It was everything anyone could do to keep Jaken from bursting into her hut every five minutes it seemed. He was beside himself with grief and worry over Sesshomarus state, not that Kagome could necessarily blame him.
"Rin, did you ever see him like this?" Kagome asked as the two women sat outside enjoying the last few warm nights of the season.
The younger woman tapped a finger to her chin in contemplation. "Oh, yes. When Lord Sesshomaru acquired Bakusaiga he was in terrible condition."
"I see."
"He was injured but it was more that, he was drained, it had drained his energy. This time..." Rin turned her head towards the bamboo curtain of the hut.
"I know. He's hurt, badly." Kagome said feeling her heart ache tremendously. It had been nearly a week and while he did heal mostly from his injuries the worst of them took time.
"You mortals underestimate my Lords abilities." Jaken approached. "Once he is through with his hibernation due to his injuries this village will be nothing more than a distant memory."
"You do know he still visits Rin, right?" Kagome interjected. "Like, seriously...where have you been?"
"Master Jaken was sent away from Lord Sesshomaru's side for being, how did he put it, oh...a constant nagging thorn in his side." Rin explained exhuberantly. "He said that if he didn't leave him alone then he definitely would have killed him."
"Quiet Rin! No one asked you!" He shouted.
"Don't be cross with me Master Jaken, it's not my fault you're annoying. You've always been that way."
"I see the humans did little to teach you in manners!" He spewed.
"I'm going to go check on Sesshomaru." Kagome said standing and smirking. "Alone."
"Let's play a game Master Jaken, like when I was little." Rin said as Kagome entered her home. The audible groan from Jaken was enough to almost make her feel bad for him.
Kagome toed off her sandals and knelt down behind the makeshift privacy screen she had strung up to allow Sesshomaru some decency.
She took his hand in hers and placed it in her lap. Her hand went to his forehead placing her palm flat against his skin. At least he wasn't feeling feverish any more.
Her eyes moved to his mouth, those burns. Kagome felt her stomach twist. It was because of her that he had been burnt. The spiritual energy from her arrow had not only decimated the Akuma but also had nearly purified Sesshomaru into oblivion.
"I am so sorry." She ran her hand down to cup his cheek. She leaned down placing a soft kiss against his forehead and nuzzled against his hair, similarly to how he did. "I know that you're tired but I'd like it if you woke up."
Kagome pushed aside the blanket he was covered in and laid down next to him. She wrapped an arm around his bare chest and snuggled against him wrapping his arm around her.
