Chapter 5: Attack on Oolong.

After obtaining the Three-Star Ball from Master Roshi, the trio of adventurers now found themselves in a quiet little village known as Aru Village.

"Are you sure this place has a Dragon Ball? I can't find anything..." Kale said as she looked through a house's window.

"Keep searching! The Dragon Ball has to be here somewhere!" Bulma said as she checked the Dragon Radar. "Though, to be completely honest, I am starting to believe that this village is deserted..."

Kakarot, meanwhile, had a serious expression on his face. He looked from left to right and said "No way, I sense some people here."

Bulma looked up from her Dragon Radar and asked "You sure?"

Kakarot nodded and ran from house to house, looking through the windows. The trio had come to this village in search of the next Dragon Ball, and while both Kale and Bulma were searching for it, Kakarot on the other hand was trying to see if there was anybody in the village as he sensed people in the village, even though it seemed deserted.

"Hello! Is anybody there?!" Kakarot called out.

No response.

"But I'm sure there are people here! I can sense them..." Kakarot exclaimed.

Bulma looked at Kakarot and shrugged. "Maybe there isn't anybody here after all. Besides, why do you care? We're here for the Dragon Ball, not to make friends..."

Kakarot ignored Bulma's statement and continued searching. "It doesn't make sense. There should be dozens of people here!"

"I can sense them too, Kakarot," Kale said as she looked up from a small snail she was playing with.

Kakarot walked up to a door that said 'Sherman Priest' and knocked loudly. "Hello! Can anybody hear me?! I know you're in there! Why won't you open up?!"

"Looks like it's locked," Bulma said as she stood behind Kakarot.

Kakarot frowned. "Well, whatever. I'm going in," he said as he pulled his fist back. He then delivered a powerful punch to the door, creating a small hole, which he then put his hand through. After that, he unlocked the door and entered. "There! Now it's unlocked!"

Bulma shrugged and said, "You sure know how to go overboard..."

"Grandpa Gohan says that about Kakarot too!" Kale grinned.

The trio proceeded to enter the home. Little did they know, however, somebody was inside, ready to strike.

Before Kakarot knew it, a large ax came crashing down on his head!

Bulma gasped, while Kale just looked on.

The ax proceeded to shatter, while a large lump appeared on Kakarot's head. He immediately held his head and yelled "Hey! What's your problem?! That hurt, you know!" He then took out his Power Pole and pointed it at the person who attacked him.

The person who attacked Kakarot was an old man who wore blue overalls and a green shirt. He wore glasses and had a large, bushy black mustache. He became frightened and immediately prostrated towards Kakarot. "Please, Lord Oolong! I beg for your forgiveness! You can have as much food as you like, just don't take my daughter!"

Kakarot raised an eyebrow and put away his Power Pole. "Food?" he asked.

Kale pushed her brother away and asked "Hey, sir, who's this Oolong guy?"

Bulma's gaze moved from the man to a little girl hiding behind a table at the back of the room. "And what exactly does he want to do with your daughter?"

The little girl placed a wet towel on the injury that Kakarot had gotten on his head. "I'm sorry about my dad. Here, hopefully this'll help you."

"You can't just go and attacking people like that! If it were me, I'd be dead right now!" Bulma scolded.

The man, who was known as the Sherman Priest, scratched the back of his and nervously chuckled. "Hehe, I'm sorry," he said.

A large group of people had now surrounded the house. Everybody from the village had come out of their houses to see what was going on. "Thank god it's not Oolong!" one person said. "I knew it was too early for him to come out!" another shouted.

"Anyways, you didn't answer our questions. Just who is this Oolong guy?" Bulma asked.

The Sherman Priest's demeanor quickly changed and he looked down to the ground sadly.

"Oolong is the name of a terrible monster that lives in this area! He's extremely cruel and heartless!" he explained.

"A monster?" Bulma asked.

The man nodded. "Yes, a monster. What's more...He has the ability to change his form into all sorts of terrible things! Nobody has ever seen his true form, though some of us are unsure if we even want to see it..."

Kakarot was fully interested in the story. He liked the idea of facing an opponent who could change forms. Maybe then he could actually have a challenge.

"At first, he would only steal our food and water, but now he's become perverted, and is trying to find a bride! Every day, he shows up for five minutes, inspecting our daughters and trying to see which one he likes!" he added.

Kale and Bulma exchanged confused glances.

"Yesterday, Oolong came to the village in the form of a demon, and, after three minutes of terror, demanded that I give him my daughter's hand in marriage! He's going to come today at noon to kidnap her!" the man finished.

Kale and Bulma remained silent, while Kakarot immediately decided to say something.

