Chapter 5 : Richard and Aliya
January 16th
2:00 p.m.
Journal Entries : Monica
"Despite Angus already knowing this stuff, along with Raiden, Mika, Corentin, and Finn... retelling this story isn't going to be easy for me... I'm just glad Richard and Morro aren't here to listen to it, they've lived the whole story, same as I have, and to be reminded of it again, Is something I don't want, but it's something I need... especially when it's been catching up to me. . ."
A Couple of hours later at Mika and Finn's Penthouse, now that Monica had some time to calm down and think about what to say next, she was ready to continue telling everybody what happened.
Monica took a deep breath, as Angus spoke.
Angus : It's okay Monica, just get it out... it'll be over soon.
Monica : Okay... April 5th, 2036, about 32 hours before Richard was born. . . when my Stepfather was growing in anger from Morro and I being on the Island, and along with the other Elemental Masters. . .
April 5th, 2036. . .
Monica : By now, Caldera already gave birth to Finn, and was a few months away, from becoming pregnant with Mika, the Master of Storm gave birth to her son, Cloud, the Master of Steam's wife gave birth to Firenze, The Master of Magnetism's wife was pregnant, as for Gorin... his anger grew seeing all the Elemental Masters he "trained, brought, and saw potential in" suddenly walk down the paths they wanted. . .
Gorin : Fifty years of this... fifty, and not a single woman, man, or any Elemental Master who had been brought, born, and raised on these lands have risen to the challengers we must all Face!
Taranis : Son, that is Enough!
Gorin stopped at Taranis' yelling, and he listened to him speak.
Taranis : You have continuously been fighting and fighting, even when we lose more than what we previously had, they know our location, our weaponry, our forces, you know you are going to the Departed, and attempt to bring us all down with you, as this war has been drawing to it's end... when My Daughter sought to make this world into a place we could have all stood for, instead of standing for a realm we would have no power over, as we were not it's Creators!
Monica : My Grandfather could easily see through Gorin's Anger, and it drove him to see his heart in the right place, driving him to walk down a path of benevolence... and the next night, was when everything was starting to go downhill for him. . .
The Next Night. . .
It was 11:00 p.m. and Monica was sitting in the Living Room of the Castle, when Taranis and Morro came into the room, talking to each other.
Morro : That's really why we came here months ago, it was either we'd both get caught, or Gorin would probably kill us, but Monica would have rather had that, than to live her life without our baby.
Just then, Monica had a strange feeling, and she felt her baby kicked as she put her hand on her stomach, and her legs felt wet and saw liquid dripping down her left leg.
Monica : Morro... I think it's time now!
Morro and Taranis quickly walked over to Monica, and they spoke.
Taranis : Monica?
Morro : Are you okay?
Monica : My water broke.
Taranis : Morro, help get her to the doctor, I'll get Kenzie and Alvaro.
Morro : Alright.
Morro helped Monica stand up and walk her out of the room, while Taranis went to get his grandchildren.
20 Minutes Later. . .
There was a decent hospital building that was built on the Island, mainly since they had to constantly treat the citizens, since Gorin wouldn't stop trying to attack Ninjago City, but Morro walked in, and saw Caldera at the desk.
Caldera : There you are Morro.
Morro : Taranis told you?
Caldera : Yea, he did... you okay Monica?
Monica : I'll be okay, once I get this thing out of me.
Caldera : *Chuckles* I felt the same way about Finn, come on, Morro I got her, you get the others.
Morro : Got it.
Monica : Morro?!
Morro : I'll be back Monica, I promise.
Caldera let Morro kiss Monica's cheek, and he walked out, with Monica going upstairs with Caldera.
7 Hours Later. . .
The Sun was coming up, and despite Monica's water breaking a while before Midnight, it was now sunrise and she still hadn't had her baby.
Monica : Come on Morro... where are you?
Downstairs, Morro and Angus walked inside, and Angus was holding Finn, before coming up to the others.
Morro : Well?
Taranis : She's still in labor, Morro, get up there.
Morro : Okay, Angus?
Angus : I'll be there in a minute... Cynthia?
Cynthia : Of course Angus, the more time I hold my great-grandboy, the better.
Finn : Dada?
Angus : I'll see you soon, Son.
