Chapter 5 Pokémon Tower

Walking through the streets of Vermilion, Ash was heading towards the Poke Mart to gather supplies for his trip to Lavender Town. Ash wanted to try and focus on his team's weaknesses during the next month. At least to the point where each team member had a way to fight back.

Inferno is weak to water, ground, and rock. He had thunder punch for water types. Then metal claw, iron tail, and brick break for rocks, but nothing for ground. He would probably have Atlas try and teach Inferno dig.

Sky is weak to ice, dragon, and fairy. All her dragon moves would work against other dragons, and her two fire moves would work against ice and fairy types. She would have flamethrower down in a few days. So, Ash wanted to try and introduce her to an ice type move so that she could try and build a smaller resistant to it or at least decrease how it affects her as it will be the main threat to her once she is fully evolved. He would probably have both her and Atlas work on icy wind together.

Luna is weak to fighting, bug, and fairy. She was the one that would be the most difficult. She had iron tail for fairy types, but the other two would be the hard part. She couldn't really learn anything that would work against bug types. As for fighting, she could learn a few psychic type moves, although they would be extremely hard for her to learn, Ash would most likely need to buy her TM.

Zeus is only weak to ground types. Ice punch was the only effective move he could learn that would work against a ground type until he evolved. So far now Ash would have him work on some more attacking moves until he got too Celadon. Once Ash reached Celadon, he planned on buying a defense TM like protect for his team and work on their defensive abilities on his trek to Fuchsia.

Atlas was only weak to electric and grass types, but he would evolve anytime now and would gain a ground typing, making him immune to electric typing, but even weaker to grass types. Working on ice types would be a big focus for him now, he would work on icy wind with Sky.

Ash knew he wanted to get a ghost, steel, ice, and psychic type. He was going to Lavender Town for the sole reason of getting a ghost type, a steel type would be hard as there weren't main good one's native to Kanto, maybe he could get lucky and find a non-native steel type somewhere. Ash would head towards Seafoam Islands eventually to look for an ice type, but that would be after the S.S Anne, so he would put getting an ice type behind his mind for now. As for a psychic, his mind was blank. He didn't really know where psychic types could be found, he would have to be lucky to find one or maybe he could find the very rare Jinx at Seafoam and kill two birds with one stone or even perhaps he could find someone to make a trade with him.

Trading was something that Ash hadn't thought about. There were global trading networks at each Pokémon Center. They allowed trainers to trade throughout the regions, requesting the Pokémon's they wanted or listing the ones they were willing to trade. Ash knew for a fact he could probably get almost any Pokémon for Sky, but he would never trade her. Although Ash got Luna to agree to come with him first, Sky was technically the first Pokémon he caught. She was a great Pokémon and easy to work with and there weren't many other Pokémon that he could get for her that would be a strong once she was fully evolved, he had no reason to trade her off.

Going with those thoughts, Ash didn't have any Pokémon he would be willing to trade on his team. He loved his team; they were his family. The more time Ash spent out in the wilderness alone with just his team, the closer he got to them. Perhaps he could find a certain Pokémon someone from out of Kanto wanted for the sole purpose of trading. For now, he would put trading in the back of his head and focus on getting a ghost type at Lavender.

Walking into the Poke Mart, Ash was quick to gather the supplies he would need before purchasing them and heading out.

He walked towards the Pokémon Center to get his team checked out one more time before he would head out.

Setting up camp for the first day of their travels, Ash brought out his team to explain what they would be doing during on their way to Lavender.

"Alright guys, on our way to Lavender, I want you guys to learn moves that can help you fight against your weaknesses. Inferno, I want you to work on dig so you can have a move to counter ground types, it'll also be a good defense move like how Zeus used quick attack to make his attacks faster and evade moves easier, you can dig underground to avoid other attacks. your other moves are good for your other weaknesses for right now, if you need help with dig then ask Atlas." said Ash towards Inferno getting a nod from his starter.

"Sky, you already got moves that counter all your weaknesses. So, all we need to do is get you more powerful upgrades to those moves. Finish working out the kinks in your flamethrower, ask Inferno if you need help. Afterwards, I want you to try and gather a resistant to ice types move since they'll be your greatest weakness once you've became a Dragonite. So, start trying to gain an understanding of ice energy, work on icy wind once you have finished with flamethrower, come to me if you need help and we can look up more information about it, I'll also have Atlas working on that move with you, okay?" said Ash towards Sky, who gave a small coo in return with a nod.

