The Earth Hero: The Blind Bandit ATLAxMHA FF
Chapter 4: Boring Classes
It was the second day and Toph was extremely bored.
Before she arrived at school, she had trained with Ren and he pushed her really hard that morning. It was to the point where she felt sore in most of her muscles; however, that was the most exciting thing she had done so far.
When Toph's school day had started she learned something about UA that she was not aware of before that day. There were normal classes like Math, Literature, Art, and English. It was really a boring affair because she was ahead in most of the subjects, besides Art, for obvious reasons. It was slightly interesting that their teachers were all superheroes themselves, but it didn't mean much to her.
Fortunately, most of the teachers had adapted to help her with studies. Both Cementoss and Ectoplasm had given Toph books and worksheets that had Braille on them. Midnight, who had the toughest task with Art, was well prepared as she had given Toph a book that had symbols on them and a spherical item with little indents on them. The woman gave Toph separate worksheets to recognize the different symbols with her hands and to describe the details of a 3-D item, which would be different every week.
Only Present Mic was not entirely prepared for Toph. Sure, he had worksheets and an English book in Braille for her, but his teaching still required visual cues. Which led to an awkward moment in class.
Present Mic drew something up on the chalkboard for a few minutes before turning around.
"Okay class," Yamada said, "Which of these four sentences is incorrect?"
After a few seconds with nobody responding, Toph raised her hand and said, "It's sentence three."
Yamada excitedly yelled, "Correct!"
"Now, can you tell me, what is wrong about this sentence?" Yamada asked with a big grin.
Toph chuckled and said, "Really?! I got it correct? I was just guessing."
Yamada said, "Every good hero needs to be a little lucky. But now that you put yourself out there, you've got to figure out what is wrong."
Toph confidently said, "Well, I would but I can't read what you wrote, and that's a tiny problem."
The blind girl waved her hand in front of her face.
"Oh, right." Yamada said a little sheepishly.
"Maybe if you read the sentence, I could answer what is incorrect." Toph suggested.
Yamada smiled and yelled, "Alright!"
It was probably the only interesting part of her school day so far.
As they were waiting for their next class, Toph let out a groan and planted her face down on her own desk.
"Could this day get any more boring?" She asked with annoyance.
"Well, UA is a school. What did you think you were expecting?" Izuku asked as he turned around to face Toph.
"I don't know, I thought we would be learning how to fight and do other cool stuff. I didn't think there were boring things like Math in this school." Toph said while keeping her face on her desk.
Momo said, "Well, I learned that it is a part of the UA's charter that…"
As Momo gave an explanation, Toph kept her face on the desk and mumbled, "I wasn't talking to you, princess."
"What did you say?" Momo asked, who did not hear what the blind girl said.
Toph ignored her and asked, "What's our next class, mumble breath? Science? History?"
"Nope. Our next class is Foundational Hero." Izuku said with excitement.
Toph picked her head up and said, "Finally! Something that will be focused on hero work! I wonder who the teacher will be?"
It was then that Toph sensed a large figure quickly moving to their classroom.
He slammed the door open and yelled, "I am here!"
Toph smiled, because she knew the voice by heart, and she knew that this class was definitely going to be awesome.
"Coming through the door like a hero!" All Might said enthusiastically.
It would have shocked Toph if someone did not know All Might, since he is the world's greatest hero. She was not a fangirl, but she enjoyed hearing about his deeds since she was a toddler. Honestly, the coolest thing about the Greatest Hero to her was the fact that nobody really knew his identity, it added a layer of wrestling-like drama to him.
"I can't believe it's really All Might." A voice said. Based on where it came from, Toph believed it was Kaminari.
Kirishima said, "So he is a teacher! This year is going to be totally awesome!"
All Might began slowly and dramatically marching to the front of the classroom.
"Hey, look. Isn't he wearing his Silver Age costume?" A female voice, that Toph identified as Tsuyu.
Toph grinned and leaned up to Izuku.
"I thought that was his Golden Age Costume?" Toph asked with faux confusion.
"What!?" Izuku said, confused, "His Golden Age Costume is totally different in the design scheme and the threads that were being used…"
He stopped when he looked at her and saw that she had a great big grin on her face.
"Oh…" Izuku said, remembering the most important detail about her.
Toph chuckled and said, "Oh, not only are you gullible, but you're a big All Might fanboy! This is too perfect!"
Before Izuku could respond, All Might began speaking in his loud and dramatic tone.
"... Think of it as Heroing 101! Here you will learn the basics of being a pro! And what it means to fight in the name of good!" All Might said excitedly.
It was totally different to listen to All Might speak in person than on TV. Just hearing the Pro-Hero speak was absolutely getting Toph pumped.
He turned around and said, "Let's get into it!"
All Might turned back around and held something up.
"Today's lesson… Will pull no punches!" All Might said.
Toph gathered from her fellow classmates' reactions that they will be battling in some way, which she was excited to do.
Out of the wall twenty boxes appeared with clothing and gear inside each. Toph figured these were their Hero outfits, which All Might confirmed.
Every student grabbed a box and Toph walked up and grabbed a box that had a stone in it. When she filled out her form for her outfit, she asked that her box would have a rock inside of it for her to tell the difference.
With her outfit box in hand, she was excited to try on her Hero Outfit for the first time.
AN: Sorry for the long time between updates. Life can get busy.
I had time recently to finish this chapter and I am happy to say that I'll keep rolling out updates for the next couple of weeks.
I'd love to hear any feedback that you have on my story thus far.
