Chapter 5
Swimming Fool
The scene starts at Dillon and Dally both watching tv where then their little sister Molly comes walking down the stairs.Molly: Dillon, Dally, can we go somewhere? I'm bored.
Dillon: Yeah, where do you want to go?
Dally: How about the pool we haven't been there for awhile?
Molly: Yeah and you guys can finally teach me how to swim without my floaties.
Dillon: Yeah sure we can do that.
Dally jumps up and down cheering before they all got in their swimsuits. Dillon orange swimming trunks and waterproof hoodie, Dally an orange one piece with a stripe through the middle, and Molly a purple one piece with floaties. They packed some towels, a ball, and some toys for Molly in a bag and went out the door.
Big CIty Pool
As they entered the pool they claimed some benches and Molly ran off to the pool before being grabbed by Dally.
Dally: And where do you think you're going?
Molly: To the pool so can you let me go.
Dally sat Molly down and Dillon put on her floaties before she jumped in the pool and started swimming.
Dillon/Dally: Kids…
That's when they heard the door opening and the Greens in their swimming suits.
Greens: WHOH/WOWZA/It's beautiful!
Bill: An indoor pool! Now I've seen everything.
Dillon: What up greens!
They looked over to see Dillon walking over.
Cricket: Dillon, what are you doing here?
Dillon: Oh I just came here to teach my little sister to swim.
He points over to Molly who was floating in the water waving.
Tilly: Aww.
Cricket leans over the pool.
Cricket: This is the biggest swimming whole I've ever seen.
He then looks up to see the diving board.
Cricket: I can't wait to swim… in the….
Dillon then puts an arm around Cricket.
Dillon: Yes Cricket, right now you're looking at the tallest diving board in Big City.
A kid then jumped into the water making the water splash onto Cricket and Dillon. Cricket didn't flinch but it burned Dillon's eyes.
Dillon: [Screams] My eyes! Its burns!
Cricket: I don't know if I'm overcome with wonder or it's the chemicals in the water.
Dillon: It's the chemicals!
Cricket: But that is the most incredible thing I've ever seen- AH, it's the chemicals!
Dillon was rubbing his eyes before he bumped into Tilly.
Tilly: Dillon, are you ok?
Dillon: Yeah I'm fine it just hurts to blink.
He blinks and flinches in pain, Tilly reaches into her bag and brings out eye drops. She gives it to Dillon who poured it onto his eyes before he blinks a little before sighing in relief.
Dillon:(Sighs in relief) Thanks Tillster you're a lifesaver.
Tilly: No problemo Dillon.
They got close to each other and looked into each other's eyes.
Tilly/Dillon: Why is he/she so cute?!
They both realize what they are doing after a few minutes before separating and blushing.
Cricket: Tilly, Dillon you gotta help me jump off this diving board.
Tilly then put on a makeshift scuba gear on.
Tilly: No can do brother, there is treasure in this water and I aim to find it.
Bill then walks over.
Bill: Alright, you kids all set?
The kids nod their head.
Bill: That's good because I'll be taking this time to relax in the hot tub. Never tried one before but I heard it's pretty relaxing.
Dillon: It kinda is as long as you stay away from the pipes. [Chuckles before going serious] Seriously those things suck.
Bill nods his head before they all started coughing from hair spray.
Dillon: Oh this toxication [Coughs] tell my story!
The spray faded away as Dillon breathed deeply.
Dillon: I LIVE!
Alice then came forward with her hair done.
Dillon: Hm, Mrs. Green was with the new hair.
Alice: Thanks for noticing Dillon, I just got my hair done. So if one drop of water gets in my hair.
She points the spray at them making them all flinch.
Dillon: [Sreams] Devil spray!
Alice: I'll have all your high knees!
Bill: Dont worry ma, will splash in another direction.
Alice points the spray at them again.
Dillon: He means we won't splash at all!
Alice: Now if you excuse me I'll be soaking my pigs.
She walks off to take a seat.
Dillon: Why did she come to a pool when she had her hair done?
Alice: Cause I'll do what I want!
Dillon: ...Ok.
Dally walks over exhausted.
Dally: Dillon your turn with Molly.
Dillon: On it!
He walks over to Molly who is splashing everywhere until Dillon swims over.
