*beep... beep... beep*

It was a constant sound Korra kept hearing, it was distant but not far enough for her to ignore it. Her body felt numb, she couldn't describe the state she was in but she knew it felt cold and numb. She slowly opened her eyes, an tattered cover tent showed above her a sunlight peeked through. She couldn't tell where she was at but she knew she was on her back and felt bound. She started having flashbacks of what happened trying to piece together what led her hear. The sound of guns played in her head, tires screeching, and her body jumping. "I was shot!" She thought to herself. She quickly tried to move but she couldn't move much without her body wincing. She felt bodies rush to her side.

"Korra, Korra you need to calm down." A nurse said.

"Where is Mako and Bolin?'' she demanded." She tried to sit up and look around but she couldn't find them.

"We'll… they've been sent back home." They replied.

"In a coffin?" She questioned.

"No, no they are both alright, they were shot also but not as bad as you. Korra... you were shot 7 times. It's a miracle that you are here." The nurse said. Korra started to feel a pang in her head. She laid her head back down as she covered her forearm over her eyes.

"How bad am I?"

"Well luckily they missed severe areas so you will be able to walk in due time. But you lost a lot of blood. That may be why your head is hurting."

"How long have the boys been gone?" She asked

"Almost a week now."

"A week?!" She said, trying to lean back up.

"Korra please!" Korra laid back down. "Any quick movements may open back up your wounds."

"How long have I been out and did they say anything before they left." She asked, saddened.

"You've been out for two weeks. You've been in and out of consciousness and they left an address and number for you if you ever came too. It's been touch and go with you Korra. You almost died twice. You will be on a plane in the next two days back to Republic City." The nurse finished. She handed Korra the paper with their addresses and phone number. She clutched it as she laid back down and fell back to sleep.

Asami for the last 3 weeks tried to keep herself occupied. She was a bit worried about Korra but she knew her lover was strong. "I don't think she would just stop talking to me again like that. I know she said she met some friends." She thought to herself. But something wasn't adding up. She would send a prayer to the spirits every night for a sign that her lover was okay but alas, nothing. She sat in her office pondering the possibilities but nothing could calm her mind. She even started working 80 hour work weeks just to keep her mind relaxed, but nothing helped. She would drink herself to a stupor just to calm her anxious mind, but nothing. It was a Friday and usually she would go to a bar with Opal but she wasn't feeling it today. Her gut was telling her something and it wasn't good. Opal came and knocked on her office door, pulling her away from her thoughts. "Come in." She turned her attention to the door and opal popped her head in before stepping in. She closed the door behind her and sat down at Asami's desk.

"How are you feeling Asami?" Opal asked with soft eyes she knew her boss had been going through it lately but she wanted to take her mind off it.

"I've been better, obviously." Asami sort of snapped. It wasn't out of anger, just worriness. "Shit, I- I'm sorry Opal. I'm just scared." She touched her hand to her forehead and shook her head. Her eyes began to water a little. "Ya know I just haven't felt this before so I know something went wrong" Asami said touching her heart. Opal got up and gave her boss/friend a hug.

"It's gonna be okay babe. I know it will." After a few moments Opal let go and they both sat back down.

"I know you already told me no, but please go to the bar tonight getting out may get your mind off it, and I met some people who seem really cool and that'll help clear your mind!" Opal tried being optimistic.

"I-" Asami took a sigh before trying to turn down the invite but Opal cut her off.

"Okay one drink? Pleaseee I can't bear to think about you being huddled up in your house alone right now." Opal put on her puppy dogs and clasped her hands together. With one final sigh Asami gave in.

"Fine whatever." Asami rolled her eyes and Opal squealed.

"Okay we're meeting at 6!" Opal said running out the office.

One week earlier…

Mako and Bolin watched over Korra as if she was one of their siblings. It's been about a week since they were almost killed and Bolin and Mako haven't stopped visiting her since. She'd wake and fall unconscious and sometimes she would hold small conversations but the doubt she'd remember. Even though they were discharged within a few days they stayed in the medical tent just to keep an eye on her. Mako got shot in the arm and leg but he was able to move around fine. Bolin got shot in the neck and arm but luckily the bullet just grazed his neck. Luckily all three of them survived but today was the last day they were able to watch over Korra they were discharged and sent back to Republic city for the time being. Mako held Bolin as he cried, while trying to hold his own tears back. Anything could happen after they left but they had to keep prayers for her return.

