Chapter Five, Never thought I'd get this far. Enjoy and Review

Inuyasha ran as fast as his human legs would allow, he knew he had to get back to Kaede's village or his friends could be hurt, or worse. Alongside him was his cousin Azuma, keeping pace with him though he could outrun him in a heartbeat. Azuma had come farther with Inuyasha than ever before, the two had always been distant and had certainly never laughed together. As he ran beside his cousin he could see the sense of urgency in Inuyasha's face. He truly loved and cared about his friends and Azuma was certain in believing Inuyasha would die for any of them. Not tonight though, tonight Azuma was going to help protect Inuyasha's friends, and, if necessary, Inuyasha. Whether he liked it or not.

When the two finally arrived at the village, they were surprisingly met by Sesshomaru near the edge of the woods. As they approached, Sesshomaru turned his head toward the two. "Inuyasha, you are weaker tonight than you normally are, the untransformed Tessaiga can only protect you for so long. Go hide with the other humans and let the real demons handle this," He said to the duo as they stopped. "Go to hell Sesshomaru! I don't need my demon blood or Tessaiga to beat you or any other demon ya snobby jerk!" Inuyasha said furiously as he clenched his fists. He may have been sick of Sesshomaru ragging on him for being a half-demon and now a full human, but he knew inside that he wasn't even a bug in terms of strength to Sesshomaru tonight.

"Now Sesshomaru? Must you take such pleasure in taunting your own brother?" Azuma said as watching the two from the treeline. "Ah, Azuma. Curious to see you of all people protecting Inuyasha," Sesshomaru said as he stared at Azuma intently. "Was it not you as well as I who refused to answer my father's call on the day of Inuyasha's birth?" Sesshomaru said coldly. As Inuyasha lowered his head slightly, Azuma looked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Inuyasha I-" He started to say. "Look, just forget about it," Inuyasha said cutting him off. We have bigger problems to worry about right now," he said looking towards the village. "Indeed we do, something in this village bears the scent of Naraku," Sesshomaru said as he disappeared in a flash running forward.

A few seconds after Sesshomaru had disappeared, Inuyasha instinctually began running towards the hut his friends were in. "Azuma, follow Sesshomaru and make sure he doesn't kill any villagers! If Naraku possesses them, he won't hesitate to kill them!" Inuyasha yelled as he ran as fast as he could toward them. When he looked back momentarily, he saw his cousin was gone in a flash.

After running for a few moments, Inuyasha came upon his friends as they stood randomly outside the cabin. "Guys! what the hell are you doing? Naraku is here somewhere!" He yelled as he approached. "Kagome, how many jewel shards does he have?" He said as he tried to catch his breath. As he breathed heavily, he waited but got no response from Kagome. "Kagome? What's wrong with you?" He asked as he walked closer. "Hey Sagno? What's up with Kagome? Azuma and Sesshomaru caught Naraku's scent from within the village," He said as he approached her. " Hello? Sango? Naraku is here and we need to go find-" He tried to say, before he could finish, however, he was almost cut in two as Sango swung her sword at her, dropping him to the ground in confusion.

"Sango what the hell are you doing!" He yelled. As he tried to get up, he was forced to roll as Miroku swung his staff at him, narrowly missing him. "Miroku? What the hell?" He said angrily. As he dodged a few swings from Miroku and Sango, he heard a low and ominous chuckling as a portion of the sky revealed a familiar figure cloaked in the pelt and mask of a baboon. "Naraku!" He said as he gritted his teeth and grasped Tessaiga.

"Don't bother with your sword Inuyasha, we both know Tessaiga is no more than a halfway decent shield for you tonight," Naraku said as he dropped to the ground. "Let my friends go you bastard!" Inuyasha said as he drew the untransformed Tessaiga. "Demon blood or not, I won't let you hurt them! He said as he took a fighting stance. "Don't humiliate yourself Inuyasha, we both know I could kill you easily if I wanted to," Naraku said as he stood up and began walking towards Inuyasha.

"Hm," Naraku said as he smirked. "You are rendered human by the moonless night, yet you still show such bravery," Naraku said as he approached Inuyasha. Inuyasha attempted to hit him with Tessaiga but Naraku simply backhanded it out of Inuyasha's grasp, sending it flying a few yards away. "I am truly going to enjoy killing you Inuyasha," Naraku said as he grabbed Inuyasha by the throat and lifted him off his feet. "I have waited so patiently, so anxiously for this moment," He said as he extended his claws to sharp points. "Die, Inuyasha!" He said as he began to force his arm forward.

Before his claws could connect, however, he was forced to dodge as a giant dog yōkai with baby-blue stripes across its face was forced to the ground by another equally larger one with a purple crescent moon on its forehead and missing one of its legs. The yōkai on the ground wasted no time in immediately grabbing the missing legged yōkai by its throat with its jaws and forcing it to the ground, causing a shockwave to force the group to be thrown back.

A few agonizing minutes later, Inuyasha managed to crawl out of the mess of destroyed forest and torn earth, though he could feel his shoulder was dislocated and his wrist was broken. As he saw Naraku controlling his friends once again, he tried his best to run them but couldn't manage to fully run as his right leg seemed to hurt with every step. After a few more steps, the pain in his leg forced him to stop and examine it. When he put his hand on his calf, he could feel something thick and firm painfully jutting out of it. "Ugh, damn!" He yelled as he gasped deeply and pulled the splinter out of his leg in one pull. The sound of his scream had managed to catch the attention of his possessed friends as they made their way to him with their weapons drawn. "Damn, I'm screwed! I can't run and I can't fight, Damn it!" Inuyasha thought as he tried his best to ready Tessaiga. To him, Tessaiga might not transform, but he wasn't going to die without a fight!