"This Oolong guy sounds tough! I'll beat him up for you! I want to have a challenging fight anyways!" Kakarot grinned.

"Hey, wait a minute! You can't just go on making decisions like that!" Bulma yelled.

"Why not?" Kakarot asked.

Bulma rummaged through her bag and took out a Dragon Ball, specifically the Two-Star Dragon Ball. She then handed it to the man and asked "Say, old man, do you have a ball like this one?"

The Sherman Priest took the Dragon Ball and inspected it. "I'm sorry, I don't think I do," he said.

Bulma sighed and took back her Dragon Ball. "That's fi-" she started, but was cut off by an old lady who was part of the crowd that had gathered around the house.

"Excuse me, young one, I have a ball just like that one!" She exclaimed.

"Grandma Paozu? What are you doing here?" the Sherman Priest asked.

The old woman, known as Grandma Paozu, put her hand in her pocket and took out a Dragon Ball. It had six stars on it, making it the Six-Star Dragon Ball.

"Wow! So it really is here!" Bulma exclaimed happily. She extended her hand to grab it, but the old lady slapped her hand.

"Kids these days have no respect for their elders! Haven't your parents taught you any manners?!" the old lady angrily asked. "My grandmother found this when she was a child!"

Bulma ignored the fact that the old lady was scolding her and asked "If Kakarot here defeats Oolong for you, will you give that ball to us?"

The woman blinked twice and said "Uh, of course. But defeating Oolong? Are you certain that you can do such a thing?"

Bulma chuckled proudly and said "Oh trust me. Kakarot can defeat that perverted bastard for you. You said that he'd come at noon, right? We'll just wait until then, and see what we can do!"

Bulma and Kale were discussing the plan for the third time, and Kakarot was beginning to get annoyed.

"Come on guys! We all know the plan! I fight Oolong while Kale uses her Nimbus-thingy to find Oolong's house!"

Bulma growled. "No, you idiot! The plan is Kale will dress up as the Sherman Priest's daughter and purposely get kidnapped by Oolong, and then, after he brings her to his house, she'll quickly defeat him once he's off-guard! Problem solved!"

Kakarot frowned. "That plan stinks! Why can't I just fight Oolong?!"

Bulma frowned and said "Because, you idiot, if Oolong really is as strong as the villagers say he is, we need to catch him off-guard to beat him! Besides, if you fail to defeat him, the Sherman Priest's daughter will get taken away, and we can't just let his daughter get kidnapped! Who knows what terrible things that shapeshifter will do to her?!"

Kakarot rolled his eyes. "Whatever..." he muttered.

"I don't like these clothes," Kale complained as she attempted to move in a dress that belonged to the priest's daughter.

"Oh come on! You look great!" Bulma replied.

Before the conversation could continue any further, everybody in the room could feel the ground beneath them shake. It stopped and began again. Almost like some sort of giant was creeping towards them.

"He's here!" the Sherman Priest yelled as he hugged his daughter tightly.

Bulma grinned and gave Kale a thumbs up. "Alright, now it's time for the plan to begin! You ready?"

Kale nodded and exited the house. The moment she did, she heard the door behind her lock. "Seriously?" Kale asked.

Kale could hear Bulma nervously chuckle from the other side of the door.

"Well, if this Oolong guy really is as scary and strong as the villagers say, then it'd be best for us to hide in here, don't you think?" Bulma asked.

Kale shrugged and said, "I guess..."

The giant steps which shook the earth began to get nearer and nearer, and eventually, he came into view.

It was Oolong.

He was quite literally a demon. He was hideous. He had red skin and two large, white horns on the top of his head. His eyes were terribly large and he had a gaze that could scare even the bravest of people. However, although he looked extremely brutish, he apparently had time to wear a fancy white suit. He also had a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

"I've come for you, my sweetie pie," Oolong bellowed, a large grin present on his face.

"Yeah, uh, that's great!" Kale nervously said in an attempt to convince Oolong to take her away.

Kakarot watched everything go down. He was sitting on a nearby roof, angrily watching it all play out. He wanted to fight Oolong. He was certain that he could beat him in one punch.

Oolong, thinking that Kale was nervous because of his scary form, grinned and yelled "TRANSFORM!"

In a puff of smoke, Oolong's body changed. When the dust settled, the demon was gone and was replaced with an extremely handsome man.

"How is this, my young lady? Or would you prefer someone younger?"

Kakarot grinned to himself. "Wow! So Oolong really CAN transform! Cool!"

He took out his Power Pole and got ready to strike. He didn't care about Bulma's plan. He wanted to fight with Oolong. However, right before he could jump off the roof and attack the shapeshifter, Bulma immediately barged out of the home she was hiding in.

