Notes: 5th installment! Finally a song from Kuraki Mai. I've been a fan of hers ever since high school (I'm working for five years now) and I am so surprised when almost all of her songs were Detective Conan OP and ED. I heard about her from a Bleach musical fanfiction and I got curious with the song so when I played it, I got hooked with her voice. I've been following her since then. So yeah, I'm a big fan of hers so I'm really happy to know she has the most songs played in Detective Conan.
Sorry, I am ranting, I know. Oh and yes, as always, pardon my grammatical and typographical mistakes.

The Fifth Aria: Time After Time ~In the City of Whirling Blossoms~
Written By: Mari Kia Aishiteru
"Ehhh~ so Hattori-kun invited you again to another trip?" her friend from Tokyo, Ran-chan, asked from her smartphone which was pinned on her shoulder and right ear as she was in the middle of choosing an outfit for the one-day trip.
"Yeah!" she chirped excitedly. "At first, I thought it has something to do with a case again, but he said it's not. He just wants to check out the place."
She heard her friend hummed in understanding. "Ne, Kazuha-chan, how many times have you been invited by Hattori-kun for these past few weeks?"
"Hmmm…" she stared at the ceiling in thought, holding a light green shirt. She was planning to pair it with her denim jumper shorts, and black boots. "I think this was the fourth time. The first three ones are with you guys."
Kazuha could imagine Ran smiling against the smartphone. "But this time, it's just you and Hattori-kun, right?"
"Hmm… you're right."
"You know Kazuha-chan, I'm feeling the love premonition right there." She said, eyes twinkling and even though Kazuha could not see it, she was sure her friend had a teasing look in her eyes.
Well, she could understand why she would think that. It was true that Heiji had been inviting her to places and then, he would say that he had something important to tell her but whenever she thought about it, it wasn't really an important thing.
And, did they really have to go somewhere just for him to tell her those things?
She sighed. There were times she wanted to agree with Ran. But, she didn't want to get her hopes up. She was happy for Ran-chan and Kudo-kun. They were finally together even though he was still somewhere chasing cases. At least, he acknowledged his feelings for his long-time childhood friend. Ran-chan was able to make him turn her way and she was so happy for her.
She wondered if her feelings will be able to reach Heiji as well.
"Kazuha-chan?" her friend's voice brought her out of her reverie.
"Sorry, Ran-chan." She placed the unchosen clothes back in her cabinet and sat on her bed. "I'm not sure about that. I don't want to get my hopes up."
At the other line, Ran sighed. She understood where Kazuha-chan was coming from. She was in the same situation not so long ago.
"Kazuha-chan, I'm sorry. Just enjoy this trip with him, okay?" she said instead and Kazuha was grateful to her. She felt a little better.
"Thank you, Ran-chan! I'll call you again soon."
"Hm, you better tell me about this trip of yours with him."
"Hai, hai, bye!"
"Take care!"
They both hung up and Kazuha stood up, donned her outfit, looked at the mirror and tied her hair in its usual style.
She stretched her arms upward right after and breathed out with a bright smile.
"Okay! Let's get ready!"
Despite the odds of this love premonition, she was excited to spend the entire day with him.
"Oh, Kudou, what's up?"
He replied from his smartphone, already dressed up in his blue blazer, green shirt, and black pants.
"I heard you're going on a trip with Kazuha-chan today." His friend said and Heiji could hear the teasing tone in his voice.
"Tsch, Kazuha already told Nee-chan?"
"Yeah, I'm right beside Ran while they were talking about it."
He smirked. "Heh~ I thought you're stalking me already, Kudou."
"Why would I? I just called to tell you that you should man up and tell her already."
"I know that, you moron."
"Really?" Conan's—Kudou Shinichi—tone of doubt did not escape his ears. "This is the fourth time so make sure you do it already."
Hattori's eyebrow twitched in annoyance. In any other day, he would have shouted and cursed at him. But this time, he could not help but agree with him.
He had to gather his courage and confess to her already.
"I know. This time, I made sure that there will be no distractions to stop me."
"Unless a bloody murder and evil kidnappers will appear somewhere in the place you're going."
"No way, I'm not even you."
"Huh? What do you mean by that?"
"Well, you always bring cases with you wherever you go." He replied, smirking. "Are you sure you're not curse?"
"Leave me alone!"
