Chapter 5: The Endgame

The first bomb hit the building with great force, and everyone was blasted away. the huge spaceship continued to fire more, and the building collapsed. They were separated.

Sylvia's surroundings were dark, and she held up a handful of fire while searching for her wand with her other hand. She couldn't recognise where she was.

"Anyone here?" Looking around, she saw Hawkeye holding up his hand that had a torch attached to his suit. A figure was on top of a pile of rocks. Clint walked towards it and picked it up. It was the glove, with all the stones on it.

"Damn." Sylvia heard him mutter. She looked up to see him firing a light arrow to the passageway in front of them. There weren't only rocks.

"We have to get out, fast." She hissed.

"I know that, Black." He hissed back and turned to run with her. The creatures advanced on them and exploded from the tunnel.

Sylvia lashed out her wand and shot a non-verbal Duro to have a wall of stones blocking the creatures' way, "What the hell are those things?"

"Mad alien dogs." Hawkeye panted as they reached the end of the passageway and looked up to see a way upwards. Sylvia made the wind pull them up as the "mad alien dogs" broke through the wall and climbed up with them. She put one down with a Stunner while Hawkeye killed one with an arrow.

"The glove's a huge target here." Sylvia threw a fire ball at them, but more were coming and were coming fast.

"I don't know if you've been in a fight before but there usually isn't too much talk." Clint shot another arrow and brought down two.

"I've been in duels before and we usually have to shout out the spells because non-verbal ones are sixth-year stuff, while spitting insults at each other." She retorted and aimed a large rock at the "mad alien dogs" beside them, knocking most of them down.

"Well, we're not fighting with magic here." He grasped grip on the ladder and pulled himself to the surface.

"Actually, I believe there are magical people out there, and you don't have to have a wand to perform them." Sylvia panted, "Where are we?"

"Not underground anymore, but we still have to get through that." Hawkeye motioned to the field of the remaining of the building from where he was laying on the floor, panting, "Oh hey, I know you." Nebula came over to them and Hawkeye passed the glove to her.

"No, wait!" Sylvia yelled at the same time Nebula pressed on her earpiece and said, "Father, I've got the stones."

"What?" He gasped and tried to take the glove back, but Nebula had a gun on him.

"Stop." A green lady pointed her gun at the past Nebula, and the present Nebula followed.

"Okay, so aliens have weird skin colours, got that." Sylvia muttered as her hands glowed dangerously red, ready to create fire.

"You're betraying us?" The past Nebula asked quietly at her sister and changed her aim to the present Nebula, giving Hawkeye the chance to get up.

"You're not like this." The green lady told the past Nebula.

"I am this." The past Nebula sneered.

The green one said quietly, "Nebula, listen to her."

"You can change." The present Nebula said.

The past Nebula shook her head, "He won't let me." And she pressed down on the gun, but the present Nebula was faster and before they knew, the past Nebula had a burning hole at her chest and fell down, dead.

"Can she be fixed or is her heart still non-robot?" Sylvia stared at the corpse as Hawkeye picked up the glove and they all got out.

"No. It's only an eye, an arm, and half o the head." The green lady said.

"We're there." She stopped and panted as they arrived at the battlefield. They could see Thanos, Mr Stark, Cap, and Thor. Thanos was giving a speech about how he was going to balance the universe, how it was nothing personal, how the Avengers screwed his plan because they remember too much, and he was now going to destroy Earth. Looked like the four already had a fight, for Cap's shield was broken with about only a half left.

Thanos' army came from the spaceship. Thousands of aliens formed a large army, with huge alien whale-like things flying slowly to them, and things Sylvia didn't know what they were exactly, but obviously weapons. Cap stood up from where he was beaten and walked a few steps towards the coming army.

One man, against thousands.

Suddenly orange sparks formed large portals leading to everywhere. People either walked or flew out of them. An army of people was vaguely seen in the largest portal, with a man in black suit that glowed dark purple in the lead. A man with some winged device flew out of the first portal, while a tree-teen, a woman with tentacles, a man with daggers, a bloke with high-tech weapons, a man with a red cap, and a teen in metal suit of Mr Stark's making came from a portal that seemed to be leading to another planet. She saw, with astonishment, a red figure that turned out to be a lady with some kind of magic flew out and landed with a slight blast of red, and a woman riding a winged-horse flew from another. A dozen of people with magical shields were standing in place, and a group of green aliens stood not much further away. Scott was in his suit as he exploded from the rocks with his body enlarging into a giant. The rest of the team climbed out of the remains and joined them. Sylvia was relieved to see Matilda unhurt.

