Chapter 5: Underground Prelims
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I'm so sorry about the wait but you'll be happy to know I haven't abandoned this story. It just took me a while to figure some details out. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves at the Facility, a horrible prison where the criminals of Neo Domino City ended up.
There we find Yusei sitting in his cell.
During his duel with Jack things go wild and crazy which unfortunately led to him being captured by Sector Security and locked up.
On his left cheek, we see Yusei had a yellow mark running down it. It was not only a mark that meant he was sent to the facility but also a tracker.
But right now his only thought was what happened to his friend.
'I hope you're okay Roxas, wherever you are.' Yusei thought looking out the window. 'I'll find a way to get out of here and then we'll meet up again.'
In the duel underground, Roxas was waiting in the back as Gogo parked her runner and walked in.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Gogo asks.
"Uh Gogo this is Roxas, he wants to try and battle the underground." Tifa said.
"Oh really?" Gogo said examining him and noticed his runner. "A security runner? Well, I'll admit never met a guy brave enough or stupid enough to make off with one of those."
"Thanks, I think." Roxas said.
"Since you're new here let me explain how this works. I run things down here, how do I do that? By being the fastest, toughest turbo duelist down here. We're not like those duelists up at the Kaiba Dome, things get ugly and messy down here. Still want to duel?" Gogo asks.
"Yes I do. I need to find my friend Yusei and I need help to navigate this place." Roxas nods determined.
"Well here's how that works. To get the help you need to beat me and if you want to beat me you need to beat two others of our best underground duelists. You beat them both and I'll take you on, but if you lose even once you're done." Gogo said.
"That's it? As I have to start over again to challenge you?" Roxas asks hopeful.
"No I mean you're done as in done-done. You get out and don't come back." Gogo said pointing to the door.
"Wow, you guys don't pull any punches do you?" Roxas cringed.
"Like I said, we're not like those fancy duels up there. Your first match is an hour against Raptor, if you don't show up it's a forfeit." Gogo said walking out.
Turning around Roxas looks to Tifa and Jessie with a nervous look.
"Okay, I'm starting to worry if I made the right call with this." Roxas said.
"That's just nerves talking Roxas. You can do this." Tifa assures.
"Yeah I mean you managed to beat Tifa and she's super tough." Jessie said.
"I guess." Roxas said.
"Look we have an hour to get you ready for your duel. Let's make sure you're ready for this." Tifa said.
"Thanks a lot girls. I don't know how I could ever thank you." Roxas said.
"Well I don't know about me but I bet Tifa would like a kiss." Jessie teases.
"Shut up." Tifa said blushing.
"I didn't hear you say no." Jessie smirks.
"Jessie!" Tifa snaps.
"Girls, we're dealing with my situation right now." Roxas reminds.
"This isn't over." Tifa said pointing at Jessie.
"Talk later, Roxas needs us." Jessie said walking over to him.
An hour later, the stands of the underground arena were packed as fans watched with eagerness and anticipation.
In her booth, Gogo sat down to watch as the MC walked out.
"Alright folks, let's get this Turbo duel underway! Coming out first, we have the Duelist whose moves are as fierce and dangerous as the dinosaurs he uses, you know him you love him Raptor!" The MC declares as a red duel runner with a t-rex head raced out causing the crowd to cheer.
"And his opponent, a new guy who thinks he has what it takes to take on our champ, Roxas!" The MC said as Roxas put on his helmet and raced out.
In the stands, Tifa and Jessie were the only ones cheering for him.
As Roxas and Raptor arrived at the starting line, Raptor looks at him and smirks.
"Get ready newbie, because I'm gonna chew you up and spit you out." Raptor said.
"We'll see who chews who." Roxas said revving his engine.
"Speed World activated. Autopilot standing by." Around them Speed World activates.
"Duel!" Roxas and Raptor said as they raced through the arena.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 0
Raptor: 4000 SC: 0
"I'll go first." Roxas said drawing. "I summon Secret Six Samurai Fuma in defense mode!" Roxas said as a purple samurai appeared.
