~Thud~ "Ow"

~Thud~ "Ow"

After thirty minutes of being dragged by a Girl who he knew was younger than her, Hamazura's manhood shriveled into gnome size. He knew that the Girl who was dragging him along was a A rank adventurer, but his pride as a man really took damage. As a sign of stuggle, he went and wiggled like the Pitiful worm that he was and without warning. This was all useless, because he was being dragged not carried. As he continued struggling he recognized the area that they were going through, an area known to be a place where they would capture enemy soldiers and torture them for information. His face went full pale and as they got inside an unlit tent, he recognized a few cages with some of the enemy Soldiers being kept as prisoners.

"Um...can we talk about this first...Thunder Empress-sama..."

"Huh!?"

Misaka stops at her tracks and looks at him directly in the eyes.

"...Look, I'm not the one to decide what happens to a guy like you, so there's no hope for you even if you kiss my boots or stuff like that."

Without any warning, he was thrown across the room and straight into a cage.

"Wait here, I'm going to call the Captain over so they can decide on what type of punishment your getting." said the Chestnut haired Girl.

"eehh..." Hamazura looked around the cage.

~sigh~ "So cramp."

The Chestnut haired girl walks over to a certain tent where a Captain was staying at. She lets herself in and saw the Captain still awake and holding a letter with a stamp that the girl recognizes all to well.

"...so...did you catch the thief who broke into the storage?" asked the Captain.

"Yeah."

"Who was it?"

"A Mercenary."

"...Figures." said the Captain with a disappointed expression.

"Uhm...about the Subjugation on the Fallen Duke-"

"A letter has arrived! I'm certain you know where this is coming from."

She was cut off by the captain.

"You have been requested to return to Academia City."

"But what about the Subjugation!? We still don't know where that Corrupted Duke is. He hasn't shown himself since the start of this Coup. "

"That doesn't concern you. With how things are progressing, this will all be over in about a week or so. The men on the Duke's side are getting weaker, so you don't have to worry about anything."

"But!"

"Besides, this Level of threat doesn't concern us at all. You being here as a A rank adventurer already gives the enemy no hope of winning. So if you were to leave without anyone finding out, our chances of winning stays the same."

"... fine."

Just as she was about to leave, a crow landed inside the tent with a secret letter. The Captain reached for the letter and read what was inside of it.

"What does it say?" asked Misaka.

"Looks like they Located the Duke, he was found inside the tallest part of the Mansion."

"You mean that watch tower?"

"looks like it."

"So what now?"

The captain stood from his desk and walks out of his tent while carrying the letter.

"Captain?"

"...My orders were to execute that backstabbing Duke by any means necessary."

"If you wanna finish this Quest now, this is your chance."

The Captain raised his hand and Directed it to a tall tower that was about 5 kilometers away from their location.

She looks to that Place and got the gist of what the Captain wanted.

"As Leading Captain of this Brigade, I order you to finish the job."

"Yes sir."

She walks past the Captain and into an armory. Not a minute has passed and she got out with a spear in her hand.

The captain look to her direction with a bit of sweat dripping from his face and made his next command.

"Take Aim!"

She Possessions herself in a throwing possession directed to the Tower.

She closed her eyes to concentrated, her breathing changed and the atmosphere around her felt more heavy than usual.

"Hoooo...haaaa..."

As the Pressure around her became more heavy, Electricity was suddenly emitting all over her body. And the Captain signaled to fire.

"Fire!"

She Opened her eyes and threw the Spear like a Javelin.

"HAAA!!"

It moved at a pace untrackable by the human eye.

As the spear was thrown the Shock from the throw made the captain pushed back a little .

Not a minute has passed and the Spear Struck the Tower like an Incoming missile.

~*BOOOOMMM!!!!*~

As it hit the Tower, it made the sound of lightning striking from the clouds with a powerful impact that shock the tower and destroying it, not leaving a single brick to stand.

~Heavy Breathing~

"Good job. As expected of a A ranked adventurer, your title doesn't lie. By tomorrow we can Identify if you hit the target or not. So for now, go rest."

"Yes Sir."

As she walks away from the Captain, the Captain was left with his own thoughts.

"For an Adventurer, she sure doesn't act like one. She's more of a soldier than anything, a weapon perhaps. Now, to deal with that Mercenary."

The Captain walks into a tent where Hamazura was. Hamazura was laying down with his back against the cage sleeping or closing his eyes at least.

