Hey everyone! I am sooooo sorry I haven't been uploading. I have to admit that when I was editing the whole thing I realized I didn't like the way the story was feeling or going. I hope I actually found all the spelling mistakes this time lol. I hope some of you are still liking the story and don't be afraid to comment on what you like or don't like!
The next day I woke up to Seb bursting through my tent.
"Wake up! We got to head out!" He was very chipper for the morning as he handed me a coffee mug. I took a sip of it while he walked over to my armor and dried it fully for me. I cooled my coffee down enough to chug it and let Seb help me with my armor.
"I noticed a couple mages missing from there beds and walking around the cold water last night." I blushed but didn't deny it. He probably put up wards around the camp like I did on the beach.
"It's fine, as long as you can smile at the end of it. But if he leaves you in the end I'll kill him myself." I gasped as he tightened the tops of my gloves to tight.
"Seb! watch it!" He apologized and fixed it and I rolled my eyes. "And I don't think that will be a problem twin. So whats up with you and Blackwall?" He laughed and turned to grab my scarf.
"He was one of my favorites. Just wanted to have a friend like you do I guess." His eyes where sad when he said it.
"I'm sorry if I haven't been spending as much time with you." He shook his head and smiled at me, a real genuine smile.
"Both of us are working to fix the future. I just hope your end is just a successful as mine will be."
"And what are you hoping my successful ending will be?" I needed to make sure me and him where on the same page.
"To not be left behind when he leaves to rip the Veil down. If you two are going to end up together I hope that he takes you with him. My successful ending is to try and change his mind." My heart throbbed in my chest at his words. "I didn't realize that you choose to try to save him at the end of your run throughs."
"You never asked. Plus it wouldn't be a happy ending for you if I choose to kill the man you end up with, even if he is going to destroy the world. Now come on, it's time to piss off the wolf and grab the Bull." We shared a matching wicked smiles as we walked out into the camp together. Everyone was already ready and just finishing packing when we joined them.
"Well Frosty, it's nice to see a smile on your face." Varric said as we walked up to them. Solas walked by and my smile widened a bit as I answered.
"I had some stuff to work on, I'm glad I have the people around me to help me through it." Solas winked at me from behind Varric and finished packing his horse but Varric didn't miss the way I blushed and turned away.
"Shit, I missed something. Lucky what the hell did I miss?" Seb shrugged and finished packing.
We all walked down to the beach to meet Bull and bumped into some Venatori at the same time. We were all more than happy to crack there skulls into the large stones of the beach.
"Chargers! Stand down. Krem howed we do?"
"Five or six wounded chief. No dead"
"That's what I like to hear. Let the throat cutters finish up, then break out the casks" Krem nodded and walked away to do his tasks as Seb approached Bull. I felt Solas straighten at the sight of him and remembered he hated the Qun. I couldn't help but wonder how this Solas will act with Bull compared to the one in the game.
"Trust me, if I can live with Vivianna stalking about you can handle the Iron Bull." I whispered to him and he stalked away to the rest of our group. Varric gave me a confused look and I just shrugged and walked over to him.
"So what do you think Varric? Think Bull will make a good addition to our rag tag group?" He chuckled and looked over at the two talking.
"Oh ya, he will fit right in. I bet Sera will have a field day when we get back." I had to laugh at that. I knew she would.
"So whats wrong with Chuckles?" I shrugged.
"I'm going to take a very educated guess and say I don't think he likes the Qun." Varric nodded in understanding just as Bull shouted across the beach
"Krem, tell the men to finish drinking on the road. The chargers just got hired!"
"But what about the casks chief? We just opened them up, with axes!"
"Find some way to seal them up. Your Tevinter right? Try blood magic." I could hear Varric and Cassandra gasping at his words while I tried hard not to laugh and I could tell Seb was too.
When we finally made it back to Haven the whole town was in a buzz over the newest recruits. I had to admit we were a very vastly different group. Solas didn't say much on the way home but still smiled at me when our eyes caught and ate meals with me. I was glad that he didn't seem as moody in real life as he was in the game.
