AN: Disclai—ah, forget it. This is a fanfiction site, no one owns shit.

I'm going to take a small break from this to work on some of my other stories (Desolation and Insomniac). After I post a chapter or two of those, I shall return to this.

Outta This World: The Call Beyond Edition

Arc One: To Be A Titan

Chapter Five: Reunion

Entry #3.

It's been about three days since we've moved into our new home, which we've dubbed Titans Tower, or the T-Tower. Thus far, living in the Tower has been very different than living in the hotel. For one, we each have our own individual rooms. My room doesn't have anything outside of the bare necessities and an empty bookshelf, but that will hopefully change soon. Two, we have to regularly make the food ourselves. This became a problem once Beast Boy made his vegan diet quite clear, and Starfire revealed her knowledge of Earth's culinary arts—or rather, lack thereof. Third, Robin has now scheduled regular mandatory training sessions.

Thanks to these sessions, I've been able to pick up a few tricks involving my abilities. My meditation sessions with Raven have also been going well, and I've been testing my resistance to possession via letting the Emotion Clones attempt to possess me.

All in all, this is probably the happiest I've been since meeting Eric, Jacob, and Ash-

Eric and Jacob.

Anyway, I should probably go now. Robin's been dead set on taking us to the carnival that is happening today, and I promised that I'd come along.

I just hope that nothing too chaotic happens while we're there.

At the present moment, Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy and I were walking along Jump's boardwalk, which is where the carnival was taking place. There were rides, games, and all sorts of activities and unhealthy foods to be had, as with most events. Somewhere down the line, Raven was dragged off by Beast Boy and Cyborg, who went to try their hands at a few carnival games, while I went on a sort of quest to get prizes as thanks for taking me in.

Luckily for us, we didn't attract too much attention, even if we were in uniform, which made accessing the games and rides a bit easier. Such was the energy of the carnival I suppose.

"Excuse me sir. How much money for the game?" I asked a man behind a dart game stand. The man smiled the smile of a greasy conman who just spotted a new victim.

"One dollar for three darts, young cosplayer!" The man shouted, his voice loud and energetic. Then, he pointed at a cart filled with stuffed animals, plushies, and other such objects. "If you manage to pop a balloon, you will win a prize!"

I scanned the cart for a gift that would be perfect for Raven, since she was the one I had yet to win a prize for. My eyes landed on a Jack Skellington and a Sally plushie.

"Perfect. Will probably be better than whatever Beast Boy will get her."

"Three darts please." I requested, handing the salesman a dollar, who in turn handed over three red darts.

I took a moment to examine the darts. Aside from the nearly unnoticeably dulled tips, the darts were in perfect condition. The man really knew how to rig a game. Luckily, I had a vast databank that contained the knowledge that was needed to beat him at his own game.

"A parabolic arc would be advised." Logic stated. "The decent will give the darts enough force to pop the balloons."

I silently thanked Logic and threw the darts in the recommended arc. Two of them popped, but the third fell to the ground.

I frowned. "Damn. Need to master that."

"Oh well. Nobody's perfect." Light said.

The salesman smirked. "Impressive throw, young man! You get two prizes."

I took the two plushies, and then went to find my friends.

"I would rather be with Blitzkrieg than with either of these two right now." Raven thought, a small scowl on her face as Cyborg and Beast Boy tried their hands at a ring tossing game. "At least he understands that these types of games aren't quite my thing…probably."

She heard the sound of Beast Boy and Cyborg making an exaggerated high-five behind her before the changeling grabbed a rather cumbersome looking stuffed chicken and passed it to her. "Told ya we'd win a prize."

This action would have been charming…had it not been that the prize was a literal stuffed chicken. "I must be the luckiest girl in the world." Raven spoke, voice oozing with sarcastic energy.

"Yes, you are." A voice spoke.

The three Titans turned to find Blitzkrieg walking towards them, a small tub of prizes under his left arm and two plushies in his right hand. "Because not only do you get a rather fabulous chicken, but you also get a Sally plushie."

Raven's eyes widened as she took the plushie. "You…got this for me?" She asked the black clad teen

"Consider it as a thank you…for helping me." He replied, giving the tub to the other two Titans.