The detective of the west laughed. "Maa~ anyway, thanks for your support call, Kudou. I need to go now."
He heard him smirk. "Yeah, remember not to mess this up!"
"I said I know already!"
Hattori hung up on his friend and sighed, holding his helmet and staring at the sky.
"For the first time in my life, I cannot believe I'm wishing for a day free of murders, robberies and kidnappings."
Hattori waited for her in their usual meeting place in Tomorogi Greenfield, Octopus Park, since he told her they were using his motorbike today.
He inhaled and exhaled. He could not believe he was feeling nervous already. They were not in the place he chose yet, but he was already anxious.
Maybe this meant he would be able to do it today.
If that were the case, he would gladly accept this anxiousness.
Closing his eyes to calm himself, he did not notice the presence of the woman he had been waiting.
"Heiji?"
He jumped and turned to her, eyes wide. "Kazuha!" he exclaimed. "You surprised me!"
"What do you mean? You're having a nap that's why you did not notice me coming!"
"I'm not sleeping, stupid!"
"And I'm not stupid, stupid!"
Hattori turned away and waved a hand. "Let's stop this and go already, we're just wasting time."
Kazuha's eyes twitched. "You started it!"
"Hai hai now let's move on." He offered her the helmet she always used and rode his motorbike, starting the engine.
The teenage woman sighed and wore the helmet tight, riding the motorbike behind him.
"Where are we even going? You haven't told me anything." She asked, placing both hands on his shoulder to stabilize herself.
Heiji glanced at her, already wearing his helmet. "It's a surprise."
She wasn't able to process his words properly because he suddenly drove away from the park at full speed. To her surprise, she wrapped her arms around his abdomen to stop herself from falling out of her position from behind him.
Heiji blushed inside his full-worn helmet. She usually hung on his shoulders or the back of his motorbike. But this time, he was kind of glad of this situation, even though the nervousness was back.
"What are you doing, moron!" Kazuha shouted. "I almost fell off!" She was in the process of pulling away her arms but Heiji stopped her with one hand and firmly held it around his abdomen.
"Hold on tight!" he shouted back.
Kazuha, despite herself, blushed at his actions. She could feel the warmth from his hand.
She held on tighter and Heiji smiled and pulled his hand away to navigate his motorbike.
She leaned on his back; red faced.
What is the meaning of this? She screamed in her head. She was anxious.
Okay, Kazuha, calm down.
She breathed in and out softly, trying to relax.
Now that she was finally calm, she realized that she liked her position from behind him. She could feel his warmth even against the helmet and breathed in his scent.
At the same time, Heiji could feel his warm face. He could feel her against his back, and it was distracting him. However, he tried his best to focus. He would not want them to encounter a road accident in the highway.
Since the place he was planning to go was five to seven hours from Osaka, they left at one in the afternoon, so they would probably arrived there at six in the evening, their rest stops included.
That would be perfect.
He just hoped that the weather agrees with him.
"Wow! This is amazing!" Kazuha's bright green eyes looked around the flowers that her eyes could see. "It was so beautiful!"
She could not believe he brought her here in the Hitachi Seaside Park. She heard about it before, but this was the first time she came and it did not disappoint.
It was so beautiful and magical.
She was ecstatic.
Heiji sighed in relief. Thank goodness they made it on time.
He was planning to confess to her here, in the middle of these beautiful nemophilas with the sunset as their witness.
Kazuha ran around. He made the right decision to reserve the place with the help of a friend.
He exhaled the breath he did not notice he was holding. His heart was beating wildly against his chest. He hardened his eyes and steeled his resolve.
The place and chance were set. All he had to do was say it sincerely.
He saw her stop at the big tree at the center of the park, bent with the level of the baby blue flower and breathed in its scent. He stared at her, and found her endearing.
He realized again that he loved this girl. All of her.
She was always next to him. They were always together; In her aikido contests, and in his kendo competitions and mystery cases.
They always supported each other and with a lot of things happening with her in his life, he just did not notice at first.
He wondered when he started falling for her.
Well, at this point, it was not important anymore.
The one that matters right now was that he loved her so much he wanted to be with her not as a friend, but as someone she would want to be with in her future, forever.
Hattori Heiji closed his eyes and took a breath and sighed softly. He opened his eyes and found her standing up, looking at the view before her, side facing him. He could see the bright shine in her green orbs.
This is it, you can do it, Heiji!
