Chapter 5: The Decision
(Percy)
"Wh-why me?" Reyna asked.
"Well…" I said, I didn't know exactly what to say. Truth is I have been watching Camp Jupiter for the past few months and more specifically Reyna.
The first 7 months with the titans was challenging to say the least. In order to truly earn their trust and alliance, I had to gain each of their favor. So I would spend one month which each titan and have to accomplish any test or challenge they will put me through. On the days that I have break was spent catching up with Apollo and Artemis. The twins visited regularly as their mother Leto was here as well as their grandparents Koios and Phoebe. That being said, they kept me informed of what has been happening throughout the camps and Olympus. We have gone to be close friends to the point where we call each other by our names instead of constant formalities. And it is fun when you get to see Artemis kick her younger siblings ass from time to time just because he is annoying. My father also visited from time to time, although he was not allowed inside the palace so he would often meet me by the entrance to the garden and I would spend a few hours with him in Atlantis. After 7 long months, I impressed all of the 7 titans and they have agreed to help Olympus in the coming battle to my relief. However it was not over yet as I still had to get to know the majority of the other Titans as well.
By the tenth month I have managed to fully persuade all of Othrys to support Olympus in the coming war. The next two months was spent preparing and training with everyone. And admittedly, spying on a certain daughter of Bellona.
Yes, I am attracted to Reyna, but before I go further let me explain. It all began one day on the second month when Artemis visited.
*Flashback*
"Lady Artemis." I greeted.
"Hello Perseus, I have come here to talk to you but I'm afraid I hold no good news." She said.
"What is it milady?"
"Annabeth Chase has joined the hunt, this means she has sworn her oath to turn her back on romance and men. Your friends managed to persuade her to stop searching for you before she goes insane. She is the Chief Architect to the brand new camp so she must focus on that and not spend her time looking for you. With this in mind I have come to tell you this Perseus, I find that you are a decent man and admittedly you are different than all the other foolish boys out there. But Annabeth Chase is now my hunter and has sworn an oath to me, should you meet Annabeth again, you will no longer be allowed to make any romantic move towards her or tempt her from breaking her oath. We are friends Perseus, but if you so much as try to tempt her to begin a relationship with you again you will feel my wrath. Are we clear?" She finished.
"Yes milady." I said still processing everything.
"Very well Perseus that is all for now. I am sorry for how things turned out." She told me sincerely.
"It is okay milady, thank you for giving her a home and a family to be comfortable in." I said starting to tear up. She smiled sadly at me and nodded, a few seconds later I turned around as she flashed away and I began crying.
*End of flashback*
"Well…because you are reliable and I can count on you. You have excellent swordsmanship skills and you are the perfect person for the job." I told Reyna, it is the truth but not the entire truth.
She continued to stare at me as if I was crazy and I began to feel my confidence slowly shrink with every passing second. Eventually she started talking.
"I…I need some time to think about this Percy, I am a praetor I have a legion to look after …"
"There are 5 centurions and about 40 senators, I think they would be fine without you for awhile. Plus you could always appoint someone to temporarily shoulder your responsibilities. This is important Reyna." I said, desperate to try and persuade her.
"I need to think about it Percy..."
"Very well, if you will excuse me I will just change into some new clothes." I told her eager to leave her alone as I went to my bedroom and shut the door. I took off my day old clothes and put on a fresh set and started to get nervous. If she says no then I'll have no choice but to go through all of that alone. Which is something I am not looking forward to if that is the case.
After around an hour or so later I was seated by my bed trying to calm myself down when I heard a gentle knock on my bedroom door. I stood up and opened it.
"Yes" she said simply.
"Yes?" I asked, trying to get confirmation that she actually said yes.
"Yes, and if you ask me again I will leave you alone so stop being a Seaweed Brain and tell me what we need to do." She said with finality in her voice.
I did the only natural thing, I hugged her.
AN:
So this chapter is short as I said in my comment. This is to fill in some gaps that haven't exactly been explained yet and to build the main story of chapter 6 which I promise will be a long chapter. And don't worry, I will eventually tackle Percy's one year stay at Othrys in full detail as to avoid confusion. As for Annabeth, I mentioned that this is a PercyxReyna eventually, so I had to take her out of the equation somehow. I wanted to be original.
That being said Chapter 6 around tomorrow or the day after!
Don't be shy to leave a like and a comment!
Special shoutout to Dawn Justice, First viewer and first comment so if ever this story gets well known Chapter 5 has your name on it!
