(A/N: Okay, here it is! This is the final chapter, which also tells about Mario and Peach's coronation! I'm going to start it right now!)

When Mario and Peach returned from Isle Delfino, they had a lot to do. While Mario unpacked all his clothes into the closet and dresser, Peach was informed that she needed a new dress made for her to wear at the coronation, and other special occasions in the future, so her dress-makers needed to take her measurements. As for a crown, it had already been decided that she was going to be given her mother's old crown.

"Well, I think I'm already good to go." Mario said when Peach told him what she had been up to that day.

"Mario, you know as well as I do that they're not going to let you wear your normal outfit on our coronation day. They'll want to make you a special outfit to wear." Peach told him.

"That's not what I meant. I'm saying that they won't need to do that because I already have an outfit that will work." Mario said.

"You do? Let me see it." Peach said.

"Okie-dokie." Mario replied, going to the closet and looking for the outfit he was referring to. He pulled out the King's Outfit he found when he was at Rabbit Ridge, dealing with the Broodals.

"What do you think, Peach?" Mario asked.

"Oh my gosh! Mario, that outfit looks amazing! Now all you need is a crown to go with it..." Peach said.

"You mean a crown like this?" Mario asked, putting the outfit back and producing the King's Crown from a shelf in the closet.

"Wow! Mario, you really are all set!" Peach giggled.

"Yep." said Mario, putting the crown back and closing the closet door.

"So let's study up on what we'll need to know as rulers." Peach said.

"I already know one thing we'll have to do." Mario said.

"What?" Peach asked.

"Well, the people are going to expect us to have... children. You know, heirs to the throne." Mario said.

"I think we should... wait... on that." Peach replied. Although Peach loved the thought of having children with Mario, the thought of having kids in general made her very nervous.

"I can handle that. We don't have to have kids right away. We can have them whenever you're ready." Mario said.

"Thank you for being so understanding." Peach said, slipping her arms around Mario in a loving hug.

"You're my wife. I want you to be happy." Mario said, hugging her back.

"Mario, you're always so good to me. What did I ever do to deserve you?" Peach asked.

"Sometimes, I ask myself the same thing about you." Mario replied.

They spent their free time studying up on what they needed to know about ruling a kingdom, but that wasn't easy for Mario. But he was a quick learner when Peach and Toadsworth taught him royal etiquette. He paid close attention because he loved Peach and wanted her to be proud of him. And she was.

"Can I really do all of the stuff a king has to do?" Mario asked one night as Peach quizzed him on what a king needed to do.

"You've saved me and the Mushroom Kingdom countless times. I'd say you've more than proven that you'll be a good king." Peach assured him.

"Thanks, Peach. I feel a lot better now." Mario replied.

"That's what wives are for, Mario." Peach said, giving him a kiss, which he was only too happy to return.

Before Mario and Peach knew it, the 3 months were over, and the day of their coronation finally arrived.

"Mario, time to wake up. Come on, get up." Mario heard one morning, and he could feel Peach gently shaking him awake.

Mario opened his eyes and looked out the window. Or, at least, he tried to look out the window. It was very dark and he couldn't see a thing, not even the window. Apparently, it was very early in the morning. Or was it the middle of the night? He didn't really know.

"What time is it, Peach?" Mario asked.

"It's 5:00 a.m." Peach answered.

"What?! It's too early! I don't get up this early!" Mario exclaimed, putting his pillow over his head and trying to go back to sleep.

"Sorry, Mario, but if we want to be ready by 10:00, then we have to get up now, even if you don't like getting up this early." Peach said, turning on a lamp and pulling the covers off of Mario.

"What's going on at 10:00?" Mario asked, removing the pillow from his head so he could grab the covers and pull them back over himself.

"Don't you remember what today is?" Peach reminded him.

Mario thought for a moment before remembering exactly what day it was.

"That's right! It's our coronation day!" Mario said, feeling more awake now.

"Exactly. How about we get in the shower?" Peach asked.

The next thing Peach knew, Mario was out of bed and in the bathroom, turning on the lights and running the shower.

"Let's-a go!" Mario said to Peach as he started stripping off and getting into the shower.

"That's one way to get him out of bed..." Peach smiled as she walked into the bathroom to join her husband.

