Everyone arrived back at sparkles house, Rob looking quiet. Yakko, Donnie and the others went in the kitchen as Leela and Shay ordered pizzas for everyone. Sparkle looked at Rob, gesturing the other to follow her outside.
Sparkle wheeled further down the garden path, coming to a stop when she saw a bench swing, and gestured the other to sit.
"Everything okay Rob?" Sparkle asked.
Suddenly, Rob found the stone design underneath his feet very interesting to look at. Sparkle didn't pressure him, and he liked that. "If I said no, would you kill me? "Sparkle put her hand on his shoulder, or at least what she could from being in her wheelchair. "You know I would never hurt you if something was wrong Rob. You can tell me anything... we've been friends since birth, remember? Just because I'm three years younger than you, doesn't mean I don't care or know how you feel. Did I tell you I lost my grandpa recently? And that's been pretty hard to talk about, so I understand if you're not ready." Sparkle said.
Rob didn't move, he still found the stone design etched underneath his feet pretty interesting to look at. After a few minutes of hearing the beautiful world of mother nature Rob spoke up. "I'm sorry... "He went quiet again.
"That's okay.." sparkle said quietly, looking down at her necklace, a gift her grandfather got her for her ninth birthday. She held it up to show Rob.
Rob carefully took the necklace into his hand, smoothing his thumb over it. " it's beautiful... "He whispered breathtakingly. Sparkle smiled, looking up at the clouds. "It sure is beautiful today, isn't it? "Rob followed her gaze, looking at the exact spot smiling. "It is, it is beautiful today yeah."
"So, you and Tress huh? Cute. "Rob smiled. "Thanks. Yeah, we just, sorta, happened in the hallway after dress rehearsal, after she said we were going to do a production of the play for my dad at the hospital tonight..." Rob's Face saddened at the mention of his sick father. Sparkle took his hand squeezing it. "You know your dad will be proud of you right Rob? Your dad will be so proud of you... I mean, we've nearly sold out our school theatre. So we are bound to make some money for your dad's cancer treatment. You said it's curable, right? "Rob nodded. " what if I mess up the performance? I did well in rehearsal today but what if I mess everything up at the hospital in front of everyone? "Sparkle squeeze his hand tighter. "You won't mess things up Rob, you'll do fine." Sparkle said.
Brain soon walked out, hopping onto sparkle's shoulder and nuzzling her. "Hello Brain sweetie." Sparkle spoke, nuzzling him.
"Hello, dear, I came out to see where you were, but it turns out you were talking to one of your classmates. "Rob was a little startled by the fact that there was a talking mouse talking to his best friend. "Don't tell me, did he just talk?"
Sparkle smiled, as the mouse she was indeed talking to hopped down to her hand so Rob could see him. "Yes." Brain responded simply. Rob shook his tiny little hand. Brain went back to her shoulder nuzzling her cheek affectionately. "We were just talking about the performance tonight, do you think you and pinky would be able to attend?" Brain nuzzled her cheek again.
"Of course we're attending sparkle, we wouldn't miss your first school play that we've seen. Of course me and pinky are going."
Rob smiled at the heart warming interaction. Brain kissed her cheek before hopping down. "I'll leave you to it. "
" One week later! "Rob and sparkle both harmonised, loving that Brain said something Hamilton related without even noticing he said something Hamilton related. Chuckling at whatever nonsense, the mouse left them to it. Rob feeling a little better. "Thanks for making me feel better, sparks, I really, really appreciate it. Thank you. "Sparkle smiled, as Rob got up to give her a hug. "You're welcome buddy, glad I could help. Well, as much as I would love to continue our little conversation, Leela messaged me and said the pizza is here, we better head back and stuff our face full of pizza so we're all nice and full for the performance tonight. "Rob laughed, his signature laugh ringing out of his mouth causing sparkle to smile. That's the laugh she liked, loud and hearty, not fake and forced. Rob got up, gesturing sparkle to go first. "After you, M'lady." He said in his Leonardo voice, as they wheeled and walked to the smell of pizza.
In the Burbank hospital.
Sparkle, Leela, Shay, Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Donnie, Rob, Jess, Tress, Maurice, and the rest of the school play cast were getting ready to set up. Everyone was in their costumes. Maurice checking everyone.
"Everyone ready?" He asked.
"Yeah!" The cast cheer.
