Chapter 4: The Forest and the Airship

Stolas and Spindle journeyed through the beautiful landscape of flowers and crossed a bridge on their way to Loo Loo Land. Stolas began to sing cheerfully:

First prize is nearly mine.

It's quite my best invention.

So simple, yet complex;

So massive, yet so small.

This triumph of design

Will be my old-age pension.

They trudged for many hours more than they expected and found themselves in the forest, which turned dark.

"We should be there by now," Stolas said to himself, "Maybe we missed a turn? I guess I should have taken the… wait a minute!" He took out a flashlight to read the letters on the forked signpost, but the letters were hard to make out since they were worn out. This made it hard for him to tell where Loo Loo Land was. Stolas sighed as he sang the next few words:

That is, provided I can find the fair at all.

Spindle shrugged his shoulders and was about to turn left when Stolas held him back by the reins. "Let's go this way!" Stolas told him.

The horse spun his head to the right, which was foggy, dark, and unwelcoming. The path on the left was safe, inviting, sunny, and bright with birds chirping. Spindle was about to head to the left when Stolas pulled him by the reins to the right. "Come on, Spindle, it's a short cut! We'll be there in no time. I'm sure my big dicked Blitzy would agree."

Spindle reluctantly took the path on the right, which felt wrong to him, so he carefully looked up at the sky. The leafless trees looked foreboding, covering the horse and the owl demon as leaves blew in the wind while the two continued to travel in the night. A silhouette of an exterminator came running up a hill above them. Spindle paused, scared and let out a whinny in fear as eyes glowed at them.

Stolas looked at the map in exasperation. "This can't be right!" he cried, "Where have you taken us, Spindle? We'd better turn around." The owl motioned the horse to back up, but the exterminators were gaining on them, making Spindle all the more frightened.

"Whoa! Whoa, boy! Oh! Ah, oh dear!" Stolas called timidly, attempting to console the horse he borrowed from Blitzo. Spindle backed up until he accidentally bumped into a tree with crows, ravens, and bats flying above them.

Seeing this, Spindle galloped away from the creatures that hovered above them and the exterminators with their eyes glowing. Stolas held onto the reins for dear life, doing his best to steady the horse.

"Whoa!" Stolas shouted, "Whoa, boy!" Luckily, he was able to stop Spindle seeing that they were on the edge of a cliff. The owl managed to command Spindle to back up. "Back up! Back up! Back up!"

Spindle stepped backwards. "Good boy, good boy! That's it!" Stolas praised and Spindle's jaw dropped at the sight of exterminators. "Steady! Steady! No! No! Spindle, no!"

The horse reared back, knocking Stolas off him. Spindle took off in a hurry with the cart still attached to him.

The owl opened his eyes and uncovered his face by raising his dark red cloak. "Spindle!" he called softly. Stolas looked around him and there was no sign of Spindle. With a sigh, he got up and sang:

I must have missed a sign.

I should have paid attention.

Rats!

That's not a nightingale, and not a mating call.

Exterminators!

Then he saw exterminators grinning sadistically at Stolas, who gasped and started running for his life. As the exterminators began to pursue him, he pushed the branches from his face. The exterminators followed him on a fallen log and Stolas tripped over a loose root, falling down the small hill. Then, in front of him was an iron gate. He went to shake the bars, but the gate was locked.

"Help! Is someone there? Help!" Stolas cried and to his surprise, the gate opened after all the shaking and he fell forward. Seeing the exterminators get close, he slammed the gates shut.

...

Stolas slowly walked away and looked back to see if anything followed him. To his relief, nothing was after him and he checked his surroundings to see a giant airship. Lightning struck and it started to rain. The owl rushed over to the doors and knocked on them loudly, making one door open by itself. He glanced behind him and closed the door. No one seemed to be home.

"Hello?" Stolas gently called, "Hello?"

"Poor fellow must have lost his way in the woods," a female voice said.

"Keep your mouth shut," one male gruff voice said, "Maybe he'll go away."

"Is someone there?" Stolas cried, noticing someone was in the airship.

"Not a word, Charlie," the cat demon with wings told the female demon princess, "Not one word." Then he added in a whisper, "Or you're going to get us all into shit."

"I-I don't mean to intrude, but I've lost Blitzy's horse… and… and I need a place to stay for the night."

Charlie Magne, the princess of Hell, feeling sorry for the poor owl, glanced at the cat demon and said, "Oh, Husky, have a heart."

Husk, the cat demon, shushed her and put his hand to her mouth. Suddenly, Charlie used her hand to burn Husk's, making him yelp in pain and he blew his burnt hand to cool it down. "Of course, sir," Charlie assured him, "You are welcome here."

"Who said that?" Stolas asked, picking up a candelabra and looked around inside the airship.

Charlie snuck behind him. "Over here!" she called and lightly tapped his shoulder, causing him to turn around, but not quite facing her.

"Where?"

To get the owl to notice her, she tapped him on the head, making him look at her face to face. "Hello!" she said.

Stolas gasped and accidentally dropped the princess, who then managed to get up with a slight groan. "Incredible!" he said, amazed.

Husk jumped from the table, incensed that Charlie was helping an unfortunate creature. "Well, now you've done it, Charlie!" Husk snapped, "Dammit! Nice job, bitch!"

Stolas picked up the hellcat, making him squeal. "May I pet you, kitty?" the owl asked.

