(Note that I forgot to add upstairs and downstairs in the last 2 chapters) She then noticed his feverish forehead, and he was shaking. "Jack, can you hear me?" she said, rubbing his sternum. She then walked into the bathroom and grabbed the thermometer. She then ran it over his forehead. "Damn, 103." she whispered. She then listened to his breath sounds, it was ragged. She was still getting no response out of him. They were close to 19, and she knew the others were already there before her. She grabbed her phone from the kitchen and texted Maya, "Who's on Aid Car today?" the text said. "Warren and Montgomery, why? You and Gibson are late." Maya texted. "That's the thing, it's Jack. He's not responding to me and he's got a fever of 103 and his breathing is ragged." Andy said.

"Ok, I'm sending them your way, I'll give you the day off." Maya said. "Thank you." Andy said. Maya put her phone away and walked towards the fire trucks. "Warren, Montgomery, come here." she said. They both then looked at each other and walked to Bishop. "What?" Warren asked. "I need you two to go to Andy and Jack's place. Andy just texted me saying that Jack's not responding to her and he has a fever of 103 and his breathing is ragged." Maya said. "Ok, I think we both know where they live." Montgomery said. Montgomery and Warren then got in the Aid Car and drove off.

Meanwhile, Andy was trying to keep Greyson happy and check on Jack at the same time. She then eventually saw the Aid Car pulling up, so she then opened the door for them. Montgomery and Warren then were walking up with the equipment. "I didn't move him, because I didn't know what to do." Andy said. She still had Greyson in her hands, but at her waist. Warren and Montgomery then walked into the bedroom, they noticed that Gibson was pale. "Andy, what'd you say his last temperature was?" Montgomery asked. "103, why?" she questioned. "There's a good chance it went up to 105, Warren hand me the thermometer." he said. He was then handed the thermometer.

He then ran the thermometer over Gibson's head. Once it beeped, he picked it up. "My assumption was right. His temperature rose to 105. Grey Sloan will possibly have to cool him down if it gets above 110." Montgomery said. "He's probably got hyperpyrexia. He's unconscious. Breathing is irregular. We have to see if his heart rate is increased or irregular." Warren said. "Well, if he does. He's pretty damn close to 106." Montgomery said. "Let's hook up the IV and start the monitor." Montgomery said. Warren then hooked the monitor up. "Damn, his temperature is rising fast. It's at 106 already, his Sats are in the 70's." Warren said. He then started the high flow oxygen.

"We need to go, now." Montgomery said. Warren wheeled the stretcher into the room. Andy still was holding Greyson, switching places in her arms here and there. Once Gibson was on the stretcher, Warren and Montgomery wheeled out of the bedroom. Once they were outside, Andy stood there in the walkway. "Hey Montgomery, are you two going back to 19 after the hospital or are you staying there for awhile?" Andy asked. "I think we're staying there until we get an update on him, aren't you coming?" Montgomery said. "I will, once I call Greyson's babysitter." she said. "Ok, we'll be waiting." he said. He then hopped in the back and Warren got in the front.

She then walked back inside and grabbed her phone and then placed her finger on the babysitter's number. Once the babysitter arrived at the house 30 minutes later, Andy then left for Grey Sloan. When she arrived, she noticed Montgomery and Warren in the waiting room. "Did you ever get an update?" she asked. "No, Hunt's thinking he's got severe pneumonia, but they mentioned running more tests to see if it's not something else. And he does have hyperpyrexia. His temperature rose to 115, they're cooling him down now." Warren said. "He was perfectly fine yesterday, said he had a headache but he took pain medicine to help that and then went to bed." she said. "He wasn't' shaking in the night at all?" Montgomery asked. "No, he kept shedding the blankets off of him." she said. "I'm surprised he never woke you up at all." Warren said. "No, like he's said before and I've said, he's stubborn." she said.

"I think we all know that." Montgomery said. 3 hours passed, Hunt had finally walked towards Andy, Warren, and Montgomery. "How is he?" Andy asked. "Well, my assumption was right for severe pneumonia. Along with the flu." Hunt said. "I don't get it, he was fine yesterday except for he had a headache but he took pain medicine for that." Andy said. "Sometimes it's like that. People are fine one day, sick the next." Montgomery said. "Anyways, his pneumonia was severe enough which caused him to be placed on the vent. I've also started him on an antibiotic that will be strong enough to weaken the pneumonia." Hunt said.

