Chapter 5: Good Friday
Chapter Summary: A little family fun including glitter.
Friday Cormac is happy to have the weekend off, especially with the current forecast of sunny weather. Much like when he grew up, he knows rain in Seattle is more likely than the beautifully sunny days ahead. He spends the day with his parents and his kids before having a family dinner with Meredith and her kids too.
"Liam, I need help!" Ellis yells from the kitchen table.
"Sssh Ellie, you don't need to yell," Cormac says observing the chaos of all the kids in his small kitchen area.
"But Dr 'Mac I need Liam's help," she says looking at her plain boiled eggs, not knowing what to do.
"He'll be right back, El. Then he'll help you. Why don't you draw a picture while you are waiting?" he suggests handing her some paper. Liam arrives back and settles down with Zola and Ellis helping them decorate their easter eggs. Austin and Bailey have been trying to figure out how to decorate his eggs like superheroes, with Austin pulling up examples online so they can correctly draw each symbol.
Meredith comes in from the living room, spotting her partner watching all their kids. She quietly walks behind him, wraps her hands around Cormac's waist, leans her chin on his shoulder and plants a kiss just below his ear, then whispers, "They are amazing."
"Aren't they?" he says as he grabs her hands and holds her tight, not wanting her to let go. He really wants to pull her around and kiss her deeply. This week has been so long as his parents have been in town all week so they have barely had time alone together. This scene and the previous week of planning the Easter surprises, has confirmed his thoughts, they should become one family. Now he just needs to figure out how to ask her to marry him.
"Wow! Look at those amazing eggs," says Seánan, coming in from the back yard. And switching to Irish, he says, "Liam I love your princess eggs."
"Daideó, English please," Liam replies, reminding him that they don't all speak Irish.
"Sorry Liam, I was just teasing you," he replies while turning to Ellis and Zola saying, "Wow! Look at all the princess glitter."
"I covered everyone with glitter," Ellis says looking around her.
"Yes you did. Liam looks great with pink sparkles," Seánan continues teasing.
"Daideó," Liam groans.
"How about you help them tidy the kitchen while Liam gets a few minutes to wash himself up?" Cormac intervenes, knowing his son's temper may just blow if this teasing continues.
"Dr Cormac, are we taking these into the hospital tomorrow?"
"Yes, ZoZo. I'm sure the kids would prefer these fun eggs instead of the boring ones on their food trays. It was a good idea to decorate for them," Cormac replies. The interns have a simple easter treasure hunt planned for tomorrow afternoon, so while they were decorating the three dozen eggs the five kids decided they should deliver these eggs for the treasure hunt too.
"Now can you help Daideó clean up so we can eat dinner?"
"We already are cleaning," Ellis speaks up, showing her cloth covered in glitter.
"Don't put those rags in with your laundry. I'm sure the three of you don't want glitter on everything," Meredith says grabbing the sparkly cloth and rinsing it out in the sink.
"Good tip, I don't need more glitter!" Liam comments returning to the kitchen.

Knowing that his parents always said grace before a meal, Cormac tries to pull his thoughts into meaningful words, not wanting to just do a traditional Catholic grace or bible reading. Not only haven't he and his kids been to church much in the past few years, he knew that Meredith wasn't raised in a church. As everyone holds hands around the table, Cormac says, "We are thankful for this time with family and friends and all our support around us, may this meal we're about to share help our spirits shine brighter. Thank these loving children for sharing their love with everyone around them. We are so grateful for this time, to renew our spirit, to share our trials, to find new strength."
His parents both respond with "Amen."
Their salmon dinner was amazing, thankful to have taken his family to Pike Place Market today to pick up the fresh fish from the Pike Place Fish Market. "Did you watch them throw the fish?" Bailey asks Austin.
"Yes, Bay," Austin says.
"Will you take me next time?" he asks wishing he was included today.
"Definitely. Do you like watching the flying fish?" Cormac asks.
"Yes! They are amazing at catching them," Bailey continues.
A/N: For those that haven't been to Pike Place Market, the Fish Market puts on great "shows" with throwing fish. It is fun to watch! watch?v=bbiAj54qN3A
