Miko and Monk
Chapter 5
Miroku came out of the bathroom feeling refreshed and clean. He knocked on Kagome's door but it was already partly open. "Lady Kagome. I'm coming in" he stepped into her bedroom. He saw Kagome sitting by the window looking outside with the breeze blowing thru hair. The sun shining on her face.
She turned to look at him "Oh hey Miroku. You look good with my papa clothes. It fits you! We can go shopping tomorrow for some other necessities." Kagome got up from the window and walked towards the door. "You can hang out here while I go shower. Can you help me bandage up this wound when I'm done?"
Miroku looking at the bookshelf. "Yeah sure." without looking at her.
Kagome smiled and went to take her shower. She returned about 30 minutes later with hair wrapped up in a towel, wearing a pair of pink shorts and matching tank top. "I'm back, Miroku. I have the first aid kit. Let's get this done. It started to bleed again." She walked into her room and found that he was laying down on her bed, he was fast asleep with an old Japanese Poetry book next to him. She noticed it was opened to "Oku no Hosomischi" (translates to 'the narrow road to the deep north') by Matsuo Basho** (**poet from the Edo period). 'He found one of my favorite stories that I love reading. It's set in Edo time and traveling. Just like where we were not too long ago. He must be tired but I need to wake him up to eat and meet grandpa and Souta.' Kagome put down the first aid and sat next to Miroku on the bed. She looked at his innocent sleeping face. 'I never noticed he has long eyelashes. His lips look soft. I never got up close to his face. He is quite handsome.' Kagome gently touched his face. She brushed her fingers across his cheeks lightly. Just then Miroku's eyes shot wide open, startling Kagome that she fell off the bed.
"What were you doing Lady Kagome" Miroku looked over the bed to see her on the floor with her hair wildly scattered about from the towel falling off.
"Umm nothing. Just checking if you were alive." she got up and went to her vanity to brush her hair out.
Miroku was watching her thru the mirror as she sat brushing her hair. "I didn't realize your hair is long. You always have it tied up so I never noticed." sitting up on the bed.
"Yeah it is long. It's a pain to deal with sometimes but I love it. I usually wear it down when I'm home." Kagome finished brushing her hair and turned to Miroku who was still looking at her. "Can you help me bandage up my arm?" she pointed to the first aid kit.
"It looks like I am taking care of you instead of the other way around" he picked up the first aid kit and opened it. He started to clean it up, put some medicine on it and bandaged it up in no time. They sat in silence as she was being treated. Kagome still felt a little embarrassed by touching Moruku's face.
"You're done."
"Thank you Miroku. I still can't remember how I got this cut. I hope I can remember soon. I don't like feeling this way."
Kagome got up, made her way to the door and held out her hand "Let's go downstairs. Dinner should be ready soon. Grandpa and Souta should be home anytime now. I am warning you that Souta gets excited with new people around. Don't let him overwhelm you. Grandpa is the shrine's priest so he will talk your head off once he knows you're a monk."
Miroku stood up, happily took her hand as they made their way downstairs.