Angus gave Finn to Cynthia, then Morro and Angus walked upstairs to Monica and Caldera.
5 Minutes Later. . .
Caldera was doing something important, really quick, and Morro was in there with Monica, with Angus at the door waiting for Caldera to help the doctor with delivering Monica's baby.
Morro had changed into green scrubs, and Monica had changed into a hospital gown, and was just laying there, staring out the window, as she felt her baby, kicking her, and she was slowly breathing as she spoke.
Monica : Morro?
Morro : Yes, Monica?
Monica : I need to tell you right now, I'm scared. . .
Morro : Don't worry, It's okay, I'm not going anywhere Monica, I'm right here.
Monica smiled at her husband, but her smile faded when she had another contraction.
Just then, Caldera came in with the doctor, and she spoke.
Caldera : How's it looking.
Morro : She's having another contraction.
Doctor : Alright, time to take our positions, Caldera.
Caldera : Okay, doctor.
A short time later. . .
Monica was laying in the hospital bed, looking tired and blissful, and was holding a little bundle in her arms.
Caldera : I'll be right back, Morro... Congratulations.
Morro : Thank you, Caldera.
Monica : Now are you going to say it?
Morro : *Sigh* Yes, it was worth coming back to your Grandfather's Kingdom to give birth to our son.
Monica : There, that wasn't so hard.
Just then, the others walked into the room, and saw Monica sitting there with her baby in her arms.
Cynthia : I'm so happy for you, Monica.
Monica : Thank you, Grandma.
Taranis : Your Mother would be proud of you.
Monica : I know... I know she would, I just wish she could see him... my little baby boy.
Angus then came back into the room, and handed Finn to Caldera when she came back.
Caldera : You see that Finn, that's your new cousin.
Finn : Yay!
The others laughed at Finn's happiness, with Monica turning her attention back to her son.
Monica : I wonder if he'll ever be on your throne one day, Grandfather.
Taranis : Wait and see.
Angus : What did you name him?
Monica : I figured since he looks brave even at this young of an age, and if he's to be a leader one day, he should have the name that stands for it. . . I'm calling him Richard.
Caldera : Handsome name.
Mika : So Finn and Raiden, actually met Richard on the day he was born?
Raiden : How many more dumb questions are you going to ask, Mika?
Mika : What did you just say?
Monica : First off, Yes, they did, and second of all, do not push it Raiden, her attitude is more explosive than her powers, now can I get to the point of what happened a few years before we came to Ninjago?
Emperor Lloyd : Yes, Monica.
Monica : Two years after, was when Aliya was born, on February 16th, 2038. . .
February 16th, 2038. . .
Monica : At that point, The Master of Magnetism's wife gave birth to their daughter, Gwendolyn, before that, Caldera had given birth to Mika, Raiden's Mother gave birth to Corentin, Kenzie gave birth to her daughter, Thora, and Aliya was the last kid.
Since it was Monica's second baby, she wasn't as stressed as she was with Richard, and he was happy that she had a girl.
Cynthia : She's beautiful, Monica.
Monica : Well thank you, I made her myself.
The whole room burst into laughter, with Cynthia showing a small sense of disgust at Monica's joke.
Just then, Morro came into the room holding Richard in his arms.
Richard : Mama.
Monica : Hey, Richard... say hi to your baby sister, Aliya.
Richard held his hand out to her, and despite his young age, Monica could see Richard wanted to hold her.
Monica scooted over enough so Richard could sit on the hospital bed, and Monica carefully placed Aliya in Richard's arms, and he smiled.
Richard : Aliya. . .?
Aliya opened her eyes, and smiled at her brother, and he smiled back.
Caldera : Those two are so cute.
Taranis : And to think Monica said the same about Finn and Mika.
Mika : Wait, so my brother was the first person to hold me after my Mom?
Monica : Yes, regardless how much it upset your father that his own son got to hold the baby before him.
Angus : Yea, yea.
Finn : Shut up, Dad.
Monica : Anyway. . . that was where it was left until after Aliya turned four years old, and everything went downhill in our lives from there.
Emperor Lloyd : What happened?
Monica : Raiden, I know you were there when this happened, but please keep quiet, I need to get this out of my mind. . .
Raiden : Okay. . . if you're sure.
Richard and Aliya were playing outside with Raiden since the ground was still covered in snow, when suddenly, Aliya had fallen down into the snow and didn't get up.