After their shower, they made their way downstairs for breakfast, and Peach asked Mario if there was anything he would like to have.

"I don't know. I've got 'em again..." Mario said.

"Got what again?" Peach asked.

"Oh, that's right. You weren't there." Mario said to himself. Then he said to Peach, "On the morning of our wedding, I had a tummy full of butterflies as big as Bowser, and it ruined my appetite. All I had for breakfast that morning was a cereal bar and a glass of milk."

"You're going to need more than just that on a day like today." Peach said.

"I'm well aware of that." Mario answered.

"So what would you like to eat?" Peach asked.

"Surprise me!" Mario said.

"Can do!" Peach replied with a laugh.

She fixed waffles for breakfast, and sure enough, Mario was very surprised.

"You were right. You said you could surprise me, and you did." Mario said.

"Don't I always?" Peach asked.

"Oh yeah." said Mario.

After eating, they went to go get dressed and ready for the day while several Toads did the dishes.

"How do I look?" Mario asked Peach once he was all dressed in his King's Outfit. He wasn't wearing the crown, however.

"You look wonderful, Mario. But where's your crown?" Peach asked.

"When Toadsworth suggested I get an outfit and crown made, I showed him the ensemble, and he asked for the crown. I gave it to him to hold onto until he puts it on my head today." Mario said.

"I should've known. He's been hanging on to my mother's crown, waiting for the day I get to wear it, which is today." Peach said, disappearing behind her dressing screen.

"I'm kind of surprised you still use that screen." Mario said.

"Mario, I've been using this screen for years, so using it even though I'm married is kind of a reflex for me." Peach replied.

"Understandable." Mario said as he sat on his end of their bed, waiting for Peach to emerge from behind the screen.

A few minutes later, Peach came out from behind her dressing screen. The dress she wore was red silk, and it looked as fancy as the dresses she wore whenever she was in a "Super Smash Bros." game.

"How do I look?" Peach asked her husband.

"Like a queen. The queen of my heart!" Mario said as he got off the bed and gave Peach a big hug.

"You're so sweet to me, Mario! I love you so much!" Peach replied as she returned the hug, which soon turned into them having a make-out session.

They were so lost in love that they didn't hear Toadsworth knock, much less enter the room.

"Oh, isn't that cute?" Toadsworth thought as he watched the pair. They reminded him so much of the late King and Queen after they married. But...

"Mario, Princess, I hate to interrupt, but it's almost 10:00, and there are lots of people waiting." Toadsworth said.

"What?!" Mario asked, breaking off the kiss and looking at the clock. Sure enough, it was 9:55.

"That was fast." Peach said.

"Let's-a go!" Mario said, holding out his hand for Peach. Peach gladly took it, and they walked downstairs together. Mario still held Peach's hand as they walked outside and approached the stage that had been set up there.

As soon as their subjects saw Mario and Peach, they began to cheer as though they were seeing the football team that won the Super Bowl.

"This is it." Mario whispered to Peach.

"Are you ready?" Peach asked him.

"Ready as I'll ever be." Mario replied as he and Peach ascended the steps to the stage. Toadsworth followed them, for he would be the one announcing the coronation, and crowning the new King and Queen.

Before long, the clock struck 10, and it was time to begin.

"Okay, here goes..." said Toadsworth to himself. He pulled out a microphone, and after turning it on, he began to speak, "It has been many years since the passing of our beloved King and Queen. And after their loss, the only ruler the Mushroom Kingdom has had was their daughter, Princess Peach, the sole heir to the throne."

Everybody began cheering for Peach, who made a curtsy to the audience.

"But 3 months ago, Princess Peach finally married everyone's favorite hero, Mario!" Toadsworth continued.

Everyone began cheering for Mario.

"Take a bow." Peach whispered to Mario. So he did.

"And now that our princess has married, it's time she and her husband ascend to the throne, and rule the Mushroom Kingdom together, as our new King and Queen!" Toadsworth announced.

That made the audience cheer even more.

Toad and Toadette then came onstage, bringing forth the crowns.

"This is it." Mario and Peach thought as they caught sight of their crowns.

"It's time for the moment you've all been waiting for!" Toadsworth said as he took the crown for Mario and placed it on his head.

