I don't own Generator Rex, or any of YellowAngela's ocs. I only own Rosie and Gizmo :)
This might be the most dangerous thing that Rosie has ever done in her life. She could feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins and looked around every corner of the house. The lights were off and no one dare made a noise.
The only weapon Rosie had was a Nerf gun and a helmet on her head.
Six and Rebecca had to go back to Providence to meet with Caesar. He's making progress as each day goes by. Caesar was almost done building a machine to help Rosie travel back to her universe. But he needs Rebecca's help to figure out the right equation to help determine that universe Rosie came from.
So Kenji is left to babysit his sisters.
Jade was the one to suggest that they play with their Nerf guns. However, Jasmine warn her siblings to not break something since they would get in trouble if they weren't careful. The last thing they need is for their parents to ground them again.
Rosie silently walked down the stairs and flinched when she stepped on a rubber ducky. She heard someone landed behind and Jade grinned.
"It's Nerf or nothing." Jade quietly told her and aimed the Nerf gun at Rosie's back and started to fire at her. Rosie squealed when she felt the Styrofoam bullets hitting her back.
Rosie jogged down the stairs and hurried to the living room but Jade kept going with the assault.
"I give up! I surrender! Ow!" Rosie said and covered her head as she curled up in a ball.
Jade ceased her fire and smiled. "Sorry Rosie but no one can defeat me at this game."
Suddenly Jade got hit at the back of her head and she turned to glared at Kenji.
"Hey!" Jade growled and Kenji said, "Don't get upset with me. You can't expect to celebrate early when you have one more player left standing."
Jasmine walked to the living room as she said, "That's enough from the both of you. Kenji wins this time. Now, we need to start doing some homework before mom and dad get home."
Kenji and Jade had to clean up the mess they made while Rosie opened the back door for Gizmo to do his business. She smiled when Gizmo ran outside at the backyard and started to sniff around.
"Jasmine, do you have any spare books for me to read?" Rosie asked as she walked back inside.
Jasmine pulled out a book from her backpack, "I did pick this out at the library a few days ago. I'm sure you'll like this one."
Rosie grabbed the book from Jasmine's hands and read the title, "The Maze Runner?"
"It's a good book so far. I'm almost halfway done with reading it and it's so great." Jasmine smiled and Rosie turned to the first page as she sat down with the rest of the kids on the couch. Kenji was working on his Calculus homework, Jasmine was studying her U.S. history notes for her test next week, and Jade was working on her study guide for English class.
They were already in the zone and nothing was distracting them.
Rosie smiled at them and started to read the book.
The kids were busy with their own thing and they only talked to each other when they need a spare pencil or a highlighter. Gizmo started to bark as he wanted to be let back in. Rosie got up from the couch and walked to the backdoor with the book in her hands. After Rosie opened the door for her dog, she was startled when the book phased through her hands.
The book hit the ground with a loud thud and that made Kenji, Jasmine and Jade all look up at Rosie.
"Are you okay?" Jasmine asked and Rosie answered, "Yeah, I'm fine. It just slipped."
Gizmo hurried to the book and grabbed it with his mouth. He went to Rosie and nudge the book on her leg. Rosie retrieve the book and sat back down on the couch. She started reading a book again.
Kenji, Jasmine, and Jade were glancing at each other and wondering if they would try talking to her. Jasmine finished studying her notes and she got up. She went to sit down next to Rosie.
"Got any questions to ask me?" Jasmine asked.
Rosie was looking through a few sentences, "I need some help trying to figure out some words. Mom would always tell me to either look up the words in a dictionary or use my context clues."
"I can help you if you want." Jasmine offered and Rosie looked at him. She started to smile and replied, "I would like that."
"I can't believe we're actually doing this." Kenji remarked when he helped Violeta and Rafael set up a small tent.
"At least we're not doing this in the middle of the woods. Besides, what's the big deal? We're at the back of our backyard." Violeta told him and watched as Rafael was playing fetch with Gizmo.
Jasmine and Jade were inside the house helping Circe with making some snacks. Rex was outside with the rest of them and help with setting up another tent. Rosie was busy getting the marshmallows, chocolates, and graham crackers for later.
"The last time we did a camp out, your dad tried to scare us." Kenji remind her.
Violeta smiled, "But it was a fun scare. He tried to scare us by pretending to be Slender Man. It wasn't that scary when dad decides to use Uncle Six's suit."
Kenji didn't replied but he did fondly remember that day.
The sun was slowly setting and Circe turned on the back porch lights. She held a small tray of sliced apples, oranges, carrots and celery.
"Alright kids. Time for a break. I've brought some snacks." Circe told everyone and the kids immediately finished what they were doing.
They walked to Circe and everyone was settling down on the ground to chat and eat their snacks.
Rex and Circe went back inside the house and watch the kids from the window.
"Do you think they'll find anything in Siberia?" Circe asked.
Rex replied, "I hope so. Holiday noticed some large level of nanite energies from an area in Siberia. It almost matches the same level of energy when Rosie first came along to this universe. Maybe they'll find something."
Back at the backyard, the kids were eating the snacks as they started talking.
Rafael gave Gizmo some apples to munch on them. Rosie was eating some carrots and asked, "Does anyone have any scary stories that they want to share?"
"I've got nothing." Jade admitted.
Rafael smiled, "I've got a story."
Kenji, Jasmine, and Jade were looking at each other, they weren't sure if Raffy would tell a scary story. Violeta on the other hand, she smiled and said, "Go for it hermano. Show them that you can tell a good story."
Everyone got into a comfortable position and Gizmo immediately lay his head on Rosie's lap and relaxed.
