"Just as I suspected", Ghost Spider crouched down with Batgirl crouching to her.
They were observing people carrying the stolen tech into a machine. Ghost Spider was surprised that Mania had goons.
"Looks like our bad guy's hired some help but these people look like ordinary citizens".
"There's the tech being used for that machine", Batgirl pointed out.
Ghost Spider was trying to figure out why they were the innocent bystanders she saw as she was swinging by.
"It can't be...", Batgirl whispered to herself.
"What is it?" Ghost Spider whispered.
"These are all the people that went missing a week ago for unknown reasons. They're all here!"
"Doesn't make sense that they disappeared only to be committing a crime".
"Unless...", Batgirl took out her binoculars.
"Let me guess. Super vision goggles?" Ghost Spider joked but Batgirl ignored her.
"They're being mind controlled, but can Mania do that?"
"Symbiotes don't have telepathic powers".
"Which means she's getting help". Batgirl took a device.
"Should I ask what that is?" Ghost Spider had that look of curiosity.
"It's a little something I use to hack into difficult places and this looks way too familiar, I've seen something like this happen before". Batgirl started hacking and Ghost Spider was just looking at her with little knowledge of what she was doing. "Abracadabra".
Suddenly the people seemed to snap out of it.
"And that's our cue", Ghost Spider jumped down and Batgirl followed.
"What's going on?" A man asked.
"Where am I?" A woman panicked.
"It's okay, everyone follow us, we'll take you to the police and they'll get you home".
"Nobody's gonna go home", came a female voice followed by the sound of a tongue flick.
"Oh great", Ghost Spider mumbled, "Batgirl, get everyone out of here". Then she felt her Spidey Sense warning her.
Mania tried to pounce on Batgirl from behind. Fortunately Ghost Spider quickly pushed her out of the way.
"Ghost Spider you better go to that corner".
"What?! Why?"
"Just trust me", She took out a sound horn from one of her pouches. With one push of a button a large sound wave was shot directly at Mania. The symbiote started vibrating and Mania started screaming in pain. Soon the symbiote was absorbed into it's host, Janet Brock who carried on the screaming then passed out.
"...How long have you had that?" Ghost Spider as in an angry tone.
"The day you came to Burnside I kept this sound wave maker in case you would cause serious harm".
"How did you know that was a symbiote's weakness?!" Her suit started to turn black, she was turning into her venom suit.
"Stay back! If you try something on me while you're like that I'll kill your suit, don't think I'm not afraid to use this", Batgirl threatened.
With the symbiote acting on her anger Ghost Spider jumped to the roof and disappeared with Janet Brock.
"That lying...devious...conniving...was holding out on me!" Gwen yelled angrily after she came to Earth 65 then took Janet to the police station and arrived home.
She went to the backyard (still in venom form) and took all her anger out on anything she could find. After that she went to her room and tried listening to music to calm her down. She couldn't believe that Batgirl was planning on using her weapon on her. Well now that Mania is defeated she won't have to team up with Batgirl anymore.
That didn't mean she would stop going to Burnside though. After all Ghost Spider's job is protecting the multiverse. And then there's Babs, the first person who welcomed her. She actually missed her. They were both the top of their class. They both had Forensic psychology together as they were trying to be detectives. She started wondering how Barbara was doing.
Barbara lay on her bed thinking about what went down earlier. At first she didn't understand why Ghost Spider was upset but then it hit her that she felt threatened. On top of that she revealed her kryptonite to Batgirl.
She wondered if Ghost Spider will return. Although she seemed dangerous she did save her from being creamed by Mania. Come to think of it, now that Mania is brought to justice there's no longer any reason for the Ghost Spider to stay in Burnside. But if she ever did show her masked face... Batgirl would be ready.
