And I'm back. More on that at the end.

"I'm sorry sweetie, animals and monsters sleep outside". The door slammed shut in my face, a locking noise filling the air. I could hear a loud laughter erupting from inside the cabin. I also heard some muffled cries of protest, but they were quickly silenced and replaced by even more laughing.
I didn't know what to do. I was so shocked. So hurt. I stared at the door as tears flowed freely down my face. I quickly recovered from my shock and sighed, wiping the tears off my face as I contemplated what to do next. 'I could go to Percy?' I thought, but I quickly shoved that to the back of my head, thinking that I had already caused him enough trouble with my stay. Although pained, I decided I would just find a bush nearby. I spotted one fairly quickly and lay down in it, trying to get as much cover as possible to stop myself from being tackled by the night's cold elements. 'Maybe it was just an initiation' I thought sadly, trying to find even the smallest silver lining in the dark storm that was my life. As I tried to fall asleep, the wind of the night like ice knives dug into my face as the thorny bush I had chosen poked into my back. I tossed and turned hoping for day to come. Hoping for some sort of sign that my life was about to turn around.
'Maybe I'll wake up and be happy'
Sam PoV:
A cold dampness surround me when I woke up. The leaves of the bush pricked and jabbed me awake- pushing me out into the cold start of the morning. The sun had only just risen, sending its warm waves of relief unto me, attempting to warm my cold and stiff body and alleviate my depressed state of mind.
Begrudgingly, I pushed myself up, feeling my muscles and joints ache from the hard ground upon which I laid to rest last night. A faint me-shaped outline appeared on the dirt, illustrating that I had slept in a couple of unfortunately well-placed rocks. I attempted to determine the time of day by the position of the sun, but it being summer, I could only place it sometime in the very early hours of the morning. My neck clicked as I moved it, while my legs plodded ungracefully forwards. 'A walk might put my body back into the swing of things' I thought, as I walked away from the Aphrodite cabin. I made a mental note to be back at the cabin soon in order to show how I had completed my obvious initiation into a cabin. Although, an initiation by the cabin of love where on has to sleep outside in the filth did seem peculiar to me, but I discarded the thought from my mind.
I observed the serene nature around me, as well as the mass of cabins and activities around me. I inspected each and every one of them closely, having not had time to as Percy and Annabeth seemed to quite like to keep the tours moving at a pace. I stopped in front of what I remembered was the Hermes cabin. Hermes was the god of quite a few things such as heralds, thieves, merchants, orators and travelers. The last one cast a hint of doubt in me. I had heard that all those who were undetermined- which was pretty much zero, apart from me over the last few days- had stayed at the Hermes cabin until either decided or not. I had been undecided yet I had not been put into the Hermes cabin. I had met a couple of them, and they seemed relatively nice, although my hearing has always been a bit crap and Percy and Annabeth seemed to push me along as soon as I could see a couple of their mouths open. 'I'll ask them about that later' I decided.
I continued to walk around camp for a bit, looking in on the empty arena, gazing over the sea and staying away from that massive wall that spewed lava until I started to see campers beginning to emerge from the cabins in search of food. Heading back to the Aph- Mom's cabin, I felt nervous as I would finally get to meet my half-siblings as I had passed the initiation. Arriving at the cabin, I steeled my nerves before knocking on the door. I heard talking and shuffling coming from behind the door before Drew opened it up. She looked weary, like someone who had just gotten out of bed, even though her looks were still immaculate. Her eyes widened slightly upon seeing me, before they narrowed as she stared intently.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, adding a malicious emphasis onto the third word as her mouth curled.
"I'm here to come into the cabin and meet my family." I meekly replied, looking down in order to avoid her piercing glare.
"Oh? And what gave you that impression?" she questioned.
"Well, I slept outside like you asked. I passed the test, right?" I said, daring to look up into her eyes which still held their glare. She seemed to be taken aback slightly by what I said, but smiled a sickly sweet smile.