"Luna, you have iron tail which will be good for fairy types, but for bug and fighting is where the issue is. Once we reach Celadon, I'm going to buy you psychic TMs so that you can counter fighting types, but you can't really learn anything that will be good against bugs, but we are lucky that Umbreon's are known for having high defense and special defense, so you'll always be able to take a hit. We will just have to get you more defense moves, and healing moves, so for now keep working on confuse ray." said Ash looking at his dark type who nodded in understanding.

"Zeus, your weak against ground types only, and as of right now you've already got the only effective move you can learn to use against them being ice punch, so for now I want you to focus on getting discharge down, then you'll work on iron tail. Like with Luna, I plan on getting you some TMs that focus on your defense." said Ash towards Zeus who grunted agreeably and walked away to start working on discharge.

"Atlas, your very close to evolving, once you do, you'll lose your weakness to electric types, but you'll be even weaker against grass types. Ice types aren't very hard to learn for water types, but it'll be harder once you've gained your ground typing, so I want you to get used to ice typing's before that. So go ahead and start working on icy wind with Sky, alright?" said Ash towards Atlas, who got a determined nod in return.

Ash sat down at a clearing as he began to go through his Pokedex to look at new ways to improve his team, as they worked on their respective moves.

Realizing that he hadn't informed his mom about his win against Surge, he decided to pull out his Pokenav and call the Lab.

"Hello? Oh Ash my boy, how are you?" said the Professor who picked up the call.

"Hey Professor, I'm doing good, I beat the Vermilion City Gym yesterday and got a ticket for the S.S Anne, I'm heading towards Lavender Town right now to try and capture a Ghost type." replied Ash.

"That's good, means you've been progressing well, only the best trainers will beat Surge right now since the League gave him the order to not hold back since he is handing out those tickets." said the Professor making Ash feel proud from his praise.

"As for Lavender Town, be careful, Ghost type can be mischievous, its more comforting to know that you have a dark type to help though." said the Professor.

"Yea, I'll be careful, but I know Luna and the rest of my team will watch my back" said Ash with a smile.

"Well, I best get back to work, I'll call your mom over so you can talk with her, good luck my boy and stay safe." said the Professor who gave a smile before walking away from the phone.

Ash waited for a moment before he smiled as his mother's face appeared on the call.

"Hi Ashy, how are you doing? Are you changing your underwear?" asked Delia with a smile once she saw Ash.

"Hey mom and yea, I'm doing good, I just won the badge from Vermilion's Gym and got a ticket for the S.S Anne, I'm heading towards Lavender Town right now." said Ash with a smile.

"That's good sweetie, how are your Pokémon?" asked Delia.

"There doing great, I have them working on moves that be good for their weakness." said Ash

"Oh, that's a good idea." said Delia.

"Yea, there working really hard, both Sky and Atlas are close to evolving." said Ash with a smile as he looked over towards his team

"That's great honey, I can't wait to meet them away when you return." said Delia.

"Yea, I'll probably head back to Pallet Town after getting the Cinnabar Islands badge and train there to take on Sabrina and Giovanni." said Ash.

"That sounds like a great plan, I can't wait to see you again. Oh, I've got to go now, but I'll talk to you seen, love you Ashy, stay safe." said his mom as she ended the call.

Ash put his Pokenav away as he glanced over towards his team and smiled proudly at them.

Half ways to Lavender, Ash looked at his team's progress with the moves they were working on. Inferno didn't have dig down yet, but had made better progress than he had expected. Sky was struggling with icy wind and would probably take the rest of the trip to get it down. Luna had confuse ray down, but just needed to work out any kinks. Zeus and Atlas had both got discharge and icy wind set, so Zeus began to work on iron tail. For Atlas. Ash had tried to give him spars and battles against other trainers he found on the road to try and help him evolve.

Right now, Ash had set up a small spare between Atlas and Sky. Both would be the next to evolve in his team, and even though Atlas would be the first one, Sky wouldn't be too far behind.

Watching the fight, Atlas had dug down to avoid a dragon breath from Sky. He quickly dug back up smacking into Sky before unleashing a water pulse towards her, which was destroyed by an aqua tail.

Sky used agility to rush towards Atlas and used shock wave. The electric attack hit Atlas directly causing him immense pain. Atlas was quickly wrapped up by Sky's long serpent like body

Then there was a flash of light.

Atlas began to glow bright white as his body began to change. He stood up on two legs with his arms growing out looking like fins. His belly took the color orange, with the fin on top of his head becoming darker, but his overall skin turning into a cyan blue. With the light diminishing, their stood a Marshtomp.

Sky was quick to release Atlas from her grasp and gave him space.

Ash smiled as he walked towards Atlas, who was struggling to stay on his feet. Ash would have him spend the rest of the week adjusting to his body since he had original stood on all fours, he would need to get used to walking on two feet.

