A/N: Finally, another chapter is released! and it's the one where Maya shows up! Also, it's part one of the Maya arc.
In the classroom, Tomo, Yomi, Ayumu, and Chiyo were in an important discussion.
"So girls," Tomo started, "Now that we got the team and the coaches, we need a mascot, uniform designs, and a team name!"
"But, we have no clue of what could be our mascot," Yomi added.
"Why not make it a sea slug?" Ayumu added, which weirded the three girls out.
"Ewwww, Ayumu, that's gross!" Tomo said, "Let's just talk about the uniform designs! We need something feminine, but sporty at the same time!"
"Perhaps I have a suggestion!"
The girls turned their heads around to see that Mr. Kimura's behind them! The creepy teacher then shows the girls a crud drawing of Tomo in a skimpy flapper dress.
"The charm point of the uniform is the form-fitting-" Kimura explained before Yomi kicks his drawing.
While Kimura tries to catch his "masterpiece", he drops a black and white picture of a woman with long wavy hair, and Tomo caught it.
"Whoa, a picture of a lady!" the wildcat said, "I wonder who it is?"
"Mai waifu," Kimura answered, which horrified the girls.
"Wait, she's your wife?!" Tomo shouted, "But… how?!"
"Oh, and I also have a daughter as well," Kimura said, but the girls already left the classroom.
"Jesus Christ!" Tomo said, "Does Kimura's wife have any good tastes in men?!"
"Like Ah said yesterday," Ayumu added, "We should take Mr. Kimura to jail!"
"Which reminds me," Yomi said, "Where's Sakaki and Kagura?"
"Oh, Sakaki-san and Kagura-san are already walking back home," Chiyo answered, " And we should do the same."
In the streets, Sakaki and Kagura are walking when the tall girl noticed the grey cat on the wall. Sakaki inches near the cat, but Kagura then scares it away.
"HA!" The tomboy shouted, "I felt better after that!"
"Why…" Sakaki said back, "I was about to pet it. Before it bites me again."
"Seriously Sakaki, why do cats bite you? Is it because you're hands smell like fish?"
"Kagura, my hands don't smell like fish."
"Whatever, at least you got me to save you from any cat that tries to harm you!"
"Speaking about cats, yesterday I saw a brown cat entering the kitchen of my house and stole a link of sausages from the refrigerator."
"Brown cat… that reminds me of a legend back when I was living in Okinawa!"
"What legend?"
"Southwest of Okinawa, there's Iriomote Island, an island where nobody can tame its wilderness. And even if you manage to settle on the island, you have to deal with the beast that lives in the jungle. It has a feline-like appearance, brown fur, and glowing eyes. The locals either called this beast "yamapikarya" or "meepisukarya" due to those glowing eyes."
"So, why doesn't the rest of the world knows about it?"
"Nobody has ever taken a photo of the beast before, not to mention that the beast is really hard to find."
"Maybe one day we'll find it, Kagura. Maybe one day."
That night, outside of the Takinos' restaurant, the brown cat was looking for a hole in the wall, which it found easily. It then squeezed into the hole and it was finally in the kitchen. It then looked at the turkey on the table, a delectable meal for a cat his size.
Upstairs, Tomo heard some noises in her sleep and woke up. She then noticed that the sounds are coming from downstairs, and decides to go check on the kitchen. When she went to the kitchen, Tomo was horrified by the sight. Her black Akita Inu, Kuro, was barking at the cat who was eating the turkey. The cat has a brown coat with spots, rounded ears, a wide tail, short legs, and a tiger-like countenance.
"DAD!" Tomo shouted, "THERE'S A CAT EATING THE TURKEY!"
Kuro kept on barking at the cat, who didn't flee from the larger beast. Instead, the cat jumped at Kuro and scratched her face.
"Kuro! Are you okay?!" Tomo said to her dog before she eyes on the cat, "Well kitty cat, time to skedaddle!"
Tomo then grabbed a broom and started to whack the cat. However, the cat was able to dodge the whacks with ease. And then, she grabbed the cat.
"Ah, whatcha going to do?" Tomo said to the cat, "You're going to scratch me?!"
The cat then wiggled out of Tomo's grasp and scratched her hand before exiting through the hole it entered through. Tomo then fell to the ground and started to cry as blood started to bleed from her hand.
