Outside Wall Maria
Out in the fields outside of wall Maria, Ben, Eren and Mikasa sit back and look at the sky. Eren fell asleep while Ben and Mikasa looked at the clouds. Ben couldn't believe that he had been in this world for over a year now. He couldn't believe that he was a 30 year old man in a 10 year old body. Now that Ben was a bit older, he had re-unlocked some of his old transformations. He still couldn't transform into Alien X but he wasn't all that worried about it.
The only thing on Ben's mind was what his family must have been thinking. He had been gone for a year and he wondered if they missed him or knew that he was gone. Ben wondered and hoped that it was one of those situations where time slowed down in his universe or if and when he returned would he return to the exact moment he went into the void to fight Vilgax. Regardless of all that, Ben was doing all that he could to help those who had given him a bed to sleep in, food to eat and clothes to wear.
Ben was helping with chores around the Yeager house and even helping with the financial situation. Grisha appreciated it along with his wife Carla, Eren thought Ben was being a kissass but he appreciated when Ben would get him things. Speaking of Eren, Ben was surprised that he was so open and accepting of Ben living with them. He thought that Eren would have something to say about his being there but as time went on Ben realized that Eren was just glad to have another boy around who was his age.
Ben kind of saw himself as Eren's older brother in a way and Eren saw Ben in the same way. Besides Eren, there was Mikasa, she was a complete mystery to Ben. Unlike Eren, Mikasa wasn't quick to trust Ben or get along with him when they first met. This didn't bother Ben but when he learned of how Mikasa came to live with the Yaegers he began to understand.
Apparently when Mikasa was younger, both her mother and father were killed in front of her. The men who killed her parents were going to sell Mikasa into slavery. Luckily for Mikasa, Eren and Grisha arrived, from there Eren killed the men who killed Mikasa's parents. Ben was disgusted that mankind could be so evil and cruel in this world when they had a common enemy. Then there was the fact that Eren was capable of killing. Ben hoped that Eren wouldn't have to kill again or that Ben would have to stop him from doing it.
"NO!!!" Eren yelled waking up from a nightmare which pulled Ben from his thoughts
"Another nightmare?" Mikasa asked Eren
"No, I didn't have a nightmare" Eren answered trying to sound tough
"If you didn't have a nightmare then why are you crying?" Ben asked
Eren looked down and saw that there was tears coming from his eyes. Immediately he wiped them away and tried to act like they were never there.
"I don't know what your talking about" Eren said
"Whatever" Ben said leaning back
"I think we should get going" Mikasa said standing up
"Yeah let's get going, I think crybaby needs a nap" Ben said getting up
"I wasn't crying and I'm not a crybaby" Eren said to Ben, hitting him in the arm
"Yeah yeah, whatever" Ben said grabbing his pack full of lumber
Eren and Mikasa grabbed their packs and three headed towards the wall gates
Time Skip
Wall Gate
"Look, could you two please not tell anyone I was crying?" Eren asked Ben and Mikasa
"Now he admits he was crying" Ben says to himself
"Well, could you please not tell anyone?" Eren asked again
"I won't tell anyone unless you irritate me which might be impossible for you" Ben answered
"Don't worry Eren, I won't tell anyone" Mikasa answered
"Okay" Eren said
"Well what do you know, if isn't Eren, Ben and Mikasa" a voice said
The three looked over and saw Hannes drinking along with his buddies
"Hey Hannes" Ben said with a wave
"Hey kid" Hannes replied with a drink
Eren noticed that the men were drinking alcohol and this began to irritate him
"You know you drunk asses should be more vigilant, there could be a titan attack at any moment" Eren yelled at the men
"What did you say you little shit?" One of the men asked angrily
"Easy there, don't worry about him, he's all bark, no bite, Ben and Mikasa are his muzzle" Hannes told his friend stopping him from doing something to Eren
"Whatever Hannes, you still need to be vigilante, who knows when the titans could attack" Eren said
"Kid there hasn't been a titan attack in a long time and even if there was, there's no way in hell they could climb over a 50 foot wall" Hannes tells Eren
Eren was going to say something but Ben punched him in the arm to stop him from saying anything
"Ouch" Eren said rubbing his arm where Ben hit him
