'My poor Kitty.' Ladybug watched her partner's eyes convey conflicting emotions as they ran towards their destination.

"What do we call you by the way?" Chat asked from one side of their son as Ladybug flanked the other. Ladybug knew the blonde was going to struggle when they arrived at his home, and the heroine was aware that Chat's light tone was only part of his mask to hide his emotions.

Hugo smiled, "Emperor, Emma thought it was fitting."

"Too much information!"

"Sorry Ma-Ladybug."

Although Emperor was giving up way too much information about the future, Ladybug was relieved to know that everything seemed to be working out okay. The purple suit her son donned was homage to that, and by the looks of it, they were right on track to complete their mission as they should. Ladybug glanced at her partner to see the sad smile on his face and she could sense how much turmoil Chat was in after finding out his father was Hawkmoth, but still, they knew that the future held hope.

'At least we have a positive to work towards.'

Landing on an adjacent rooftop, Emperor stood and stopped his parents from continuing, "I have to stay out here, grandpa gave me the words which I need to say to convince him that we can work together." The heroes nodded at him and he wrapped them in a hug, "it's almost over, and then we can bring grandma back and start anew."

"Be careful Emperor," Ladybug smiled and left the embrace, leaving Chat to hug his son.

"We'll be back out soon." Chat whispered with a hint of hope.

"I know."

As Ladybug and Chat Noir leaped into the grounds of the mansion, the red and black spotted heroine stopped and snagged her partner's clawed hand. "Are you ready for this?" She questioned as he turned to face her fully while the building to their left shook with a loud bang.

They both winced slightly before the black clad hero brought her in quickly for a tight embrace, nuzzling his face into her hair as he spoke with anguish, "just, catch me, please… when this is over…"

"Always Kitty."

Without either of them noticing, a green butterfly landed on Chat's ring, causing the sound of his son's voice to echo in his mind.

"Papa, it will all be okay, I promise…"

As the young man's body stilled when the butterfly made it's connection, Ladybug leaned back to peer up at her partner to enquire why he had suddenly froze. Seeing the green outline symbolising the link, Ladybug glanced back to where her son from the future stood atop of the building looking down at them with a new addition standing next to him. The heroine looked back to her partner to see him smiling sadly.

"Thank you Hugo," he nodded with his eyes closed.

"You told me you would struggle with this part, so I just thought I'd connect with you like this."

"What's going on?" Ladybug enquired.

Chat swallowed, "he's just giving me some reassurance."

Ladybug wrapped her arms back around her partner.

"It's time," Chat whispered, "Su-Han has just arrived and it seems he's already aware of the plan."

"Come on then Minou," Ladybug leaned away but held on to his clawed hand tightly, "let's sort out the Akuma before any more damage can be done."

The green butterfly was still surrounding Chat's mask and he nodded and looked back to where Emperor and Su-Han stood waiting. "He says you need to call your lucky charm now and that it is Kagami's ring that is tainted."

She nodded in understanding and pulled out her yo-yo to summon her lucky charm while the green butterfly left Chat's ring and fluttered off into the house. A large key fell into Ladybug's hands and her brow furrowed as to how it would be used, but Chat Noir simply shrugged with a lopsided smile before they began making their way into the house using the damaged front doors.

After finding an Akumatised Kagami standing threateningly over a cowering Nathalie, the duo quickly managed to neutralise her and reset the damage done to the Agreste Mansion. The holes in the walls and the floors had made it perfectly clear where she was heading, but Nathalie's interference had stopped the victim from actually entering the lair: Chat was now definitely aware of who Mayura was under the mask.

He momentarily wondered if his bodyguard had any role to play in the dysfunctionality that plagued his family.

Then he quickly remembered that the Gorilla was a sweetheart with an infinite love of superhero figurines and figured he would have played no part in this family lifestyle.

"Ladybug? Chat Noir?" Kagami gingerly got to her feet once the Miraculous Ladybug charm had worked it's magic. "What's... where am I?"

Chat placed a comforting hand on her shoulder where they stood in the middle of his father's office, "you were Akumatised Kagami."

The Japanese teen looked at the floor with shame as she held herself and avoided the heroes' gazes. "I am sorry. I let my emotions get the better of me, I promise it will not happen again."

An Akumatised Kagami Tsurugi had stunned the aging terrorist when he attempted to retract the tainted butterfly and the teen refused to let it go: Hawkmoth had made a big error in assuming what had caused Kagami's heartache. He knew she was an amazing target with endless potential, but the fact the Japanese girl was so adamant on her target being his civilian form was less than ideal. It had been obvious that he was not going to have any power over her as soon as she shut him out of her thoughts, and the villain was powerless to stop her as another problem presented itself.

one small thing the man had been thankful for however was the fact that Kagami had not been targeting his son.

In his lair, Hawkmoth stood motionless as the fight above, unknowingly to him, wrapped up and the damage to his home was repaired. There was a green mist causing him to panic as it descended over his eyes and the villain felt his staff throb with sickeningly joyous positive energy. He was refusing to allow the voice to speak within his mind, going as far as chanting 'la la la la laaa' in his head while the person on the other end was beginning to lose their patience with his uncharacteristically childish behaviour.

"Hawkmoth, I am-"

'La la la-'

"Hawkmoth, please-"

'La la la-'

"For the love of all that is Miraculous-"

'La la la-'

"Jean Clement Martin! Will you stop being so stubborn and just listen to me please?"

Hawkmoth stilled, 'what did you call me?"

"You heard," the voice in his head preceded an obvious snort, "there's only two people left who know about your real name, and neither of you have told me that little secret yet."

'Who are you?'

"Gabriel Agreste, I am Emperor, and Ladybug and Chat Noir are upstairs waiting for your appearance."