"So, you're the Thief."

"Um...What was that Explosion outside? What happened?"

The Captain ignored his Question and ask his own.

"...Tell me, what did you steal from the Storage house?"

"...I'll pay for what I stole, so let me out of here!"

"What did you Stole from the Storage house?"

"I-It was just meat, I swear."

The captain looked at Hamazura with distrusting eyes.

The captain stared at Hamazura with cold and Emotionless eyes.

"!?" Hamazura felt Shivers run down his spine.

"I don't care for the meat. tell me. What. Else. Did. You. Steal?"

Hamazura felt his hands shaking, the Atmosphere the person was giving off was filled with killing intent. So in Submission, he slowly reached out to one of his boots and pulled out a small marble sized Crystal.

"H-Here."

Hamazura passed the Crystal to the Captain with his hands shaking uncontrollably.

"Good."

"What is that thing? Why is it so important to you people!?"

The captain slowly walks out of the Tent and again Ignored the Question. But Hamazura calls out to him.

"W-Wait, What's gonna happen to me?"

"You're Punishment will be met by tomorrow. The reason why This thing is so important is the same reason why your buyers wanted this. So whoever sent you doesn't matter to us, this thing has one function and You've failed in your mission, that means that they don't need you anymore."

"huh!?"

"I don't think killing you is worth of a punishment for a mercenary of your level. So...you get to live another day."

With that said, the captain walks away with the mysterious Crystal that Hamazura was tasked to steal by a Mysterious buyer.

The next day. Misaka Mikoto received report the target was Successfully annihilated. She got her things ready and decided to leave the Base. She wore a Cloak to cover her entire body so that no one would recognize her. As she passed by the course, she saw the guy she captured last night to be running around the Track course with a pack of Horned Dogs right behind him.

"...Sucks to be that guy."

As she exited the Base she saw from a Distance was a man who was slowly loading his cart beside a house with a few boxes.

She approaches the Guy and saw that he was having a hard time carrying those boxes. He looked weak and skinny, not something you find to be a quality for a merchant to have.

"Um...Can I ask where this Carriage is going?"

"Hmm? To a town just a few miles in that Direction. Why?"

"Can I ask to ride with you?"

"...That will be 1 silver for the ride."

"Okay, here."

As she paid for her ride, she sat down beside the carriage and waited as the coachman loaded his Cargo. As she watched the coachman carry the boxes back and forth into the carriage, she could see that the coachman was having a hard time with the boxes.

"Um...Want me to help you out?"

"hmm..."

The Coachman looks back inside the house and saw that there were still a dozen boxes inside.

"Y-Yeah...it would be a great help."

"Great, the faster we load up the sooner we could get moving."

She laid her sword beside the Carriage and started helping the man carry all the boxes to the Carriage.

a few Minutes later*

As they finished loading, Misaka excused herself to Powder her nose.

(AN: Going to a toilet...I know, it feels out of place...or does it?)

As she left, the coachman decided to rest for a few seconds with a book to cover his face and as he did, a boy called out to him.

As the boy payed for his ride, Misaka came back from the restroom wearing all her equipment and with her cloak covering her face. She saw the Coachman getting ready to go, so she walk behind the Carriage and saw an Unexpected passenger to already sitting inside.

(Huh!? Its the guy from last night.) Thought Misaka.

She got in and the carriage began to move.

Moments pass and they traveled halfway from the house. The carriage shook and not long after, she heard the Boy who sat in front of her say something.

"Chestnut..."

(Huh!?)

(AN: Kamijou's POV)

"Chestnut..."

As he said those words, he notice the girl jolt a little bit. Although he didn't really care since his just a stranger to her.

"Soo...Where you headed?" asked Kamijou in an attempt to start a conversation.

"Eh...Um...N-nice weather we're having huh."

As soon as he said that, rain suddenly started pouring from the sky.

"Ah..."

(WHY!!!???)

As rain began to pour more heavily , Kamijou began to worry if they would make it to the Town.

"Coachman-san is the town nearby?"

"Yeah, just up ahead. We can start to see a sign in a few minutes by now."

As they traversed through the Storm, Kamijou could see a Sign that said "Little Town".

"Is that it?"

"Yeah, Hold on. We'll have to go straight to a restaurant so I can unload the boxes and you guys can stay there for a hours until this storm ends.

