AUTHOR'S NOTE: We're going to make a small time jump here. (Not that these chapters have all been day after day). Last chapter was around October 10th-ish, but I want to make this one roughly two weeks later. To work around Halloween, I'll make the date October 23rd to be more specific. As for school being absent, school is just not happening right now. Turns out that two worlds colliding might do that. Anyways, please leave a review and visit my ig page starcovstheworld for updates on the fanfic!

Diaz Residence - 7:00 am

In the living room, on the TV, is the news. Surprisingly enough, it isn't Marco watching it, nor is it either of the parents, but Star. Star was keeping up on the Echo Creek succession story.

The movement was no longer simply a debate, it had gained some serious traction. Soon after TVs were installed in Butterfly Castle, Eclipsa saw the news and marched down to the City Hall where the debate was taking place. This was about two months ago though. Now, the movement had a face, Queen Eclipsa. The people of Echo Creek had already told the US officials that Mewni was a monarchy, but nobody had met the queen until now.

So, on the TV, sitting around the table, were Eclipsa and her husband. The two were just as big a part of the debate as any. Humans were surprisingly tolerant of Monsters, something about already having made their mistakes in the past. The debate should have had a verdict now, but Southern California was a hot spot in America, so the US didn't want to give it up so easily. They certainly were in no position to go to war, so it really would just have to come down to either side winning the debate.

Star, thoroughly interested in the debate, didn't notice Marco walking down the stairs, already dressed in his typical outfit. When Marco noticed her so glued to the TV, he opted to not bother her, he instead chose to begin making breakfast for his family. He knew that nobody would mind having pancakes, so that's just what he would make. He got out the flour, eggs, buttermilk, and any other ingredients that he could need. Marco really was a gifted cook.

He began to make the cakes. It was a rather straightforward process, he created the batter very quickly before setting enough batter on his pan for a pancake. One by one, more well sized flapjacks made their way to the large pile on the plate to his side. All was going well.

That was, of course, until a yelp was heard from the other room. Marco, expecting that Star had finally noticed the scent of the pancakes, smugly asked, "If you want some, I can set a plate-".

"Marco, Eclipsa just presented some independency documents! She is demanding that we become our own country!" Star yelled, in response to the boy's assumptions.

"Wait, REALLY?" Marco asked before turning off the stove and running into the living room. Star simply nodded at him, regluing herself to the screen. Marco then questioned, "So is this...good?". Star nervously shrugged before sitting down on the couch, taking Marco with her by the hand.

Eclipsa had a knack for politics, what with being a queen, who was three hundred years old by the way. She knew just as well as anybody that neither group wanted, or was ready for war. She would surely win- those notions were quickly dismissed when the President, on the other end of the table angrily yelled "SILENCE!" the yell was thunderous and his command was followed, even by the couple, "We will have order!" he commanded. "I am willing to pass this notion, IF, and only IF you follow my terms." the president, calmer now, spoke. "And what would those be?" Globgor asked. "Simple! All you have to do is… become a democracy." The calmness of the demand was unsettling. Everyone in the room knew that Mewni had been a monarchy for centuries. That fact made it all the more shocking when the Queen of Darkness responded, in a stern tone, "We agree to your terms."

This was absolutely massive for Echo Creek. They would become an independent country! There was cheering around the City Hall, most people in the room were happy with the result, even the Americans. To be fair, the affected area of Echo Creek was relatively small, it was a quaint beachside town with the new charms of Mewni. Maybe the reason the president let this happen was because of these new dangers. There were new species of all varieties in the town. Luckily for the US, all of these species tended to gravitate to Echo Creek anyway, so there was no present danger to be seen beyond that.

Now in the kitchen, Star picked at her food, clearly deep in thought. The thought of one day having to be Queen must have set back in. Marco noticed. He took no offense to the picking at the food because he knew the girl next to him, plus the rest of his family was clearly enjoying their breakfast, little Mari included. He smiled at his little sister, who had syrup all over her face, but was just giggling.

It was only then that Marco got an idea. He then texted Star 'Let's ditch breakfast, meet me in my room?'. Star got the message and responded quickly 'Yeah, I wanna talk to you about something'.

Star left first, heading for the stairs. Marco left a few seconds later, only after asking his parents if he could be excused. They nodded.

Now upstairs in Marco's room, Star laid down on the bed. She was clearly distraught about the Queen thing. Marco then walked through the door, spotting Star on the bed, wearing a large frown. He then slowly and gracefully made his way to the bed, he needed to think of what to do. He couldn't just do the usual "cheer up Star" routine, she was clearly less sad and more worried.

