Sitting across from each other in the little hut, Kouga and Kagome sat in silence. Kagome gave Kouga a towel to dry off and then poured some tea.

"Kouga...are you ok? You don't look like yourself."

"I should be asking you that. Why are you out here alone instead of in the village."

"I have too many memories... especially bad ones and I couldn't take being there anymore." Wiping away her tears.

"Tell me what happened. I need to know."

Silence fell between them.

"Only if you will tell me what happened to you."

Kouga knew he couldn't avoid it and would tell her but she was suffering and he needed to know why.

"Yeah, sure after you tell me first."

As Kagome was about to speak, her stomach came to life making it know she was hungry.

With her embarrassed face "how about I make us some food first." getting up.

Kouga chuckled at her slight embarrassment "let me help you. Deer or fish?"

Kagome gave a little smile "deer sounds good but you…" as Kouga took off while she was talking.

'Same Kouga! Let me get to making some rice and vegetables that I harvested this morning.' as she placed a hand on her tummy.

After a silent but delicious meal, Kagome poured Kouga some wine she made with the rare berries that grew only within that area.

"I see you finally made the wine from these berries. Tastes amazing and very strong." taking a big gulp. "Now that you're fed, how about you talk to me."

Pulling a fur blanket over herself, Kagome took a deep breath knowing she was going to relive the last six months since she tried so hard to put it behind her.