"...And that's how my night went!" Tomo finished her story she was telling to Yomi, Ayumu, and Chiyo on a weekend morning, "Dad later came down and bandaged up my hand, though Kuro now has to stay outside of the kitchen due to fiasco last night!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry for that, Tomo-san," Chiyo said to the wildcat, "Well, maybe a walk with Mr. Tadakichi will make you feel better."
But as the four girls exit, they noticed that the white borzoi is gone.
"Mr. Tadakichi!" Chiyo shouted, "Where did you go?!"
In the streets, Mr. Tadakchi was sniffing on the ground, trying to find something.
"Something's smell veirrrd arrround herrre," Mr. Tadakchi noted, "I must check it out!"
The dog then kept on following the scent until he spotted the cat who was stealing food from the humans.
"You!" Tadakichi barked at the kitten, "You'rrre kat who is kausing trrrouble arrround zese parrrts of neighborrrhood!"
"Mama?" the kitten meowed, "Is that you?"
"Niet niet niet, I'm not yourrr mother," Mr. Tadakichi said back, "I'm Mr. Tadakichi, and what's yourrr name?"
"I don't have a name, mister. All I know was one day, I was in the jungle, and the next day, I was in a boat."
"So, you'rrre stovavay?"
"Yes, mister."
"Vell, I've never seen kat who rrran avay frrrom me. You must be special little kat!"
"Me? But, I'm not special."
"Little kitty, you'rrre verrry special crrreaturrre, and maybe you vill find owner who vill love you as mush as master of me."
"An owner? Will they be as loving as my momma?"
"Of kourrrse zey vill! Zough I have to varrrn you about grrrey kat who lives in zese strrreets."
"Grey cat?
"Da. You see, neighborrrhood my family and I live in used to have big kat as boss of lokal kat kolony, but his family moved avay frrrom neighborrrhood. And now I fearrr zat grrrey kat vill take kontrrrol of kat kolony to hurrrt people, especially tall girrrl vith long hairrr."
"Well, I'm not afraid of that cat! I took down a dog and human last night with one swipe of my paw!"
"Dog and human... must be one of Chiyo's frrriends you scrrrathed." Mr. Tadakichi then twitched his ears, "Oh, looks like misterrress Chiyo is kalling forrr me. I better go, but don't enkounter grrrey kat."
And with that, Mr. Tadakichi ran to Chiyo, and the little kitten started to eat his food.
The next day, the nine girls were walking down the streets, as they were done with practice.
"Yomi! You should have seen me catch that ball!" Tomo boasted.
"Yeah right," Yomi snarked, "More like the ball landed on your face."
"YOMI, WHY DID YOU-"
"Look y'all!" Ayumu pointed out, "A kitty cat!"
The girls then saw more and more cats surrounding them. Sakaki blushed, thinking that it was her lucky day. But then, the cats started to hiss at them.
"Sakaki!" Kagura shouted, "What's going on?!"
Sakaki then saw the grey cat, "No," she said, "It can't be."
"What can't be, Sakaki-san?!" Kaorin asked.
"Kamineko, he's the cat who constantly bites me in the morning. And I didn't know that he has friends with him."
The Kamineko and the other cats then launched themselves at the girls, until the brown cat shows up.
"HOLY CRAP!" Kagura shouted, "IT'S THE YAMAPIKARYA!"
The brown cat then looked at the other cats and growled at them. The other cats shiver before they flee, and the Kamineko did the same. Sakaki then kneeled at the cat and placed her hand on it. And surprisingly, it didn't bite her.
"Wow, Sakaki!" Kagura said, "You can pet the yamamaya with ease! You should pick him up and hug him!"
Sakaki then picked up the yamapikarya and cradled him in her arms.
"Yomi, did you see that cat?!" Tomo said, "It's the same one from last!"
"You're right, Tomo," Yomi said back, "It is the same one that you told me about."
"Sakaki, you must be lucky to hold a yamamaya!" Kagura said, and the yamamaya meowed at her.
"Kagura," Sakaki said, "Say yamamaya again"
"Why Sakaki? It's not he like the sound of-oh…"
"And that what I'll name you after, Maya."
"Sakaki-san," Chiyo said, "Let go to my house so we can discuss what should we do with this cat."
And with that, the girls and the little cat went to the Mihamovsky mansion.
So next chapter, the girls will discuss what to do with Maya, so expect some cuteness!
So, read and review!