"Look, we shouldn't be relying on the safety of these walls, we are living like cattle crammed together" Eren said
"I think you three should head on home now" Hannes told the three
Eren walked ahead but as Mikasa and Ben were going to catch up to him, Hannes stop them
"Look you two, I think Eren wants to join the Survey Corps, I think it's best if you two try to convince him otherwise" Hannes tells Ben and Mikasa
Small Time Skip
Shiganshina District
Ben and Mikasa were able to catch up with Eren after Hannes stopped them and had a quick talk with them
"I can't wait till I'm old enough to join the army and become a member of the Survey Corps" Eren said as the three of them continued to walk
"Eren, I don't think it is wise of you to want to join the Survey Corps" Ben told Eren
"Whatever Ben, be cattle all you want, not me" Eren said
"I agree with Ben on this Eren, it is too dangerous to join the Survey Corps" Mikasa said
"Not you too" Eren said
"Eren we care about you, so don't do something stupid like that" Ben said
Just then the sound of a bell ringing caught Eren's attention
"Their back" Eren said with a smile
Before Ben or Mikasa could say anything, Eren ran off to where groups of people were gathering. Ben and Mikasa ran after Eren to stop him from doing something dangerous or stupid. Ben and Mikasa pushed their way through the people and found Eren waiting patiently.
"Eren" Ben and Mikasa said
"Hey guys, looks like you two made it just in time" Eren said acting like nothing happened
"Just in time for what?" Ben asked
"Look" Eren answered pointing towards the gates
Ben watched as the gates open up and large group of people on horseback came ridding in. Seeing the symbol on their uniforms, Ben knew right away that they were the Survey Corps and they had returned from their mission. Something odd stuck out to Ben, it seemed as though they all had a dark and grim expression on their face that was cold and emotionless. It was when a older woman pushed her way through the crowd and ran up to them. She was looking for her son and wondered where he was for she couldn't not find him amongst their ranks.
Ben then knew why their faces were so grim, the man that the older woman asked about her son handed her something. It was a cloth and it was wrapped around a piece of an arm, that arm was once her son. The woman fell to her knees and cried, Ben wondered why when this world showed goodness in it, it also would show something dark like this. The scene continued on and the soldier told the woman that her son did not die in vain but they still didn't have any information on stopping the titans. He then blamed himself for the failure he and his men went through.
"Okay Eren, we should head back home now" Ben said to Eren trying to leave before something else happened
"I can't believe that our tax dollars go towards their failures, why do we even need such a useless corps in the first place?" A man asked
Just then angered by the man's comments, Eren hit the man with a stick
"What the hell was that?" The man asked angered
"You need to shut up, they sacrifice themselves so you can be fat and ignorant" Eren told the man
"Like you know how this world works little shit, your nothing just like them" the man said
Before Eren could hit the man again, Ben stopped him and hit him on the head
"What the hell Ben" Eren said as Mikasa pulled him away from the crowd
"Sorry about that sir, my friend isn't exactly right in the head" Ben said to the man
"Yeah whatever, just make sure you keep him in check next time" the man said
"Will do sir" Ben said to the man before leaving
Ben then walked over to Eren who was being held back by Mikasa
"Why'd you stop me Ben?" Eren asked
"I stopped you because you didn't think that through" Ben answered irritated
"I thought it through completely" Eren said defending himself
"No you didn't Eren, so stop trying to act tough" Ben replied
"Look Eren, after all that do you still want to join the Survey Corps?" Mikasa asked Eren
Eren didn't answer
"Fine then, let's just head home" Ben said
Time Skip
Yaeger Residence
Ben, Eren and Mikasa were finally able to make it back home after all that had happened today
"We're home" Ben said as he and the other two walked into the house
"Welcome home children" Carla said greeting the three
"hey mom" Eren said as he sat his pack down next Ben's and Mikasa's
"So how did you all do gathering wood?" Carla asked them
"We all did really good" Eren answered
Carla went over and began to pinch both of Eren's ears
"Mom, what are you doing?" Eren asked as he flinched from the pain
"Eren Yeager, I did not give birth to a liar, I already know that you made Ben and Mikasa do most of the work" Carla told Eren