Rafael stood behind the small camp fire to make things suspenseful.
"Alright, where do I begin?" Rafael wondered and tried to remember the story that one of his classmates was telling him during recess.
Jasmine helped Rosie make some smores as they handed them to Violeta, Jade, and Kenji. Rafael started to remember the whole story and started to talk.
"Okay. It all started when a young girl had to stay home alone because her parents are going out of town for the whole day. She wasn't scare because she had her dog to keep her company." Rafael began.
Gizmo started to bark loudly when Rafael mentioned the word dog. Rosie had to give Gizmo more apples to get him to calm down.
Rafael continued, "Before the girl turned off the TV, she saw a story about a dangerous serial killer on the loose in the area. She decides to lock all the doors and windows before she went to bed. Her dog was under her bed and would lick her hand to calm her down. Eventually, the girl fell to sleep."
"This is getting interesting." Jade told Jasmine and Kenji said, "It's not that scary."
"Please, you're going to stay up all night after this." Jade rolled her eyes until Violeta had to hush them.
"What happened next?" Rosie whispered and hugged Gizmo tightly.
Rafael began to lower his tone for the suspense.
He added, "She woke up to the sound of dripping coming from the bathroom. Obviously, the girl was scared to get out of bed, so she reaches her hand down to the floor for her dog to give a reassuring lick on her hand. Pretty soon, the girl went back to sleep and woke up the next morning."
Rosie bit her lip nervously and asked, "A-And then what?"
"Are you sure you want to know?" Rafael asked and smiled innocently.
Violeta said, "Come on Raffy. Tell us the ending."
Rafael shrugs and said, "No one knows, there's many endings to the story. Supposedly the parents came back in the morning and the girl went to the bathroom to check the sink. She saw the mirror had something written on blood, humans can lick too. We never know if the killer was found or if the girl got killed."
"I'm sure there's a good ending. Maybe the killer left in the morning after leaving the note." Rosie whispered.
Kenji frowned, "Not all stories get good endings."
"Name a few stories where they have a sad or bad ending." Rosie asked.
Jade remarked, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. I didn't like how Katniss did everything just to save and protect Prim and she died at the end."
Jasmine added, "At least there was a little ray of hope and light left for Katniss. But Of Mice and Men was a tragic ending."
"Try Bridge to Terabithia. I was so upset to find out what happened to Leslie." Violeta sigh.
Kenji immediately got up and started to stretch. "Come on everyone. We better get to bed."
The kids started to clean up the mess and put the tray in the kitchen and put the trash away. Kenji, Jasmine, and Jade went to their own tent, Violeta and Rafael went to other tent, Rosie and Gizmo went to the last tent in the backyard.
"Good night everyone." Rosie told them.
"Good night."
"Night."
"Sweet dreams."
"See you in the morning!"
Later in the night, Circe quietly walked out to the backyard to check on the kids. She carefully went to the tent that her kids are in.
After Circe unzip the entrance of the tent, she peeked inside.
Violeta was curled up in the sleeping bag as she was sleeping peacefully. Rafael snored quietly and was sleep on his stomach.
Circe smiled softly at them and exit the tent. She zipped it back up and went to check the tent that Kenji, Jasmine and Jade were at.
When Circe unzipped the entrance, she noticed Kenji and Jade tiredly lift their heads up to see who it was. Once they noticed it was their aunt, the kids immediately lay their head against the pillows and fell back to sleep.
"They're so alert." Circe quietly admitted.
Circe went to the last tent and noticed the tent was already open. She noticed Gizmo popped his head out to see who it was outside. When he saw it was Circe, Gizmo went back to lay down beside Rosie and fell asleep again.
Circe went back inside the house and went in her and Rex's room, "They're sound asleep."
"I'll make sure to check on them again in an hour or two." Rex smiled, he loves it when the kids get to do something fun every once and a while.
Some time passed at the night and Rosie woke up groggily when she heard Gizmo started to growl defensively.
"Gizmo, keep it down. We might wake everyone up." Rosie whispered and pat his head.
However, she noticed Gizmo was looking at the opening of the tent and she glanced at his direction.
She immediately looked pale when she noticed someone was standing at the front of the tent. All Rosie could see was the man's lower half of his body. What made things more terrifying for her was when she noticed one of the man's arm was bleeding and blood dripped to the ground.
'Before the girl turned off the TV, she saw a story about a dangerous serial killer on the loose in the area...She woke up to the sound of dripping coming from the bathroom.' Rafael's story echoed in Rosie's head and she immediately stayed behind Gizmo as he started to lean forward and his ears perk up and showed his teeth.
The mysterious person tried to grab the zipper to open it further until Rosie screeched, "KENJI!"
That's it for Chapter 5, I'm so sorry for the long delay ^^" Personal things got in the way and I wasn't in the right mindset to write anything and I had bad writer's block. Luckily, I was able to get through this and finally got another chapter done for this story :)
Thank you for the review in the last chapter YellowAngela :) I'm glad that you like the chapter, I thought that having a little chunk of life would be a perfect fit for the chapter. UNO is one of those games that I would occasionally play with my siblings. I couldn't win at times because my siblings love working against me lol xD I've never played Scrabble before and I honestly thought that you would need big words to win it. I learn something new everyday :) and hey, playing any game can be fun but sometime it could bring the worst side of people depending on how competitive the game is XD
As of right now, I'm not sure what story I will think about working on next. I want to try to at least get another chapter out for The Magical Place on Earth but we'll see what happens. I have finals next week so I hope that I can post more chapters during the summer before I start the Fall Semester. Until then, stay safe out there everyone and enjoy the rest of your day/night. :)