He stepped closer to her. "Kazuha."
She turned to him with a smile. "Hmm?"
Her eyes widened at how close their proximity was. She stepped back a bit and fully faced him, confusion in her eyes and light blush on her cheeks.
He noticed it and he tried to maintain his serious facial expression despite wanting to smile to the fact that he could make her blush.
"H-Heiji?" she stuttered in nervousness and shyly glanced at the serious look in his eyes. "What are you—"
"Kazuha." He cut her off and gently held her both hands in his. She could feel the warmth in her cheeks. She was sure that she was furiously blushing right now.
His hands against hers felt soft and gentle as it trembled, despite his seriousness. If it was not for his trembling hands, she was sure he was not nervous with the face he was giving her right now.
Who was she kidding, of course this was Heiji she was talking about! He was probably anxious just as much as she was.
But, why was he doing this?
"Kazuha… I…" his voice cut her off through her thoughts. "I've been meaning to tell you this… but there were so many distractions."
She nodded. She could faintly feel the wind caressed her figure, as if willing her to listen.
For Heiji, the wind blowing around them felt like it was cheering him on, which he was grateful for.
Kazuha saw her childhood friend's intense gaze at her own and she was mesmerized with it. It was the first time in all her life with him seeing this side of him, and her heart was throbbing so hard against her chest.
She wasn't sure if it was a bad thing, or a good one.
"Kazuha, I love you."
The wind blew past them, with the nemophila petals dancing with it. The orange-colored sky complimented his form, and Kazuha could feel tears gather in her eyes. "Heiji…"
The famous detective of the west's eyes widened in surprise and gasped, pulled his hands away from hers, moving his hands in panic to calm her down. He did not know where to hold her to stop those tears.
"Ah! Wait! Kazuha! Don't cry!" he blinked widely. Did he just mess up?
Damn.
The girl wiped away her tears with her hands, but the tears stubbornly cascaded down her cheeks. She sniffled while shaking her head. "No, no…" she muttered.
Kazuha, what are you doing? He finally confessed to you and you made him panic and worry?
Stupid, crybaby.
She chastised herself and turned around away from him. She needed time to breath.
Heiji took this the wrong way and lowered his gaze in guilt. Probably, she was troubled since she did not feel the same way.
Great job, Hattori Heiji. You just ruined your friendship with her, and the worst, you made her cry!
His shoulder slumped in sadness, trying to ignore the burning pain in his chest.
Kazuha, after calming herself down and wiping her tears away, slowly turned back to him and gazed at him. She noticed his dejected look and was surprised.
"Heiji, what's wrong with you?" she asked, perplexed. Earlier, he looked determined but now, he looked sad and tired. "Are you alright?"
He stared at her worried eyes and placed a hand behind his head with a laugh, looking over the view before them. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry if I surprised you."
She tilted her head in confusion. "Hm… you surprised me… but…"
He straightened and turned to her again. Okay, so this is where I will get rejected right?
Man up and accept it, Heiji! Even though it hurts, let's get this over with.
His eyes widened when she reached and held his hand this time. She held his tight as if she did not want to let go.
She stared at his eyes, tears still swarming in those green orbs he loved so much, but it also showed her determination.
"Heiji, thank you for telling me."
He lowered his gaze. He just could not look at her since he might see the hurt in his eyes, and he did not want her to feel guilty.
"You know, I've been waiting to hear that from you." She said with a small smile.
The teenage boy looked up at her in surprise. "Eh?"
She gave him a bright soft smile. "I love you too, you moron."
She usually called him that every time she scolded him but now, he could feel the love in her tone and his heart soared in happiness.
"Really?"
She giggled. "Really."
"I thought you did not feel the same way."
"Why?"
"Because you are crying, and you turned away. I thought…"
Kazuha sweat dropped at that and sighed. "Moron, I was just so surprised and feel overwhelmed, so the tears just came…"
Heiji let out a light laugh. "Thank goodness." Kazuha giggled, however he was also curious about one thing.
"Since when?"
The girl shrugged, knowing what he meant. "I don't know, I just realized one day that I love you." She remarked with a grin.
Will you look at that? They were one and the same. He smirked.
"What about you? When did you realize that you love me?" she asked this time, gazing up at him.
"Who knows."
"Ehhh~"
He grinned. The light atmosphere between them was so comfortable and they were both satisfied and contented.