"Of course honey, you passed the test!" she squealed the last part, and a smile crept over my face. Hope was reemerging within me. All the concerns from the previous night had been struck from my mind as my half-sister smiled at me. "However, I just need to confer with our half-brothers and sisters. Just to see if they agree." she added on. I grew worried from that. 'What if they didn't like me? Where would I go from here?' The negative thoughts crossed my mind. They clearly reflected on my face as Drew leant down and whispered in my ear. "Don't worry hon, I'm sure they'll say yes."
A smile quickly appeared on my face as I watched Drew turn away and close the door into the cabin. I heard some muffled talking, but couldn't make out what they were saying. I couldn't tell if that was due to the cabin or my hearing. It didn't matter though, as I waited patiently for the verdict.
A few minutes passed before Drew opened the door and beckoned me inside. I followed in, my excitement making me ignore the heavy stench of perfume. 'I'd have to get used to that awful smell' I noted as I took in the sight of the cabin. Bunk beds were neatly arranged on either side of the large room. What was not neatly arranged however, were the various magazines, perfume bottles, makeup equipment and clothes scattered around the place. If you asked me, it looked like a bomb had hit, but only threw around the personal items without changing the living layout of the cabin. A group of of my family stood in a line looking at me. Some of them grinned, while others smirked, but a few towards the right of the room looked slightly sad.
"Sam Lillet. Meet your half-brothers and sister. So, from left to right. Valentina, Connor, Lucy, Amy, Jack, Phila, Amorette, Zelda, Charles, Fred, Poppy, Tanya, Zoe, Reese, Mina, Mitchell and Little Lacy." The young blonde girl on the end from last night glared at Drew's for her nickname, but Drew either didn't notice or didn't care.
It was rather easy to tell that they were all children of Aphrodite, as they all looked insanely hot. I looked over their perfectly groomed looks to the final three on the end. The ones who had look somewhat sad when staring at me as I was introduced. Lacy was small, clearly young, with long blonde hair which flowed over her brown eyes and pale skin. Mitchell had the looks of a male model. His brown hair falling loosely over his blue eyes, his lean build and his gloriously tanned skin were seemingly evident of this fact. But Mina easily looked the best out of the concerned trio, her caramel skin seemed to radiate perfection. Her dark frizzled hair had streaks of red in it, giving her a rebellious yet gorgeous look. Her dark eyes seemed to hold many secrets, yet also kindness as she pondered when looking at me.
"So, now that introductions are out of the way." Drew turned me around so I stared deep into her eyes. Were I not her half-brother, I would've thought she might have been insinuating something. Her eyes changed various colours as she spoke her next words. "Since you're new, before we go to breakfast, I need you to give this place a good tidy. It's cabin inspection today."
A rough wave crashed over me, making my head throb as the words she spoke bounded to and fro inside my head. It was agony as I momentarily shut my eyes to block out the pain. The wave ceased to rock my head as I felt myself returning to normal, a couple beads of sweat forming on my forehead from my intense, albeit quick, headache. Drew continued to stare at me with a smug look on her face. "I expect it done within the next half-hour."
"But why do I need to do it? I only just got here, I didn't make this mess?", a moment of confidence forced those words out of me, as Drew's mouth and eyes opened wide. The cabin fell silent. I panicked. 'Was it something I said?' I thought as my half-brothers and sisters looked over at me, in the same shock as Drew- however, I did notice Lacy, Mitchell and Mina grin slightly.
Drew quickly recomposed herself from her unflattering position, staring deeply into my eyes. "You will clean up the cabin."
The wave crashed into my head again, yet this time was somehow even more intense. I closed my eyes as I fought off the pain. I had no idea what was happening, but I knew it had something to do with what Drew was saying. Her words rocked inside my brain, and I could feel myself starting to move subconsciously, before the wave once again subsided, and I opened my eyes to Drew's face. She seemed satisfied as she once again turned away.
"What did you do to me?" I said. Another silence filled the room. Drew turned back around, anger seemingly rising in her if it was any indication from her red face. Her mouth opened up to speak, but she was interrupted by someone else.
