Chapter 5
Appa snored contentedly, unaware of the hand that was patting the crown of his head. Its owner sighed a little not even bothering to turn when he heard the Avatar's footsteps behind him. "I knew you'd escape, Aang. Can't say I know how. Don't know much about Avatar stuff, but you made it. I guess that's what really matters" Mu said.
The light had only just faded from Aang's eyes. He'd come fully intending to deal with the angered spirit using every bit of power the Avatar state allowed, but now he knew it wasn't necessary. "Gyatso always used to say that we can't concern ourselves with what was. We must act on what is," Aang recited. "It's not that I don't care about the past. I just can't afford to dwell on it. The Water Tribe, Omashu- People need me now and I'll be there to help however I can. Me, and my friends."
Mu smiled a little when his ashen form began to fade. He had to admit, he enjoyed seeing Aang again., even after all these years. He was the same determined kid who gave Gyatso way too much credit. The avatar watched as the spirit faded until there was only his voice on the wind, "New growth cannot exist without first the destruction of the old."