Finally, they were able to convey their feelings to one another.
A sneeze brought him out of his thoughts and his gaze turned to the girl he loved so much. He patted her head as she covered her nose and mouth with a handkerchief from her pocket.
"What's wrong? Feeling cold?"
She nodded. "A little bit."
He did not notice that the sun had already set, and the wind was a little cold, despite it being early summer.
The lights from the park opened around them and he smiled. He brought her in his arms gently and stroked her back. He felt her stiffen but relax a bit later and returned his embrace. She even buried her face on his chest. "You're so warm, Heiji."
He blushed and hid his face on her shoulder. He held her tighter. "That's good, because I don't want you to catch a cold in here."
She closed her eyes and breathed in his scent. "You're right, this is a special place for the two of us now, I guess."
He straightened his head, faced her with his arms still around her, and kissed her forehead. Their gaze trapped in each other.
"You're mine now, you hear me?" he said seriously, and she wanted to laugh at the tone in his voice.
"I can't believe I have a possessive boyfriend in my midst." She giggled and pulled away from his embrace.
"No, I'm not. I'm just saying it in case you forgot."
"There's no way I'll forget it, you moron."
"NO, I'm sure tomorrow you'll forget it!"
Kazuha's eyes stared at his. "With you, always beside me, there's no way, I will." She replied softly, and he smirked at her.
"Well, that's right too."
They held hands and walked around, enjoying the moment as a new couple.
Kazuha started the day without expecting anything like this. Even with Ran-chan's words earlier, she did not dare get her hopes up. However, she realized that she did the right thing because when he confessed, she felt the overwhelming happiness all at once, bursting out of her chest, bringing tears in her eyes.
It was worth the surprise because she was not expecting it.
His voice cut off her thoughts. "Do you know these flowers, Kazuha?"
She gazed at the baby blue flowers around. "No…"
He smiled. "They are called nemophila." He began as he looked before them. "It means, 'success everywhere'. You know, today, I feel like these flowers gave me the courage to finally convey my feelings to you, and it certainly lived up to its flower language."
"And that is?"
He grinned at her. "Success and Happiness."
She giggled brightly and held his arm in hers. He leaned and gazed at her softly. "I did not know you're so romantic, Heiji."
He turned away with a blush. "No, I'm not. But it's for you so it's fine."
She was so touched and was so happy of the gesture, so she consciously clasped her hand in his. Taking advantage of this, he pulled her towards the next place he had in mind.
"Let's go to the Ferris wheel! You will be able to see a spectacular view."
"Sounds fun! Come on!" She happily agreed.
At long last, she would be able to do a lot of things with him without hiding her feelings.
This time, they would be finally together as a couple. With him, surely, this would last forever.
OMAKE
"I wonder if Hattori-kun confess to Kazuha-chan already…" Ran remarked as she ate dinner.
Kogorou clicked his tongue and ate from his bowl as well. "Leave them alone. They can take care of themselves already."
Ran nodded with a sigh but was still quite bothered. "But… I'm curious with their trip today."
"Why don't you call her after dinner then?"
"I'm planning to, but I don't want to disturb them if they are still together right now."
"Then just wait for her to call you."
"You're right." Ran sighed in agreement. She continued to eat.
Conan, who was listening the whole time, was also feeling the same way as Ran. He was curious on how that confession turned out.
After dinner, while Ran was washing the dishes, and before he went for a shower, he received a message from his detective counterpart.
He opened it and smiled.
Kudo,
I know you will probably tease and annoy me so I'll tell you before you can even ask me.
Yes, I did it. I managed to confess to her, and she loved me too. So right now, we are finally a couple.
Am I amazing?
We're still here right now and admiring the place. We will bring you and nee-chan here soon. I'm sure you'll like it here too.
See you then.
Hattori
Ehhh~ so he found the perfect place, huh? He wondered where it was.
No matter, since he was going to blast here to Tokyo again for that.
He just hoped that those murderers, robbers, and kidnappers do not plan to hinder with their plans when that day come.
It will also be a date between him and Ran after all, even though he was in the body of a six-year-old boy.
Notes: Whew. I'm not sure if they're quite OC. But I did my best to live up with their characters. The dialogues indicating the kansai language are difficult for me though so I just left it normally. Just imagine them speaking in kansai-ben with the same meaning in the dialogues.
Read and review if you like it!
Thank you and see you again!