"Leave him alone Drew. Clean up your own mess. Unless you want Piper finding out." I turned to find the source of the voice was Lacy.
Drew evidently wanted to say something, but the mention of that Piper girl clearly made her bite her tongue. She stormed off, clearly furious at what had just happened. My other half-brothers and sisters got back to whatever task they were doing, nervously looking over at me. Lacy walked over to me with Mina and Mitchell in tone.
"Thanks." I told Lacy.
"Don't be. We're family, and Drew needed to be put in her place. Bu-" Lacy was cut off as Mitchell jumped in front of her and grabbed me by the shoulders.
"HOW DID YOU DO THAT!" He shouted in my face as he roughly shook my back and forth. My head bounced up and down as he did so.
"Stop it Mitchell!" I heard the other girl, Mina, say.
"Fine" he said, loosening his grip on me. "But I want answers."
"Answers to what?" I replied, confused by what he was talking about.
"How did you stave off Drew's charmspeak? I mean, and no offence, you don't look as powerful as Drew of Percy." Mina questioned.
"I-I don't know. What's charmspeak. Was that what gave me a splitting headache?" I answered.
"Charmspeak is an ability strong demigods of Aphrodite, like Drew and also Piper our cabin counsellor, have. You'll meet her soon, but for now she is at Camp Jupiter with her boyfriend Jason." I nodded, remembering Percy and Annabeth telling me about her when discussing the prophecy of seven. Content with that, Lacy continued.
"It essentially means that the person who has the ability to charmspeak can make you do almost anything, with the limits being killing yourself as your own survival instinct is stronger, or killing those with incredibly strong bonds to you. However, if you are incredibly powerful, like someone like Percy Jackson, you can just ignore it in its entirety. You appear to be able to ignore it, meaning that you are very powerful." Mina expertly explained.
My face dropped at this explanation as I was unsure about how to react when being told I was powerful. Luckily I didn't have to, as Mitchell seemed eager to bombard me with questions.
"What did it feel like? Where did you learn how to do it? Can you do it? Who is your dad?" he asked in rapid fire succession.
Mina and Lacy gave him a stern look but I held up my hands, indicating that I would answer his questions.
"Well, it was kinda odd. Like a painful wave rolling over me, giving me a massive headache, before subsiding as I closed my eyes. I don't know where or when I learnt how to do it, but my sneaking suspicions tell me right when she did it." I laughed a bit, as Lacy and Mina gave a small smile while Mitchell grinned as he continued to stare expectantly at me.
"Keep going." He said in obvious anticipation.
"I haven't tried to do it. I didn't even know it was a thing until a few moments ago."
"You can try on me if you like! Just tell me to do something." Mitchell told me. I chuckled a bit at the irony of what he was telling me to do.
"Okay.". I smiled before clearing my throat and preceding in a deep voice "Mitchell, bark like a dog"
A few seconds went by, but Mitchell clearly didn't feel a thing.
"Oh, I guess you can't do it." He said, a disappointing tone evident in his voice. Mina and Lacy also looked slightly downtrodden, but they quickly plastered smiles on their faces in an attempt to hide it.
"So who is you dad?" Lacy asked.
I froze slightly at the directness of the question, but I knew it was something I was going to have to answer eventually. I drew in a deep breath.
"My dad was Joe Lillet." I quietly said.
In an instant, Lacy, Mitchell and Mina were gaping at me. It seemed that some of my other half brothers and sisters hear what I said as they immediately came over and bombarded me with questions.
"THE Joe Lillet?" Fred asked.
"Oh my gods, he is so hot!" Phila squealed.
"So, the ugly kid is related to him?" Tanya thought out loud.
"The famous film actor and superstar and model is your father?" Jack said in disbelief.
"He's super rich!" Amorette squealed in a similar fashion to Phila.
"Didn't he disappear?" Amy questioned.
"I hear he went off the rails." Lucy replied to Amy's question.
"Where is he now?" Zelda demanded.