Secret Six Samurai Fuma: 200/ 1800
"And I'll place one card facedown ending my turn."
Roxas: 4000 SC: 1
Raptor: 4000 SC: 1
"Rookie move." Raptor drew. "I'll start this off by with Giant Rex!" Appearing on the field was a large t-rex monster.
Giant Rex: 2000/ 1200
"Now crush that monster!" Charging in Giant Rex chomps down on the Samurai destroying it.
"Since you destroyed my Samurai I can summon another Six Samurai monster from my deck. Like my Six Samurai Kizan!" Roxas said summoning a yellow and black samurai.
Legendary Six Samurai: 1800/ 500
"I'll place two cards facedown and end my turn." Raptor said as two cards appeared.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 2
Raptor: 4000 SC: 2
"My turn." Roxas drew. "I summon Six Samurai Yaichi!" Roxas said as the bowed Samurai appeared.
Six Samurai Yaichi: 1300/ 800
"And now I special summon Grandmaster of the Six Samurai!" Roxas said summoning the elderly samurai.
Grandmaster: 2100/ 800
"I don't think so! Go Bottomless Trap Hole! Since you summoned a monster with over 1500 attack points my trap removes your monster from the game!" Raptor said as Roxas' grandmaster disappeared.
"Either way since I have 2 or more Samurais on the field my Kizan gains 300 attack and defense points." Roxas growls.
Kizan: 2100/ 800
"Slay that Giant Rex!" Roxas said as Kizan leaps in and slashes Giant Rex destroying it. "And now you're wide open to my Yaichi!" Roxas said as Yaichi fires an arrow piercing him.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 2
Raptor: 2600 SC: 1
"Yes! Way to take the lead Roxas!" Jessie cheers.
"This guy's got nothing on you!" Tifa cheers.
"Hmm not bad, but this duel is far from over." Gogo said.
"My turn." Raptor drew.
Roxas: 4000 SC: 3
Raptor: 2600 SC: 2
"My move." I special summon Gilasaurus to the field in attack mode!"
Racing onto the field a raptor appears.
Gilasaurus: 1400/ 400
"Now I summon Jurrac Protops!" Raptor said as a large flaming dinosaur appeared. "And he gains 100 attack points for every monster you got."
Jurrac Protops: 1900/1200
"And now I'll activate my facedown Strike Slash!" Which lets me increase my Protops attack points by 700 until the end of my turn!"
Jurrac Protops: 2600/ 1200
"Uh oh." Roxas gulps not liking this.
"Now Gilasaurs attack Yaichi!" Charging in Gilasaurus rams into his Samurai destroying it. "My Monster may lose 100 points but your monster losses even more now that it's alone. Protops destroy Kizan!"
Jurra Protops: 2500/ 1200
Kizan: 1800/ 500
Bursting into flames, Jurra Protops destroys Kizan.
Roxas: 3200 SC: 3
Raptor: 2600 SC: 2
"Man I'm lucky I never fought any of these things as Heartless." Roxas mutters drawing.
Roxas: 3200 SC: 4
Raptor: 2600 SC: 3
"I summon Legendary Six Samurai Kageki in attack mode!" Roxas said as the four armed Samurai appeared. "And thanks to his ability I can summon my Six Samurai Zanji to the field as well!"
Six Samurai: Kageki: 1700/ 2000
Six Samurai: Zanji: 1800/ 1200
"Kageki attack his Gilasaurus with four arm slash!" Roxas said as Kageki slashes Gilasaurs to pieces.
Roxas: 3200 SC: 4
Raptor: 2300 SC: 3
"Zanji attack his Protops!" Roxas said as his Samurai charged in.
"Sorry but your Samurai is way too weak to destroy my monster." Raptor said as Protops knocked Zanji back.
Roxas: 3100 SC: 4
Raptor: 2300 SC: 3
"Maybe but when I have another Samurai monster on my field and Zanji attacks that monster is destroyed and as a bonus I can sacrifice Kageki to keep Zanji on the field.
