PREVIOUSLY-
"I definitely sound crazy saying this, but I believe you, son. I never liked that Edwin kid anyway and now I know why. I've always liked you, Sam. I'm glad my daughter ended up with a good man, the right person for her." Charlie said, reaching up to shake Sam's hand.
To say I was surprised would be the understatement of the year.
We spent two hours explaining more about everything to Charlie and he promised to explain the human version of what happened to Renee, who had already caught her flight back to Jacksonville.
When he left, I leaned my forehead against Sam's chest and took a deep breath. Sam rubbed circles on my back then leaned down to kiss the top of my head.
"So a supernatural marriage, huh?" I asked Sam curiously as I looked up at him.
"It's technically way more than that and we both know it. Not to mention, you're already claiming to be a Uley." He winked at me, motioning to the shirt.
"Mmm how did Charlie put it? Walked out of one wedding and right into another?" I murmured against his chest. I could feel him hum against my cheek.
"Well I'm definitely not opposed to that." He replied, causing me to breathe out a laugh against him as he swayed me back and forth.
"I already have a dress." I teased.
"Nah, I don't want you to wear something that you didn't pick out and that you're not comfortable in." He said, leaning down to kiss the top of my head.
"That sounds like a wonderful plan. We should probably give it a few weeks though. Let Charlie recover from shock." I laughed.
"Anything you want, honey. You know that I'd take you over to Billy's and ask him to marry us right now if you asked me to." He said before I pulled back slightly so that he could kiss me.
"I think the pack might get a little offended if we went and got married before telling them." I said in between kisses.
"Better to ask forgiveness..." He whispered with a sly smile. I gave him a pointed look. "I can't help it, Bella. My wolf is loving this conversation."
"How about we compromise?" I replied, making his eyebrows raise in anticipation.
"Please continue." He said to me, anxiously waiting.
"We can't go right this second, but we can get married before my birthday on September 13th," his eyes widened, "if," he urged me to continue, "you can promise me that it'll be something small. Just the pack and family. And you have to drive me up to Port Angeles to get a dress that I like. No gaudy jewelry, just something simple. Oh, and you get to be the one to tell Charlie and Renee."
"Consider it done, honey." He told me while leaning down to kiss me again excitedly.
"It's so strange, I know it all sounds crazy. I used to be so against marriage. You know, I didn't want to end up like Charlie and Renee did. I wasn't even excited about the idea of marrying Edward, but with you it's so different. Like, I don't even have to think about it. There's no insecurities, no doubts. I know for a fact that you won't suddenly decide overnight that we just don't work and then leave. I know that you won't wake up one day and think that I'm not good enough." I said to him honestly. All of those had been my biggest fears about marriage and the imprint had quelled all of them.
Sam continued to hold me by the hips as he responded. "You definitely won't ever have to worry about any of that. You might have to worry about me wanting to keep you in bed all day because I can't get enough, though. I'm already more than excited about waking up to you every morning, knowing that you're mine. Knowing that nothing will ever change that fact. Don't even get me started on the whole name thing… I think that's the alpha in me needing everyone else to know that you're mine too."
"Now that we've covered Charlie and getting married, I think my alpha needs call Jacob over here so that we can all talk. I'm sure you have a pack meeting planned for tonight and I want to get this settled before then." I told him.
"I was thinking the same thing. I really don't know how he reacted since I didn't see it myself and I haven't seen it in the pack mind yet either. I'll call Billy's and see if he's there, if not then I'll phase and see if he's phased in." Sam replied.
I nodded and he let go of me, walking over to his phone and dialing Billy's number. Moments later, he came back over to me.
"He's coming over. Billy said he hasn't phased since he saw everything in the pack mind last night." Sam told me as I grabbed some things out of the fridge to make food. I knew Sam must be starving.
"He's been gone for two months, Sam. And that happened because I was marrying someone else…" I muttered as I made the food.