"I now present, His Royal Majesty, King Mario of the Mushroom Kingdom!" Toadsworth said.

Boy, did that make the audience happy! They cheered so hard, it was a wonder they didn't get dizzy or light-headed.

Mario could hardly believe that he was a king now. He discreetly pinched himself just to make sure he was awake and not dreaming.

Then Toadsworth took Peach's crown and placed it on her head.

"And may I present, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom!" Toadsworth said.

And once again, the crowd cheered like they did when Mario was crowned King. Surprisingly, none of the audience members cheered themselves sick.

When the cheering died down, Mario said, "How about we go back inside and party until it gets late?"

"How about not?!" came a familiar voice from above.

Everyone froze at the sound of that voice. That wasn't good.

Mario and Peach looked up just in time to see Bowser's Koopa Clown Car swoop down out of nowhere and have Bowser snatch them off the stage they'd been standing on!

"NOOOOOOO!" the people in the audience yelled as they realized what had happened. Bowser had shown up and was hovering over the people in his Koopa Clown Car, and their new rulers were in his grasp!

"Bowser! What do you think you're doing?! You're not supposed to be here!" Peach cried.

"Also, you look amazing! Not that it matters, since you WEREN'T INVITED!" Mario added.

(A/N: I thought it'd be interesting to have Mario use one of Bowser's different phrases when you crash his wedding against him.)

Bowser was stunned that Mario had used his own words against him, but he pretended it didn't bother him as he said, "I'm the KING of the Koopas, so I don't NEED an invitation!"

"Oh boy..." Mario and Peach facepalmed.

"You know, I can't help noticing your ensemble, Mario. You know, you look a lot like a king yourself." Bowser pointed out.

"What are you getting at, Bowser?" Mario asked, clearly peeved.

"You look like a king, but you can't be! The only way you could be a king is if Princess Peach married you. But after what you did to her, she'd NEVER do something as stupid as that!" Bowser said.

"For your information, I forgave him for what he did!" Peach said.

"But did you marry him?" Bowser asked.

"Should we tell him?" Mario asked Peach in a whisper.

"Might as well." Peach replied.

"Yes, and she asked me!" Mario said. He and Peach held up their left hands, showing Bowser their wedding rings.

"OH, THIS IS SO NOT FAIR!" Bowser roared, which scared everyone else and made them scream in terror.

"QUIET!" Bowser yelled at the audience, which shut them up really fast!

"No, you guys go right ahead and boo this guy! He's nothing but trouble!" Mario said.

Peach was trying to fight off a bad case of the giggles when everyone began booing Bowser.

"If you don't tell them to knock it off right this second, I'm going to kill you, Mario!" Bowser said as he picked up Mario and held him high above the ground.

Everyone heard that, and they shut up, not wanting to lose their King so soon.

Mario looked down, seeing how very far away the ground was. He'd survived falls from incredible heights before, but...

Everyone was afraid that Bowser would drop Mario, so they stood where Mario would fall, ready to catch their king if that was the case. But Bowser anticipated this, 'cause he breathed fire at the area where the people were, and they all screamed as they got out of the way, not wanting to get burned.

"If you kill Mario, then you have sentenced me to death, because I can't live without him!" Peach said.

Mario hoped that Peach's words would change Bowser's mind about killing him. He'd never go as far as to do something that would kill Peach... would he?

"Oh, don't worry, Princess Peach. I won't kill him..." Bowser started.

"That's Queen Peach to you!" Peach retorted.

"Whatever! Look, I won't kill Mario..." Bowser began.

"Good." Peach said.

"If..." Bowser added.

"If what?" Peach asked, knowing she was going to hate the answer.

"If you agree to divorce Mario and marry me. Then I'll let him live." Bowser said.

"WHAT?!" Peach screamed.

"NO!" Mario shouted.

"I can't do that! That would kill him, and me!" Peach cried.

"So you're saying that no matter what you choose to do, Mario will die? This just gets better and better!" Bowser said.

"Peach, don't marry him!" Mario pleaded.

"I won't! I love you, Mario!" Peach said.

"I love you, too, Peach." Mario replied.

"You know, I'm surprised you still got married. For a while there, I thought marriage was the last thing on either of your minds." Bowser said.