The Tavern was no longer a quiet spot to hang out now that Sera, Bull and the chargers where with us. Most of us had to eat our meals and have our drinks in our homes if we really wanted to have some peace and quiet. For the week we were home before heading to Redcliffe I ate my meals over in Solas's cabin while Seb partied with everyone at the tavern.
Solas was a lot more like himself when we where alone and was slowly not being as moody with the decision to bring someone from the Qun into the group. I think it just made it harder for him to sneak around yet another spy. I felt the same when Bull was around me, I kept feeling like I was going to say something to make him think there was something off about me.
"Your brother tried to get me to make you stay here." He said while we where eating dinner, he was busy reading a book and didn't bother to look at me. "I told him I couldn't make you do anything although I would try." I rolled my eyes as I put my spoon down not so gently.
"I'm guessing this is your way of trying?" I said dryly and reached for his dish. He looked over his book and I froze as those molten silver eyes looked me up and down.
"I could try other things if you would like." I could feel the tips of my ears go red at hearing his voice dip to a lower register.
"Stop that." I got up and flicked his nose as I brought our plates to the counter on the other side of the room. We would always shamelessly flirt but never act on them all week and it was driving me mad. I took a couple deep breaths to calm my racing heart but this time it did nothing to calm the burning and growing need for his touch that was growing inside of me.
I almost jumped when I felt his arms go around my waist in a backwards hug. It would seem he was now seeing how far he could go with it. How did he move that fast and so quiet?
"Stop what ma' da' telban fen?" I felt his breath on my ear and I shivered and turned in his arms to face him. He didn't back up and I had to look up to see into his eyes. His mouth was dangerously close to mine and I could feel his breath ghost my skin. A fire was beginning to spread through my body as thoughts of how his lips would feel on mine filled my head.
"Don't start something you wont be able to finish." It was a challenge for the future and he seemed to want to take it.
"Shall I try to make you stay now? Will you stay behind if I ask and I try this?" One of his hands moved to grab my hips, forcefully pinning me against the counter while the other cupped my cheek to angle my face more higher. His head dipped and I closed my eyes silently begging him to kiss me already. I could barely feel his lips ghost over mine just as his cabin door opened.
"Solas do you have a moment?" Cullen didn't bother to knock or wait for an answer and walked in the moment he knocked, giving us no time to break apart. Solas didn't even bother to let me go as Cullens eyes met ours. His face went a bright red, redder than mine and he turned away quickly.
"I'm so sorry, should I come back later?" Solas smirked and went to answer but I bet him to it.
"I don't know Commander. If you come back later you might find us in a more compromising position then we are in right now." Solas's eyes danced with approval and Cullen started to stutter.
"I'm kidding Cullen! I was just leaving." I peeled myself from Solas's grasp and went to grab my cloak, leaving into the cold night air before he could say anything.
Seb was back by the time I made it back to our cabin and I walked over and punched him hard.
"Ouch Syb, what's your problem!" He rubbed his arm and flinched as I punched him again.
"Do not do something like that again. I already have a rocky relationship with Solas. I did not need you to give him a reason to jump me."
"You really didn't see that coming?" He said with humor in his voice and flinched again when I faked my last punch and walked over to my side of the room. "So what did he do?" He wiggled his brows at me and I made a disgusted noise as I stripped down to my underclothes and grabbed my make shift bedclothes. I had sown scraps of cotton I found to make shorts and a matching top.
"He almost kissed me. I really don't need to be thinking about his lips while fighting demons." Seb laughed and walked over to his bed and jumped in. I made a snowball with my magic and through it at him, hitting him square in the face.
"Hey! Uncalled for!" I stuck my tongue out at him. "And you do realize you're practically dating right? You're going to be thinking about way more then his lips in battle in the future." Seb wiggled his brows again at me and I blindly threw another snowball at him. He yelped as I hit my mark again and I couldn't help but laugh.