"AVENGERS!" Cap addressed the army and summoned Mjolnir, "Assemble." He said more quietly. The Avengers' side ran towards where Thanos was.

Thanos pointed his big sword towards their direction and his army charged.

"We got chased by some alien dogs and the Nebula from the past is dead. How was your journey?" Sylvia muttered to Matilda.

"The racoon was nearly crashed by a rock and we were nearly drowned, other than that we were fine. Scott can really small." She replied.

"See you later." Sylvia smirked and flew away and landed beside the man with the red cape, "Hi."

"You new?" He used magic to crash a few aliens.

"You're Dr Strange." She clarified and used water to pour on a few aliens before cooling the air around it down to freeze the water, "I'm Sylvia Black." She saw at the corner of her eyes that Scott was making his way through the aliens, crashing them with his gigantic feet.

"Asgardian?" Dr Strange shielded them from a bomb with a magic shield.

"I'm not too sure." Sylvia made an air force to sweep the aliens charging at them away, "If I'm Asgardian then I was adopted three times without knowing who I really am."

"Cap, what do you want me to do with this damn thing?" Hawkeye's voice came from the earpiece.

"Get those stones as far away as possible!" Cap shouted though the device.

"No, we still need to put 'em back where they came from!" Came Dr Banner's voice.

"No way to get 'em back, Thanos destroyed the quantum tunnel." Mr Stark said.

"Hold on! That wasn't our only time machine." Scott muttered and pressed something while in his normal-sized form. An audible tune rang across the battlefield.

"Has anyone seen an ugly brown van out there?" Cap yelled.

"Yes!" The woman riding the winged horse called, "But you're not going to like where it's parked!"

"Scott, how long you need to get that thing working?" Mr Stark asked.

"Maybe ten minutes." Scot answered.

"Get it started. We'll get the stones to you." Cap said.

"We're on it, Cap." A female voice came.

"We have to stop Thanos from getting that thing!" Matilda shouted.

"I'm on it." Sylvia muttered as she pressed on the earpiece, "I've gotta find that mad Titan. It's nice to meet you, Dr Strange," She flew at a neck breaking speed to Thanos, when Wanda landed in front of him to stop him from reaching the Black Panther, who had got the glove from Hawkeye.

"You took everything from me." The witch told Thanos.

"You took a lot of things. Not from me, but from the whole universe." She muttered and landed with a blast of fire, beside the red witch.

"I don't even know who you are." The Titan muttered.

"You will." The witch – Wanda Maximoff or known as Scarlet Witch – used her magic to lift two huge rocks and rose into the air, before throwing both of the rocks at Thanos. Sylvia took the strategy and fired a rock on fire at him.

The rocks all broke at Thanos' sword, and Wanda started throwing energy balls from her hands. Sylvia tried to use air to drag him back as he walked towards the witch, but her was too strong. She froze with horror as Thanos pushed his sword downwards to Wanda, but the witch didn't look shaken. Her eyes glowed red like her magic, and the sword was suddenly blasted away, broken. It landed on a pile of junk, red still glowing from the cut.

Then, Thanos was lifted from the ground by Wanda and his armour broke in the air. He looked in extreme pain.

"Rain fire!" The Titan ordered through gritted teeth.

"But sire, our troops!" An ugly alien – one of Thanos' "children" shouted.

"Just do it!" Thanos' armour continued to break apart when the spaceship began to fire. Sylvia barely had time to put an air forcefield around her when a bomb landed right beside them, throwing Wanda off balance and losing control of Thanos.

"I guess I'm fighting you now." She muttered and threw a blast of fire at Thanos as he landed, before using ice to create a huge sword in her hand and aimed for his neck. "I'm really not used to this." The sword broke into pieces at Thanos' sword as he used the unbroken end of it.

"They're so low on people that they're sending kids into war?" Thanos sneered and blocked a fireball easily.

Sylvia rose into the air, "I'm not exactly a kid." A large rock that was stuck together magically was flung to Thanos, "Nothing gives you the right to wipe half of the universe into dust." The second rock flew to his face, "So, stop your non-sense of universal balance," The third rock hit him on the head, "And sod off." The earth hit him from the underneath and threw him into the air.