"Congratulation's buddy, you look great." said Ash with a smile towards Atlas.

Atlas smiled back and bent his head down in acknowledgement towards his trainer, but was then hit by an electric attack from Zeus, which didn't do anything.

Zeus, who was grinning, kept trying to shock Atlas, but was slowly losing the grin as he realized the attacks weren't doing anything to him.

Atlas grinned back at him, before shooting a shoot of mud directly in his face.

Zeus quickly fell onto the ground and sat up with his eyes narrowed. He groaned at the new revelation. Atlas was resistant to his main attacks, and now would have an advantage against him.

Ash shook his head at the actions while grabbing out his Pokedex and scanning the newly evolved water type.

Marshtomp the Mud Fish Pokémon. The surface of Marshtomp's body is enveloped by a thin, sticky film that enables it to live on land.

This Marshtomp is a male and has the Ability Torrent which powers up water type moves when the users HP is low.

Moves are Tackle, Water Gun, Bide, Mud-Slap, Rock Tomb, Scald, Water Pulse, Dig, Icy Wind, and Mud Shot.

"So, you learned a new move huh." said Ash with a smile.

"Alright, so for the rest of the week, just get used to your body and go through all your attacks to work them out with the new change, okay?" asked Ash who got a nod back from Atlas.

"Okay guys, take a rest for the remainder of the day. We'll train a bit more tomorrow morning before we hit the road again." said Ash towards his team who all send their respective cries of understanding.

Reaching Lavender, Ash was proud of his team. Inferno and Sky had both gotten the moves they were weak too down as they arrived in the town. Luna had finished confuse ray half ways through the last week and began to work on wish. Zeus, finished iron tail quickly and began to work on mega punch. Atlas had gotten used to his new body, but hadn't really worked on any new moves, Ash wanted to get him checked out by the Pokémon Center before he started anything new.

Walking around, the town seemed to be very quiet. Everyone kept to themselves and were ignoring anything else.

Arriving at the Pokémon Center he greeted Nurse Joy before handing her his Poke Balls.

"Hey Nurse Joy is something going on in the town?" asked Ash.

"Oh, well there have been some rumors about something in the Pokémon Tower, whatever is going on there is causing the ghost types in the Pokémon Tower to act up more than usually and be far more aggressive." said Nurse Joy with a frown.

"Really, do you have any idea what it might be?" he asked.

"No, I don't. Are you planning on heading to the tower while you're here?" asked Nurse Joy.

"Yea, that was the main reason why I came here, I wanted to capture a ghost type." replied Ash.

"Well, if you're planning on going, I can't really stop you, but I would recommend going to Mr. Fuji's house and talking to him before heading to the tower." said the Nurse.

Ash nodded at that before asking for directions to the house.

Once his Pokémon were done healing, he walked out of the Pokémon Center with a thanks towards Nurse Joy before heading towards Mr. Fuji's house.

Walking around Lavender Town, Ash felt a weird feeling in his gut, if wondered if this feeling came from all the ghostly energy or this was what was causing the ghost to start acting differently.

Walking up the small path to Mr. Fuji's house, once he arrived at the front door he knocked on it.

"Who is it?" called out a quiet voice from inside.

"Hi, my name is Ash Ketchum, Nurse Joy had recommended that I come over here before heading to the Pokémon Tower." said Ash behind the door.

The door slightly opened revealing a young girl peeking out with an eye.

"Um, are you a trainer?" she asked.

"Yes, I came to talk to Mr. Fuji before heading to the Pokémon Tower." replied Ash.

"Oh, um my grandfather isn't here at the moment, he headed to the Pokémon Tower a couple of days ago to investigate what was going on with the ghost types, but hasn't returned yet." she said sadly.

"Mr. Fuji is your grandfather." asked Ash.

"Y-yes, my name is Reina." she said.

"So, your grandfather hasn't come back and It's been a few days already?" asked Ash.

"Yes." replied Reina looking down.

"Okay, have you called the police?" asked Ash.

"No, I haven't yet." she replied.

"Okay, can you call them and I'll head to the tower to see if I can find him, alright?" said Ash.

"Really, you'll go look for him?" she asked looking up.

"Yea, just make sure to call the police." said Ash.

"Okay, I'll go do that right now thank you for helping." said Reina with a smile

"Yea, no problem, I'll be back soon." said Ash with a smile as he walked back down the path with a wave.

Arriving in front of the tower, Ash was quick to release Luna next to him.

"Hey girl, this is the Pokémon Tower, there's supposed to be ghost type here, but supposably they have been acting more aggressive lately so I'm going to need you to watch out for me, okay?" said Ash towards his dark type.