"You would be right about that Mrs. Yaeger" Ben said walking by
"Shut up Ben" Eren said as he struggled to get free
"Well whatever happened, it's lunch time" Carla said letting Eren go
As they all sat down at the table, Grisha joined them
"This meal looks lovely dear" Grisha said
"Thank you love, I worked hard on it" Carla replied
As they all continued to eat Mikasa decided to speak up
"By the way, Eren wants to join the Survey Corps" she said
Carla gasped as she dropped her food
"Eren is that true?" Carla asked Eren horrified
"Yes mom, I want to join the Survey Corps and there's nothing that is going to stop me" Eren answered
"Eren, you must reconsider this, it is dangerous out there and I don't want to lose you" Carla said trying to get Eren to change his mind
Carla then looked over at Grisha, wanting him to say something
"Eren, why exactly do you want to join the Survey Corps?" Grisha asked Eren
"I want to leave these walls and explore the world and the only way to do that is to join the Survey Corps" Eren answered
Carla waited for Grisha to scold Eren after hearing his answer but that didn't happen
"Grisha my love, say something" Carla said
"There is nothing I can say my darling, the boy has a good reason and I am not one to deny another the want to explore" Grisha said before getting up from the table
Carla couldn't believe it, she didn't know what to say
"Oh by the way Eren, when I get back I will show you what I've been working on in the cellar" Grisha told Eren
Hearing that, Eren looked over at the cellar, surprised that he was finally going to see what his father had been working on down there
"Oh and Ben also, I'll show you something that I've been planning and working on thanks to the "help" you've given me" Grisha told Ben
With that Grisha grabbed his coat and left the house closing the door behind him. Ben wondered what Grisha had planned and what it was that he was working on for him.
"Regardless of what your father says Eren, it is still stupid and suicidal to join the Survey Corps" Carla told Eren
"It's not stupid and it's not suicidal, you just don't get it mom" Eren said before running out the door
"Scream and run" Ben said with a sigh
"Ben and I will go and get him" Mikasa said
"We'll make sure he doesn't do anything stupid" Ben says
"Thank you, both of you but before I forget, please will the two of you look after Eren?" Carla asks Mikasa and Ben
"Don't worry, I will take care of him" Mikasa answered
"I won't let the idiot get into trouble" Ben answered
"Again thank you both" Carla said
With that, Ben and Mikasa got up from the table and ran out the house looking for Eren
"I have faith in them" Carla said to herself
Time Skip
Shiganshina District
Somewhere in Shiganshina, three boys were beating up Armin for stating that the titans would break through the walls and invade their town
"You just had to run your mouth" one of the boys said as they punched Armin
"Idiot, just and idiot, that's what you are" the second boy said as he kicked Armin
"Your gonna learn your lesson today" the third boy said as he readied to hit Armin
"HEY!!! LAY OFF OF HIM!!!" Eren yelled as he ran towards the three boys
The three boys stopped beating up Armin and turned their attention towards Erin
"Why don't you pick on someone your own side?" Eren asked the three boys
"Don't worry Yeager, your beating is next" one of the boys said as he pushed Eren back
The boys then resumed kicking and punching Armin
"Just go Eren, it isn't worth it" Armin told Eren
"I'm not going to just let them beat you up" Eren said as he pushed the boys off of Armin
"You want your beating now? Fine then" one of the boys said
As the boy grabbed Eren by the shirt he stopped before he punched Eren
"Why'd you stop, it's just Yaeger?" one of the boys asked the other
"Look" the boy answered
The other two boys looked behind Eren and saw Mikasa standing there
"It's just Mikasa, there's more of us then her" one of the boys said
"But she isn't alone" a voice said
The three boys looked over and saw Ben standing there next to Mikasa with his arms
"I'm definitely not fighting Tennyson" one of the boys says as he drops Eren and runs away
"Yeah I'm with him" another boy says as he runs away
"Fine then, I'll just do it myself" the last boy says as he goes over to hit Ben
As the boy tried to hit Ben in the face, Ben reacted by pushing the boy's arm to the side then grabbing him by the elbow before sweeping his leg and throwing him over his shoulder with a judo throw. Falling to the ground, the boy got up and saw Ben looking down at him.