"What's up Star?" was all that Marco could say. He wasn't totally sure to be honest. He figured it had something to do with being Queen, but was surprised to hear "Are you ready to be a king, Marco?". The question rocked him to his core. He knew that one day he wanted to marry the girl, but the mention of what would come from it was still terrifying to him. "Of course not, but that doesn't matter. I have you by my side and we can get through anything!" he said optimistically. Star admired his attempts but still frowned, "I know you said that I would do it my way, but I don't want to do it at all. I just want to be with you.".

Marco smirked at that. "Me too, I'll do it if needed, but you're really what matters to me." Star softened, if only slightly before responding, "Thanks Diaz." The reality was that both of them loved each other unconditionally. They would never leave each other's side. They were born to be with one another. Now they were soul bound, but that didn't matter.

Before another word could be spoken, Star lunged at Marco, hugging him tightly with that ever present Johanson strength. She practically snapped him with the bone crushing hug, but he was used to it, so he had braced for impact before she struck and once he could, he repaid him with a tight hug of his own. It may not have been half as strong as her's, but it held just as much emotion and served to sooth the princess. It did just that and the two didn't let go of each other for at least five full minutes. That was because every attempt made by Marco to break free was thwarted by the unbelievable strength of his bondmate.

When she was thoroughly calmed down, the two headed back downstairs, hand in hand, with a newfound determination. The determination was nearly deterred by what happened next however. Eclipsa called her on her cell and Star picked up. "Hello?" Star asked. "Oh why hello darling, I am very sorry to call you so early, but I have some news. Some good and some...well… not bad, but… well it's not great." Eclipsa responded. "I'll be there in a minute, I have to get ready. Back upstairs.

Butterfly Castle - 7:30 am

Walking up to the front gates of the Butterfly Castle were Star Butterfly and Marco Diaz. They knew what the news was, but it was only polite for them to come meet the Queen and indulge in her excitement.

When they walked through the doors, into the throne room, they were greeted by Eclipsa, who was beaming with excitement. Eclipsa may not have been the best leader back on Mewni, but she did great here and everyone agreed.

"Oh, my favorite couple has arrived!" Eclipsa announced.

The couple blushed and kept walking toward the King and Queen on their respective thrones. Once they reached their destination, Star lunged for Eclipsa and hugged her. Marco rolled his eyes and waved at the king, who shared the eye roll with double the eyes.

"I certainly am glad to see the two of you. It has been far too long." Eclipsa happily added.

"It's only been two and a half weeks Eclipsa," said Star.

"Yes, Princess, that is far too long." Eclipsa laughed before continuing, "I'm sure you two don't have too much time to catch up, but I do have some things that we must talk about."

"Of course, we're happy to talk about whatever you need to Mrs. Eclipsa… urm...Queen...Anyway, did you say that there were multiple things you needed to talk about?" Marco questioned.

"Just call me Eclipsa, Marco. But yes, there are multiple topics. The first, which I'm sure you've heard already, is that we have been granted independence!" Eclipsa said excitedly.

"Yes, Eclipsa, we thought that was all you needed to talk to us about, but I guess not. Are we in trouble?" Star nervously asked.

Marco interjected, in Star's defense, "Whatever it is, it was my idea."

"Marco, are we honestly to believe that? No you're not in trouble." Globgor laughed before saying.

Star, confused, then asked "Really? Then what is it Eclipsa?"

"Well… unfortunately, the terms of our succession state that we have to hold a vote for our leader, so we might be on the outs." Eclipsa somberly stated.

"Queen...I mean- Eclipsa, you are an amazing queen! They wouldn't let you go." Marco tried to reassure Eclipsa, but his attempts fell on deaf ears.

"Star, have you considered running for the throne?" Eclipsa asked in an all too serious tone.

"Yes, and I will not." Star, very quickly responded, much to Eclipsa's dismay.

"Why not?" Eclipsa asked hopefully. She was unaware of the conversation that Marco and Star had just finished having mere minutes ago.

Star, now confidently spoke, "I do not want to be royal. My family doesn't deserve it and I do not want it."

Eclipsa frowned lightly before saying softly "That sure is a shame… You and yours would make for great leaders."

The two visibly blushed at each other but stood firm in their argument. Star did not want to lead, and it wasn't fair for Marco to be pulled into this.

"I am so sorry Eclipsa, but I think you and your family should stay with the throne." Star, now very serious, retorted.