"So how are things with you and Jose?" I couldn't tell if his face was red from the snowball or embarrassment.
"You noticed that? It's going fine I guess. The women is harder to romance in real life then in the game. I keep getting so nervous talking to her." I laughed and sat down on my bed.
"Everything is easier in the game than here." We where quiet for a moment before I asked. "Do you think maybe we traveled back in time rather than to another world?" He sat up and looked at me wide eyed.
"Right? I was thinking about that for ages now. It just seems more likely that it was time travel than dimension hopping. But there isn't a fade or veil on earth..."
"Maybe Solas succeeds and tore it down, maybe we are so far back in time that there was no history of it. This world needed to be destroyed for ours to be born." Seb gasped and I looked up to see his shocked face.
"Sybel the lightning that activated the portal that sent us here was green. I never thought about it till now but there was no electronics in the cabin, no power line going to it so there wouldn't have been anything around to make the lightning green. Maybe it was Solas that sent us back in time to make sure we helped him make our world!" My eyes grew wide as the words sunk in.
"So you're saying that if this was time travel then Solas was in our time and was causing the weather to go crazy and sent us back to now. That's a big theory to be hoping on." He shrugged and laid back down.
"It makes more sense than us hallucinating this whole thing in some dirt basement." I rolled my eyes but didn't say anything else as I rolled over to look at the wall. Regardless of how we got here, we needed to fix everything. Better just to live our lives here than to keep wondering how we got here.
The next day we all walked down to the barn and readied the horses. Bull was in passing my stall and reached in his hand to pet my horse and got bit by Buttercup. I scolded the stubborn beast before turning to Bull.
"Aw what's wrong Bull? Scared of Buttercup?" I asked while handing her an apple.
"That thing's name is Buttercup? You got some sick sense of humor little boss, I'll give you that." I just smiled and pet her till she wasn't mad anymore and jumped up on her. I brought her outside because the amount of people leaving with us was causing a crowd. Finally able to breathe I spotted my brother walking down the path with Varric and Solas all packed and ready.
"Looks like someone is ready to get going." Seb called to me and I waved and steered my horse over to them.
"Well if someone wasn't falling into there porridge this morning they would have been able to get ready faster." I moved Buttercup to a walk beside them and gave Solas a smile.
"Well maybe I wouldn't have been so sleepy this morning if someone didn't throw a couple snowballs in my face last night. Took me forever to fall asleep." I rolled my eyes and tried not to snap back.
"Why did she throw the snow ball?" Seb gave me a mischievous look and I glared at him.
"I may have.." I threw another snowball at his face to shut him up and everyone laughed. He glared at me but got the message. Everyone finally got on there mounts and we started our journey to Redcliffe. Seb had ended up picking Bull and Cassandra for the time mission. Turns out it really didn't matter how many people came with us on missions. Solas made sure to keep by me in the back and away from Bull and now Dorian who was in the front with Seb. Varric seemed to be keeping a very close eye on the both of us since the storm coast and was writing down everything he seemed to think was a romantic gesture.
"Hey! Does anyone know what was wrong with Curly this morning? He was positively blushing after Solas joined us on the walk down." Varric asked the group and everyone in the front shook there heads, Seb stayed quiet in case I had another snowball.
"I can answer that question master Tethris. He walked in on me in a rather intimate moment last night." Solas didn't say any more, didn't need to because I started blushing and Varric went absolutely crazy writing in his book. What was with this Solas and wanting to egg him on?
Everything went as I thought at the castle. We went in, Liliana's spy's got in, Seb went up into a big poof of smoke and came back out a second later looking like he was about to puke. He got the mages to be a part of the Inquisition as full members and not slaves which made most of us cheer. When we where finally walking out of the castle and on our way to our camp I went and hugged him. He broke down and started to cry as I held him.
"Did you want to talk about it?" He let out a sob and gripped me tighter to him.
"You just grabbed Solas's hand and walked out the door. They had done such horrible things to you. You just winked at me and walked out." He couldn't say any more as his sobs ravaged through his body. I just held him tight until he calmed down.