Raven examined the plushie, a small smile on her face as Robin ran towards the group.

"Titans!" Said team leader shouted. "We've got trouble!"

Cyborg turned towards the Boy Wonder.

"That's the trouble."

"No more chasing now please!" Starfire cried as she fled her cybernetic squid-like pursuer. As she flew past the docks, Blitzkrieg gave Raven his plushie.

"Hold this please."

Said teen then pulled out his quarterstaff, extending half of it. As Starfire and her pursuer passed the team of superheroes yet again, he swung at it in an attempt to slow it down. Then, he grabbed hold of one of its tendrils, channeling what he estimated to be at least a thousand volts into the squid's body. It had no effect, and he felt the tendril wrap around his arm and begin to pull him.

At this moment, Blitz was reminded of an old saying.

If you're gonna grab a bull by the horns…

"OH SHIIIIII—!"

Then get ready for a ride.

The thing chased Starfire for a while before shaking off the unwanted passenger, who would have landed on a hotdog stand had Raven not used her powers to catch him. The electro-kinetic smiled as he saw that Raven had kept the plushies.

Said Empath turned towards the owner of the stand and said a quick apology before throwing the stand at the squid with use of her powers. The squid plowed through it, but this gave Cyborg and Beast Boy—who had turned into a gorilla—the chance to grab onto the tendrils.

"Star!" The cybernetic teen yelled, straining against the still moving robot. "I don't know what this thing's deal is, but it can't hurt to apologize!"

"I am…sorry?" Starfire asked more than said, still trying to wrap her head around this odd occurrence. This effort proved futile, as her pursuer broke free of Cyborg's and Beast Boy's grip. Both Robin and Blitz leapt at the drone, staffs extended. Blitz's staff glanced off of the thing's armor, while the squid hit Robin and began to drag him towards the sea.

After spending a few moments looking for an off switch, the Boy Wonder decided to make one, removing a high-tech laser cutter from his utility belt. A few moments later, Robin leapt onto the edge of the pier as the drone began to convulse. A few moments after that, the Titans caught up and there was one more explosion to join the fireworks.

"Whatever that thing was, it can't hurt you anymore." Robin said, trying to reassure the redheaded alien teen.

"But friend Robin…why did it want to hurt me at all?" She asked, her tone fraught with worry.

Jacob walked slowly through the foliage of the Forbidden Wood, passing under a stone archway that surely marked the entrance of his destination. His clothes and skin—whatever little bit was exposed—was entirely covered in a fine layer of dried blood, his pistol was empty, and his arms were sore from constant use of the axe. And yet he still felt the sensation of victory flowing through him.

He was close now. So close to solving the great mystery that was the city of Yharnam. So close to discovering the secret of the Old Blood.

So close…to finding The One Truth.

The Titans had returned home later that evening. Blitz had opted to remain behind in order to ensure that they had no breaches that the security systems that the Justice League had created hadn't detected anything unusual. The other Titans were faced with a different problem…

"Come my friends! I shall thank you for my rescue by reciting the poem of gratitude. All six thousand verses!"

The Titans wilted at the words 'six thousand'.

"I see you haven't changed a bit, sister!" A new voice announced. Leaning against the couch was a carbon copy of Starfire—save for the hair and the eyes, which were black and purple respectively. She turned towards the other Titans and spoke. "When we were little, I was the one who was always rescuing her."

"EEE! SISTER!" Starfire cried as she charged the black-haired alien, wrapping her in a bear hug.

Said sister chuckled as the embrace broke, and she passed Starfire a green jewel attached to a necklace.

"A Centauri Moon Diamond!" Starfire gasped. "Where did you get—!"

"The Centauri Moons of course." The sister replied, slipping the necklace around Starfire's neck. "I initially got it for myself, but it looks better on you."

"Oh, you must meet my new friends!" Starfire exclaimed, yanking the girl off of her feet. "I wish to introduce my big sister—!"

"Blackfire." The girl spoke, having regained her footing. "Star already told me about the Titans in her transmissions, so let me guess…" She pointed at the tallest Titan in the room. "Cyborg."