Luna looked up at Ash and nodded before taking a few steps in front of him. Ash smiled at that as he began to walk inside the tower.

Walking into the Pokémon Tower, Ash heard nothing but silence. It was oddly soothing, but terrifying at the same time.

Slowly walking around before reaching a staircase, he climbed it.

Reaching the next level, he felt an odd pressure on his body. He began to walk around, looking at the tombstones of multiple Pokémon. Ash pondered how it must feel too burry one of your own Pokémon. He couldn't imagine how much pain it must give.

Reaching the next level of stairs, he began the climb and once reaching the top he felt the same pressure again, except this time it was more powerful.

Going up the next set of stairs, he reached the 4th level, and was once again hit with the same pressure with more power. This time though, something caught his eye.

Team Rocket grunts.

There were two walking around the 4th level, close to the next set of stairs. Ash's mind began to run with questions.

What was Team Rocket doing here?

Were they the reason the ghost types were acting differently?

Did Mr. Fuji run into them and get caught?

Were they the reason behind that heavy pressure?

Ash quickly moved to the side with Luna following.

"Okay Luna, it's dark in here so you have the advantage, blend into your surroundings and be sneaky. I'm going to release Sky to take them from the front, but if something happens, I want you to come from the shadows, okay?" said Ash towards Luna, who gave a hard nod in return.

Ash was quick to release Sky.

"Hey Sky, I'm going to need your help, Team Rocket are here and they may have a hostage, Luna will support you from the shadow's if you need it, okay?" said Ash towards his dragon type who turned her attention towards the oblivious grunts waiting for command.

"So, do you know how much longer it'll take until it's summoned?" asked one of the grunts catching his attention.

"Honestly, I don't know, Lady Ariana heard about a powerful ghost type being here and wanted to come and capture it, but that machine there using to try and summon it is taking longer than they thought." said the other grunt.

Ash eyes narrowed at that, whatever machine they were using was probably the reason why the ghost types were being more aggressive, it might be harming them. His mind wondered to what type of Pokémon was here that they were trying to capture too.

"Sky, slip into agility and paralyze them with thunder wave." said Ash.

Sky was quick to follow his order and slithered towards the rocket grunts catching them off guard before hitting them with a thunder wave, dropping both of them to the ground instantly.

"Luna, come out and use confuse ray on both of them, just to make sure they stay down." called out Ash towards the shadows were Luna instantly jumped out and followed his command.

Luna smiled at Sky and Ash before jumping back into the shadows.

Climbing the next level of stairs, he reached the 5th floor and found 5 more grunts. Before announcing his presence, he released Zeus.

"Hey Zeus, so these guys here are called team rocket, there bad people and were going to stop them. I want you to help Sky with paralyzing them, so use quick attack to get close and then thunder wave." said Ash towards his electric type.

Zeus nodded as he started to gather electricity in his arms before rushing with quick attack as Sky reused agility and both performed thunder wave, hitting two of the grunts each.

Before the last grunt could release a Pokémon, Luna jumped from the shadows and hit the grunt with a shadow ball.

Zeus was quick to hit him with a thunder wave as Luna began to use confuse ray as well.

"Good job guys, I believe there's only 7 levels, were on the 5th right now so we've got 2 more." said Ash towards his team.

Sky and Zeus quickly took a spot next to him as Luna jumped back into the shadows.

Walking up the next floor Ash saw three grunts, but each had a Pokémon by their sides. There was a Weezing, Raticate, and Golbat.

Ash wanting to keep Luna in the shadows released Atlas.

After explaining what was going on to the mud fish Pokémon. He announced what he wanted them to do.

"Alright, here is the plan, Zeus and Sky, once we charge in, I want both of you to use shock wave right away on the Golbat, they are fast Pokémon and I don't want to have to deal with one of them flying around. Atlas use scald first on the Weezing, then try and knock it out as fast as possible, they aren't very powerful Pokémon, but they can explode and that could destroy us if close enough, those two are the biggest threats. Then gang up on the Raticate after. Luna, try and sneak up on the grunts and take them out before they can command their Pokémon to do anything or release anymore." said Ash towards his team who all prepared to engage.

Charging up, Zeus and Luna quickly fired off shock waves catching the Golbat off guard and dropping it to the ground, it tried to get up but was hit by one more shock wave from a grinning Zeus, knocking it out.

Atlas was quick to knock back the Weezing with a scald. Weezing groaned from the surprise attack and tried to fire a move back, but was hit with another water pulse from Atlas. The raticate rushed him, but was intercepted by a thunder punch from Zeus. Atlas nodded at him before firing another water pulse towards Weezing, smacking into the Pokémon once more before Sky finished it off with a shockwave doing more damage as it was wet.

