Elle 's hand caressed the sharp edge of Evelyn's chin. The dark-haired woman laughed loudly, her blanket slipped down from her shoulder. ''What is your obsession with my chin?'' she sheepishly asked.

Her brown eyes met Elle' s tentatively, her hand moving up Elle's side as she did. ''You're just unbelievably attractive'' Elle softly smiled. ''Says who'' replied Evelyn dryly before leaning in to kiss Elle gently.

''I wish you could stay longer Elle, I want you to stay'' Evelyn said, her hand cupped Elle's cheek as she talked. '' Come on Evelyn, you know I can't'' Elle stammered uncomfortably, she averted her gaze by staring up at the ceiling.

''But why? You're always moving around. Don't you want to settle down? Start a family…? With me'' Evelyn whispered, '' Evelyn, don't''.

Elle's mind wandered to the conversation she had with Evelyn after she had killed her first man two years ago.

Elle had been rattled, her body shivering as the blankets were pulled up to her chin. She had killed when she was with the BAU, but it was different to do the slow torture, before the inevitable murder.

Evelyn found her sobbing in her bed, she had lain there for at least two days before Evelyn found her there. She hadn't eaten, she hadn't showered. So Evelyn lifted her up and sat her down in the shower.

Evelyn held her in her arms as they sat on the floor of the shower together, Elle sobbing on her shoulder. ''Talk to me'' Evelyn whispered as her hand brushed through Elle's hair, placing soft kisses on Elle's forehead as she did.

''I can't talk to you, about this. Ever'' Elle eventually managed to stammer, ''it'll be harder to talk about it, the longer you wait my love'' whispered Evelyn.

''I love you Elle'' Evelyn said, lifting Elle's chin up with her finger as she said it. ''stay here. With me'' she had asked, begged practically.

''I can't do that to you'' Elle said, ''you deserve better''.

And now here Elle lay, next to Evelyn. A dozen of murders later. ''Elle we can't keep doing this. I can't keep waiting for you'' Evelyn pleaded even though Elle knew she would.

''I didn't ask you to wait for me Evelyn. I told you the exact opposite actually'' Elle snapped, whenever she felt vulnerable she snapped at the people she loved because it might hurt less when she had more control over when people left her.

''Fine Elle. Whatever. Do what you need to do to make yourself feel better at night. I knew what happened at the FBI would change you, but I hadn't expected not to recognize you ever again'' Evelyn said as she stood up, dressing herself as she talked.

''Don't make this about me getting shot. This is not about that'' Elle exclaimed frustrated, ''no? then what is it about Elle? You've been running ever since you got shot. Asking me to meet you in motels in weird cities. Selling your apartment. Everything happened after you got shot''.

Elle watched as Evelyn slammed the motel door behind her, her red bra still dangling from the door handle. She fell back down on the bed, covering herself with the blanket that had slipped down to her bare hips.

Elle had met Evelyn right after she started working at the BAU, they had slept around a few times until it became an unwritten rule that neither of them would sleep with anyone else but each other.

And suddenly they were together every Friday night, and then every Saturday night, and then every Sunday night and suddenly Evelyn had a toothbrush at her place, and an underwear drawer.

But then Elle got shot. And it was as though their world stopped. Together, yet miles apart.

And then Elle sold her apartment when Evelyn was on a business trip. She ran away and only left a note for Evelyn. But, Elle was inevitably drawn to Evelyn and the pain it cost them to be apart.

But neither women had expected this amount of complication in their love life, Elle was on the run even though Evelyn didn't know why. Elle didn't want her to know either.

It was an excruciating pain, to have someone in your life yet to be completely and utterly alone at the same time. It was a pain no words could ever describe, and it was a pain she would not wish upon her worst enemy.

Elle missed the stability she had when she worked at the Behavioral Analysis Unit, her coworkers and her steady pay roll. She missed Derek Morgan and the way he knew how to make her feel seen.

But she shook her head slightly trying to lose the memory from her head, because Derek Morgan was not her friend. He was not there for her, he was not worthy of her memories.

Elle turned on the TV in a way of distracting herself, but the first thing that popped up was Jennifer Jareau. ''We believe our unsub to be a woman'' was what caused Elle to sit upright in her bed.

Chills covered her body as her eyes followed every movement Jennifer Jareau made, the way she rubbed the palm of her hand with her thumb. Something she had always done when she was nervous.

Elle knew the FBI was getting a lot of heat for not finding the unsub so being in the public eye for the FBI was probably not something Jennifer Jareau wanted to be right now.

Next to Jennifer Jareau stood the dark-haired woman, who was scratching around her finger nails while observing the crowd. Elle recognized the way the woman stood and the way her eyes went from left to right. A typical academy taught stance.

Elle turned off the TV when the blonde woman left the stage, climbing out of the bed and wrapping a robe around her naked body.

She had to leave the city immediately, she knew she couldn't stay here a second longer, so she aggressively pushed pieces of clothing in her bag.

Her bags were packed 30 minutes later, and she was standing outside on the curb. Her long brown hair rested on her shoulders as she looked from left to right. Everyone around her seemed suspicious right now.

Her sneakers thudded on the street as she walked around in haste, but not enough haste to seem suspicious. She has the train station in sight when she crashed full force into someone.

Elle yelped out in pain and so did the man she ran into. Elle rubbed her forehead where her head had hit his before opening her eyes.

Her stomach dropped when she looked into his eyes. She hastily stood up, but it was too late. He had recognized her. ''Elle?'' he softly asked, ''Hi Spencer'' Elle awkwardly replied.

''Where have you been? I've been trying to reach you since you left the FBI'' Spencer dazedly asked, he was clearly still slightly taken of guard.

''I've been here'' shrugged Elle, ''living with my girlfriend Evelyn'' Elle added. Another lie. ''That's great'' the young doctor smiled, '' why did you never return my calls?''.

Elle shifted on her feet awkwardly ''I wanted to get away from the FBI. It just reminded me of what has happened''. The first truth she had told since she ran into him.

''I understand that'' nodded Spencer, but Elle felt as though he didn't or else he wouldn't be at the FBI. ''It's really great seeing you though'' he awkwardly stammered as Elle's eyes wandered back to the train station.

''We're working on a case right now, but uh-… would you want to grab coffee sometime?'' Spencer asked, but Elle's mind had already wandered to the train she just missed. ''I'm sorry Spencer, I really need to go. It was nice seeing you'' she said, she almost placed her hand on his shoulder, but she knew the young doctor would not like that.

Elle hurried off without waiting for Spencer's reply, her brown hair breezed in her face as she half walked, half ran to the train station.

And only when she sat down in her train, could she finally catch her breath.
