember Chad and Tom. This is Rina, she's a therapist at the rehab center too. You remember Marty, Tyler is in my yoga class as well and Holly is a second year at UW."
"Nice to meet you all." He said to those he was meeting for the first time. "And it's good to see you guys again." His polite smile turned cocky as he noticed Chad's discomfort at Lexie calling him her boyfriend. The guy never stood a chance.
"Excuse us while we go restock." Lexie smiled sweetly as she grabbed Mark's arm and yanked him away towards the garage. "You are hopeless."
Of course, she noticed his little pissing contest with Chad and it was ridiculous. She was aware that Chad had a crush on her, but he was never on her radar, especially with the likes of Mark Sloan around. He had pretty much won before the race even started. But she wasn't about to inflate his ego any more than it already was by telling him that.
"Yeah, I know." Mark fully admitted. They were in the garage and Lexie was about to head for the spare refrigerator when he pulled her back into his arms. "And you love me for it." He said and kissed her.
.
Lexi hummed as Mark kissed her against the closed on-call room door. "That was a nice send-off." She said when he finally let her up for air. She really needed to get out of here before he managed to get her out of her clothes for the third time.
"You're welcome." He gloated and she smacked him in the stomach, making him laugh.
It was her final volunteering shift as next semester she would be working in another rehab center in the city to start clocking practical hours. She was sad to say goodbye, but she knew she'd be back when she started her internship rotations for rehab specialties. Without a doubt, Seattle Grace Mercy West would be her choice for her trauma rotation.
Since it was her last day, Mark thought he'd text her to come to an empty on-call room for one last hurrah.
"Dinner at my place tonight?" He kissed her one last time.
"Sure." She kissed him back one last time and playfully pushed him away before they got carried away.
He grabbed her restraining hand and kissed her palm. "Meet me there? You can let yourself in, you know since you have a key now." He said triumphantly.
Lexie rolled her eyes. Yep, he had keyed her just last week after their movie date. No pressure, he said. He just wanted her to feel comfortable, like she belonged in his space. He was so cute that she couldn't say no.
"Okay. I'll see you there." She gave him one more kiss and rushed to get out while she had a chance to escape him.
Mark was right behind her and playfully tugged at the back of her polo. Giggling, she batted him away. "Hey Callie." She greeted her in passing as she walked towards the elevator.
Mark stopped at the desk where she was standing to see if he had any patient charts that he needed to review.
"Wow, now you both have no shame." Callie teased, feigning distaste. Truthfully, she was so happy for a best friend. He finally had everything he ever wanted, and he deserved to be on cloud nine.
"You only live once, Torres." He extended his arms, stretching out his chest and headed to find an intern to get him his lunch. He had worked up an appetite.

Lexie & Mark the Love Drunk Fools
You might have been wondering about Cristina and where she's been. She was still traumatized by the crash and went to MN. Instead of Lexie, the pilot unfortunately got the wolf treatment...BTW, was it really necessary for the writers to do Lexie like that? Geez...
Ok, I want to give you guys a heads up - this is a short, but sweet "snapshot" story - 7 chapters total. That means only two chapters left. I could probably go on and on with Lexie and Mark, but my 7 chapters are fitting and I think you'll still enjoy what's left to come. Stay tuned and let me know what you think! 😊