"If you're referring to what happened on the Moon Kingdom again..." Peach started, getting mad.

"DROP IT, WHY DON'T YA?!" Mario and Peach shouted together.

"You know what? That doesn't sound like a bad idea." Bowser said, and he looked like he was about ready to drop Mario into the fire.

Mario looked nervous. He didn't have any power-ups on him at the moment, and even if he did, Bowser would probably make them wear off as soon as he activated them.

"No! Please don't kill him!" Peach begged.

"You know how to save him." Bowser reminded her.

"I'll never marry you!" Peach declared.

"Because we promised to stay together, till death do us part." Mario said.

"Till death, you say? All right, then!" Bowser said. He then threw Mario at the burning ground with force, causing him to fall faster than he would've if Bowser had just dropped him!

Mario screamed as he fell from the sky!

"MARIO!" Peach screamed, tears in her eyes.

"Hey, if marriage is 'till death do us part', then so be it!" Bowser said.

"I won't marry you, Bowser! I don't love you! I love Mario! I always have, and I always will!" Peach said.

"You'll learn to live without him!" Bowser assured her.

"No, I won't! I'd gladly sacrifice my life for him if I had to!" Peach told him.

While Bowser and Peach were bickering, they failed to notice what was going on below.

As you would guess, Luigi was at the coronation. But he brought along his Poltergust 3000, just in case any ghosts showed up. As soon as he saw Bowser breathe fire at the ground, he ran to Peach's fountain and sucked up a Water Elemental Ghost. When he saw Mario fall, he quickly put out the fire so everyone could catch Mario.

Upon seeing that the fire was out, everyone ran to catch Mario so he wouldn't die. And they did!

Mario hadn't noticed what happened, 'cause he shut his eyes tight and braced himself for the crash and burn... neither of which happened.

When Mario opened his eyes, he was more than shocked to see that he was alive.

"I didn't die? I'm still alive? How am I still alive?!" Mario asked, hardly daring to believe that he'd survived this.

"It's thanks to Luigi that you're still here!" Toad exclaimed.

"He put out the fire, so we were able to catch you in time!" Toadette added.

"He did? Where is he?" Mario asked, looking around for Luigi.

"Mario, are you okay?" Luigi asked, running up to his brother as everyone set Mario on his feet.

"My whole life flashed before my eyes! I thought I was going to die for sure!" Mario exclaimed, before giving Luigi a big hug and saying, "Thank you for helping them save me, Luigi. That's my bro."

"I couldn't let you die, Mario. You're my big bro, and you mean a lot to everyone here, especially Peach." Luigi said as he returned the hug.

"Not him." Mario said, motioning to Bowser, who was still keeping a tight grip on Peach.

"I know." Luigi replied.

"Mario! I'm so glad you're okay!" Cappy said, flying over to Mario with Tiara right behind him.

"Oh, thank goodness! Peach is going to be so happy when she sees that you're alive!" Tiara exclaimed in relief.

"She won't if Bowser finds out that I'm still here. Who knows what he'll do to me if he sees that I lived?" Mario asked.

"Actually, I have an idea!" Cappy said, and he whispered something to Mario.

"I like it! Let's-a go!" Mario said, but before he could run off and put Cappy's plan into play, Toad said, "Wait a sec!"

"Yes?" Mario asked, stopping.

"Take these, just in case." Toad said, and he slipped a few power-ups into Mario's pocket.

"Thanks." Mario said, and then he ran off.

At that moment, Bowser looked down and saw that something didn't seem right. Everyone should've been mourning Mario. Why weren't they?

"Huh? What's going on down there?" Bowser asked, confused. He was trying to find Mario, but he couldn't see him.

Peach couldn't look. Instead, she began to cry, afraid that her beloved Mario was gone from her forever.

"No... Mario..." Peach sobbed into her hands.

"Oh, don't cry, Peach. You still have me." Bowser tried to reassure Peach.

"No, I don't! You're constantly ruining my life, and now you've just ended it by killing the only man I ever loved! How can you even live with yourself?!" Peach wept.

All of a sudden, Bowser set Peach down gently.

"That's what he thinks, Peach." Bowser said in a somewhat familiar voice.

"What?" Peach asked, confused.