Dillon: Ok Molly time to learn how to swim.
Molly: Yay, Dally taught me how to float and to stay afloat in deep water.
Dillon: Well now it's time to learn to stroke by yours truly.
Dillon taught Molly how to front stroke and backstroke and even taught her how to swim underwater.
Dillon: Ah my child you've learned well.
Molly: Thank you sensei you were a great help.
Dillon then saw Cricket climbing on the diving board.
Dillon: Yo, Cricket, what are you doing?
Cricket: Proving him I can dive off this board.
Cricket points over to an orange skinned kid with camo trunks.
Dillon: Oh come on Jason, do you have to challenge everyone!
Jason: Yes, yes I do.
Dillon groans before Dally swims over.
Dally: Ok Dillon tag me in.
Dillon tags her in before getting out of the pool and running to the diving board getting stopped by the lifeguard.
Lifeguard: No running, Dillon.
Dillon: Um Sorry.
He passes by Bill who was sweating profusely.
Bill: Dillon! I need your help here.
Dillon: Sorry Mr.G I'm kinda in a hurry!
Bill: W-WAIT DILL- Oh he's already gone.
Dillon kept on running until he got to the diving board where he sees Cricket hanging on the board scared.
Dillon: Oh no.
He starts to climb up to the board and everyone saw him.
Jason: OH, look everyone Dillon is climbing the diving board again. Come on Dillon can you jump this time.
Dillon: SHUT UP JASON!!!
Dally, while having fun with Molly sees Dillon climb up to Cricket and her pupils go small.
Dally: Oh no. Molly, do you think you can stay by yourself for a while.
She looked to Molly who was doing dolphin dives in the water before stopping midair and nodded before going back to it. Dally jumped out of the pool and ran to Dillon who is already to the top.
Dillon: Yo, Cricket you doing ok?
Cricket: Oh D-Dillon how's it going buddy? I'm doing a-ok i'll be fine just getting ready for the jump- OH WHO AM I KIDDING I CAN'T DO THIS!
He quickly starts to climb down before Dillon sighs and looks down to the pool before getting down himself. When Dillon got down he got confronted by Dally.
Dally: Dillon, why did you go up there?! You know what happened last time.
Dillon: I know I just went up there to go get Cricket.
Cricket then appeared behind him.
Cricket: What did you mean last time?
Dillon: Um! Nothing, absolutely nothing!
Jason: Well, well well.
They both turn to Jason and everyone else behind them.
Cricket: Oh uh, wind conditions up there are terrible. Not very good jumping whether
Jason: Save it! I knew you'll chicken out. Like little Dillon here, just pathetic.
Dillon clenched his fist as they all walked away.
Dillon: I didn't chicken out.
Cricket: What happened then?
Dillon: Well it happened when I was 8.
Flashback
Little Dillon went to the pool and started climbing the diving board.
Dillon: I was so excited to jump off it since I learned to swim.
Little Dillon got to the top before he went to jump off the diving board. He found out he wasn't falling and that he was leaning on his toes.
Dillon: I tried everything swan diving.
Little Dillon tried to swan dive off but his foot caught the board.
Dillon: Cannoboling.
He then tried to Cannonball into the water but as he jumped he hit the edge of the board and flopped back onto it.
Dillon: I even tried leaning off of it.
As he leans off it he starts to fall but he just went under the board instead.
Little Dillon: Awww.
Flashback End
Dillon: And I haven't been able to jump from it since.
Cricket: Wait Dillon so you're not scared to jump off it.
Dillon: Nope I just cant jump off it period.
Dally: I even tried pushing him off of it. It ended with me in the water and him flat on the back of the board.
Dally: Well I'm gonna go see what Dally is doing.
He jumps into the water.
With Dally
With Dally she was swimming underwater, enjoying her time when Tilly passed by her. She was confused until she saw something sparkling from below. Tilly reached her hand out but due to the buyantsy to her milk container she was dragged back up.
Tilly started flailing her arms to get it but was useless until Molly started pushing on her milk container trying to help her. Tilly smiled before trying to reach for it again, but even with Molly's pushing their efforts were in vain and they both floated back to the surface.
Molly: Dangit, I'm sorry for failing you, miss.
Tilly puts a hand on Molly's head.
Tilly: Well we're not going to give up.