"Wow! My name's Bulma! It's nice to meet you, sir!" she said. "I just wanted to say that you're extremely handsome!"

Kale blinked twice and then her jaw dropped. Bulma had just jeopardized the plan!

Kakarot decided to put away his Power Pole. He didn't know what Bulma was doing, but he wanted to see how things played out.

Oolong stared at Bulma for a moment, and then asked "How old are you?"

Bulma grinned and said, "I'm sixteen!"

Oolong began to think to himself. "Sixteen? That makes her older than me...Then again, she DOES seem pretty attractive. Which would I rather pick? A younger, cuter girl...Or an older, hotter girl?... This is a tough decision... Maybe I should just take both... That would probably be the best choice I could make..."

Kakarot began to grow impatient. "This is taking forever. If Bulma's not going to do her plan, then I guess I'm going to do mine!"

He took out his Power Pole and jumped off the roof, whacking it onto Oolong's head!

Landing onto the ground, Kakarot pointed the pole towards Oolong and said "My name is Kakarot! Let's fight!"

Oolong, however, couldn't hear Kakarot's command. He was too busy trying to fight the urge to cry, since he was actually extremely weak, and only used his transformations to scare the villagers and pressure them into giving him what he wanted.

A few moments of silence passed, and Kakarot spoke again. "Well?! Let's fight!"

Oolong finally gave in, but decided to be discrete about it. He turned to face Kakarot, a grin present on his face. He rubbed his head with one hand and said "Hello there! To what do I-"

"I wanna fight you!" Kakarot replied, cutting Oolong off before he could even finish his sentence.

The shapeshifter chuckled nervously. He then shook his head and said "Me? F-Fight you? You'd probably lose. Go home, kid!"

Kakarot frowned. "Well, we'll never know if we don't fight! Now let's go!"

Oolong growled, doing his best to act tough. "Hm, this kid's probably just not afraid of me because of my form! I'll show him something really tough!" he thought to himself.

"TRANSFORMATION!" he yelled.

In a puff of yellow smoke, the extremely handsome man was gone and was replaced with an enormous, black bull with large pointy horns. Oolong smirked.

"Well, kid? Do you still want to fight?!" the bull bellowed.

Kakarot nodded his head quickly. "Yeah! But do you think you can turn into something stronger?"

Oolong was shocked, to say the least.

"St-Stronger?" the shapeshifter nervously asked.

"Yeah, stronger!" Kakarot replied. "I want to have a good fight!"

While Kakarot was speaking with Oolong, Bulma was no longer in love with the shapeshifter, due to the fact that he was now a hideous monster. Secretly and quietly, she proceeded to enter the Sherman Priest's house. She slowly closed the door, but was caught off-guard by Kale, who was now in her usual outfit.

"Ah! Er, Kale! What are you doing here?" Bulma asked nervously.

"I came to change into my usual clothes. It was hard to move in that dress!" Kale responded cheerfully.

Bulma nodded and said, "Y-Yeah, it can be like that sometimes."

Kale then asked, "But Bulma, why did you ruin the plan?"

Bulma nervously grinned and said, "R-Ruined? No way! I was just, uh, allowing your brother to do his thing. That's all."

"Really?" Kale asked. "You didn't seem very fond of his idea before..."

Bulma frowned and said "Fine. I guess I just lose control when I see a handsome man."

Kale kinda just stared at Bulma.

"You're too young. You wouldn't get it," Bulma huffed, turning her back to Kale and peering through the hole in the door to watch the showdown.

"Listen, kid, I'm not playing any games! I WILL kill you!" Oolong bellowed.

Kakarot was getting annoyed. "Yeah, I get that! Now let's fight!"

Oolong growled and looked at a nearby clock. "Two more minutes until I transform back. Might as well try and make the most of it!"

Oolong proceeded to transform into a giant, red dragon. It had bright yellow eyes, and fangs that looked like they could cut through metal. Its claws were humongous and seemed like they could probably destroy the foundation of a sturdy building, and its body was covered in scales that seemed as if they could protect him from anything! And, at the end of its tail was a giant spiky ball. The beast had a cold and piercing gaze.

"Now do you see, you fool?! You will NEVER be able to beat me!" Oolong bellowed.

Kakarot grinned and said "Nice! Let's get the fight underway!"

"Wait, wha-"

Kakarot lunged at Oolong, sending a devastating kick to his stomach, causing the shapeshifter to stagger back.

"Y-Yikes!" Oolong thought to himself. "I've gotta get out of here! There's no way I can stand up to this guy! Besides, my five-minute time limit is running out!"

Oolong transformed into a bat and yelled "I've gotta go do something! I'll be back later!"