Richard : Aliya... Aliya!
Richard turned his sister over and tried to shake her, but she didn't get up, and Richard was freaking out.
Raiden : Go get your parents, I'll stay with her.
Aliya still wouldn't get up, and Richard nodded, and then ran inside to find Morro and Monica.
Richard : Mama... Mama!
Monica and Morro were both in their room, when Richard came bursting in.
Richard : Mama!
Monica : Richard, what's wrong?!
Richard : Something's wrong with Aliya, she won't wake up!
Monica and Morro followed Richard outside and they all ran towards Raiden who was still beside Aliya. . .
Morro : Sweetie?!
Monica : Aliya, wake up... Aliya?!
Morro : Monica, get Caldera and Angus, I'll get her to the doctor.
Monica : Okay. . .
40 Minutes Later. . .
Monica : I was hoping it wouldn't be anything serious, but with the life I had, I knew that was too much to hope for. . .
Aliya was in the hospital bed, with the doctor shaking his head in sadness, as he walked out to Morro, Monica, and Richard was in the waiting room with Angus.
Morro : What is it, what's wrong with her?
Doctor : I'm very sorry for you two... I'll just say it right now.
Monica : What was wrong with her, was the worst thing I could have heard in my life. . .

.
Monica : Lung Cancer?!
Doctor : We can try to give her treatment and see what there is we can do, but Cancer at her age is rare... and, I don't know how much time she has left. . .
Emperor Lloyd : You Daughter had Lung Cancer?!
Monica : Yes... and I lost her too soon.
About 17 Months after Aliya was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, she wasn't getting any better, she was on life support and and her life was depending on a tank of air, her brother was holding her hand, with Morro and Monica outside the room talking to Angus and Caldera.
Richard : I... I don't know what I'm going to do without you Aliya, you more than my baby sister, you were my best friend!
Aliya : I... I know, It's going to be okay... Richard.
Richard looked up and into his sisters eyes, and despite how very pale she looked, and her trouble breathing, she still spoke him.
Aliya : I'll always be in your heart, always and forever... And, I want you to have this.
Monica : You wondered the pendant that Richard wore whenever he was wearing his ninja suit, Lloyd?
Emperor Lloyd : Yeah?
Monica : The Golden Chrysoberyl Pendant, was Aliya's... she gave it to him when she died, he held onto it the same way he did with my bracelet.
Aliya undid the pendant she wore around her neck, and placed it onto of her brother's opened hand, as he grabbed the pendant and held onto it, along with Aliya's hand.
Aliya and Richard were both crying, and the latter spoke.
Richard : I love you, Aliya!
Aliya : I love you too... And I want you to know this Richard, you are the best brother I could have ever had, and-
Aliya had been cut off by a large beeping sound, and had trouble breathing, and Richard tightened his squeeze on his sister's hand, and so did she.
Richard : Your heart's slowing down, just take it slow.
Aliya : I want you to know this Richard... that I will love and cherish you, till my last dying breath.
Richard had several tears leaving his eyes, and Aliya managed to lean up, and let Richard hug her one more time, and Aliya laid back down as she was breathing very slowly and lightly.
Morro and Monica both came back inside, and saw Aliya was going, and they both knew there was nothing left they could do.
Richard : Nobody will ever replace you... I love you Aliya.
Richard still held his sister's pendant and her hand, as he came forward and kissed his sister's forehead, and gave her hand one more tight squeeze, as he heard the monitor and looked up to see it had a flat line.
Richard immediately broke down sobbing, and Morro held his son, while Monica held her daughter.
Monica : No... Aliya, my baby girl!
Caldera : I... Monica... I'm really sorry.
Richard slowly let go of Aliya's Hand, and put on his sister's pendant, and swore he would never take his sister's locket off his neck. . . . .

1 Month Later. . .
Monica : Losing Aliya... it was the worst thing that could have happened to Richard, he cried almost every night, without her along with him in their room, and he never took his sister's pendant off his neck, and it was the night before his 7th Birthday, that my grandfather came up to me.
Taranis : Monica. . . I think it's time.
Monica : For what?