"Pleased to meet you little lady." He said, giving her a firm handshake. He found her grip crushing. "Alright then! little lady, big grip!" He said with a grin.

"Raven." Blackfire said, stepping towards the mage. "Nice gemstone on the Anja Chakra." The teen complimented.

"You…know about chakras?" Raven asked.

"Got way into meditation during a trip on Altara Prime." Blackfire answered, turning to the greenest Titan. "Beast Boy, wassup!"

"Nothing but the ceiling baby." Beast Boy replied.

Blackfire laughed. "Good one!"

Said green teen turned towards the resident goth. "See! She thinks I'm funny!"

Raven smirked. "Statistically, someone has to."

Blackfire then turned her attention to Robin. "And you must be Robin. Loving the cape by the way." She said, beginning to examine it.

"Thanks." Robin said. "It's made of high-density polymerized titanium. Ten times stronger than steel."

"Does that make it bullet-proof?" Blackfire asked.

"Not all bullets, but it can stop the lower caliber ones." He answered.

"Fascinating." Blackfire commented. "And that mask makes you look very mysterious." Blackfire began to lean in towards the Boy Wonder, causing the other Titans to gape.

Before anything else could happen, the door opened, and the last member stepped in. "Did I miss anything?" Blitzkrieg asked.

Blackfire turned away from Robin and focused in on Blitzkrieg. "And you must be Blitz. The one who's been teaching her about Earth's customs?" She asked, leaning towards him.

"That would be correct." Blitz said, feeling sweat build on his brow as the girl leaned in closer.

"Interesting…"

Starfire cleared her throat. "So, sister, what brings you here?"

Blackfire turned towards her and smiled. "I was in the quadrant. Wanted to see if Earthlings liked to party…"

Rom was dead.

There was no other way to describe the feeling of killing a god, even if it was a feeble minded one at that.

Jacob smirked. He now knew is true purpose. The destiny that he had been born for.

One god he had slain. Now he would slay the other three. Then, he would strike down The Employer, as did the Old Man before him.

He did not care if he would live out the remainder of his days marked as Cain was. He had seen his own future in the pale lake that he and The Vacuous One had done battle in. His last hunt awaited him in the waking world. The hunt that would decide the fate of many other lives and worlds.

A Hunter must hunt.

"Sean, you thieving little shit." Jacob snarled. "I am coming for you."

It was the next day. Starfire had come to Blitz's room, asking if he would spend time with her and teach her how to draw. It didn't take long for Blitzkrieg's sibling senses to detect that there was indeed something wrong with his teammate—and the person that he viewed as a sister.

"You know, you are allowed to talk to me if there's something going on, right?" He said at last.

Starfire's bright demeanor dimmed as her shoulders sagged. "I feel as if my sister is…monopolizing the other's time. Trying to replace me. She even gets along with the others better than I do." She told him.

Blitzkrieg sighed. "Yeah. I think I understand."

Star looked at him with concern. "Were you…replaced once?"

Blitzkrieg closed his eyes and no longer wore the same 'mask' that he wore around the Titans. "No." He said, his voice cracking a little. His mind flashed back to when his first group of friends was still whole.

Eric, Jacob, and...

"…But I know someone who was."

"Why else would it seem like Jacob hated me?"

Later during the day, the Titans convened to decide what movie they would watch for the night. Many options were suggested, but none matched the interests of the other Titans. Then, Blackfire had stormed in and declared that she was going to a party taking place in a run-down warehouse, and that the others were free to join her.

The other Titans—save for Starfire and Blitzkrieg—came to a unanimous agreement almost immediately…

"I don't like her." Light snarled. "She reminds me too much of—!"

"I noticed." I interrupted, not entirely ready to discuss her again. We were sitting on top of the roof, observing the party through the skylight. Beast Boy and Cyborg were dancing in the middle of the crowd, while Robin was being dragged off somewhere by the subject of our conversation. Raven herself had been dragged aside by a white-haired young man in a red trench coat and seemed to be in a rather riveting discussion about philosophy with him. Sitting at the table with them was a fifteen-year-old boy in a green hoodie.