He tried to fly away, but Kakarot was ready for such a trick. "EXTEND!" he yelled. On command, the Power Pole began to elongate, and it was now long enough to hit Oolong. He then used the Power Pole to attack the shapeshifter, hitting him with such force that he was launched several miles away. After hearing a loud thud, Kakarot decided to go after Oolong, just to make sure the shapeshifter was actually defeated.

After a bit of searching, Kakarot found him, slumped against a tree in the middle of the forest.

Or at least, he assumed he found him.

"Are you Oolong?" Kakarot asked the person, who was hardly breathing.

The person was an anthropomorphic pig, dressed in some sort of strange communist-looking outfit.

"If I told you that this was my true form...Would you believe me?..." the pig weakly asked.

Kakarot smirked. "Yeah. You didn't even try to fight, so it was pretty obvious that you weren't as tough as you claimed to be!"

Oolong then smiled and asked "So...Are you going to finish me off?.."

Kakarot nodded and proceeded to raise his Power Pole, ready to strike the pathetic pig.

But then he hesitated.

He threw his weapon onto the ground and shook his head.

"Grandpa Gohan said that I should never kill an opponent...and Kale would probably give me an earful if I actually did kill you..."

Oolong breathed a sigh of relief, happy to know that he was going to live to see another day.

"Thank you very much...I'm sorry for what I did an-"

Kakarot crushed Oolong's skull under the force of his shoe, killing him on the spot.

He didn't know what came over him. He just had to do it. And worst of all, he genuinely enjoyed finishing off the shapeshifter.

It was his Saiyan blood at play, but of course, he didn't know that.

Kakarot slowly backed away and looked at Oolong's dead body, genuinely terrified of what he had just done. "He was a bad guy...That makes it okay to kill him...Right?"

He clenched his fists. Strange thoughts were going through his head. He was taught to never kill an opponent, but why did it feel so right to do so?

Why did Kakarot find enjoyment out of it?

Why did Kakarot feel as if he wanted to do it again?

After a few moments, he shook his head. "No...He was just an animal...That justifies it...See? I'll even make pork out of him..."

Bulma, Kale, and the rest of the village, patiently waited for Kakarot's return. The last thing that they saw was Kakarot running after Oolong, and they were starting to get worried that something had happened to him.

"Oolong must have killed him!" one villager exclaimed.

"Now we're going to have to suffer even more since we tried going against him!" another added.

"Do you really think Kakarot could have lost?" Bulma asked Kale. The girl simply shook her head in response.

"I doubt it. Kakarot's way stronger than Oolong. I just know it!"

And, the moment she said that, Kakarot appeared through the village gates. But there was something weird about him. He wasn't his usual cheery self. There was something off about him...

Of course, nobody noticed that. Instead, they noticed that he was holding a large block of meat, and on top of said block of meat were some clothes.

"Woah! Kakarot! What's this?!" Kale asked, running up to her brother.

Kakarot managed a small smile.

"It's pork! I, uh, hunted a pig after defeating Oolong," he lied.

Kale nodded and then noticed the clothes. "Well, where'd you get these?"

Kakarot chuckled nervously and said "I found them. I think they'd be comfy, so I think we should keep them."

Kale raised an eyebrow, but didn't question her brother further.

"So, you actually defeated Oolong?!" the Sherman Priest asked.

Kakarot nodded. "Yeah. Turns out that he's actually really weak, and he was only using his scary transformations to intimidate you all!"

"It seems we were fooled!" Grandma Paozu exclaimed. She then looked at Bulma and smiled warmly, handing her the Dragon Ball. "Here's that ball that you wanted."

Bulma grinned from ear to ear. "That leaves just two more!" she exclaimed.

And so, after saying goodbye to the people of Aru Village, the three adventurers set off, searching for the sixth Dragon Ball.

Q: Who will be Kale's love interest?

A: I'm going to keep that a secret for now because I don't want to spoil the story that I have planned. Just know that they'll be introduced MUCH later on in the story.

Q: Will Kakarot end up with Chi-Chi in this story like in canon?

A: Again, I don't really want to spoil the story, but I'll just say that Kakarot will not be ending up with Chi-Chi.

Q: Kale x Broly.

They are legendary Saiyans.
Does that make him Goku's cousin?

A: Nope. Broly is related to neither Kale nor Kakarot.

And Chapter five is done! My laptop was acting kind of weird so I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get this out in time, but thankfully I did!

I decided to kill off Oolong because the poor guy hardly does anything after original Dragon Ball, and also because his death will be the catalyst of sorts for Kakarot's future character arc. Anyways, like always, please review and I'll see you guys next week!