Eclipsa softened a little when she took note of what the likely reason of her refusal was. Star gripped Marco's hand tightly, not unreciprocated.

"I understand" Eclipsa spoke softly, now smirking.

"Wha-" Globgor said, but was shut up by Eclipsa's finger.

"We appreciate the thought though." Star said, also smiling, gripping Marco's hand impossibly tight.

"Is there anything else-" Marco asked but was stopped by Eclipsa, who said "No, Marco, unless you want to be royals that is."

"NOPE, we're good!" Star yelled, pulling Marco by the hand out of the Castle. She knew what Eclipsa was insinuating. IF they were to run, Marco would have to not only be made A prince, but HER prince.

"You really need to get better at talking to royals Marco." Star said to him. "I thought you liked how I talk to you?" Marco asked. "Well you can't talk to every royal like you want to get into their pants now can you Macho Man?" Star flirtatiously asked.

"I guess not. I bagged quite a nice Princess anyway." Marco responded, earning a jab to the shoulder. "You need to work on not using your father's strength." he joked, this time earning him a kiss on the cheek, but he turned into it and accidentally made it on the lips instead. Neither party would complain however. Now they could go home and enjoy the day.

In the ruins of the Monster Castle - Earlier that morning

Mina sits in front of a somehow working tiny cable TV. 'Will this stupid thing work!' she thought. If she was going to conquer the kingdom for herself, she would need to know what was going on around via the news. When the TV finally turned on, it projected an image of City Hall from outside. The reporter was talking about some sort of succession 'what are you talking about you tiny little man?'

Mina hadn't been keeping up with the news as of lately, so she had no clue what was going on. That was until the slightly shorter than usual man said "In case you live under a rock, we are reporting on the debate that is ongoing inside this very building on whether or not Echo Creek will be leaving the United States!"

Though Mina had a limited understanding of Earth culture, she knew what the United States were because Star had explained things to her when they met at the donut shop. She was trying to think what to do with this new news. On one hand, if Mewni were to be independent, it would mean that they wouldn't have the humans' protection. On the other hand, that Monster Smoocher Eclipsa would still be in control- Her inner mind ramblings were shut up by the same small man on the TV.

"Oh, I'm getting reports that the debate has come to a verdict, let's head inside to hear more." Mina was watching a different news channel than Star, so she didn't actually know what was going on inside the City Hall. On the end of the table stood the president, of course Mina didn't know who he was, he spoke "The verdict of this debate has been reached after our long deliberation! Echo Creek will cede itself from America to become an independent country. The terms of our deal will be released to the public at a later date." 'Ahh so the Monster Smoocher gets what she wants again!'. This angered Mina beyond belief until the reporter, back outside the City Hall spoke again, "I'm hearing rumors that one of the terms of the agreement was that Echo Creek remains a democracy. So there should be a vote!"

Mina screamed with joy. She knew that Eclipsa would surely lose any vote. 'Nobody liked her….right?' Mina was confident in her thoughts. That was when the idea dawned on her. Mina would run for office.

Diaz Residence 8:15 am

"Ok, Star. So if you really want to learn how to make nachos then you have to promise to listen to me…" Marco told the blond.

"Pfft… Come on Marco, I can listen! Especially if those 'Super Awesome Nachos' are involved!" Star responded, beaming with excitement. To be fair, Star seemed like she really wanted to learn this.

Marco nodded, "Alright then, you should probably get an apron and meet me in the kitchen." Star had a wide grin on her face, she attacked his face with her lips and then bolted up the stairs.

'That will never get old' He thought, heading for the kitchen to get the supplies they would need in order to make his signature dish.

Once he had everything in order, he turned around, expecting to see Star sprinting at him with new attire on. This made it all the more surprising when Star was calmly sitting behind him, holding a spoon, like a wand, wearing a 'kiss the cook' apron. She was so happy to learn how to make the dish. Marco was proud of her patience, so much so that he even rewarded it with a light smooch on her forehead. Star giggled.

"Ok, so the first step is the chips!" Marco said, excited. Star looked at him quizzically. Marco noticed her glare and told her "We don't buy the chips Star. I make them every time." Star seemed shocked at the revelation. She never knew how much work was put into the nachos, so she felt a little guilty for making him make them so many times.

"It's actually not as hard as it sounds. All we have to do is make some tortillas, cut them into triangles and cook them basically." Marco told her. Star seemed relieved to hear his reassurance.