Zeus was in battle with the Raticate as it lunged towards him with its fangs glowing before being blasted with boiling water from Atlas, Zeus was quick to use discharge on the rat knocking it out.

Turning towards the grunts, Ash saw them on the ground paralyzed and confused with Luna and Sky next to them.

"Great job you guys, 1 more level to go." said Ash towards his Pokémon who grunted or smiled at the praise.

Grabbing his starter's Poke Ball, he was quick to release him and explain everything going on. The next level would probably have the person in charge there, he would need his most powerful Pokémon aware of what was going on.

Walking up the final set of stairs with his Pokémon by his team, they all felt the same pressure, but oddly enough, it wasn't as powerful as before, once he reached the top, he saw two grunts standing around a red-haired girl with a white uniform on. He assumed it was the Ariana that he heard the first pair of grunts talking about. He also saw an old man who was tied up in the corner of the room and assumed that it was Mr. Fuji.

Before Ash could say anything to his team, a Haunter came out of nowhere making noise towards the Rocket members before taking its place next to one of the grunts, who turned around and saw Ash.

"Huh, what the hell are you doing here kid?" asked one of the grunts.

"How'd you get all the way up here?" said the other.

"Wait a minute." said the red-haired staring at Sky.

"Kid, you're the one who ruined our plans in Mt. Moon huh, I remember Proton saying something about a brat with a shiny Dratini." she said with a smirk.

Ash ignored her as his team made way to the side of him preparing for a fight.

"Wow, pretty nice team you got there. Don't worry I'll make sure there taken care of, but first off how rude of me to not introduce myself, I am Executive Ariana." she said with a grin.

Ash clenched his fist and quickly made an order.

"Zeus and Sky, use shock wave."

As both attacks launched towards the Rocket members, the Haunter from before jumped in the way of both attacks. The grunts and Ariana were quick to release Pokémon.

Both grunts released a Golbat each with Ariana releasing a Muk, and Vileplume.

Ash held being sick from the smell of the Muk.

"Zeus and Sky, take down the Golbats quick. Inferno go for the Vileplume and Atlas go for the Muk." said Ash towards his team who reacted quickly to the commands.

With those orders, all hell broke loss as each Pokémon began to fight with one another.

Inferno was blasting large flames towards the surprising quick Vileplume, who was spamming powders of different color all over.

Zeus was fighting one of the Golbats, but was being smacked from the air with the Golbat being too fast for him to keep up with.

Sky had more look being able to hit a shock wave off on the other Golbat, she quickly took advantage of its injuries as she launched a direct dragon breath towards it.

Atlas seemed to be having trouble with the Muk, who was covering the whole ground with waves of sludge. With those actions, Ash realized that the poison won't have any effects on its allies as they are all part poison, and Ash's whole team had no immunity to poison. The only effective move that would work on Muk would be dig, but digging down would drop Atlas or Inferno to the previous floor.

Muk was the biggest threat as of now.

"Everyone, Muk is the biggest threat right now, stop it from spreading it's poisons!" called out Ash quickly not noticing Ariana grabbing another Poke Ball.

Sky, who had knocked out the Golbat already, rushed towards the Muk before being slammed by a surprising Arbok.

Ash cursed at the new arrival as he noticed Ariana put her Poke Ball back on her belt.

Sky and the Arbok were quickly slithering around the top level of the Pokémon Tower, blasting attacks toward each other. Sky released a flamethrower which was countered by a dark pulse. They kept firing attack and attacks.

The last Golbat fighting Zeus, slammed into him with a wing attack, but got unlucky with Zeus's ability Static kicking in, causing it to become paralyzed. Zeus was quick to take advantage of its slower speed by using quick attack and thrashing into it with a thunder punch. He was quick to follow up with an ice punch, knocking it out. Afterwards, Zeus rushed towards the Muk.

Inferno not being able to land a hit on the vileplume, quickly blew smoke around him before beginning a dragon dance.

Atlas, who had already been poisoned from the Muk, was panting hard as he unleashed a water pulse towards the Muk who took the attack, which seemed to do little damage before launching another sludge bomb, which Atlas was too tired to dodge from, directly smacking into him and knocking him out.

Ash was quick to recall Atlas as he watched Zeus reach the Muk and begin fighting with it.

"Luna, help Zeus with the Muk." called out Ash to the shadows.

