Chapter 5: Toph II
"So you couldn't bend this whole time and you didn't bother to tell me!" Katara shouted.
"I didn't want you to worry." Aang says in a low tone.
"Well of course I would worry! ITS NORMAL!" She yelled.
"Katara chill, i'll get it back soon." Aang says trying to calm her down.
"CHILL!? I've chilled this whole time yet you keep lying to me!" She shouts.
"I never lied to you. You never asked me about my bending, so I basically didn't lie." Aang says trying to make peace.
"So is this why you've been acting so weird lately!? Because your bending is gone!" She yells.
"Katara I'm sorry for-"
"No sorry won't do it!" She yells"
"Then what will?" He asked.
"NOTHING!" She yells and storms off.
Aang buries his face in his knees. He's angry. Not a Katara..at himself. He feels like he betrayed his mind..betrayed Katara.
"Avatar Aang.."
No response.
"Avatar Aang.."
Aang shuts his eyes tightly. "Leave me alone"
"Like I said before, I would have to take your brain with me."
"I said.. LEAVE ME ALONE!"
"...So blowing off steam eh?"
"Ugh!" Aang says smashing his fist in the tree.
"That'll leave a bruise.."
No response
"You know you did what's right, admitting the truth. She has no right to be mad at you."
"I guess you're right.."
"I'm always right.."
"So.."
"So you're one step closer to getting your bending back."
"REALLY?!"
"Don't get your hopes up, the other steps are much harder."
"Wait.."
Aang smashes his hand into the tree...nothing happens.
"Oh..
"Mmm"
"Why did everything go black when I tried to bend?"
"Because you lost control."
"I don't understand"
"You're forcing yourself to do something it can't."
"What?.."
"You'll understand one day.."
"Okay...:"
"Are you still there?"
Aang hears nothing so he stands up and heads to the house. When he enters he is greeted by Toph and Sokka. He goes to the balcony and stares at the sunset. "Hey.."
Aang turns to see Katara. "Hey.."
"Listen I'm.."
"No, Katara don't apologize. I shouldn't have kept it from you" He said.
"Well I had no reason to yell..I'm sorry.."
"Me too."
"I just don't understand..why didn't you tell me?" She asked him.
"I just didn't want you to worry." He tells her.
"Well, how did you get it taken away?" She asks him.
"I..I don't know" He lies.
"Are you okay?" She asks.
"Yeah.." he says.
"Okay.." She says kissing him on the cheek before walking out.
It is a quiet night. Katara is asleep while Aang is sitting on the balcony.
"Yo, Twinkle toes." Toph said.
"Hey Toph.."
"You remember the talk we had the other night…"
"Yeah.."
"Just so you know I heard the whole conversation with you and Katara.." She says.
"You did?"
"Yes and I don't think I can trust you with these secrets anymore.."
"Toph I told Katara-"
"NO SHE FOUND OUT! ALL YOU DO IS LIE LIE LIE ALL DAY! I SAID I WOULD TELL EVERYONE IF IT GOT OUT OF HAND!"
"Toph.."
"I'M TELLING EVERYONE TOMORROW MORNING..I'M TELLING THEM..everything."
"Toph please.." But Toph left, leaving Aang in the deep shadows.