It took a long time before he could walk into the camp and explain what happened to him and Dorian. It turns out I had walked out the large gates with the rest of the group to die and by him more time. Solas grabbed my hand while Seb talked, his face going paler and hand going tighter the farther into the story Seb went. I let go of Solas's hand and walked over to where my brother was sitting and knelt in front of him.
"I would do it again if it meant you could change the outcome. Even if the memories stayed with me for the rest of my life, I would do it again." Everyone murmured there agreement and I squeezed his hands. When the story was done being told everyone dug in to our supper in silence. I was sitting with Solas and trying to get him to eat more while I also picked at mine.
"ar'an ane eth" I said to him but he just shook his head
"ane ma?" I looked at him confused. Why was he only asking for my safety instead of his as well? Was this mission what finally got him to start going cold? I smirked as I put my lips to his ear.
"da' etunash." I whispered to him. He was so shocked he spit out his drink and everyone looked at us funny while Solas laughed. I grinned and tossed the rest of my food in to the fire.
"I'm heading to bed. Try not to get into any trouble while I'm passed out." Seb gave a small smile before I went into my tent.
The next morning we all headed out just as the sun made its way over the horizon. Everyone was still quiet and it was starting to get on my nerves. It seemed Bull was feeling the same way and I met his eye with a wink, he in return looked confused.
"So Bull, now that you seen the crazy things we must do are you second guessing your contract with us?"
"How so? In regards to the agreement I might ask for more money but I'm sure not going
to back down. I'm here to kill some Vents, no offense Krem." Krem just shook his head
"You say that like we haven't killed any Qunari." I gave a good laugh.
"First a tare in the sky then stopping the rebellion, dealing with time magic. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up dealing with a dragon or two." Cassandra flinched and the rest of our group turned to me. Seb just smiled, He knew what I was doing and so did Varric.
"Hey Seeker, didn't you kill a bunch of dragons?" Varric called out. That was all Bull needed to hear before he berated her with questions. That filled the air with talking for most of the trip back. I could hear Dorian in the back groaning about how Bull was a brute. Solas was too busy scribbling something down in a book to pay much attention to the chaos that I made.
Cassandra was shouting at Bull while he laughed at her, only fueled by Varric who kept throwing bits of embarrassing information at her. Seb was talking with Dorian and Krem about how much of a handful Bull was going to be. I smiled at the diverse group we had and caught Solas erasing a large portion of the paper he was working on. Buttercup moved closer to him like she could tell I wanted to see and I caught a glimpse of a face drawn on the page. It was mine, now with my mouth and bits around my eyes erased. I had thought he was writing down notes to later send to his spy's but it would seem he was only spying on my face. He noticed me looking and closed the book before I could look more at it. He gave me one of his devilish smirks.
"Sorry da' telban fen but you must not look at things that are not ready." I blushed at the new nickname and looked away from his eyes. I still didn't know if I should actually go with my heart and be with him. He seemed completely different from the games and it felt like I was going in blind like I didn't know what would happen in the future. I knew I would have to have an answer soon because we where almost home and almost ready to close the breach. Soon we would be at Skyhold and I knew this relationship, what ever it was would bloom further than I think I am ready for. I think It would be better to talk it over with someone I trust but didn't think I could talk to Seb about it. Maybe Lana would like to take the day off and chat with her when I get home.
It was an hour until sundown when they got back to Haven and I dismounted and brushed Buttercup as quick as I could.
"Would you like to join me this evening?" Solas's voice drifted to me from the entrance to the stall I was in.
"I'm sorry, I wanted to catch up with Lana." He looked a little sad but gave me a smile as he walked up to me and kissed the top of my head.
"You truly are a good person." He walked out of the stall and out of the barn without another word or look. I was so shocked that I didn't know how to react. I just picked up the rest of my equipment and cleaned up the stall. I finally found Lana unpacking our travel bags in our cabin a little while later.