"Can we see him?" Andy asked. "Sure, follow me Herrera." Hunt said. "Actually, I'm Herrera-Gibson now." She said. "Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding." He said. "No, it's alright." She said. He then led her, Warren and Montgomery Jack's room. When they reached Gibson's room, Hunt pulled open the clear sliding door and then walked in, Andy, Warren, Montgomery behind him. Hunt then pressed buttons on the monitor and then walked out of the room. Warren was doing something on his phone, but Andy didn't know what he was doing. Gibson was pale, very white. His hair was flat; monitors beeping, Andy knew the monitor would keep her company for who knows how long. She then heard the sliding door open, she was sitting in a chair; brushing Jack's hand. She then felt someone put arms around her. She then moved her hand and noticed Miranda was standing behind her.

Andy then stood up and then gave her a hug. "Ben told me what happened, how is he?" she asked. Warren and Montgomery's radios went off and then left. Andy then sighed and said, "Honestly, Hunt said that his pneumonia was severe and he also had the flu. He's got him on an antibiotic that is supposedly strong enough to weaken the pneumonia. But, I'm hanging in there." "You'll get through it; trust me, you have a whole firefighter family at 19 standing with you, through it all; you even have a little boy at home, you have a family." she said. Bailey's pager then went off, so then she left the room; the only one who was left in the room was Andy.

She then took her same chair she was in and started to brush Jack's hand again. All sorts of machines surrounding him, all that she was familiar with. Hours and hours went by, no change. She then heard the sliding door open again and then Miller and Montgomery then walked in. Miller then walked over and placed a gentle hand on Andy's shoulder. "He'll be okay Andy; Jack's strong." he said. "I know it is, but at the same time, I don't know; Hunt said his pneumonia was severe." she said.

"Andy, that's what medicine is for. Medicine helps fight the infection or whatever off." Montgomery said. "I know that; but I'm scared. I don't know what to do." she said. "The thing you can do is go to Greyson at home; whenever visiting hours are up, and then snuggle him. Greyson is your support system right now, along with your whole family at 19." Miller said. "Thanks, hell; I've been all over the place since this morning and now it's night." she said. "Hey, Andy it's no problem." Montgomery said. They then sat around until visiting hours were up; Andy wanted to stay the night, but she had a son at home waiting for her. She then pulled out of the parking lot and then drove towards home; which was only like a 30 minute drive.

Once she pulled into the driveway, she got out of the car and then walked in the house to relieve the babysitter they had. Greyson was thankfully asleep when she walked in, but she had wanted to make something for her to eat for dinner because she hadn't eaten anything since breakfast this morning. She had put Bishop in charge since she was the battalion chief. Once she finished eating, she then took a shower and then went to bed. Greyson then woke her up that next morning. The babysitter knew what Andy was going through; juggling everything.

The babysitter then let Andy get ready while she fed Greyson. Andy then got ready and then ate breakfast herself. Once she finished she then put her shoes on and walked out the door. But she didn't want to go to the hospital yet, she still needed to clear her mind. She decided to stop at the station and do some paperwork; in a quiet area where no one would find her, hopefully. She then parked in the station parking lot and then got out and walked inside. Everyone was all on a call so she got peace and quiet until they came back that is.

She then walked into her office and noticed some paperwork that Maya had sat off to the side because she wasn't authorized to do it. So then she got to work. She needed the quiet, badly. The stack that she had to do wasn't that big. She had an 8 month old at home, who was going through his teething phase. She didn't get much sleep that night because he had woken up at 11 pm, and she had only been asleep for an hour; and she got home at 9:30. She woke up tired and she knows if Jack was not in the hospital right now, he would help her.

She was wanting to bring Greyson with her to Grey Sloan, but she didn't want to risk him getting whatever Jack had. But she would take him whenever Jack woke up, whenever that is. She then heard the garage doors close and that's when she knew they were all back. She had finished the last paper just in time. By now it had been 12:00 and she had been there since 10:00. She usually spent 2 hours on paperwork, every time. She didn't know what to do after that, either go to Grey Sloan or stay here. She knew she had to get to Grey Sloan at some time, she also knew that Miranda would also go in and check on Jack when she had the chance to. She had people there at Grey Sloan that she could trust. But she went anyway, she wanted to; and it was her choice.

So then she waited until everyone was in the beanery getting lunch because she knew that they always ate lunch at this time. She walked out the front door and then got in her car and drove to Grey Sloan. Once she got in the parking lot, she parked and then decided to get coffee because she never got her cup this morning because she was all over. Once she paid for her coffee, she then walked through the doors and then found her way to the ICU, and found Jack's room. He was still on the vent, hell he still would be because this was only day 2. Andy wanted Jack back to normal, she had hated seeing him on the vent; even if she's been through this before. She then heard her phone buzz, she then pulled it out and saw a message from Bishop. "How is Jack doing?" The message read. She then typed a fast message saying, "No Change."

