I'm always a little weary of trigger warnings, but for anything mental health related I think their vital, so if I write anything to do with mental health or loss I'll put a warning in bold at the top of the page so you can see what's in the imagine. If you ever find something triggering then I'd encourage you to skip over the chapter, these are all stand alone so you won't miss anything, look after yourselves and I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Trigger warning: Miscarriage

Here comes the sun, doo, dun, doo, doo Here comes the sun and I say, it's all right.

Sam held her hand, as she did as the doctor told her and let the staff check her over. She was in her tenth hour of labour and Sam knew she was exhausted, but he also knew this could go on for another ten hours. "You've got this Cedes'." He told her, brushing a strand of sweat matter hair from her face. She turned to him eyes watering. "You've got this." He repeated.

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter.

"Why can't I just have a normal pregnancy, like a normal person?" At six months pregnant Sam knew Mercedes was struggling with the intense sickness she had, since they'd found out she was pregnant she could barely keep any food down and here he was again, holding a bucket so she could throw up the small amount of food she had eaten that day. He wouldn't admit it to her, but he was worried. Worried for her, worried for their child inside of her, he'd had a quiet word with their doctor, who had told him to get Mercedes to eat little and often and keep her hydrated. He was doing that, but it hurt him to see his wife, the women he loved so dearly, in so much pain.

Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here.

It had come and gone so fast, he could barely acknowledge it. One minute she'd been waving a pregnancy stick, the next she'd been weeping in a hospital gown as they told them their baby no longer lived. "It will get easier." Everyone had told them, at first his Mom had called daily, Santana, Brittany, Kurt, Blaine, Tina and Mike, had put together a meal rota, delivering them food daily. Mercedes hadn't ever eaten even a bite. Santana had been the most surprising, checking in long after everyone else had stopped, but as the New Year rolled around, and everyone went out to celebrate, they stayed in mourning the loss of their child, and at their therapist's suggestion naming them, River Jones Evans, they never had known whether they were having a girl or a boy, but they kept the two sonograms and the positive pregnancy test they had in a box with River's name on it. They wouldn't forget their first child.

Here comes the sun, doo, dun, doo, doo.

Santana rushed into the room. She'd understood the loss of River best and Mercedes wanted her with them when they welcomed their second child. "How are you doing Chica?" Santana asked, noting how tired her friend looked. Sam caught Santana's eye and offered her a small smile, which Santana returned. "I'll be back in a moment." He told them, stepping out of the room.

Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right.

Blaine, Kurt, Tina, Mike and Brittany were in the waiting room, his parents and siblings and Mercedes' mom were all on flights hoping to arrive before the Jones-Evans baby arrived, he needed a breather and when Brittany pulled him to the side he was grateful. He got on extremely well with his ex girlfriend, and they still gave each other advice and complained about their spouses to each other.

"You look more stressed then Lord Tubbington when I caught him trying to murder Lady Tubbington." Brittany told him.

"Stressful day." He replied, looking at the ground before his eyes met hers. "What if we lose this baby, like we lost River?" He voiced the question he had been afraid to ask out loud. What if they walked away without a baby?

"Then it's going to hurt." Brittany replied honestly. "But Sam don't remember this day as a day you were scared the whole time, there's no indication this baby is anything but healthy." She told him. "You need to remember this day as a good one Sam. No matter what you're going to end the day as a Dad again"

Little darling, the smile's returning to the faces.

"Everything looks good." The midwife stated. "The heartbeat is what we'd expect." She added. "Mom you're almost ready to push. Who do you want in the room with you mom?" Mercedes groaned in pain, before she answered. "Sam, Santana, Tina, Brit." She stated. As Santana went to call Tina in, Sam didn't fail to notice the small smile on Mercedes face as she prepared to push.

Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here.

She shook as she read the pregnancy test. "I can't do this Sam." She told him, handing over the positive test. He nodded. He didn't have the words, as he opened his arms and engulfed her into a hug. He didn't know what to say. He didn't think he could face the loss of another child.

Here comes the sun, doo, dun, doo, doo. Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right.

"Okay," The midwife looked to Tina. "You grab the left leg." Tina nodded. "You take the right leg." She told Brittany. Santana stood on one side of Mercedes and Sam on the other. "Okay mommy, it's time to start pushing." The midwife instructed.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.

She couldn't help but scream, as she pushed for the first time. It hurt so much more then she had imagined it would.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.

"You're doing so well." Sam told her, wiping a clump of matted hair out of her face.

"Not long to go Chica." Santana added.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.

"Okay mommy push again." The midwife instructed and Mercedes pushed as instructed, squeezing Sam and Santana's hands as she did so.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.

"And rest." Mercedes took a deep breath in at the midwife's instruction. "You're doing great mommy." The midwife told her. She nodded, not fully convinced.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.

"Okay and push." The midwife instructed and she did so, groaning in pain as the contraction hit.

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting.

At their first scan they had a heartbeat. An actual heartbeat. Even with the heartbeat, Mercedes didn't want a picture of the sonogram. Not until they were sure the baby would live.

Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear.

They had gone to therapy. They both knew they needed it. They went together and had individual sessions too. It was helping. It was slowly helping them prepare for the new child.

Here comes the sun, doo, dun, doo, doo. Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right.

"Alright and the head has been born." The midwife declared. Mercedes pushed again and the midwife smiled. "And the shoulders." She added, as Mercedes pushed a final time. "We have a baby girl." The midwife declared as cries filled the room.

Here comes the sun, doo, dun, doo, doo. Here comes the sun. It's all right.

As Mercedes held her tiny daughter, beside her Sam couldn't wipe the smile off his face. "She's beautiful just like her mama." He stated.

"We have a baby." Mercedes breathed, as their daughter stirred a little. "An actual baby." She repeated. "I know." He beamed. "I know."

It's all right.