Taranis : For your family to leave, it's not save for you here anymore... Gorin may be taken care of, but you've been sending the Elemental Masters on their way, one by one, Angus and Caldera are gone now too, Alvaro has to stay and keep an eye on Gorin... and I know you said you wanted a service, but I already buried Aliya.
Monica : Why?!
Taranis : I wanted that to be over with, you Need to Leave, and if you can't have a happy life without her, then give Richard a life that Aliya would want him to have, and don't return to this land!
Monica felt deeply hurt by her Grandfather, she thought he cared, but without Aliya, something inside him snapped. . .
Monica : Fine... Tomorrow we'll leave. . .
The Present. . .
Mika : Then what?
Monica : Nothing... The Earthquake at Stixx happened shortly after we left the Lightning Kingdom, Morro died and was resurrected by Vex, held captive by The Sons of Garmadon until Richard rescued him, I didn't see either of them again until Christmas last year, and here we are, and even before Aliya died, Morro and I had helped the other Elemental Masters and their children leave the Kingdom of Lightning, which is why you kids were gone before Morro and I left with Richard.
Monica : And before each Elemental Master left, Gorin had taken the kids, and threatened to kill them, if he couldn't give them the mark of the Black Scorpion...
Monica : It was the symbol of his army, so any masters who thought to see a better path in life would be remembered as the descendant of an Elemental Master, who fought for him... and that brings us up to date, Aliya's gone, Richard has never been the same without his little sister, and I don't know what to do with myself.
Monica : That's it.
Monica stood up, and Angus came forward and hugged her, and she cried on his shoulder, since he understood how much she went through on that island, he witnessed it all.
Angus : I'm sorry Monica.
Monica : Only now, with these attacks, I fear we have something way worse to deal with, but I don't know what it is yet. . .
Princess Lydia : I'm sorry, I'm sorry I dragged you into this.
Monica : I had to talk about this, Lydia, this isn't your fault, and you certainly didn't cause that attack last week.
Princess Lydia : Yea... I'll see you when you feel better, Raiden.
Raiden : Feel free to come by, I'm usually hanging out with Mika and Finn.
Lydia nodded, and she and Lloyd left Meadow's Peak, Lloyd had a talk with Angus if he ever needed help with Meadow's Peak, in case their city was attacked as well, at some point, and Monica decided to go home and spend time with Richard.
But Aliya's Last Words, never stopped ringing in her mind. . .
"I will love and cherish you, till my last dying breath"
45 Minutes Later. . .
It wasn't just Monica's mind, that kept hearing those words. . .
"I will love and cherish you, till my last dying breath"
Richard was in his room, staring at his mirror, of himself wearing Aliya's Pendant, he never took it off his neck, and still reflects on what he has done ever since he lost his sister. . .
Monica then walked into Richard's room, and spoke to him.
Monica : Richard... my little boy?
Richard looked behind him to see his mom, and he walked over to her, and she kneeled down and let Richard into a tight embrace, and stood up and tightly hugged her son in his arms.
Richard : I can still hear her.
Monica : I know, but I don't know if you'll live without seeing where she left.
Richard : Mom, what do you mean?
Monica : We may have to return home, that attack last week, it's your Grandfather's Brutality catching up to us.
Richard : I don't want to lose you.
Monica : You won't... you won't.
Richard : I miss her so much. . .
Monica : I know, and I know it's not always right for me to say it like this, but you got your Father back, you got me back... you'll see your sister again one day.
Richard : But when... that's what I don't know
Monica whispered, and Richard couldn't hear her, but he could see the concern in his mother.
Monica : I fear that day may come a lot sooner than I thought it would. . .
Monica let her son down, and Richard spoke.
Richard : Is there anything you want to do, I've been bored ever since Dragon Day.
Monica : Okay Sweetie, we'll go find something to do, see if I can get you to smile.
Richard let a small smile onto his face, though he didn't let his mother notice, as the two left the apartment.
Next Time on The Elemental Legion, Milly goes on her date with Clayton, and she talks about her Mother and who her birth father apparently was before and shortly after she was born, while Jay and Nya allow Nya's Parents to stay at their house due to an Earthquake at Ignacia that caused major damage to their house, while Morro heads off to speak with Master Wu about The Forgotten Masters, and if they may all return, while Liv has a special event on the twin island of Ninjago, The Dark Island, and what it's connected to, and why, is part of her son's prophecy. . .