"Lana, do you think you could take the evening off?" She looked up at me with a soft smile. It would seem she was no longer the scared elf girl I first met.
"Of course Sybel. Anything for you." I grabbed her one of my spare cloaks and linked my arm with her as we walked out the door. We walked around in a slow stroll and took in the atmosphere of the happy little town.
"I need advice but I don't know how to ask." I bit my lip and looked at her. She really did look like she was doing better in the short time we have had there. Her face was less guarded and she seemed to have put on a couple healthy pounds. There was also a light in her eyes that wasn't there before we left.
"If you do not wish for me to know the subject then maybe start with the explanation then the question. I may not have the answer but maybe I can help." I took a deep breath. This was going to be harder than if I asked Seb.
"I'm in a predicament... with a man." Lana's eyes went wide and she giggled. "I do not know if I should... let things take there course or to stop and try to remain friends. I have a sneaking suspicion it will not end in the way I hope, but I am also hopeful that maybe it won't end at all."
"So what is this man like?" Lana asked and I had to word the next sentence even more vague so she couldn't tell who he was.
"He's strong willed, really smart, he's always making me smile and even likes my worst quality's. He has a lot going on that he will never mention or complain about to me and if
he does he words it in the most vague way. Holds true to his values no matter how much someone tests him..." I was starting to ramble when we made a full loop of the town. I led her in another loop while she talked.
"At first I thought you where talking about a human but now I know who you are talking about." There was a twinkle in her eye. "Does this person happen to be an elf in your group that isn't your brother." I blushed and cursed myself. She found it out a lot quicker than I thought. "Don't worry Sybel, I would never tell anyone. There are a lot of servants who have seen some of your... encounters with him and put two and two together. A lot have been rooting for you two to end up together." She smiled and led me past Solas's house and I didn't miss the look she gave it as she giggled. It hadn't occurred to me that Lana might be one of his spy's. It would be the perfect place to place one. Maybe Solas would end up offering her a position with his group once Seb was the inquisitor, if he didn't already.
"So what should I do?" She put her hand on her chin and thought for a moment.
"Whats holding you back?" I looked down at my feet and kicked the snow.
"I've... I've never been in a relationship before and I'm afraid it will end badly."
"I won't pretend to know or understand your position or anyone else's but it's easy to see you like him. You should go for it. Life is too short and crazy not to be with the people you care about." She gave me a big smile. "You where the one who taught me that miracles happen. Maybe it won't end badly and you will get your happy ever after. Gods knows you deserve it." I gave her hand a squeeze and pulled her to the tavern.
"Alright, enough serious talk, let's get some drinks before I have to help my brother close the breach." She giggled and followed me into the tavern.
The tavern was loud and over crowded with not only Bulls chargers but Templars and mages trying to get a drink in before tomorrows journey. I grabbed Lana's hand and weaved into the crowd until we made it to the bar to order our drinks. After grabbing our glasses we squeezed back into the crowd till we found a corner in the back with a table someone had just vacated.
"We better sit before someone else takes this spot." Lana nodded and sat across from
me while sipping on her wine. It was the perfect spot to speak privately with all the people talking so loudly.
"So when did you know you liked Solas?" I choked on my wine and stared at her wide-eyed. Seb's bluntness must be wearing off on her. I had to smile at her even if the question gave me butterfly's. She really was changing into the person she was meant to be if she was daring enough to ask.
"I've been fighting it for a while now, I couldn't tell you the exact moment though. I keep getting this strange feeling like I've known him forever. Like something clicked when I seen him for the first time. I know it sounds mushy but that's what I feel." I could feel the blush creeping up my cheeks and into my pointed ears. Lana just sat there smiling at me with a dazzling smile that reached her light blue eyes.
"I think it sounds lovely. I've never felt like that with anyone myself, but I can see how he makes you feel. Who knows, You two might be soul mates." I scoffed and waved the idea off.