Grabbing Kageki by the arm, Zanji threw him towards Protops destroying both monsters.
"Clever trick. He used his weaker monster to help the stronger one survive." Gogo said.
Roxas: 3100 SC: 5
Raptor: 2300 SC: 4
"My turn." Raptor drew. "I activate the Speed Spell Summon Speeder! When I have two or more speed counters I can summon a monster from my hand! Like my Jurrac Monoloph!" Appearing on the field was a little flaming dinosaur.
Jurrac Monoloph: 1500/ 1200
"And now I summon the tuner monster Jurrac Velo!" Appearing next to his monster was a flaming raptor
Jurrac Velo: 1700/ 1000
"Now I tune my level 4 Jurrac Velo with my Level 3 Jurrac Monoloph in order to synchro summon one of the fiercest dinos to ever exist! I Synchro Summon Jurrac Giganto!" Appearing on the field was a large flaming t-rex.
Jurrac Giganto: 2100/ 1800
"And thanks to his special ability he gains 200 attack for each Jurrac monster in my graveyard and I have 3!" Raptor said as Giganto glowed bright.
Jurrac Giganto: 2700
"Now crush his Zanji!" Breathing a stream of fire it destroys Zanji.
Roxas: 2200 SC: 5
Raptor: 2300 SC: 4
"And I'll end my turn with one card facedown." Raptor said.
Roxas: 2200 SC: 6
Raptor: 2300 SC: 5
"My turn." Roxas drew and looked at the card he drew surprised. "Hmm he might help later. I summon Six Samurai Kamon in defense mode." Appearing on his field the red armor samurai took a knee.
Kamon: 1500/ 1000
"And with that I end my turn." Roxas said.
Roxas: 2200 SC: 7
Raptor: 2300 SC: 6
"That wasn't really much of a move." Jessie cringed.
"I guess Roxas didn't draw the card he wanted." Tifa gulps.
"I summon Jurrac Iguanon!" Raptor said as a flaming green dino appeared.
Jurrac Iguanon: 1700/ 700
"Attack his Kamon with tail swipe!" Swinging its tail Iguanon destroys Kamon. "And thanks to my monster's ability I send your only facedown back to your hand leaving you wide open!" Raptor declares as Roxas' facedown went back to his hand. "Now Jurrac Giganto attack him directly and end this duel!"
"I activate Rainbow Kuriboh's special ability! When I'm targeted by a direct attack I can equip him to your monster stopping it from attacking!" Roxas said summoning the rainbow furball who flew in and attached itself to Giganto creating a rainbow barrier around it stopping the monster in its tracks.
"What?! Stopped by a little furball?!" Raptor gasps.
"I'm not done yet." Roxas smriks. "Thanks Kuriboh."
Looking at the little monster Roxas sees Rainbow Kuriboh wink at him for a second surprising him.
"Oh man that was way too close." Tifa said relived.
"I'll say. Guess he got a decent draw after all." Jessie admits.
"Fine then, since I can't attack you I'll use this, go Speed Spell Sonic Buster! Let's see you take this one!" Breathing a fireball, it blasts Roxas with half Jurrac Giganto's attack. "Your move."
Roxas: 850 SC: 8
Raptor: 2200 SC: 7
"Uh looks like the challenger is on his last leg, if he can't pull off a win next turn he's dino chow." The MC said as everyone was eager to see Roxas get crushed.
Growling Roxas races to catch up with Raptor.
'I can't lose now. I need to win.' Roxas said determined.
Little did Roxas know in another part of the city, something was going on in a lab.
On screen a small signal went off where Roxas was getting someone's attention.
"Hmm what's this?" Walking in a man with wild brown hair and glasses walk in. This was Zigzix.
Sitting down he looks to see the signal and narrowed his eyes.
"Wait a minute, this duel energy…it's small but it bares a resemblance to the energy when Yusei dueled Jack." Zigzix said suspicious. "What does this mean?"