Catching the Muk and Rocket members by surprise, Luna jumped from the shadows and unleashed a dark pulse, hitting the Muk directly. Muk groaning from the attack, was caught off guard again by Zeus this time, who hit the Muk with a discharge. The Muk in pain, unleashed waves of sludge from every direction. They were able to hit Zeus with Luna jumping around them.

Zeus was clearly poisoned from the attack, but kept fighting as he unleashed a shock wave on the Muk, who sent a mud bomb at the same time towards him. Both attacks impacted into each other with the super effective attack causing immense pain to Zeus.

Luna sent a shadow ball towards the Muk, impacting into its toxic body. The Muk shook off the attack before sending a surprising focus blast towards Luna, who jumped up to avoid it, but was blasted by another one from the Muk.

Muk quickly turned its attention towards Zeus, as it launched another mud bomb towards the electric type, who was still getting to his legs from the previous one. It smacked into him, dropping him back to the ground and with the poison rushing through his body, kept him from getting up.

Ash quickly recalled Zeus as he watched Luna and the Muk exchange attacks with one another.

Looking over at his starter, Inferno was clearly winning once he got the boost from the dragon dance. The Vileplume had scorch marks all over its body and was trying to hit Inferno with bombs of sludge, but couldn't hit the faster fire type.

Looking closer at Inferno, he noticed that he already poisoned. Ash cursed himself at that, but smiled as Inferno unleashed a huge flamethrower towards the Vileplume, that was too tired from the previous attacks to get out the way, and was instantly engulfed in the flames. Once the fire diminished, it showed a burnt and unconscious Vileplume.

Inferno, despite being poisoned, hadn't taken much damage from the Vileplume and rushed towards the Muk to help Luna.

Looking at Sky, he was quick to worry as he saw her being bite by an ice fang from the Arbok, causing her to roar in pain. The Arbok threw her to the side, landing with a hard impact on the ground. Then, the Arbok not giving her any time, rushed towards her and wrapped her up and began to squeeze. Ash rushed to grab her Poke Ball as he heard her roar in pain, but right before he could return her, Sky lit up the dark room with a bright white light.

Ash smiled with relief at the new turn of events.

Sky's body became much larger, doubling in size from when Ash first caught her. Two small rattles formed on her huge tail, with a horn growing from the middle of her head. A yellow orb formed underneath her neck, her large pink serpent body showing off as the light became smaller.

A beautiful Dragonair, 2 feet larger than the Arbok stood there. Catching the Arbok with surprise, she quickly hit it face first with a powerful flamethrower.

The Arbok was shoved across the floor from the fire attack.

As the Arbok got up, Sky's whole body became blue with a dragon like shape covering her body, faster than anyone expected, she had rushed towards the Arbok slamming into her.

The Arbok was instantly knocked out from the powerful attack.

"Dammit, Muk kill them all quick poison everyone." called out a panicked Ariana.

Before Muk could follow the order, it was hit from by a flamethrower and dark pulse, coming from Inferno and Luna.

The Muk tried to get up and launch another attack, but was quickly hit with another flamethrower from Inferno, knocking it out.

Ariana looked like she was about to try and run, but was hit by a thunder wave from the newly evolved dragon type before she could react. Both grunts were already paralyzed as she dropped to the ground.

"Great job guys, I'm so proud of all of you." said Ash beaming with pride at his team.

Luna and Inferno were quick to rush over to Sky and admire her new form.

"You look beautiful Sky." said Ash with a smile towards his newly evolved Pokémon.

The dragon type cooed at the comment and rubbed her head against Ash's causing him to laugh.

"Inferno, your poisoned so I'm going to return you for now, okay?" said Ash towards his starter who nodded in return as he was returned in a flash of light.

Ash with Luna and Sky next to him rushed towards the man who was tied up, with duct tape on his mouth.

Luna was quick to bite off the rope, with Ash removing the tape on his mouth.

"Ah, thank you very much young man for saving me." said the older man catching his breath.

"No problem sir, are you by any chance Mr. Fuji?" asked Ash.

"Yes, I am, I had come to investigate what was going on with the ghost types and saw the Team Rocket members and before I could go and report them, they attacked me and kept me on the top floor." said Mr. Fuji with a frown.

"Everything will be fine, your granddaughter was the one who told me that you came here to check things out and hadn't come back, before I left to come, I asked her to call the police so they should be here soon." said Ash towards Mr. Fuji who smiled in return.

"I see, well I am in your debt young man, may I ask for your name?" said Mr. Fuji

"Oh, sorry for not introducing myself, my name is Ash Ketchum." replied Ash.

"Ash is it, well thank you for what you have done Ash. That red haired lady had told me that there was a powerful ghost type rumored to be living here, they were using that machine over there to try and get it to come out, but the machine harms the ghost types as well." said Mr. Fuji looking over at a strange small machine that looked like a radio.