She then put her phone away and then went back to drinking her coffee. She then heard the sliding door open and saw Miranda walk in. "I checked on him when I could last night; I understand why you had to go home. There was no change in the night. His sats have improved, but not to Hunt's liking. His sats are still ranging between 85-87, Hunt's wanting them in the upper 90's before we can take Jack off the vent." She said. "I understand, he's stubborn; but he'll get there, eventually." Andy said. "Andy, you always know you can talk to me if you need to." She said. "I know, but Greyson's been teething and he was up almost all night; and I only got a few hours of sleep last night." Andy said.

"I went through the same thing with Tuck, trust me it's hard but I got through it with his dad. Ben's only his biological dad but Tuck still calls him dad, even if he doesn't know who his real dad is." She said. "When my dad died, I didn't know what to do; I would hide out in my apartment and not go to work sometimes. But the one person who got me out was Jack, when we were friends that is. Now, we're married and a family of 3, I can't imagine life without him. He's the one that keeps me sane." Andy said. "That's what true love is for, you both are dedicated to one another and your job." she said. "I know, we both pretty much had the same lifestyle; Jack was adopted, and I had no mom when I was growing up." Andy said. "Warren never mentioned that Gibson was adopted." she said. "Yeah, he doesn't know who his real mom is, but it's not all about the blood; it's about the love." Andy said. Miranda's pager then went off.

"Well, another day; another trauma." she said. She then left the room and Andy then looked at Jack in the face. "Babe, you know you have to come back to us. You know I can't do anything without you." she whispered, while holding his hand. She had decided to stay there, the whole night. Day 2 was a whirlwind. Now she was on Day 4. She had decided to go to work, and get her mind off of things. She wanted to stay focused. Jack had finally been off the vent because she had got a message from Miranda saying that he was off the vent. When she got that message, she was working on paperwork; and everyone else was in the beanery, probably telling gossip to one another. She was debating to tell them, but at the same time she didn't want to interrupt them.

Jack was slowly getting back to normal, his pneumonia wasn't almost cleared, but it was getting there. His flu had been fully cleared, but the antibiotic that Jack was still on was fighting off the pneumonia still. His stats had finally risen to 94-95, which is what Hunt was aiming for. They now have moved him to the non rebreather mask. They were now on day 7, the pneumonia had finally cleared up; Andy had now felt safe to bring Greyson in with her, but she had to put him in his car seat because she wouldn't have anywhere else to put him. She then walked in, and sat Greyson down near the cabinet; he had fallen asleep in the car and she didn't want to wake him.

She then looked out the window, at all the people walking back and forth; the monitor beeping in the distance behind her. She then stepped over to Jack's bed, she then took the chair near Greyson, so she could get him out when he woke up. She then heard the sliding door open; she then looked up and saw Miller walk in. "Figured you were here." he said. "Yeah, decided to come with Greyson since I finally now feel comfortable with him being here because I didn't want him to get sick." she said. He then took the chair on the opposite side of the bed and then sat down. "Damn, Jack wants to be stubborn." he said. "Yeah, he is; don't know what I would do without him though." she said.

"Hell, he keeps you sane; hell he basically keeps us all sane." he said. "When I married him a year ago, I knew it was right. I knew he was my person; now we're a family of three." she said. "Andy, we all knew you two were made for each from when you first started dating." he said. She then looked to the side of her and noticed that Greyson was starting to wake up. "Well, it looks like someone is awake." she said, while unbuckling him. She then lifted him onto her lap. He then babbled a little and fussed and then was a happy camper. "Has he said his first word yet?" Miller asked. "No; but he's getting close to saying dada, but he is being stubborn." she said. "Well, he's wanting to wait for the perfect time." he said. "Want to hold him?" she asked.

"Sure." he said, standing up. He then walked over towards Andy and then she handed him Greyson. He then sat down in the chair and started to bounce Greyson on his lap. Andy then looked over and saw Greyson smiling. "Well, someone's a happy boy." she said. "He sure is getting mobile." he said. "Yeah, he's already crawling and rolling over." she said. She then heard movement coming from Jack. She then saw him slowly opening his eyes. "Andy?" he said, while pulling the mask down. "Shh, Jack I'm right here. Get some sleep." she whispered. He then closed his eyes and then Andy pulled the mask back up. Miller now had been there for an hour. He then heard his phone buzz, and then he looked at it and saw 5 alarm fire. "Great, we all had the day off for once now we have to go to a fire." he said. He then stood up and then handed Greyson back to Andy. "See you later Andy." he said. "See ya Miller." she said. He then pulled open the sliding door and then closed it again and now it was just Andy and Greyson.