Back in the duel arena, Roxas had finally caught up with Raptor.
"Well newbie, you want to beat me you better come up with a comeback." Gogo said.
"My turn." Roxas drew and when he saw his card he grinned. "I summon Secret Six Samurai Genba!" Appearing on the field, a warrior with dynamite all over him appeared.
Secret Six Samurai Genba: 500/ 2100
"And when he's summoned I can bring back a monster that was removed from the game, like my Grandmaster." Roxas said adding him to his hand. "And here he is, ready for some payback!"
Grandmaster: 2100/ 800
"And now I tune my level 2 Genba with my level 5 Grandmaster in order to Synchro Summon a warrior will put your dinos back on the extinction list! I Synchro Summon Lightning Warrior!" Roxas said as lightning shot down from above and everyone looked to see a fierce warrior with wild blonde hair and white armor appeared.
Lightning Warrior: 2400/ 1200
"Now that's a monster." Tifa said impressed.
"Not bad but he's nowhere near strong enough to beat my monster." Raptor said.
"Wrong because I have one card that can help. The same one you sent back to my hand." Roxas said turning it around revealing a Speed Spell causing Raptor to gasp.
"Not that card!" Raptor said.
"I activate Speed Energy! Which gives my monster 200 attack points for each Speed Counter I have and I have 8!" Roxas said as Lighting Warrior glowed.
Lightning Warrior: 4000
"Attack Jurrac Giganto with Lighting Fist!" Roxas said as Lighting Warrior flew in and punched Jurrac Giganto in the face destroying it.
Roxas: 850
Raptor: 900
"Cute move, but on my next turn I'll get you back." Raptor said when Roxas pulls up alongside him.
"There's not gonna be a next turn. When my Lighting Warrior destroys a monster you take 300 points of damage for each card in your hand." Roxas said pointing to his hand to show 3 cards.
"Wait that means!" Raptor realized.
"You lose!" Roxas said as Lighting Warrior dives down and punches Raptor.
Roxas: 850
Raptor: 0000
"And the winner of the match is the challenger Roxas!" The MC said as everyone cheered.
"He did it!" Tifa said standing up cheering.
"What a comeback!" Jessie cheers joining her.
As Roxas came to a stop he took off his helmet and smiles.
"One down." Roxas said.
Looking to Gogo, she smiles softly impressed.
"Hmm not bad, maybe I'll have a challenge after all." Gogo said.
"Assuming he gets past me." A male voice said.
Turning around, Gogo saw a man with short black hair, a dark blue and purple suit and a determined look on his face.
"Well Damon, what do you think?" Gogo asks.
"I think this is going to be too easy. I'll shut him down and his pathetic moves." Damon said walking out.
"We'll see won't we. Raptor was tricky but you'll need real skill to beat Damon, Roxas." Gogo said interested in how he was gonna pull this one off.
Meanwhile, in the upper area of Neo Domino City, a man with long grey hair that went down his lower back was looking out the window, he wore a dark grey suit and pants, over a collared shirt that featured the Condor geoglyph emblazoned on it. This was Rex Goodwin.
After Yusei's duel with Jack, Goodwin needless to say had a lot on his mind.
Suddenly his phone started to ring getting his attention.
"Yes? What is it?" Goodwin asks answering it.
"Director Goodwin, I'm sorry to bother you but I have something you need to know." Zigzix said on the other line.
"What is it now? I'm busy." Goodwin asks.
"Sir earlier today I detected a small burst in energy in the city. It had the same frequency as the energy we found when Jack dueled that Yusei fellow." Zigzix said getting Goodwin's attention.
"Where was this energy?" Goodwin asks.
"It came from the lower levels of the city, the Dueling Underground area to be more specific." Zigzax said.
"Hmm keep an eye on that area. If it's dumb luck we ignore it but if it grows stronger report back to me immediately." Goodwin orders.
"Of course sir." Zigzix said hanging up.
"It appears there might be a new piece entering this game." Goodwin said interested in where this was going.