"What do you mean by was?" Mina asked, worry present in her voice.
Everyone else stopped asking their various questions or commenting on my father as they turned to face me. It was evident on their faces that they wanted an answer, although I couldn't tell if it was out of concern or general intrigue into the life of a superstar whom they could gossip about.
"He died the night I came to camp. He was killed by the hellhound that attacked me." I nonchalantly said.
Mina, Lacy and Mitchell looked generally sad, while the others looked a little bit miffed that they wouldn't get to meet their super hot idol. I didn't really care if that was the case.
"I'm sorry Sam. I shouldn't of pressed it." Lacy hung her head in shock at what she had forced me to reveal.
"Yeah, me too Sam. I'm sorry for bringing it up." Mitchell placed a hand on my shoulder in consolation.
"Don't be, it's not your faults." I smiled, cheering up the two guilty parties almost instantly.
"So what is he like?" Poppy inquired, a dreamy look in her eyes.
The world seemed to stop as I remembered my dad. My horrible, horrible dad.
(A/N: WARNING- CHILD ABUSE)
Flashback- 5 year old Sam
Third PoV
A young child sat in a corner of a dark and dingy living room. Broken beer bottles littered the place, as bottles once full of pills stood empty and idle. The child looked awful. His hair was long and dirty, his face was mashed, his body malnourished and there were a couple of bruises on his body. Tears escaped from the child's eyes as he huddled his knees closer to his chest, ignoring the beating he had gotten from the day before, and the day before that, and the day before that. He couldn't remember a time where he wasn't beaten. But he did know one thing though. It was his fault. It was always his fault. That's what daddy told him. And like daddy said 'Daddy is always right'.
He heard a muffled engine revving up the driveway, before hearing a crashing of boots on it. It was late night, and so the child knew his father was drunk. He was always drunk. He huddled tighter in the corner as the key slid into the lock of the front door. The child prayed for his mother to rescue him from his horrific situation, but he knew it was futile as she never came. She never would come.
The door slammed open and some heavy footprints came into the house. The cold air of the outside rushed in through the open door and seeped in through the door which acted as a barricade between the hallway where the footprints had just come from, and the young child who sat in the dark, dingy room. The child shuddered as the coldness pricked at his sore skin. Suddenly a loud crash erupted from the hallway, making the child jump. He hear loud swearing coming from his father as he realized that he must have knocked into the mirror in the hallway in his drunken actions. Quiet took hold of the house, as the miasma of the alcohol that was present on his father's breath, clothes and person soon drifted its way into the child's nose, making him retch. The child waited in gut-wrenching anticipation, until he heard the front-door click shut.
The door which had once barricaded the child from the outside world flew open, as a large, pudgy man came into view. He wobbled slightly as he threw off his coat onto the dirty couch.
"Boy!" he growled, causing the young child to jump up, shaking at his father's tone.
Although scared, he walked forward until he was in front of his father, knowing whatever awaited him was going to be ten times worse if he hid. He had made that mistake before. He would not again.
"Hewe daddy" the child meekly replied. A lisp had formed in his speech due to the mashing of his face which had shifted his mouth into an awkward and painful position.
"Why is the place not clean boy?" It was more of a statement than a question, as the boy knew his outcome wouldn't change depending on what type of answer he got.
"I'm sowwy daddy. I huwt too bad." the child shook out of his throat. Tears started to form in his eyes.
"YOU USELESS BOY." his father shouted, which made the child recoil. "You didn't do what I asked you to do. You know what that means." his father growled, a sadistic look of delight gleamed in his eyes.
"NO! Please daddy!" the child said, running up and trying to grab his father's leg.
This was a bad idea, as the pudgy man kicked him square in the chest, knocking the wind out of the child. Tears now cascaded down the child's face as he watched his father stumble out into the hallway, before returning back moments later with something in his right hand. A dangerous look formed on his face.
"From now on, every time you fail to listen to me..." he spit out before holding out a sharp piece of broken glass from the mirror which had been knocked over in the hallway. "I'll carve a mark into you as a show of your disobedience." . The man's speech was slurred, but his threat was evident.