"I don't know how it works, but I assume it released a type of noise that was believed to attract the ghost type, although from their success with the amount of ghost types that showed up the time I was here, it seemed to do the opposite effect." chuckled the older man.

"We'll let the police handle it once they get here." said Ash getting a nod from Mr. Fuji.

They waited for only a few more minutes before a few police members arrived, being led by Officer Jenny.

"Mr. Fuji, are you alright?" asked Officer Jenny.

"Yes ma'am, I am thanks to Ash here, he took down the Rockets and saved me." said Mr. Fuji with a smile making Ash rub his head in embarrassment.

Officer Jenny took a look at Ash before her eyes laid on Ariana.

"Is that an executive?" called out Jenny were eyes gleaming.

The other officers quickly turned their attention towards the red head on the ground. They were quick to rush over to her and handcuff her before taking her away with the other grunts.

"Say kid, how long have you been a trainer?" asked Jenny.

"Um, almost around 2 and a half months." replied Ash.

"What really? That was pretty stupid of you to battle an executive, let only take on Rockets with only that much experience." said Jenny with a shake of the head.

"I don't know if it was luck or not, but thanks for helping, this is the first time we were able to capture an executive. We will be able to gain valuable information from her, so I'll make sure you get a good reward." said Jenny towards him.

Ash blinked at that but nodded none the less.

"Mr. Fuji, the call said you had been missing for a couple of days now so let's go get you checked out, and I bet some of your Pokémon need to be checked on to huh kid." said Jenny towards both of them.

"Excuse me ma'am, that machine over there that looks like a radio, it belonged to the Rockets, that was what they were using to try and attract the ghost types here." said Mr. Fuji.

Jenny looked towards it and signaled for one of her officers to grab it.

"Alright, let's get out of here." said Jenny

They both nodded at that and followed Officer Jenny down the tower.

Once reaching the exit of the tower, Ash felt something watching him and looked up to the top of tower's windows, but saw nothing. He put it in the back of his head and continued walking towards the Pokémon Center.

Unknown to him, a large red eye was watching him as he walked further away from the tower before it vanished back into the shadows.

Eating in the cafeteria after handing his team to Nurse Joy, Ash was pondering the event's that just happened.

Jenny had told him that they were going to close down the tower for a little while to let the ghost types return back to their normal state, so Ash wouldn't be able to capture one. He was a little upset about that, since it was the main reason why he had come over here, but at least he was able to help capture an important member of Team Rocket.

"Ash Ketchum report to the front, your team is ready. Ash Ketchum report to the front, your team is ready." called out Nurse Joy's voice on the speaker.

Ash getting up and cleaning his table, headed towards the front where Nurse Joy handed him his 5 Poke Balls, in which he offered her his thanks with Joy giving a smile back.

Walking out of the Pokémon Center, he heard a voice from behind catching his attention.

"Hey kid, wait up for a second." called out Officer Jenny from behind him.

Ash turned around and looked at her.

"So, I was preparing a reward for you, but Mr. Fuji offered to give you one instead, to be honest, the thing he's giving you is, well I don't know if you should even have something like that on you right now, especially given how inexperience you are, honestly, I don't even know how he got his hands on one of them, I thought that only the Elite Four and Champions of each region had them, but it's his to give so with that being said, I'm pretty sure that there isn't anything worth more than that which I can give you. Head over to his house whenever your free, alright?" said Officer Jenny towards him.

"Um, okay, what is it?" asked Ash.

Jenny grinned back at him.

"You'll have to wait and see, but I don't think you'll be disappointed at all." she replied back.

Ash nodded at that.

"Well kid, I've got to get going, but on behalf of the League, thank you for helping us out here." said Officer Jenny as she tipped her hat towards him.

"Yea, no problem." said Ash with a smile.

Watching Officer Jenny walk away, Ash began to make his way towards Mr. Fuji's house.

Reaching the same small path, Ash walked up towards the door before knocking on it.

Reina opened the door and smiled at Ash.

"Oh, Ash hello." she said.

"Hey Reina, is your grandfather here?" he asked.

"Yea, he is come on in." she said opening the door for him.

Walking into house he felt a grab on his shirt and looked at Reina.

"Um, I wanted to say thank you for saving grandpa." she said as she lowered her head towards Ash.

"Yea, of course it was no problem." said Ash with a smile.

She smiled at that before Mr. Fuji walked through a door.

"Oh, hello Ash, how are you doing?" he asked with a smile.

"I'm doing good sir, how are you?" asked Ash back.