"Ok Marco, what do you need me to do first?" Star asked enthusiastically.

Marco smiled at her excitement "You need to cut the tortillas, we have some left over from the last batch I made, so if you want to use those, we can start there."

"I want to learn the whole thing though. I can learn how to make tortillas too." Star said, earning a grin from her Earth-born boyfriend.

"Alright then, I see you want to put in the work! Luckily for you, it's really not that hard, butterface" Marco exclaimed, the nickname earning him a knee to the butt.

"That is what you get for calling me Butterface! But yes, I would love to learn from the best turd I know!" Star said, letting out a giggle.

"You know how much I love that name" Marco scoffed before continuing, "We need flour, salt, water, and vegetable oil."

Star brought over the ingredients from the counter and laid them in front of Marco, on the counter. "Ok so Star, you need to put some flour in the bowl," Star started slowly pouring, Marco told her "More….more...a tiny bit more...stop." She obliged and when she stopped pouring, she yanked the bag back spilling flour everywhere. "Oops.."

Marco, now covered in flour, burst out laughing. "At least you got enough into the bowl, otherwise you would have just earned us a trip to the store!" Star did not seem amused, but she couldn't be mad at him. "Ok, mess up twin, now what?" she sighed.

"Now you put a good amount of salt in there and kneed it in" Marco responded. "You know that you just let me call you that, so now it is official." Star laughed before continuing, "Anyways, what is a 'kneed'?"

Marco understood her confusion, so once there was enough salt in the bowl, he didn't speak, he instead chose to lead her. He grabbed her hands and put them in the bowl, showing her with his own how to do it. She followed suit before exclaiming "Ohhhhhh…. Is that why your hands are always so sticky?"

Marco, confused by what she meant, responded "yeah, let's go with that… once the salt is mixed in, you need to put a tiny bit of the oil in there, no more than two caps full."

"Okay!" Star agreed, grabbing the bottle and pouring the oil into the cap. Unknown to her was just how slippery the oil was. That is why when she was pouring the second cap, she let the cap slip out of her hand, spilling oil on the floor. When she went to retrieve the cap, she fell, holding the bottle.

She fell right on the tile floor, it hurt more than it probably should have, so when she got up and noticed a crack in the tile, she gasped. Marco noticed as well before realising that she might have broken something. So in true safe kid fashion, he started towards her quickly, that was until he slipped. His fall was comical, comparable to someone slipping on a banana peel in cartoons. He fell on the tile as well, leaving another crack, but he landed on his back rather than his butt. It hurts just the same though. When Marco made to get up, a strong pain shot up his back. Star got up just fine. She made her way over to Marco, more carefully this time.

When she got to him, she helped him up and sat him in a chair at the table before asking "Are you alright Marco, that fall looked pretty bad?"

"I think so, but maybe I should get checked up at the doctor tomorrow….You too, you fell right on your butt, did you break a bone?" Marco asked.

"Don't worry about my butt Marco, it broke my fall, along with a tile." Star laughed. "Do you wanna rush to the doctor now? It's still really early, we can pick up on the nachos after?"

Marco, knowing how badly Star wanted to learn, ignored the still prominent pain and answered, "No, we can keep going. I think i'm fine anyway."

"Are you sur-" Star tried to ask but was interrupted by Marco, struggling to stand, handing her a measuring cup.

He braced himself against the counter and told her to "get a cup of water and mix it in with the rest." She agreed reluctantly. She really wasn't sure that Marco was alright, but she followed his directions for the time being "alright Marco, consider it done."

She mixed the ingredients with her hands and once she finished, she gestured to Marco for directions, but noticed him grabbing at his back, "Marco! You are not alright. Come on, let's go to the doctor. RIGHT NOW!" She commanded. Marco simply responded by letting go of his side and speaking, "I'm perfectly fine, all you have to do is put some butter on a pan and cook some tortillas."

Star gave him a glare, obviously frustrated at him, but when Marco urged her to keep going, she did just that, but she was going to keep an eye on him.

She buttered the pan and tossed a portion of the tortilla mix onto the pan. It took a minute and a half to get to a good color, then she flipped it with a spatula. Marco, now sitting down, gave her an approving nod and told her "Once you finish all of the dough, you just have to cut it and cook the chips a while longer.

Despite her recent achievement of making tortillas, the mood was not positive. She was very worried about Marco, he was supposed to be the safe one, but he was obviously hurt and was doing nothing about it. What's the word? Infuriating.

