Hermione went back to her friends in the Great Hall and took her seat in a huff beside Ginny. She watched as Theo entered the Great Hall too just a few seconds later and he winked at Hermione while making his way to the Slytherin Table, which made Hermione blush a little but muttered something about insufferablegit.
"I don't think I will be able to survive this year" Hermione said in annoyance.
"Why do you say that?" Ginny asked turning her head towards her friend.
"What happened?" Ron and Harry asked at the same time.
"Theodre freaking Nott happened" Hermione said clenching her jaw
"What about him?" Ron asked narrowing his eyes at her.
"He's been acting like a total jerk to me since day one" Hermione replied.
"I don't think there's anything new in that" Harry shrugged.
"Yes, I mean he's always been a jerk to me….to us. But this year he's acting a little weird. He hasn't called me a mudblood but he's still being a prat in a…..weird way."
"You know them, Hermione. Slytherins have always been bastards. We just have to ignore them like we do always" Harry said giving her a smile.
"Yes, Hermione. Relax a bit. You can't ruin your mood for some morons" Ginny said keeping a hand on her shoulder.
Hermione managed to give them a smile assuring them that she will be ok but she internally was screaming. She stood up and turned when Ron interrupted her.
"Where the hell are you going now?" Ron asked looking at her in confusion.
"Oh, this. I have to lead the first years to their respective dorms. You know, prefect duties" She reminded him. Ron gave a nod in the response and returned to his meal.
She walked to all the first years who were standing in a row in the front. They were so busy looking around the castle that they didn't even notice Hermione. Although something or someone brushed her elbows. It was Theo. Hermione cursed him in her mind and gave him a deadly glare to which he responded with a grin. She was thinking of all the possible ways to kill him. Maybe she could push him off the Astronomy Tower during their patrols or poison his food or -
"I know you love staring at me, Granger but we really have to perform our duties" He said with a smirk.
Hermione realized that she was staring at him as quickly turned her head towards the students.
"Ok, first years" Hermione cleared her throat. "We are your prefects and you all will obey to everything we say. I think Headmistress already told you all which places are forbidden. Remember, if any of you break any law, we are capable of deducting your house points. Clear?"
Everyone nodded at Hermione's words.
"Wow you are awesome at lecturing." Theo smirked.
"I'm awesome even at hexing people. Shut the hell up and do your work" Hermione gave him a fake smile. He put up his hands in surrender.
"Girls follow me" Hermione announced.
"And boys follow me" Theo announced simultaneously.
Hermione took the students to their respective dorms and told them about the room arrangements and the rules. After that, she herself started marching back to her dorm. On the way, she recalled that she had to borrow a book on Charms from the library. The book was in the restricted section and hence she went to Professor Filtwik for is permission.
"Professor, may I come in?" Hermione knocked at her professor's door.
"Yes, yes, Miss Granger. Come in" Professor Filtwik welcomed her with a smile. "How can I help you, my dear?"
"Professor, I needed a book to learn advanced Charms but it is in restricted section so I need your permission. Can you please a sign the permission?"
"Of course, child. I'm delighted that you are taking your studies so seriously" He took the parchment from her hand and signed it. "Here you go"
"Thank you so much, Professor" Hermione thanked him and left for the library.
She entered the library and spotted Madame Pince sitting on her desk. She went straight to her and showed her the parchment. Madame Pince gave her permission to go to the restricted section and take the book. Hermione thanked her and started walking towards the restricted section. As soon as she got closer to the section, she heard some voices but people weren't allowed there. She thought to look into the matter as she was the prefect. She moved forwards and the sounds grew louder. She was about to turn to the left and now the sound grew too clear. It seemed like someone was moaning. Hermione wasn't liking this already. As soon as she turned left, she saw what she wasn't supposed to see – heck she didn't want to see this. Two people were kissing each other and that too fiercely. And the two people were none other than Draco fucking Malfoy and Pansy freaking Parkinson. Pansy jumped away from Draco at the sight of Hermione. Hermione wasn't sure what she should do.
"What the fuck, Mudblood?" Pansy shouted furiously. "Go somewhere else and study. Can't you see we were busy?"
"How dare you talk to me like that? And as a matter, you should be the one who should get her arse somewhere else!" Hermione shouted back.
Draco didn't speak anything. He was just standing still not giving a damn about anything. His expressions were cool like nothing had happened.
"How dare you talk to me like that, you stupid bit-"
"What is happening here?" Madame Pince came running. "What are two doing here?" She pointed to Draco and Pancy.
"Professor we-" Pansy couldn't think of any excuse.
"Snogging my boyfriend" Hermione completed Pansy's sentence. "Why so afraid Parkinson?"
Pansy gave a deadly glare towards Hermione and Draco just stared at Hermione.
"You both. Leave. Now!" Madame Pince said to both the Slytherins.
Both of them left the spot in annoyance though Pansy looked more annoyed. "You'll pay for that, mudblood" Pansy was able to spit out these words to Hermione before leaving.
Hermione looked at her in a disgusted way. She took her book and left the library herself. She went up to her dorm as quickly as possible. She changed her clothes and fell on her bed. It had been a long day.
In the Slytherin Dormitory
Draco and Pansy entered their dorm together and found Blaise and Theo sitting on the couch. Blaise was doing something with his wand and Theo was reading something. Pansy overthrew the cloth kept on the couch and took threat for herself. Draco took the seat beside Theo.
"What happened, Pansy? Cat got your tongue?" Blaise asked raising his eyebrow at her act.
"Did I mention that I loathe Granger?" Pansy asked in annoyance and both the boys got the basic idea of what happened. "She is a total bitch. First she interrupted Draco and me and then she was able to manipulate Pince to scold us"
"That explains your mood" Theo chuckled.
Pansy took the nearby cushion and threw it at Theo.
"Don't worry, Pansy. We can do that later" Draco assured her which she responded with a nod.
"Hey, so you all are joining the Slytherin Party, tomorrow?" Blaise asked to his friends.
"Yes. I'm so excited" Pansy exclaimed in joy. Her mood just changed in a snap.
"Theo? Draco?"
"I wouldn't miss it" Theo winked.
"Yeah I will join" Draco replied to the question emotionlessly.
"Perfect. Can't wait for tomorrow" Blaise said grinning.