"No, it was because you were marrying a vampire. It was the thought of losing you in every way that made him leave. He's not losing you now. You're a part of the pack." He reassured me but I was still worried. I didn't want him to react badly.
I had finished the food and Sam was already eating by the time Jacob got to the house. I'd made sure to make enough in case he wanted some as well.
I was so nervous as Jacob walked in. I just wanted things to be okay.
To my incredulous surprise, as soon as Jake saw me he smiled brightly. He walked right over to me and pulled me into a crushing hug.
After a minute, I could hear Sam let out a low growl in warning making Jake release me and step back with his hands held up in the air in surrender.
"Don't worry, Sam, I'm not trying to steal your imprint. I'm just relieved that she's alive and staying that way." Jacob said. My eyes almost popped out of my head in complete shock.
"You-you're not mad about the imprint?" I questioned him quickly.
"No. Well, I was a bit peeved at first because it wasn't me, but it doesn't matter. I don't care who you're with as long as it isn't with them. You're alive, you're you, and you look pretty happy, so I'm good." Jacob told me. I was completely and utterly surprised but in such a good way.
"I am happy, Jake. So happy." I told him as Sam walked up behind me, snaking his arms around my waist. "You've always been my best friend, like a brother to me, and I'm glad that I won't lose you again."
"It's so weird because now that I'm standing here in front of you, all of those feelings I had before are just gone. It's like you're my sister, a pack sister. Call it pack mentality if you want but I can feel that you're taken. Not only that, my wolf knows that you're my alpha's imprint and I'm okay with that." Jake said with a chuckle. "As long as this loser treats you right."
"You know I will, Jacob." Sam's voice reverberated from behind me.
"Oh I know, I just wanted to mess with you." Jake said, punching Sam in the upper arm playfully.
I was so beyond happy that I couldn't even express it in words. Jake was still my best friend, my brother.
"So are you going to tell me how it all went down with Cullen? Because I really want to know." Jake asked.
Sam and I explained it all to him while he ate the food I made and he just smiled and shook his head.
"I really wish I could've been there to see the look on his face. I have a feeling that it won't be the last we see of them though. We all know how controlling he was over Bella. I don't think he'll be over it that quick." Jake told Sam after we'd explained everything.
"That's what we think too. Bella's going to be living here with me now but we need to keep an eye on Charlie." Sam responded to him.
"Got it. You know, I can't even say anything about your relationship moving too fast because I know how it was when Paul imprinted on my sister. She was moved out by the end of the day and engaged by the end of the week. And that was Paul." Jake emphasized and I started laughing as I looked at Sam.
"Care to tell him?" I asked Sam. He gave me a knowing smile and nodded.
"We're pseudo-engaged already too." Sam began and I looked at him funny. "I haven't officially proposed yet, but we've already decided that we're getting married in the next month."
"I'm not even surprised, to be honest. I was half-expecting you to say that you had my dad marry you guys yesterday." Jake replied causing me to raise my eyebrows.
"The thought crossed my mind, but Bella wants the pack and family to be there so that's what we're doing." Sam told him before continuing. "I'm really glad that you're okay with this Jacob. I was almost worried that you might challenge me for alpha over it."
"You know I don't want to be alpha, Sam. That's you, not me. You can control a whole pack of teenage wolves a heck of a lot better than I ever could or would want to, so don't even worry about me challenging you… ever." Jake responded with a chuckle.
Sam held his hand out and Jacob shook it in agreement.
"Can you go tell the guys that we have a pack meeting tonight at 5?" Sam asked him and he nodded.
"Glad to have you back, Jake." I told him before he left. He turned around and flashed me a million-dollar smile.
"No, I'm glad to have you back, Bella." He replied before heading off out the doorway.
A/N- Luckily I had this chapter written already because to add on to my horrible year so far, I can now add broken arm to the list. My writing might be a teensy bit slower the next few weeks...
Please review and let me know what you thought about Jacob's reaction. A bit different than my other stories, isn't it?
