Having been distracted from his love, Bruce wandered the still mostly unfamiliar Mystery Inc home to look for Velma.
He had been hanging out with Fred outside, working on the Mystery Machine with the other man. Enjoying the new concept of just chilling and repairing the vehicle with his new friend. Not something he did normally in his day to day life, until now. So, the experience had been very entertaining and Fred was good company. Nice to just get his hands dirty and fix something for the heck of it.
But his batteries were running low, and he wanted to recharge by seeking out his other half for a boost.
Thankfully it wasn't hard to find her, as she tended to live and exist in a few spots throughout the house. Finding her burrowed in the couch side that she had claimed for her own. Bruce was actually one of the few who got permission to claim said spot without having to ask permission ahead of time. Much to the surprise of the rest of the gang. Once his secret was out, and the gang finally knew his other half, Velma made sure to drop the bomb that he allowed to use it. Which was actually more of a shock to the group then his reveal was. Not even most of them were allowed without having to ask, and here he was with a exclusive pass to the coveted spot. Just adding to the fact on how much he mattered to her, that she offered that to him. And he was honored to accept the offer, since it was such a meaningful gesture from her.
Though she was in it at the moment, he wouldn't want to take it from her... Unless that meant that he would be in the same spot, sharing it with her.
Since she was so little, and easily fit into his lap... It was growing on him, the urge to be big spoon by placing her in his lap and cuddling around her when they sat or lay together. But she was still not used to his advances most of the time. But he could tell it was growing on her, the more confidence she was gaining in their relationship.
But he didn't want to rush her, accepting anything she would give him.
Looking down at her, he took all of her in. Her nose was deep in the book in her hands, distracted from anything around her. Including him standing there. She was dressed in a pair of comfortable navy sweatpants, complimented by a simple t-shirt. The My Little Pony one he had bought her a while back, it was nice to see that she was wearing it in. Already showing the signs of it being used and well loved. Also a pair of fuzzy socks adorned her feet, as she tucked them into the curled up pose that she adopted for optimal reading. Eye glued to the book, she had a slight furrow in her brow, with no doubt a matching expression beyond the pages of the book that blocked her face. Must have been a good part of the book, though he wasn't sure what exactly she was reading to give such a response.
'Hm... I don't want to bug her since she is enjoying herself. But I want me some Velma time...'
Pondering his options, Bruce suddenly felt a weight lean on the back of his legs and hips. Making him have to brace against the sudden load against him. Shifting his attention to the side, he saw Scooby using him as a brace. His large head casting a glace up with big expecting eyes. Earning a laugh from Bruce, giving the Great Dane a hefty round of scratches to his ears within reach. Per the silent request he was being given.
"Hiya Scoob."
"R'ya Ruce." Leaning more into the pets, Scooby made sure to use his full mass against the man. But as much as it was kinda new to him, Bruce was more then ready to adjust against the weight. He had been warned ahead of time, and could at least handle this much. Reaching over with a second hand, to make sure he would offer as much petting as Scooby wanted. Two hands going full hog on the dog, to scratch him till he was content.
This went on for a few minutes before Scooby got his fill. Satisfied, the pair then turned their attention to the woman sitting before them. His ears flopped to the side as the Dane considered the woman before them, with a full doggy head tilt. Rocking it once before speaking up.
"Relma?"
The dog said quizzically, lifting his large head to look at Bruce to see the man's reaction to his question.
"Yeah. I don't want to bother her, but.."
"Ah, R'I got rit."
Shifting himself to his paws, Scooby wandered over to the couch. Tossing a look back to Bruce behind him, he huffed and placed his big mitts on the middle bit of the couch. Taking a bit of effort, Scooby then hopped up to be fully standing on the couch. (Something Bruce had been told that is allowed. Since Scooby was family and more human then dog at times, it was silly to keep him off the furniture like a normal dog.) Flopping on the couch, Scooby dropped to a crawl. Shimming along to push his way towards Velma and her reading.
Bruce wanted to stop the Dane, but as he raised his hand to halt him from interrupting... Velma seemed to unconsciously shift an elbow up to let the large head enter into her lap. Without skipping a beat, Velma moved the book from two hands to one, allowing a hand to be free to pet Scooby and continue reading seamlessly.
"Oh."
'Well that makes sense. The gang is used to Scooby always being around, I guess you fall into the habit of working around the eager nose and big fuzzy head of his.' Bruce thought amused. He was learning that a bit himself, especially the first night he had stayed over. Earning a full body dog blanket, almost being smothered by the sleepy form of the dog. And he had seen how Scooby would insert himself in things, as a canine does.
Watching Scooby get pet by Velma, did make Bruce a bit jealous though. Envious that Scooby was getting all the love, admittedly with her on automatic. But Scooby didn't stay long, shuffling himself out of range after a short bit of time.
Velma seemed to pat around the couch where the Dane had been, but shrugged and then returned her hands back to her book as if nothing had happened. While Scooby thudded off the couch, moving around to stand beside Bruce before shoving his face into his back. Pushing the man forward a staggering step.
"Wait, what... what are you doing?"
"Ror turn."
"..."
Bruce looked shocked at the dog before him, who nudged him once more before turning and padding his way out of the room. Tossing a tail wave towards Velma, only casting one more look at the bewildered man to nod towards the unsuspecting Velma before disappearing down the hallway. Most likely on the way to the kitchen, leaving Bruce with a dilemma.
"... Really Scoob?" Giving a big sigh, the man considered his options.
He didn't want to interrupt her reading, but he also wanted to get him some Velma 'loving'.
So... who was he to turn down the offer so graciously given to him?