"He didn't win." Bowser said again, and through her tears, Peach noticed that Bowser was wearing Mario's hat, and he also had Mario's mustache. And then she saw his eyes. They were the same beautiful blue eyes Mario had. It was then Peach realized what had happened.

"Mario?" Peach asked, her sobs beginning to subside.

"It's-a me, Peach." Bowser replied in Mario's voice.

"Mario! How did you...?" Peach started.

"Luigi put out the fire so everyone could catch me." Mario explained.

"I'll reward him later on. But how did you manage to capture Bowser without him seeing you?" Peach asked.

"Once we learned that I was okay, Cappy had an idea. We quickly got behind the Koopa Clown Car before Bowser looked down to see if I was dead. While you yelled at him, I threw Cappy at Bowser, and it was a direct hit." Mario said.

"You two make a great team!" Peach praised, before asking, "Now what are we going to do with Bowser?"

"Something fun!" Mario said. He took control of the Koopa Clown Car, sending it back to Bowser's Castle. Then, still in the body of the Koopa King, he made Bowser walk to the castle dungeon, and locked himself up in one of the cells. To make matters worse for Bowser, Mario got him to swallow the key that would unlock the cell.

Then Bowser threw Cappy off of his head, and Mario appeared outside the dungeon.

(A/N: Okay, I know that Mario didn't de-capture Bowser in "Super Mario Odyssey", but this time, he did.)

"Mario! I was so scared! I thought I lost you forever!" Peach exclaimed, happy tears coursing down her cheeks as she pulled Mario into a big hug and kissed him passionately, and Mario wasted no time returning the kiss, which made Peach feel a lot better.

When the kiss ended, Mario said, "I was scared, too, Peach. I'm so glad I'm still here with you." And he returned his wife's hug.

"So, what do we do now?" Peach asked.

"We go back to the castle, and start celebrating." Mario replied.

"Sounds like fun." Peach replied.

"And I know how to get us there faster!" Mario said. He pulled out a Super Leaf and transformed into Raccoon Mario.

"But how do I-?" Peach started, but she was cut off as Mario swept her into his arms and began to fly with her back to the castle.

Peach laughed with happiness when Mario had her in his arms.

"You okay?" Mario asked.

"Of course! You're still here! And I love you so much!" Peach smiled.

"I know. I love you, too." Mario said.

"Mario, I honestly don't know what I'd ever do without a man as special as you in my life." Peach replied.

"I'll go on ahead." Cappy said, and off he flew to the castle, with Mario and Peach following him.

When the group finally returned to the castle, everyone began to cheer.

"What did you do to Bowser?" everyone asked Mario as he landed and set Peach on her feet.

"I locked him in his own dungeon and made him swallow the key. He'll be out of our hair for a good while." Mario replied.

"I hope that will learn him." Peach said.

"I don't know. He didn't learn his lesson last time." Cappy said.

"Oh well, he can't do much of anything now, so let's party!" Mario said.

Everyone agreed, and they all went into the castle to celebrate the fact that the Mushroom Kingdom had a new King and Queen, and that their King was perfectly fine.

As for Luigi's reward, not only did he receive a gold medal for saving Mario's life, Peach saw to it that he had couple of warp pipes set up outside his mansion. One would take him to the front steps of the castle, and the other would take him to the front steps of Daisy's castle in Sarasaland. Luigi was very pleased to have a quick and easy way to visit the people he loved. And Daisy, of course, thought this was awesome.

Later that night, Mario and Peach were kissing and cuddling in bed, glad to be together.

"I've been looking forward to doing this with you once I found out that you were okay." Peach said to Mario as they shared another cuddle.

"Me too." Mario said, before asking, "How did I do on my first day as a King?"

"Better than most men of royal birth. How many newly-crowned kings can say that they captured Bowser, locked him in his own dungeon, and had him swallow the key to his cell?" Peach asked.

"Not many?" Mario guessed.

"To paraphrase, you did a wonderful job!" Peach responded before giving Mario another kiss.

"Then I guess I can only do better. And I'll do it for you, my queen." Mario promised as he and Peach eventually fell asleep in each other's arms, happy that they were still together.

The End

Okay, I hope you all enjoyed this story, 'cause I put a lot of hard work into it to make it good enough to read!