"Good as well, I just need to rest and eat." he said while waving his hand.

"Now, I believe Officer Jenny told you that I would be giving you a reward, correct?" he said.

"Yea, she told me once I got out of the Pokémon Center." said Ash with a nod.

"Okay, well follow me to my office." said the older man as he walked away.

Ash followed behind him stopping as Mr. Fuji reached a closed door and opened it. Going to the desk in the middle of the room, Mr. Fuji picked up a small box that was on the center of the desk, he handed it to Ash.

Ash grabbed the box and looked at Mr. Fuji who gestured for him to open it.

Ash opened the metal box and his looked confused at the two items in there, before realizing what they were.

"Mr. Fuji, I can't accept these." said Ash with his eyes widened.

"It'll be okay Ash, it's not like I have any use for them anyways." said Mr. Fuji with a chuckle.

"Am I even allowed to have these?" asked Ash.

"Well technically yes, there isn't any law saying that only Elite Four and Champions can use these. Although it's just extremely rare for these to be found, so that's why you never really see any trainer except for the Elite Four and Champions of the regions using them. I found these years ago, and they've only been gathering dust." said Mr. Fuji with a smile.

Ash nodded as he looked back at the two items inside the box.

Two stones.

One was a small, marble-like stone with a stylized, double Helix design within it that was colored like a rainbow.

The other was a larger stone that held a similar helix design, although it was colored differently taking only two shades compared to the smaller rainbow colored one.

A key stone and mega stone.

"That mega stone is for a Charizard. Like I said it'll be more use to you than me, seeing as you have a Charmeleon right now." said Mr. Fuji.

"Yea, he was my starter." replied Ash with his eyes glued on the stones.

Mega Evolution was a phenomenon more rare than shiny Pokémon. Ash had only ever seen it once on television, and it was during a battle between Elite Four Drake, at the time Champion Drake, of the Hoenn Region versus the current Champion Steven Stone.

Ash remembered it like it was yesterday. Both Drake and Steven were down to their last Pokémon, Drake's Salamence, and Steve's Metagross, the two pseudo legendaries of the Hoenn region. In the battle between the two beasts, Steven grabbed a stickpin from his suit and pressed the object on top of it and both he and his Metagross began to glow with his Metagross mega evolving. The match was quickly ended there as the mega evolved Metagross showed to be too powerful for the Salamence to keep up with.

"Well Ash, that is my reward and thanks for you helping me out, although I do advise trying to keep these items quiet or away from others eyes until your Charmeleon has evolved and can use its power. Many people will try and come for you if they here that you are in possession of these stones. Not to be rude, but you are the weakest trainer in the region, maybe the world who has a key stone and mega stone now. I don't know of anyone else other than the Elite Four and Champion who have a mega evolution in Kanto as of right now." said Mr. Fuji

Ash nodded at that. He knew how rare mega evolution was, there had only been 4 reported use of the phenomenon and they had all been done by Elite Four or Champion level trainers.

"I understand, thank you very much Mr. Fuji." said Ash with a smile.

"Of course, it's the least I can do. I do wish you luck on the rest of your journey Ash, I'll be sure to watch out for you during the Indigo Conference." said Mr. Fuji with a smile as he offered his hand towards Ash.

Ash smiled back and grabbed his hand before shaking hands.

Walking out of Mr. Fuji's house. He looked at the small box in his hands. He smiled at the thought of watching Inferno mega evolve. He had never seen a Charizard mega evolve, although he knew they could. He would be excited to see what Inferno would look like.

With his reward being put in his bag, he walked towards the Poke Mart in Lavender Town to grab supplies for his trip to Celadon. He would have between 3-4 weeks to prepare for his next gym.

With those thoughts in mind, Ash looked at the Pokémon Town once more and thought of what Pokémon Team Rocket were after. Reaching the Poke Mart, Ash walked inside grabbing everything he would need before purchasing them.

With everything he would need stored away, he walked out of the Poke Mart and began to walk towards the exit of Lavender town.

Celadon was next.

Well, there's the events in Lavender Town. As for giving Ash his key and mega stone, just know he won't be using it for a long time, I don't even know if I'll let him use it during the Indigo Conference, I'll probably put a vote if he should be able to use it or not once we reached that point in the story.

I'll also set up another vote to decide which form Inferno should have, I was originally going to have the stone be colored blue, meaning it was the X one, but I don't really have a preference between the two Mega Charizard's now anymore, so I'll let you guys decide that in the future and come back and edit this chapter after.

Also, Mega Evolution will be very rare in this au. If Ash does use it in the Indigo Conference, he will defiantly be the only person using it.