She followed his directions, heating the chips, once they were done, she was actually proud of herself. After her most recent cooking, the brownies, it was nice to get something right in the kitchen.

Marco on the other hand was in growing, excruciating pain. He already tried painkillers, but his back was still throbbing. It didn't help that he was trying to conceal his pain from his girlfriend either. She was definitely right about needing the doctor, but he really wanted her to be happy.

Once the chips were done, she went over to Marco to test something. She was going to see if he was just as 'okay' as he claimed to be. She was going to give him one of her signature bear hugs.

When she started slowly walking in his direction, he gazed at her, confused. She held out her arms and then the realisation set in. She was going to hug him. How could he get out of this.

"Wait wait wait, Star, you're covered in flour!" Marco exclaimed, to no avail.

Star pressed forward, sensing his unease. She was finally right in front of him. She held out her arms once more, but Marco didn't reciprocate. If it was any other day, this would have been offensive to her, but today, she understood why he was acting like this. She grabbed his shoulders and pulled him closer. She felt him push back initially, but was surprised that he wasn't screaming in pain. Rather, he had passed out. This was the last straw. She then grabbed him, lugged him over her shoulder and made a sprint down the street. The hospital wasn't far, but it was at least a ten minute run. She would make it though. There was no other option. All she could do is hope that it wasn't too severe.

After only eight minutes of running, she arrived at the hospital, kicked in the door and started yelling for a doctor. After no less than two full minutes of yelling, several doctors arrived with a stretcher and pulled him into the hallway with her. It was only family beyond this point, she believed that she fit the parameters, so she followed the running doctors.

When they suddenly turned and pulled him into a room, Star nearly fell, but she gathered her balance and persisted in her chase. Inside the room, the doctor saw Star and immediately asked her, "What happened to him?" she then, just as quickly blurted back "wewereinthekitchenandheslippedandhithisbackonthetile." The doctor obviously didn't understand the panicking, now shaking girl, so he urged her to slow down. She said the exact same thing as before, this time slower, "we were in the kitchen and he slipped and hit his back on the tile" The doctor nodded this time before lifting Marco onto the medical bed.

"Why is he unconscious?" The doctor asked.

Star, now tearing up, responded "He was trying to act like he wasn't hurt and he just fell asleep while I was hugging him."

"It's okay little girl, he is going to be fine. We will do everything we can, but for now, I must ask you to go back to the waiting room." The doctor commanded.

Star refused to leave his side though, "I can't...leave him… not like this!"

That was until she was pushed out of the room by a group of doctors and nurses, who were shocked at the girl's unbelievable strength. She made it through the group and ran to Marco's bed and hugged his unconscious body, whispering "I will be back for you.".

Just as she finished her whisper, she allowed herself to be pulled out of the room. When she made it back to the waiting room, one doctor finally asked, "What is the boy's name?"

"Mkodiaz" she tried to say her name, but her uncontrollable sobbing denied her the ability. She gathered herself and managed to say his name, his full name "Marco Ubaldo Diaz". The doctor nodded this time and let go of her. Before the doctor made to head back to the room with her lover inside, he once again reassured her, "We won't let him be hurt, we are doing everything we can, and at the first possible time for visitors, we will let you come back."

This helped Star calm down. Now that the doctor had left, Star walked outside to the parking lot to get some air and realised that the Diazes didn't know yet. She then pulled out her phone, luckily not cracked from the fall that she took before Marco and called Angie. Although she was sobbing through the whole conversation, Angie understood every word. They showed up at the hospital in about twelve minutes, Star would know, she counted the seconds.

By the time that Angie arrived, with Rafael and Mariposa of course, Star was back inside, seated right next to the door that they brought Marco down, absolutely ravaged by tears. The soaked girl was asleep, she had undoubtedly cried herself to sleep, but she woke up the second that Angie sat down next to her and softly rubbed her back. Once she shot up, she pleaded to Angie that "It was an accident" and that "I fell too. He was just trying to make sure I was okay". Angie didn't need the explanation though, she felt terrible to see Star like this.

She chose not to respond with words. She instead just hugged her, with strength comparable to Star's. The hug caught her off guard at first, but she leaned into it and let herself be overcome by emotions. At that, Rafael came and joined in, while holding Mari.

Echo Creek Hospital - 4:09pm

Star was not one to sit still for this long, five and a half hours by now, but she had. In all fairness, she passed out crying twice, but she was awake for at least three hours of the wait and she was awake right now. Angie was outside on a bench, feeding Mariposa. Everything was silent, that was except Star's mind. She was being driven insane by being alone with her thoughts. Rafael was there too, but he didn't have very much to say. What could he do?