Molly nodded and before they went back underwater Dillon came popping out between them making them scream.
Dillon: Sorry! I just saw you underwater and thought you needed help.
Molly: We're fine big brother, we were just looking for treasure.
Tilly's eyes widened when she said 'big brother'.
Tilly: Wait, she's your sister?
Dillon: Yup! (Side hugs Molly) Molly Cortez. Now Molly, be on your best behavior, I'm gonna go help Cricket. Now gotta go scuba mode.
Dillon then swam slowly dipped back in the water and away.
Hot Tub
Dillon saw Bill and Cricket talking in the hot tub before walking over.
Dillon: Hey Cricket, you doing ok?
Cricket: (Sighs) Hey Dillon…
Dillon: Dude cheer up. Plenty of people tried to jump from there and some absolutely failed.
Cricket: Is that supposed to help me?
Dillon: I'm not done yet. Cricket when you were about to jump, what were you thinking before?
Cricket: Well I felt brave, my regular self.
Dillon: Now what were you feeling when you were up at the top.
Cricket: Fear…
Dillon: That's what it is. Fear can hold us back, but it's also not a bad thing.
Cricket: Yeah it is Dillon, I cant have fear holding me back!
Bill: Whoa, now let's think this through….
He points over to a sea lion balancing a ball on his nose with the words courage below it.
Bill: You see that sea lion he's actually terrified of beach balls. Courage is not having fear, it's being scared of something and going through with it anyway.
Dillon: Yeah like me when I literally jump over to the food truck parking lot. I had my hoodie on which was blowing in the wind while I was doing it, making me look courageous and awesome at the same time, but deep inside I was actually terrified. Never made that kind of jump before but I still went through with it and I absolutely nailed it.
Cricket: You're right Dillon.
Dillon: I'm always right.
Cricket smiles seeing the pipes and nods before walking away with Dillon.
They were both running to the diving board when the lifeguard stopped them.
Lifeguard: Sorry kid, legs in the water mean the pool is closed.
Dillon: What! Did some get their leg chopped off because of them….
He then saw Alice's leg in water before groaning.
Dillon: Mrs. Green..
Cricket: Come on, can you let it pass this is our last chance.
Lifeguard: Well law school was my last chance. Things just don't work out.
He then sees Dillon and Cricket climb on the posters.
Lifeguard: Hey get down from there!
Cricket: Thank you mighty Sea Lion.
They both kept on climb until they were at the beams.
Cricket: We did it.
He looks down, seeing the pool below him, fear over welling him.
Everyone stops and sees them and gasps.
?: They're higher than the high dive!
Jason: They won't do it, they're still scared!
Cricket: You're right I am scared, I'm gosh dang terrified but like the mighty sea lion I'm also courageous!
He let's go as he falls and puts on Dillon's hood.
Dillon: Dude what are you..
His fingers begin to unstick from the polls before smiling.
Dillon: Heck yeah!
He fully let's go before diving to the pool.
Dillon: WAHOOOOOOOH!!!!!
They both enter the pool the biggest splash in existence was created covering everyone. Dillon then saw Molly and Dally trying to get something shiny and as he was still submerging he gave them both a little push. Making Tilly grab them and they both cheered. Dillon gave a thumbs up and he went back to the surface.
Dillon: My curse was lifted! Awesome! Cricket, how did you know?
Cricket: One word: Patrick.
Dillon: Oh.
The rest of the Greens and Cortez came around, Bill wearing a towel.
Dillon: Why are you wearing a towel?
Bill: You don't want to know. Now let's go home. Oh wait I left my keys in my shorts.
Dillon: Then just pull them out of your… pocket. Oh now I know.
Tilly pulls them out.
Tilly: Behold the glittering bounty of the deep. Thank me and my partner.
Molly: That's me!
Bill: Till, Molly you are life savers. now let's go home and burn my hat.
Kids were cheering for Cricket and Dillon when a kid came around.
Kid: I just got here, who's Cricket and Dillon?
Bobby: (Gasped) You never heard of Cricket Green and Dillon Cortez!?
The End
Speed: Sorry this took awhile, school and all that.
Lizzy: But who knew you base Dillon's problem on when Patrick couldn't fall either.
Speed: I know I'm awesome.