But, not everyone was happy. Sparkle was very sad… she wanted her family to be there, but they were working late again. Brain and pinky Were supposed to watch her performance, but the two of them found some locations where snowball last was. Which resulted in them having to tell sparkle pretty last minute that they couldn't watch her performance. Which had the girl in a fit of tantrum. She expressed how it was unfair that Pinky and Brain couldn't watch her. Brain felt bad, of course he did, but he told her, like her parent, that she couldn't have exactly everything she wanted.
So now sparkle was sulking, because she didn't have anyone else to watch her.
Rob walked in on her crying. "Hey sparks? What's up?" Rob asked, only wearing his kingly robe.
"Pinky and Brain can't watch! That's why I'm angry!" He walks over and hugs her. "I'm sorry... but hey, aren't your parents coming? "Sparkle shook her head angrily. "There working late again? "Sparkle nodded her head angrily.
Rob turned to her. "Hey, there's no need to be angry sparkle… Just because you're mice Friends or your parents didn't show up, doesn't mean you can be angry… They're obviously busy, but hey you don't need them, at least right now anyway. You have all of us." Then, Donnie walked in.
"That's right sparks! You have all of us! I used to be so scared about making friends but you excepted me, and that's awesome!

Meanwhile.
"Snowball! Give it up! You're going to lose either way! So stop now! "Brain said, from his position, tied up and in chains.
Snowball laughed. "In your fanfiction dreams Brain! No way in hell! " he said going over to a monitor. " One portion of this button will send a nasty fumes into the air, once you're a human girl breathes it in, she'll be dead within hours! "He cackled. Brain and pinky were horrified. "snowball no! You can't do that! She has a performance tonight! "He shouted, feeling instant regret for not showing up. Snowball however, didn't care. He walked over pushing the button making the hair come out of the monitor and it float all the way to the victim.
Meanwhile, in the Burbank hospital. Sparkle and all of her friends were performing
But sparkle didn't feel good. She was sitting on the side of the stage, trying to restrain herself from fainting. They stopped the play early, because sparkle wasn't there. She felt sick and felt like she was nearly going to faint. "Rob! I-I feel like I'm gonna to faint!" She shouted at her head felt woozy.
Rob rushed over, kneeling down to her wheelchair-holding her hands. "It's okay… It's gonna be okay..." Rob comforted. Squeezing her hand tight. "Try and stay awake for me, okay? "She nodded his tears fell down her cheeks. "I'm sorry for ruining The play Rob..." she said, her voice tired, like she was about to fall asleep. She stared at Rob, tears streaming down her cheeks. Rob quickly gestured for one of the other cast members to sit in front of her, while he went to the back of her chair to tell her backwards. "It's okay sweetie… You can lie back…" she whispered, leaning her chair backwards as Jess sat in front of her. Jess took her hand, squeezing it tightly. "We're here for you Sapphire."
Rob came around to her, squeezing her other hand. "That's right… We are, and we always will babe. "He said.
Rob grew worried, he at least thought her mice friends would've come for the halfway point of the play, but they hadn't. Rob was growing worried, sparkle fainted, the play having to be cut short because of sparkle's fainting spell, had the 12-year-old worried. He stayed by her side, humming to her softly.
Rob quickly called a nurse, Who quickly guided her to a hospital bed and hooked up to machines. Rob and Leela stayed by her side, The only members of the cast the hospital staff would allow to stay with her. Sparkle began crying in her sleep like state. Rob rubbed her hand gently. " it's okay… I'm sure Brain and pinky are okay..."
He hoped they would be okay, wherever they were.
Her parents had finally come, telling her that she was so amazing, and that they were sorry for not being there when she needed the comfort. Rob and her best friend stayed all night, by her side, but she didn't wake up.
Pinky and Brain watched in horror at the sight of their human owner. Snowball had been nice enough to let them out of their chains to watch their human owner suffering. Brain was trying to suppress sobs, as one of his paws touched the screen as he was trying to think of a way to get out of here to see her. Pinky, bless his soul, had started chewing through every available thing to see if it would lead to an extent, but nothing he tried worked.
"Narf!" Pinky said in frustration, trying to scratch his way to the surface so that him and Brain could leave.
" pinky, my dear friend, there is no way we can get out of here… "But only made pinky try harder. Tears blurred his vision. Brain scampered over, wrapping his friend in a warm hug. Pinky didn't hug back, he was determined to get them out of here. If it meant seeing his son trying again, he would do absolutely anything, anything to see her again.
" Brain? Are you pondering what I'm pondering?" Pinky asked, and the other mouse smiled.
" yes pinky! I am pondering exactly what you're pondering! Let's get our baby girl back!"