Star worried that Marco could have broken his spine. Would he even be able to walk? Would he be mad at her? She had so many questions in her mind, the vast majority of which were negative. She was still deep in thought when a doctor opened the door to the waiting room and simply nodded to Star, who then sprinted past the doctor at breakneck speeds for Marco's room. Rafael went outside to fetch his wife and daughter.

Now in the room, seeing a still unconscious Marco, she collapsed. She was thinking the worst.

The doctor caught up to her and helped her back up. What he had to say was very good, he told Star, "he woke up a few times, he wouldn't answer any of our questions, he just asked 'WHERE'S STAR?' then fell unconscious again." Star heard this and felt a weight lift off of her shoulders. He woke up already, he wasn't too hurt.

"Unfortunately, we are not totally sure what is wrong with his back though, it's either a nerve or something is broken." Star didn't know exactly what that meant, so he asked "What if it is a nerve?"

"Okay, Star I take it?" Star promptly nodded in response before the doctor continued, "If it is a nerve, there is a chance that he may never walk again." The words each hit Star like a bullet. If it was a nerve, she could never forgive herself. She had convinced herself that this was somehow her fault.

"Okay miss Star," he was speaking to her, but Star couldn't hear him. Her surroundings blurred before turning to pitch black. She was walking toward Marco on the bed. Her cheeks were glowing. This time, someone noticed, it was the doctor, Angie and Rafael were in the room by now too, but Star still didn't see anything. Anything besides Marco that is. Her cheeks were glowing a blinding white and she continued walking to her love. Once she reached him, she laid her head on his chest softly, listening to his heartbeat. Of course she could hear this over the doctor, she lived for the sound of his beating heart.

At the warmth of her touch, Marco awoke. He didn't move though. He couldn't but when he saw Star, he realised that he didn't need to move anyway. She felt his heartbeat speed up and she knew that he was awake. She then walked over to his bedside and crouched down to his head level.

Outside of this void that Star and Marco were in, was the rest of the Diaz family. They weren't alone though. Moon. Moon was in the doorway, River didn't bother to show up, still angry at the boy for kissing his daughter in front of him, but he did hope that Marco was at least alright. Moon now bore witness to her daughter's glowing cheeks and gasped audibly.

Star, still unaware of her surroundings, asked Marco, "how do you feel?"

He responded with a cough, "better now that you're here. I'm sorry for lying"

"That doesn't matter now. You're going to be okay and that is all that I care about." She spoke softly to him.

Star, out of nowhere, kissed the boy gently on the lips and his cheeks started to glow as well. Moon, still outside of Star's vision, fainted at the sight. Marco was floating. He was still in the same position, unmoving from the neck down, when he felt all of the pain for a second. It wasn't growing this time though, it was leaving him. Star stared in horror and nearly collapsed when his body curled and she heard a crack. He slowly floated back down into his bed, now painless.

He then sat up quickly, noticing that he could move again, jumped at Star and pulled her into a hug. She gladly reciprocated, although the sound of the crack still haunted her. Her vision slowly came back to her. She looked around, noticing Angie, Rafael, Mariposa, and Moon. "Mom?" she questioned. Moon was still asleep. Star then walked toward her and picked her up and brought her to her feet. "Are you alright Mom?"

"Star, your cheeks are glowing!" Moon yelled in horror.

She then reached into her purse, pulled out her old compact and observed herself. Her cheeks were in fact glowing, but that wasn't what shocked her. It was the fact that Marco's cheeks were glowing as well that caused some concern.

"You know what this means right?" Star asked.

"Is...it….back?" Moon asked.

"It can't be. I killed it" Star responded, knowing that somehow she had to be right, although magical occurrences have happened to her twice now since she had 'killed' it.

"NARWHAL BLAST" Star tried, but nothing happened, "See, it's gone."

The only times 'magic' had worked for her thus far was when she was with Marco. Speaking of which, they had since broken their hug and Marco hugged his parents. The doctor, still shocked, told the family that they were free to go at any time and left the room, speechless.

There was no reasonable explanation for what just happened, so the two didn't even try to give one to the shocked queen. They wanted to go home. Not to make nachos, but to cool down. Star wouldn't leave Marco's side again.

So the group left. Star hugged her still confused mother and walked back to the Diazes. She hopped into the Minivan and the family drove home, with the events of the day still fresh on their minds.