Starfire on the other hand, I hadn't seen since we had arrived here. Then, I actually bothered to look around on the roof, and found her sitting on the edge. I made my way to her, and then something slammed into me.

"So you think a society made up entirely of people with superpowers is possible?" Raven asked the white-haired man, who had introduced himself as Shiga Raki

"Indeed." He said, steepling his fingers. "More and more people are being born with powers, Ms. Raven. It is only a matter of time until the 'few' with powers outnumber the 'many' without." A small smirk twitched into existence upon his face. "Therefore, it is prudent that we begin the regulation of such individuals." He raised a finger, cutting Raven off before she could speak a word. "But not to the extent that we become tyrants, Ms. Raven. What I am proposing is that we create laws that will allow the individual to do whatever they wish with their powers…within reason of course."

Their conversation was cut off by the voice of Shiga's younger brother—a green-haired teen named Mikumo. "This debate is great and all…" Said teen began. "But can we get some actual food? I'm starving!"

Shiga nodded. "Of course. I'll foot the bill."

"There's no need." Raven interjected. "I can pay—!"

"Nonsense!" Shiga Raki interrupted. "I dragged you over here so that I could rant philosophy and politics at you. Allow me to make up for it—!"

Their exchange was interrupted by the sound of shattering glass and the sound of something hitting the floor. Blitzkrieg stood up from where he fell and yelled something that Raven couldn't quite make out over the sound of music playing from multiple speakers. She did however, see multiple creatures that resembled the ones who tried to take Starfire enter the warehouse through the now shattered window.

"Excuse me Mr. Raki. I have business to attend to."

"Go right ahead Ms. Raven." The young man said with a smile, red eyes glowing vibrantly even in the dark. "I'm not leaving Jump any time soon."

It didn't take long for the fight to leave the warehouse. After that, Blackfire destroyed most of the drones with well-placed shots. We returned to the tower afterwards, where another attack was attempted. During the attack, we discovered that Starfire's pursuers were actually the police force of the Centauri Empire, and that Blackfire was their true target.

Starfire fought her sister in an epic air battle, which she won. The Centauri police apprehended Blackfire, who swore her revenge against the one who I had come to see as a second sister. I know that the other Titans would be celebrating this victory, but…I had dislocated my shoulder during the encounter. I wasn't strong enough to save Starfire. If I couldn't defeat a few space crabs…

I needed to train more.

I let out a roar as I plunged my fist through the simulated enemy that I was fighting in the T-Tower's danger room. I had been running this simulation for the last two hours, partially because I needed to get better…and because I was angry.

In my own eyes, I had nearly failed to save Starfire. If I couldn't stop a few space crabs, how could I possibly hope to beat Trigon?"

I heard the door whir open behind me, and Cyborg stepped into the room. "You know, if you keep training like that, you're just gonna wreck yourself." He said, pointing at my now burning hands.

I grimaced. "Shit. Need to find a way to reduce the head."

"…I know."

Jacob scowled. There were many things that he tolerated over the years. The jeers of some of the jocks. The stares that people gave him. The fact that Sean was bullied—though he secretly delighted in that part.

There was however, one thing that aggravated him beyond belief. One thing that caused him to feel a fury that was beyond anything that he had felt before. His wrath—as of the present—was not something that exploded, like most people's.

No. Right now, he was as cold as a blizzard.

The Healing Church had experimented on children. Their 'Holy Choir' had done the unthinkable and sunk even lower than they already had. He entered the room designated as 'orphanage' and looked out over the mass of blue figures that populated the rectangular room that he now occupied.

Jacob spoke. "Can you understand me? Give me a sign!"

Please.

The beings that were once human children grew closer, one of them taking his hand. For a moment, there might have been hope. Then the grip became bone crushing. Jacob kicked the being off of him and flash-stepped back towards the entrance.

He analyzed the horde charging towards him and selected a different weapon from his arsenal. The blades of his mentor. The Blades of Mercy.

He hadn't used these blades, as they required a different mindset to use. A mindset focused entirely on the kill, instead of one solely focused on bloodshed, which Jacob had used until now.

Now…there was no more time for games.

One blade. Each hand.

Jacob swung.

I'm sorry.