"Scram" Ben told him
With that, the last boy ran away leaving Ben alone with Eren, Mikasa and a beaten up Armin
"Are you okay Armin?" Eren asks Armin as he helps him up
"I'm fine, don't worry about me" Armin answers
"Why do you let them beat you up like that?" Mikasa asks Armin
"There really isn't a point in trying to stop them, I can either avoid them over them get their energy out" Armin answered
"Let me guess, you were talking about the titans invading?" Ben asked
Armin was going to say something but didn't because he knew Ben was right
"That answers that" Ben said
"Let's get you cleaned up Armin" Mikasa said
"Thanks guys" Armin said
"Don't mention it" Ben said
Time Skip
While Ben and the others were helping Armin clean up from his beating that he got, Armin was talking to them about the government
"You know the government just wants to keep us trap in the walls, they don't ever want us to leave" Armin said
"Armin are you okay, did you hit your head badly?" Ben asks
"My head is fine, why do you ask?" Armin asked Ben
"I just want to make sure since you are sounding a lot like Eren" Ben answered
"Hey" Eren said sounding offended
"But he's right, they are trying to keep us in here" Armin said
"Look, as far as I know for being as long as I have in this universe, those walls have been up for a long time and for over a 100 years, they have not been breached once" Ben said
"You may be right about that Ben but there is still a chance it could happen" Armin said
"Now I'm not saying it couldn't or wouldn't happen, I'm just saying that it is highly unlikely to happen today" Ben said
Before any of them could say anything else about the matter, a loud shaking caught their attention. Ben and the others looked over and saw a lightning bolt come down from the sky and hit just outside the wall. Out of the smoke it appeared, two large hands appeared on top of the 50 meter wall. Ben and the others watched in horror as a giant head looked over the wall down at them and everyone else.
"What is it that?" Eren asked
A/N: Its about to begin readers the fall of wall Maria is about to happen and everything is going to change and not in a good way. What will happen, what will Ben do? Those questions and more will be answered in the next chapter. I've been waiting for this moment for awhile now and I know you readers have as well. Trust me when I say this, a lot is going to happen and Ben's life is going to change forever along with Eren's and the others. Now, I am going to say this now, Ben isn't going to instantly transform into Waybig and stop the giant colossal titan. Reasons are things need to happen and the plot needs to go on.
Now, I am going to be answering questions and responding to comments from the last chapter. Guest-Questioner, when it comes to named character deaths, I am for the most part going to keep those who died and have them remain dead. When it comes to Waybig VS Bertholdt, I couldn't say for sure who would win but my money is on Waybig with his cosmic energy beams. Guest, if they live longer in the series then he'll save them but when it comes down to it, those die will die and I'm not going to change that.
With those questions answered I am going to be turning my attention towards the comments from the last chapter. Bromega2477, the stage has been set and that wall is going to fall and people are definitely going to die. Guest-Questioner, I want Ben to not have to rely on the omnitrix all the time only when the situation calls for it. I mean Ben is skilled without it and add his 30 plus years of experience, there's a lot that Ben can do. Wintas, I mean its not like Eren could argue with his father. Even if Eren didn't want Ben around, Grisha wouldn't of said "sorry Ben your screwed, good luck get the fuck out". It just doesn't work that way but I am glad it didn't turn you off from the story.
