Chapter 5
Frostkit was so confused. Why was her mother so upset? Why was Swiftbreeze so upset? Was there something wrong with her? Finally they stopped talking and looked over at Frostkit. They didn't say anything. Finally, Frostkit worked up the courage to say in a small voice, "Why are you so upset? Is there something wrong with me?"
Her mother sighed. "Froskit, Yellowfang died back in the old forest. If you really saw her, and I think you did since no one has ever told you about her, then you are the cat of the prophacy." Frostkit was shocked. How could this have happened? Was she really special?
"I don't understand, I'm not a medicine cat and I don't want to be. This can't happen. They have special connections with starclan, not me!" Frostkit wailed.
"I don't understand either but, if you don't want to be a medicine cat I won't force you. Swiftbreeze said, shaking her head. "Now, you should leave so I can speak with your parents, will you bring your father in please?" Swiftbreeze then added. Frostkit left and told her father. 'Maybe I should listen, after all they were talking about me and my life.' Frostkit thought. She krept to the outside of the medicine cat den and listened carefully.
"I don't care how much you dislike having 'special' kits, you will not shut her out like Pinepaw, he hates you to the point where he won't even visit his sisters! You will not shut out Frostkit." Swiftbreeze said angely.'I knew it! There WAS something going on with Pinepaw.' Frostkit thought.
"But we don't want a kit that is 'special' , we want a kit that can hunt well and patrol well and besides, what are you going to do about it if we do?" Her father replied sharply.
"I will talk to Darkstar herself and if you won't listen to me then you will listen to her." Swiftbreeze hissed back. 'I'm important enough to be protected by Darkstar?' Frostkit thought, disbelieving.
"Don't tell us how to parent our kit Swiftbreeze. We can do just fine and as for Darkstar, you can't use her to protect our kits forever. You've already done it once with Uselesspaw. What is this prophecy anyway?" Her mother replied.
"You know that Darkstar didn't let you change Pinepaw's name to Useless paw so don't call him that. The only reason I'll tell you what the prophecy is, is because you might come around eventually for your kit. This is what it is, "The clans will be changed forever by a flower of frost. Things that once will now be lost. Do not despair for the change will be better for most. But the flower can be crushed by the ones who are close."
" Swiftbreeze meowed angrily.
"Just stay out of our kit's lifes or you'll regret it." Her mother hissed and walked out of the den, her father followed. Frostkit was confused, she had to know what happened with Pinepaw and the first cat she was talking to was Rosepaw.