"My life has been nothing but misery and pain Lana. If there where gods out there they would never give me something like that. Would never give me any happiness and if they did they would rip it from me the moment I got it. Solas is so much more important in this world than I am..." I froze and waited for her response. I wish I could tell Lana who he was if she didn't already know but I wouldn't know where to begin.
"You are important to me." My head shot up to find a blush plastered on her cheeks.
"I keep forgetting what its like to have people care about me. I'm sorry Lana, I didn't mean to put you in the position to remind me." I smiled at her to show her it was fine and took a small sip of my wine. We chatted for a few minutes before I felt the hair on the back of my neck rise. I could see in my mind who was looking at me and smiled before turning in my chair to lock eyes with Solas who was at the bar staring at me.
"Lana, would you like another?" She nodded and thanked me before I stood and weaved my way back to the bar. Solas had his back to me and was talking to an elf who had a serious face. He was either talking to one of his spies or arguing with a local and I had my money on the former so I stood right behind him and leaned on the bar to shout my order to the bar keep. I felt him tense at the closeness of my voice and dismiss the elf quickly.
"I did not expect you to come over to order drink when you have a full one." I could hear the displeasure in his voice at almost being caught and decided to play dumb and downed my glass of wine in one gulp.
"Oh look, it's empty. Looks like I need a new one now." I watched as he laughed but could see the emotion didn't reach his eyes.
"You might want to slow down or you won't be able to go tomorrow." The bar keep handed me my drinks and I told him to get me another and put it on my tab before turning back to Solas.
"Are you going to make me stay?" A smile played on my lips as his face changed. The bar keep dropped the next drink down, it was a shot of what ever there strongest hard liquor was and I downed it in one quick motion before taking my wine and swirled it. Solas's face was priceless. His eye dilated and I watched as he tried to keep his breathing stead but the thing that got me was the blush that crept up his face. Never before had I witnessed this man blush. He leaned forward till his lips brushed my ears and whispered to me.
"Da' etunash." I laughed as he backed up and ordered his own drink. I was about to ask him a question when a vision flashed into my mind. A vision of Lana being harassed.
Solas turned back with his glass and watched as my face contorted in rage and the edges of my eyes bled red. I could barely hear him call out my name as I turned with my drinks in my hand and shoved everyone out of my way till I got back to my table.
"And who are you here with little knife ear?"
"Ya, I didn't know servants where allowed in here to drink. Are you drinking on the job?"
I could feel the rage trying to take over but I didn't want to kill them, no I wanted to make them hurt for scaring my friend. I could see Lana shrinking in her chair in fear from one of the men leaning down close to her face, the other was sitting in my chair. She seemed to gain some of her courage just before her eyes met mine.
"I think you should leave now, my friend is back and she doesn't like when people bug her friends." Both templar's laughed before turning to see me and then there smiles grew wider.
"Oh this little thing? She doesn't scare us."
"Ya, she's just the Heralds whore of a sister. What could she do to us? Hey little knife ear! You should join us for the night with your friend. We can make it worth your while." They howled with laughter as I slowly walked over to Lana and handed her both our drinks.
"You have ten seconds to vacate the area before I kick your asses." My voice was shaking but not from fear, oh no it was rage that my voice shook with but they took it as fear.
"Aw is the little elf scared of us? What are you going to do little mage? You have no staff!" They roared with laughter again and just before the one in my chair was able to grab me, my fist flew out to his stomach and I watched as he doubled over in pain. I grabbed his head and smashed it down onto my knee before kicking him in the chest, I watched as he flew back, right into Bull.
"Nice little boss! Now get the other one! We will handle this little punk!" I smiled at Bull and turned to find the other one cowering beside Lana, who was smiling proudly at me.
"Wait! You don't need to do anything! I'll leave, I promise."
"I don't think that is an option anymore my friend." I watched as Solas slid into my seat with a wicked smile. It would seem he was enjoying the show.
"And how do you think I should handle this one Solas?" He took a slow drink from his glass as he watched the poor templar shake in fear.