"You could have done well in our ranks." Thanos panted slightly as he got up quickly.

"I've heard that too many times, and none had worked yet." Sylvia landed in front of him, her eyes blazed and send a burst of white flames at the Titan, "I don't fight for the light, nor the dark. I fight for the benefit of the world, and you're the biggest threat at the moment." She drew out her wand and prepared to send the worst curse ever, when a bomb landed on the ground between them and Thanos wasn't in sight when the smoke faded. "Coward." She pocketed the wand and braced herself for another enemy.

"You magic is unique." A high, cold voice behind her murmured. One of Thanos' "children" – she couldn't recognise who, but this one was thin, tall, pale, bald, and had no nose.

"And you're missing a nose. Who're you? Voldemort's son? His father? Definitely a relation, because I can't find anyone else looking so much like him, not even his daughter. You sound like him too." Sylvia joked.

"I do not know of a Voldemort." The alien murmured and waved his hand. The rocks beside them moved to form a weapon.

"Another magician? First Master of Mythic Arts, now this?" She made the rocks burst into dust and fired at the alien, while he made them stop in their tracks.

"Is anyone seeing this?" Someone called from the device. The lake water was rising because of the bombs and was forming a large wave towards them. Dr Strange used magic to stop the water from washing everyone away.

Sylvia sent a force of wind at the alien and he pulled a rock to block it. He pulled a few metal sticks and made them zoom towards her, which she used great energy to force them stop in their tracks with wind.

"You're powerful." She muttered as the metal sticks moved slowly towards her side. Then, suddenly, they dropped to the ground as a man with two daggers – not the one from the portal – wearing green, black and gold jumped on the alien and kicked him away.

"Thanks." Sylvia was out of breath from the energy burst, "Who are – Loki? You faked your death for what, the third time?"

"You're welcome. And you are?" The God of Mischief looked around.

"I'm Sylvia Black for Midgard, but I'm not too sure for who the hell sent me down to this place and got my mother killed."

"You're Asgardian?" Loki frowned.

"Yep. That's where my powers came from." Sylvia sighed, "Does Thor know you're alive?"

"Not yet." He replied.

"What on Earth is happening?" The firing from the spaceship had stopped and aimed for the sky instead. A bolt of light came to sight and it sent straight for the spaceship, ripping a whole through it that exploded. At first, she thought it was something, but it turned out to be someone. The figure turned and tore another hole through the ship. It fell down into the water.

"Matilda, can you hear me? Where are you?" She pressed on her earpiece, fearing for the worst.

"I was fixing Cap's shield and am heading for the thing." Came Matilda's voice.

"See you later, then, God of Mischief. I love pranks, by the way." Sylvia smirked and flew to the direction where the glowing person had landed.

All the female Avengers were coming as Captain Marvel took over the glove from Spider-Man, Peter Parker.

"Don't worry." Wanda said.

"She's got help." A lady from the Black Panther's army finished.

"Whoa, you're actually planning to blast your way through all that?" Matilda stared in astonishment.

"Looks like it." Sylvia breathed.

The ladies charged. The Iron Woman – Mr Stark's wife – shot lasers at the alien army in front of them, and Shuri, the princess of a country named Wakanda which Sylvia had never heard of before, fired energy bombs from some high-tech weapon in her hands. Gamora and Nebula fought their ways through the aliens fiercely, while a woman with similar abilities as Scott – the Wasp – took on a few not too far away. The Wakandian female soldier fought alongside Mantis – the one with tentacles – and Matilda. Wanda flew into the air with Valkyrie – the one with the winged-horse – and Sylvia. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel was blasting her way through the alien army and towards the "ugly brown van".

Sylvia, Wanda, and Valkyrie took on a whale-like monster each. Wanda used her magic to force one out of the way, while Val used her sword to destroy another down the spine. Sylvia caused explosions here and there with air force mixed with fire. She saw, with a Seeker's sight, that Captain Marvel was close to the time-machine, but just as she reached it, Thanos threw his sword and the whole area exploded. The glove was flung out of Captain Marvel's hand and Thanos had it after he shoved Mr Stark, Thor, Cap, and Captain Marvel away.

To her instinct, she flew to where they were and lashed out her wand, "EXPELLIARMUS!" She couldn't focus properly so she had to use a verbal spell. Surprisingly, and unlike to most of the important things in the Wizarding World, it worked. The glove was flung out of the Titan's hand.

