Chapter 5
Another contact nap for my daughter means another chapter written up on my phone. Not my characters just my story line.
The minute Bella checked into her motel room she ripped her mask off and threw it away. It had seen too much. Her seat mate luckily slept most of the flight, but it was impossible to ignore her drooling gaping moth and nose just inches away from Bella's own masked face.
Walking in the tiny but tidy motel Bella looked at the dingy shower with disdain. Social work didn't pay much unfortunately and Bella had no interest in touching any of the money Charlie left to her. Not having a ton of money never bothered Bella. All she ever did was work, sleep, eat, and spend time on the Rez. Today a bath would of been nice though. Bella needed a deep clean before she dared to step foot in the hospital.
The water cycled between scalding and Ice cold. Bella cursed under her breath she quickly tried her best to clean herself with the tiny motel provided bar of soap. Stepping out of the shower, Bella glanced at herself in the mirror. Even though no one would agree with her Bells could see her age showing. Her heart shaped face was puffy and there were the finest of lines appearing around the corner of her eyes and on her forehead. Bella's mind drifted to Edward and to how odd the two of them would look together now.
Stop that, Bella. Where is your Robot? She scolded herself, before turning away from the steamy glass.
With her emotions firmly put back in there place, Bella dressed quickly in a pair of Jean shorts and t-shirt, threw her wet hair up into a bun, and then sat down to look up directions to the hospital. There really wasn't any time to waste. The last update she had gotten from Renee's doctor had not been positive. Bella also knew that at some point she really would have to address the issue of Phils death too. But planning yet another Covid times funeral was just not something she was ready to do, and the truth was that Bella did not have high hopes that she would not be needing to plan a joint funeral for Phil and her mother anyway. People leave Bella all the time.
It is what it is, Bella thought.
The hospital was only 1-mile away from the motel so Bella decided to walk there thinking it was best to avoid another stifling and expensive cab ride. Before she set out, Bella sent off her obligatory check-in text to Jake.
Bella: I'm here safe and sound. It's just me and the bed bugs of the lovely motel 6 against the world now.
Jacob: poor bed bugs.
Bella: hardy harrr any baby update?
Jacob: No but currently on a pickle abs ice cream run... I'm glad you are safe. Pass my love to your mom. I hope it goes well today. Keep me updated!!
Bella: eeewwwww gross but hey whatever mama wants you make sure you get lol. Will do! Ttyl
After finishing her texts Bella knew there was nothing else left to do to stall the inevitable, it was time to go see her mother. Grabbing a clean new mask and her room card, Bella headed towards the door only to be stopped the the ringing of her room phone.
"Hello," Bella answered, expecting it to be a motel staff member.
"Bella you can't go to the hospital," replied the musical toned voice that could only belong to one Alice Cullen.
Bella's heart stopped.