"He has such perfect teeth to charm the ladies with." He took another drink from his wine before turning his molten silver eyes on me. "Ver esh'ala tor." I could feel a smile tug on my lips as I turned to the shaking templar and lifter my hand.
"I neral." I closed my fingers into a fist and felt my magic shoot to the templar and rip out hit teeth with perfect accuracy. All the teeth started to fall from his mouth as blood began to pour down his lips and chin. I waved my hand in his direction and healed the wounds so there was no way of fixing the damage.
"Now leave before I decide to yank something else out of your body." I made a show of looking down at his trousers and watched as he grabbed his teeth and bolted with his friend out the door.
"Wow little boss. That was a little bit crazy but I'm not going to disprove. I'll go warn your brother he might have Cullen yelling at him later. Enjoy your night." He clapped his hand on my shoulder before turning back into the crowd. I sighed and turned to Lana and Solas to find a third chair placed at the table. I took my seat and grabbed my glass from my friend with a thanks.
"I don't know why you are thanking me, that was morbidly amazing!" I hid my smile behind my glass and turned to look at Solas, he was already looking at me with a strange look.
"Out with it." I said, taking a big gulp from my glass.
"I must admit I think we got a little carried away. I am a little shocked you did what I told you to." I shrugged and played with the end of my braid.
"You are someone I trust, you gave an order and I followed it." His face went a bit pale at my words. I silently cursed myself before taking a different approach. "You once said we were both monsters. I felt the order was justified and followed through."
"Would you ever follow an order to kill someone?" His eyes had changed to resemble hard steel.
"It all depends on the situation. Order me to kill Lana or Seb and I would refuse. Order me to kill a couple templar's who think every female is there property and I'll do it in a heart beat."
"And if someone you trust ordered you to kill someone who would destroy the world to make a new one?" I froze and looking into his eyes. I could feel the intensity in his stare and sipped my drink to buy myself more time to answer. At first glace it would seem he was talking about who ripped the sky apart but I could tell he was talking about himself. I needed to be very careful.
"I wouldn't do it."
"And why would you refuse?" I made sure to keep eye contact with him the entire time as I explained.
"I've already told you that I hate this world enough to rip it down myself. Who ever decides they want to or has the power to do so must have a good reason. Plus you mentioned making a new world. I would give everything I have to help build a better world than fix this one." I could see Lana out of the corner of my eye fidget in her seat and wondered again if my friend had already joined him.
"That is... an interesting take on things. Would you still back down from the order and join such a cause if your brother was to make the order, if he was against the idea?" I could feel Lana's shock at the boldness of the question, but I didn't back down.
"Amazingly, me and Seb already had such a conversation."
"Oh really? About this very question?"
"Something like it."
"And what did he say." Solas was so still as he waited for me to answer that it almost made me laugh.
"We both know he will die from the mark in his hand. He told me he would never make such an order and if the world was to be destroyed then he hopes I would be alive to see a new world. Strange the conversations you can have once you realize someone is currently trying to destroy it." Solas looked away and out in the crowd like he was looking for my brother to prove me a liar. "My brother only wishes that I live long enough to enjoy life before I join him in the afterlife. Although this conversation is only a what if and sadly will never happen. I already told Lana how I know my life will be the same as it always is. If there where gods out there they would never give me the happiness I wish for, I have to fight for it myself." His head snapped to me again with a look of shock but it was quickly replaced with his mask.

"If I where one of the gods I would give you the happiness you wished for." I gave him a small smile before getting up from my chair.
"If you were a god Solas, I would thank you. You already give me a bit of happiness." I went to leave but he grabbed my hand.
"If I where a god, would you be afraid. Would you... would you understand." I turned to him when I heard the desperation in his voice and it broke a small part of me to hear.
"You have never given me a reason to fear you Solas, and if you where a God I would say we make a pretty good team." I gave him a wink before bidding Lana goodnight and walked out of the tavern. I smiled up to the sky as I walked back to the cabin and enjoyed the cool air as it stung my heated cheeks. With any luck my words to him would have him telling me his secret before I outed myself out.