"NO! PLEASE DADDY! I'M SOWWY!"I-" The child didn't finish as his father punched him across the face, sending the child spiraling onto the ground, which he landed on with a loud thud. His back ached from taking the impact- another injury which added on to his already growing list. His terrified eyes opened to see his large father standing over him.
His father looked down, seeing the child's small shirt, which barely covered his torso normally, up even higher up the child's person, exposing the skinny belly. Malicious intent appeared on the father's face as he leant down a carved a large vertical line down the child's belly with the broken shard of glass. Blood spilt out from the shallow cut, as the Child screamed and writhed in agony, his hands flexed in pain as his body arched. The cut wasn't deep, but would most certainly mar the child's pale skin with a nasty scar. The man looked down, a hint of revelation crossing his drunken face. Tears started to prick his eyes as anger boiled up inside of him.
"THIS IS YOUR FAULT BOY! YOU DESERVE THIS! SHE WOULDN'T OF LEFT! IT'S YOUR FAULT! THIS IS YOUR PUNISHMENT!" he shouted at his child, who was clearly more focused on the unimaginable pain which had overtaken him than his father's drunken words. "YOU DID THIS! SHE LEFT ME BECAUSE OF YOU! BECAUSE YOU WERE BORN! IT'S YOUR FAULT" he angrily continued. Tears flowed down his face as he looked at his broken child, but the anger still held him in its grasp.
"YOU'RE NO SON OF MINE SAM! SHE LEFT ME BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BORN!" he finally finished, before throwing the shard of glass down by the young child. HE then proceeded to stumble out of the dark and dingy room, leaving the child alone.
The child reached over for a dirty and ragged cloth and applied it on his injury to stop the bleeding, which did slow down eventually. The child's body shook as he sobbed quietly on the floor.
He cried. He cried for his life. He cried for a family. He cried for his mother.

(A/N:CHILD ABUSE OVER)
SAM PoV:
"Sam"
I stood, enthralled in my own memories as I loosely heard a remnant of Lacy's voice, calling me out.
"SAM"
I was shaken away from my memories by Mitchell who was rocking me - again - back and forth. I rolled my head and pushed out of his grasp.
"Are you okay Sam?" Mina asked, concern clear in her tone of voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking." I replied, shooting her a small smile. She seemed to grimace in response. My smiles would do that. I turned back to Mitchell. "What happened?"
"You were in a sort of trance for a good couple of minutes, but it seemed we shook you out of it." Mitchell responded. He opened his mouth to say more, but Drew entered the room.
"It's breakfast time!" she sternly decreed as she scowled at me, clearly having not gotten over what had happened only ten or so minutes prior.
My half-brothers and sisters moved to head out of the door, already gossiping about some thing or another, seemingly having forgotten about me entirely. Lacy and Mina shot me a worried look before following them. Mitchell clapped me on the back and pushed me forward towards the door. As we made to head through the door, an arm shot out in front of me.
"I want to talk to him." Drew stated, clearly not looking for any disagreement from either of us as she pointed at me. Mitchell shot me a concerned look, before turning to Drew. He nodded and left, leaving the two of us together. Drew shut the door behind him before standing in front of me, her hands on her hips as she attempted to make herself larger than me- most likely to try and intimidate me. I shrunk back slightly.
"Listen here you, I don't know what happened back there and I don't know why my charmspeak didn't work on you, but I doesn't matter, you will obey me or something bad will happen. Got it?" she threatened.
I nodded obediently, seeing a resemblance between her and my father. And I knew if I didn't listen it would spell the end. Satisfied with my frightened nodding, she turned on her heel and opened the door, proceeding to go to get food.
I stood and watched her go, uncertain as to what awaited me in my not so distant future.
Sorry I haven't uploaded for a while, I've had exams the past few weeks. But I am back now and should have a much longer chapter released on Friday.
As always, please leave a review. It really helps me improve my writing and plot.
See you in a bit!
