Leo checked his SAW; he would finish configuring the gun when they got to…

"What's the name of this kingdom we're headed to?" Leo asked, leaning his gun on his shoulder. "This seems like a lot of security for some mech suits." Leo added as Winter hummed.

"Vale, my sister is attending Beacon Academy there." Winter stated as the train continued moving through the mountain. "And their Atlesian Paladin-290 prototypes." Winter added while Leo hummed.

"They look like Mantis…" Leo said and looked at the suits. "Or as the scientists call them? HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark IX Armor Defense System… And they wonder why none of us call them by their names…" Leo muttered and turned to the gathered Marines and Atlesian soldiers.

"The UNSC has a lot of hardware." Winter responded as Leo nodded. "You said you used to engage the covenant." Winter put in as he nodded.

"Engage is… Putting it gently." Leo said while shaking his head. "They butchered humanity, billions of people… I don't know if Remnant had something like that? Covenant BURN planets, they turn them to ash." Leo stated and sighed before checking his gun.

Winter said nothing as the train continued on its course, they'd arrive in Vale in an hour if everything went fine. Winter had a feeling they'd run into trouble sooner or later.

"You know Vale is hosting a tournament for combatants around the 4 kingdoms." Winter put in as Leo nodded.

"Sounds unique, you plan on joining it?" Leo asked and walked towards the edge of the train. "Hmm… I hate calm pauses like this. Anytime there's no attack? That never feels good, you can just tell something bad is going to happen." Leo said as the sound of engines started to grow louder.

Leo who had synced his motion tracker to register Atlesian military as allies saw a red dot. He turned to Winter who already had her sword ready.

"I'm guessing General Ironwood didn't assign air support?" Leo asked, readying his SAW and turning to see a pair of VTOL craft above them.

"WHITE FANG BULLHEADS!" One of the soldiers yelled as the craft swooped down.

"I'll take that as a no…" Leo yelled and aimed his gun skywards.

The doors slid open and a pair of nose mounted autocannons revealed themselves. Leo rushed into cover as the craft strafed the train. The other opened its doors and a squad of 10 soldiers boarded the train.

"Someone bring that down!" Leo ordered and emerged cover to open fire.

The SAW belched out 7.62x51mm FMJ APHE which peppered the craft, rocking it and sending it spiraling back. One upgrade over the regular SAWs? This one-shot armor piercing explosive rounds at the cost of lower rate of fire…. But that suited Leo just fine.

The soldiers focused their fire on the Spartan who was threating their air support. The rounds shattered against Leo's shields as he advanced on the soldiers. The majority of UNSC and Atlesian troops focused their fire on the craft.

One of the soldiers swung at Leo with a sword which he easily sidestepped. Leo tripped the soldier to the ground and holstered his gun. He drew his knife and dodged another's strike while stabbing the man in the chest.

Winter rushed forward as Leo kicked another who tried to bring up his pistol. The woman's Grimm mask shattered into pieces as the terrorist was sent skidding back.

Winter leapt off Leo's shoulder, planting her sword into one of the White Fang soldiers. He turned to her.

"Do you know these guys at all?" Leo asked, charging a white fang soldier who opened fire. "Their organized, I'll give them that." Leo added as he grabbed the soldier's rifle.

His shields sparkled but didn't break. Their weapons were no more effective against him then beanbags.

Leo tossed one of the White Fang members backwards by the neck, smashing into the wall. He grabbed at the remote detonator on his thigh.

"White Fang are always organized… For terrorists." Winter added, deflecting bullets with her sword. "Their probably bringing in more reinforcements." Winter stated which caused Leo to hum.

The other bullhead readied its guns as Leo advanced on the craft. He lifted his gun towards the aircraft.

"Their not a match for a spartan." Leo said and fired the round towards the craft.

He thumbed the gun's detonator which flew towards the craft and exploded, causing the craft to rear back. Leo watched the craft fly backwards, it's frame damaged. The craft smashed into a hill and exploded. Leo inserted a mew round onto the gun and holstered it.

"If they were smart?" Leo asked and looked at the White Fang soldiers sprawled around. "They'd place soldiers behind here, flank us… I don't know why they'd attack a speeding train, can't mass an attack here." Leo said and brushed off his armor.

"Because there's less security." Winter said and looked at Leo. "They've done this for years. The White Fang attack everything they can, resources, weapons… Anything they can add to their supply of ammo to use on humanity." Winter added which got a nod from Leo.

"Then their exactly like the current covenant." Leo responded and crossed his arms. "Except they have a fleet of ships that can turn this planet to rubble… If their out there?" Leo asked and turned to Winter.

"Then it's best we locate them." Winter added as Leo nodded and crossed his arms with interest.

"And you are sure of this?" Jul Mdama asked one of his men who nodded and turned. "We will regroup… Plan another attack on the humans." Jul said and shook his head.

When Jul retrieved reports that Infinity and the majority of the UNSC fleet had vanished? He had started to order his forces to launch attacks on the UNSC.

Then whatever device his men had activated teleported the majority of his forces to this location.

Jul ordered a course set for orbit so his forces could regroup. This planet wasn't one he knew… But it was INFESTED with humans.

Jul clenched his fist. He wanted the Didact returned, not out of some sacrosanct belief his species shared. Because his power, his resources allowed him his vengeance.

"Are we still tracking Infinity?" Jul asked and got a nod. "Then we shall attack the humans… The amount of defenses Infinity means a direct attack is out of the question… We shall find another target." Jul stated as he turned and looked to the side.

He eyed an intercepted human transmission. They were hosting some sort of tournament soon. Jul clacked his jaws.

"We have our next target." Jul put in as the supreme commander chuckled to himself.

(With Leo)

Leo watched the mountains slowly give way to cliffs and sloping hills. He looked over his shoulder at Winter.

"You know their come back sooner or later." Leo put in and brushed off his armor. "They always seem to; I've been fighting long enough to know that." Leo stated and shook his head.

"I'm hoping by then that we won't have to." Winter stated while looking up at the sky. "Atlas is the most powerful military on the planet… And still have to fight pointless wars." Winter stated as Leo hummed.

"Being the biggest fish in the ocean doesn't make you king." Leo said while shaking his head. "It's an… Old saying, my father used to say. Being the strongest superpower in the galaxy? It just means more people want to test you. The UNSC thought we were the strongest empire in space… Then the covenant showed up." Leo said while he sighed.

Winter said nothing, simply curious about what would happen next. Her sister would clearly be shocked seeing the Atlesian military arrive in Atlas. Nobody was expecting the full might of the kingdom to be arriving in Vale.

But it was quite clearly going to be interesting with the Vytal Festival upcoming sooner rather then later… But that could be pushed to the back of her mind, there was much work to be done.

She turned to look at Leo. The spartan stood guard over the captured or dead White Fang soldiers. He was clearly going to be a game changer.

As was the Infinity, Atlas wasn't the biggest fish in the ocean anymore. Winter was curious how that shifted the war with the Grimm and White Fang...

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that Pyrrha and such might be different. I want to know if you think Leo should meet Pyrrha next chapter or not. Next chapter will be in a week or such and will show Leo and the others arriving in Vale. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