"Okay."

As they passed by the town, Kamijou noticed a few people taking cover from the rain and children jumping on puddles.

One thing Kamijou could say was that the town lives up to it name.

The place was a village just like his hometown, not that few many people and the houses could fit a Family of four. Although it may seem small, Kamijou noticed that it was quite developed. Stores were selling Top-notch Items and high Quality potions. Usually small villages would have a hard time managing their livelihood since not a lot of people can prosper. So Kamijou had to question it.

"Um...Coachman-san what is this place?"

"Hmm? This place is called Little town. Not a few people live here but this place is known as a Stop place for adventurers to re stock their Items, since this is Located near a D rank Dungeon."

"A Dungeon!?" Kamijou was surprised. His never been inside dungeons his entire life, so hearing that a dungeon was here in this little town was quite special for Kamijou. He got a Book out of his bag and wrote down the location of this place, since it might be a place he'll return to once his finish with the Quest.

As Kamijou wrote down Little town on his book, the carriage stops and the Girl with a cloak got out of the carriage first and entered the restaurant.

"Yo, we're here." said the coachman to inform Kamijou.

"Y-yeah."

"Well, this is my stop. You guys will have to figure out what to ride from here on out."

"Yeah, thanks Coachman-san."

"No prob."

Kamijou got off the Carriage and saw the Restaurant sign.

"Nicollo's Kitchen?"

"Yep, this place is Top notch when it comes to its Food and is a good place to stay for a night or two." said the Coachman.

Kamijou went inside and saw a woman greeting him. She was chewing a potato for some reason while holding on a menu.

"Um..."

"Hmm? Oh...Welcome to Nicollo's Kitchen. I'm Sasha a waitress of this place, please follow me."

"Okay."

Kamijou followed the Brown haired girl to a table in front of the serving place of the chefs. Once he was seated, Sasha gave him the Menu she was holding.

"I'll be back with your order."

"okay."

Once the girl left to handle the other costumers, Kamijou went to look around the place and noticed that the restaurant had a Second floor. The Coachman mentioned that this was also an inn, so Kamijou presumed that the second floor was where the vacant rooms were.

He looked around the restaurant and saw the Girl without the hood covering her head and was sitting at a corner. She had her Back facing him so Kamijou could only see her chestnut hair.

"So it really is her."

After a while the Waitress came back and took his order.

"What will you have today?"

(This place sure is crowded. Its still morning, so I'll probably take a breakfast course meal.)

"I'll get the breakfast course meal."

"Okay, and for drinks?"

"Um, I'll just go with water."

"Okay, I'll be back with your order."

Once she left, he was left to his own. He took out the letter and checked if it got wet, luckily for him, the letter was fine.

(A lot of things happened and I still haven't reached Academia City yet. At this rate I might even be later to deliver this letter...I gotta get back on the road even if the rain doesn't stop. I'll walk to Academia City if I have to.)

While contemplating on what to do, Kamijou noticed that someone was coming down from upstairs. One thing he noticed was that She wore all white from top to bottom. The atmosphere around her felt holy and light which caught the attention of everyone in the restaurant. she was accompanied by another person who was wearing light armor and was carrying a tall Spear.

"Huh?...wait is that...wait... Why is she coming towards me?"

"I've Finally found you!"

"Eh..S-Sister index?"

"Yep."

"Ehhh..."

"Sister Index, is this the Adventurer you mentioned?" said the girl who was wearing light armor.

"And this is?"

"Hmm? Oh, this is Itsuwa-san, a B ranked adventurer."

"Eh! B?"

"Yep, she was task to Guard me as I looked for you."

"Ehhh!! Why!?"

As Kamijou questioned Index for her arrival. The Waitress, Sasha came in with a tray of food that Kamijou Ordered.

"Here you go."

"T-Thank you."

The Waitress walks away and with a smile on her face and a Potato on her hand.

"Um...So tell me Again on why you're here!?"

"Uhh..."

Index was spacing out as Kamijou questioned her. Her mouth suddenly drooled as she smelled the freshly fried Bacon with egg alongside the toasted bread with butter on top.

"...oy."

~Grumble~

~Grumble~

~Grumble~

"hmm...you should order something while you explain to me what you're here for."

"Ahh, you're right."

Index sat down to a chair right next to Touma with Itsuwa standing right beside her.

"um... You should sit down as well." said Touma to Itsuwa with a kind expression.