"ACCIO!" Matilda arrived a second later and the glove flew to her hands. The Potter girl looked surprised of herself for a mere second and Sylvia could have sworn she heard her mutter, "Oh, crap."

Thanos reacted quicker and ran to where the witch was. Matilda froze before snapping back to present and produced a metal shield in the Titan's way. Thanos continued his way around it and grabbed his sword, which Matilda reduced into pieced a moment later.

"That's exactly why magic and technology doesn't mix." Sylvia muttered and Matilda used a few metal pieces from the remains to hit the Titan in turns.

"Why didn't she come out earlier?" Black Panther asked as he finished off a giant alien.

"Ask Cap about it." Sylvia replied and motioned to Cap's shield that looked as good as new, with not a scratch on it.

In the next few rounds, Matilda broke Thanos' armour and used metal swords to attack him. But Thanos wasn't that easily defeated. He pushed the swords away like they were made of rubber and moved closer to Matilda.

"Oh no." Sylvia murmured as Thanos punched Matilda to the ground hard, for Hogwarts doesn't teach combat and witched weren't really good at it – in other words, horrible – and grabbed the glove. Before anyone could reach him, he put it on.

Captain Marvel suddenly flew to Thanos just as he was about to do the snap, which would wipe all of them away, and forced his fingers apart. Her whole body was glowing with energy and Thanos didn't look like he stood a chance. Captain Marvel had the advantage and was suddenly on top of the Titan, pushing him down. But Thanos had the stones. He took out the purple one – the Power Stone – with his free hand and punched her with the stone in his hand, which formed a huge blast of purple glow. Captain Marvel was flung away by the powerful punch.

Sylvia quickly flew over to her adoptive sister and leaned down, "Matilda, talk to me. Say something, please."

"Err... something?" Matilda said weakly, "He's got the stones."

"Yeah, we know that." Sylvia sighed and looked over to where Thanos put the Power Stone back to the glove and attempted to snap again. she saw Dr Strange at the shore, motioning "one" with his free hand. Sylvia swallowed. This was the one win in fourteen million possibilities.

Mr Stark got the message and took on Thanos, pulling at the glove-hand. He was flung away after a few moments, and the Titan held up his right hand.

"I am inevitable." He said and put his fingers together.

Thanos snapped.

But nothing happened.

He looked very shocked and confused and turned his hand to see the back of the glove. No stones were there. Thanos looked over to Mr Stark, who got on his knees and had the stones on his right hand.

"And I... am... Iron Man." Mr Stark looked shaken from the radiation, but he managed to snap with great difficulty.

Many things happened at once. Rocket was firing at a whale-like thing coming down towards him, but it disappeared into dust just at the moment it should have ate the racoon, while the others fell to the ground from before collapsing. The alien army was fading away quickly, the ones the Avengers were fighting had fell and the dust were swept apart. The spaceships faded too. Thanos' children were making their way towards their leader, but all fell before they got close, including the Voldemort-like one. Then, the Titan sat down, looking like he had to accept his defeat. Thanos was the last to fade away. there were only people on the Avengers' side left on the battlefield. The Titan slowly turned into dust.

Mr Stark staggered to sit down, and the Avengers slowly gathered around the hero. He seemed to be dying.

"Mr Stark?" Spider-Man was the first to talk, "Mr Stark? Can you hear me?" His voice cracked with grief, "It's Peter... we won, Mr Stark. We won. Mr Stark. We did it, sir. You did it. You did it, Mr Stark." He was close to crying, "I'm sorry, Tony." It was the first time Parker had called Mr Stark Tony. Sylvia could tell.

"Hey." Pepper gently pulled the teen away and said softly to her husband.

"Hey, Pep." Mr Stark was barely heard.

"Friday." Pepper called the AI.

"Life functions critical." The voice responded.

"We should do something." Matilda murmured.

"Magic had interfered quite enough on this." Sylvia sighed, "Let it be that way, it's for the best. We can't reverse fate."

"You just need two seconds." She objected.

"I don't think it'll work. The damage was from the Infinity Stones." Sylvia said softly.

"Tony?" Pepper told him, "Look at me. We're gonna be okay. You can rest now."

The blue light on Mr Stark's chest flashed for several times and faded forever.