"Hell no!" Husk retorted, "Put me down now!" Stolas rubbed his belly and head, making him purr. "Knock it off." Husk purred some more. Seeing this, Charlie giggled.

Stolas scratched Husk by the ears and chin and brushed him.

"Charlie, help!" Husk cried, "He's torturing me!"

The owl slid his fingertips on Husk's tail. "Don't touch that! Do you mind?" Husk yelled and slapped him in the face.

With Stolas' free hand, he pressed his palm to his cheek, wincing in pain. "I-I beg your pardon? It's… It's just that I've never seen a cat with…" Stolas was about to sneeze and covered his mouth and nose, but sneezed in Husk's face, much to the hellcat's disgust. Husk licked his paw, wiping it on his face. Stolas blew his nose into his handkerchief since the rain made him sick.

"Oh, you are soaked to the bone, sir," Charlie said sympathetically as she started to escort him to a different room, "Come, warm yourself by the fire."

"Thank you," said Stolas as he followed the demon princess. Unseen by the trio, a huge slithery creature, about Stolas' size, was watching them from upstairs and saw who was walking with Charlie and Husk. The snake snarled and slithered downstairs.

"No, no, no!" Husk protested, following Charlie and Stolas, grabbing hold of Stolas' cape and trying to stop the owl. "You know what the master will do if he finds him here. I demand that you stop right there!"

Before the hellcat knew it, the cape came out of his grasp, making him fall down the small set of stairs. "Oh, crap! Not the master's chair! Get your ass off there!"

Stolas sat down on a chair.

Two flying demons that are red with white and black, flew in the living room, zooming past Husk.

"Oh, hell, no, this can't be happening!" Husk said dramatically, covering his eyes.

"Well, hello, you two," Stolas said, as he pet the two flying demons, Razzle and Dazzle, who enjoyed the owl's affection. The two returned the favor by setting a footstool by Stolas' feet.

Two kittens, a black one named Nightmare, who had green eyes and Lil Pen, the white kitten with blue eyes, covered Stolas with a blanket. Nightmare and Lil Pen purred and Stolas pet them.

"My, what service!" Stolas saluted each servant's hard work and they saluted back.

"That's it! This shit has to stop!" Husk yelled, "I'm calling the shots here!"

A female demon lady with pale purple skin, raven black hair, one red eye and one brown eye, was wearing a nurse outfit. Her name was Megan Lowell. The girl who stood by her side was Niffty and they both brushed past Husk with a cart of tea.

"How would you like a cup of tea, sir?" the nurse asked, "It'll warm you up in no time." She kindly poured Stolas a cup of tea.

"No!" Husk snapped, lying face down and lifted up his head, "No tea! No tea!"

Stolas took a sip of his tea.

"Hi, sir," Niffty said, waving at him, "I'm Niffty."

"Oh, hello," Sir Pentious said with a chuckle.

All of a sudden, a brief moment of bliss came to an end when living room doors flew open, letting out a gust of wind, turning out the lights. Now the room was dark. Megan cringed and Niffty hid behind her, frightened by what was to come next. "Uh, oh," Niffty said.

Stolas shivered as he fearfully clutched onto his blanket for protection and grew scared of a shadow slithering in the darkness. The figure belonged to a snake with a hat that had emotions that matched his, which explained the reddish eye, arms and hands, and a green striped shirt with yellow stripes. The snake was named Sir Pentious.

"There's a sssstranger here," Sir Pentious hissed.

"Sir Pentious, allow me to explain," Charlie said nervously, "The gentleman was lost in the woods. He was cold and wet, so…" Her sentence was cut short with a loud hiss from the master.

Husk hid underneath the rug, lying on his belly, and poked his head out to say something. "Sir Pentious, if you have a minute, I'd like to say…" Gesturing towards Charlie, "I was against this bullshit from the start. It was all her fault! I tried to stop her, but would she listen? No, no…" Then the hellcat ended up receiving another hiss.

Stolas gazed about in the room until he looked right in Sir Pentious' eyes, making him gasp in horror.

"Who are you?! What are you doing here?!" Sir Pentious demanded, making the owl back away in the seat.

"I… I… I was lost in the woods and…" Stolas stammered.

"You're not welcome here!" Sir Pentious cut him off with a hiss, advancing himself on the poor owl.

"I… I'm… I'm sorry," Stolas stuttered, his fear escalating.

"What are you ssstaring at?" Sir Pentious snapped, towering over him.

"Noth-noth-nothing!"

"So, you've come to stare at the SSSNAKE, have you?!"

Before Stolas could make his escape, Sir Pentious blocked his path. "Please, I meant no harm!" Stolas tried to reason with him, "I just needed a place to stay…"

"I'll give you a place to ssstay!" Sir Pentious snarled, clutching onto Stolas' cloak.

All the other Hazbins could do was watch helplessly as Stolas was taken away by their master. "No, no, please! No! No!" Stolas pleaded as he was pulled away from the room and Sir Pentious slammed the door shut, leaving everyone alone in total darkness. Even Blitzo, Loona, Moxxie, Millie, and Riva felt sorry for Stolas.

AN: Blitzo, Loona, Moxxie, Millie, and Jamison's OC, Riva made a brief appearance at the end.

I only own Sir Pentious' cats Nightmare and Lil Pen.