"Y-yes." replied Itsuwa in a shy manner.

She sat down and picked something from the menu.

"I guess I'll have Beefsteak and you Index-sama?"

"Hmm...which one of these has the largest portion? hmm...I guess I'll have the Curry Course."

Once they were ready to order, the Waitress came back and took their order.

"I'll have the Beefsteak and she will have the Curry Course meal."

"3 Plates of those please."

"Eh!?" said Kamijou as he dined on his Breakfast.

(She has a Big Appetite for a small girl, and the other one seems to like heavy foods.) thought Kamijou.

"Um...So can you tell me the reason on why you guys came here?"

"Oh yeah, it was about just yesterday when-"

~~~~Flashback noises~~~~
Its been Half a day since Kamijou Left Marginal Kingdom to deliver the letter from the Church.
While Kamijou was on his way to Academia City, Back at the Kingdom, inside the Church where a certain Priest was struggling to change the Mind of a certain Silver-haired nun.
"Index!"
"Let me go Stiyl, that boy might die before he even arrives at the Academy!"
"You can't go! You have your responsibilities here as a Priestess to manage and Support the People of this Kingdom with our beliefs and blessings."
"But that Boy will die at this rate if there's no one their to Support him on his Journey. I gotta go after him."
"Was it because of that Moment? Was it because he lied about the blessing? Index, He's an Adventurer. Adventurers must take risk for them to make a name of themselves. That boy was well aware of his Situation."
"But I can't just sit here and Wait for him as he returns. He might not..."
"Out of all the People who we hired to take on a job, they all receive my blessing and each and every one of them came back with their life intact...I worry that he might be the first to..."
Stiyl could see the worry on the Nuns eyes.
"Index...I understand that you worry for this boy, but as a Child of the Church, I can't let you go...not without the permission of the Archbishop."
"Stiyl..."
"I'm Sorry."
As they stood inside the hallway of the Church, a certain someone whose hair was as Gold as the Sun came and Approached the two, along with her was a woman who was carrying a long one-sided sword with armor that only covered her lower half.
"Why not let her go, Stiyl." said the Blonde Girl.
"Archbishop!? Kanzaki..."
"Archbishop-sama."
As they both noticed the two, they quickly bowed their heads in respect.
"Raise your heads you two. Geez, its not like I'm important or anything."
"But you are."
"Oh."
"Anyway, I heard that you want to go after the adventurer that recently accepted our special quest."
"Yes, Archbishop-sama."
"Hmm...sure why not."
"What!?" said Stiyl in shock.
"R-really?"
"Yeah, but you have to go with some company."
"Eh."
"Don't worry, I'll assign someone that can properly protect her in her journey." said Kanzaki.
"Really Kanzaki, Thank you."
"Don't mention it. Come, follow me. We have to go look for a proper guard for you."
"Yes!" said Index with a full on Smile.
"...Are you sure about this Archbishop, Laura Stuart?" asked Stiyl.
"Hmm...yeah I am."
"...What are you planning right now?" asked Stiyl in a concerned tone.
"Don't worry about it."
"It's my job to worry!"
Stiyl felt conflicted. He knows that the archbishop is scheming something, she always plans for something. But the scenario that's happening right now is felling more troubling for Stiyl than anything else.
"Does this have to do with that Boy not being able to receive a blessing!?"
The Archbishop didn't say anything but Stiyl could tell that she was smiling, like a devil in Pope's clothing.
"Uhhh...This is gonna be bad."
Flashback to Present*
As Index Finished explaining the reason why she came her, she continues to gobble up the third plate of curry.
"So let me get this straight. You were allowed to travel with me by some chill Archbishop just so you can not feel guilty about me dying?"
"ah.."
Kamijou could see that Index stopped chowing down on her Curry and look at him with angry but Sincere eyes.
"...I...It's not as simple as that."
Index had trouble putting it into words but she knows want she wants to say.
"Everybody doesn't want someone to die. Especially me...I came here to support you not just because I feel guilty but because it's natural for someone to save another."
"I Just..."
"No need. I get what you're trying to say...thanks." Kamijou said so in a sincere kind manner.
And in response, Index smiled. Her Innocent smile unexpectedly made our Boy Kamijou to Blush.
"So, what do you say? Will you allow us to join you in your travels?"
"Yeah, sure why not."
~End Scene~