Mako was packing his bag when he caught the eye of Bolin going over the Korra bed. "Bo?" He questions as he starts going through her stuff.

"Letter girl." Bolin responded. He found one of the letters from Asami tucked under her bed. "She has the right to know. Her address is on this envelope. We gotta find her." He said with determination in his eyes. He tucked it in his bag and finished packing. Mako nodded and went back to packing. They left in the morning.

"Before we leave I'm gonna leave our number and address with Korra when she wakes. We'll be at the airport when she comes home." Mako said getting a piece of paper.

The next morning came quickly. Before the boys boarded the plane they left the note for Korra with one of the nurses. They did their final check over of her and got on the plane. The trip to Republic city felt far and like a distant world. Being gone for a year and a half changed them more than they could imagine.

Korra was finally able to sit up and move a little without much pain. She still winced a little but nothing compared to when she first woke. She called her nurse over and asked her to see one of the satellite phones. She quickly dialed the boy's number as she eagerly awaited their voice.

"Korra!" She could hear Bolin yell over the phone. "Wait it's Korra!?" She could hear Mako questioning in the back.

"Yeah guys it's me." She said happy to hear their voices. She could hear Bolin's voice starting to falter but he cleared his throat.

"We're so glad you're okay." Mako said. "How are you feeling when will you be able to come home?" He asked exasperated.

"Well I think I'll be home in a few days. I feel like Swiss cheese honestly. I really don't remember much." Korra said, holding her head.

"Yeah we were like that too, they really did a number on us." Bolin said over the phone. Korra went quiet, she started to think about Asami and she started feeling bad that it was not her first thought.

"We tried finding letter girl…" Mako started, seemingly reading her mind.

"But I kind of washed the letter in my pants, and we lost her address. Do you know it by heart?." Bolin said, ashamed.

"Nah I don't Bo...but it's okay i'll try and call her and don't you guys worry about it. I'm just glad you all are safe. You got any plans tonight?" She asked, trying to change the subject.

"Yeah, we do! I met this super pretty girl a week ago and we're going out to the bar tonight! She's bringing a friend!" Bolin said excitedly. Korra was half happy and half sad. She felt like she got left behind but she didn't wanna show it over the phone.

"I'm glad for you guys! Hopefully she's good-looking for you Mako." Korra said laughing.

"Yeah we're actually about to meet in few so we gotta go but call us tomorrow okay!" The phone clicked and the line went dead. Korra let a tear drop but she was just happy she was alive. She dialed Asami's number but the line just wouldn't pull through. She tried a few more times but nothing. She dropped the phone and laid down. Tears streamed the side of her face. Her commander came in and sat next to her bedside.

"Korra, you leave in two days. The doctors said you are fine enough to travel now but they don't want you walking until you get home and go to therapy. You'll be using a wheelchair for right now. Would you like to stay here or go back to your bunk?"

"I can go back to my bunk, I need to start packing." She said. She lifted up and scotted over to try and land in the wheelchair. She rolled herself to the barracks.

Asami walked into the bar and spotted the back of Opals head. She tapped her shoulder and Opal turned around giving her a hug. "You made it! Thank the spirits."

Asami half smiled and sat down to order a drink. "So where are your friends?" She asked looking around.

"Oh they're running a few minutes late, oh wait there they are!" Opal ran over to them to show them where she was sitting. They walked over to Asami and she put on a fake smile.

"Hey how are you guys?" Asami said, greeting them.

"We are good, how are you today." One said sitting down.

"Good, good!" The other said excitedly. Once they all were seated they ordered drinks. It was an awkward silence for a moment.

"So where do you guys work?" Asami asked, breaking the silence "Wait, I'm sorry, what are you guys' names?"

"Oh I'm Mako and this is Bolin." He said pointing to the green eyed boy. "And we just got back from tour last week. But we work on the Republic City base."

"Ahh military men, nice to meet you both. I'm Asami." Bolin dropped his cup, almost breaking it.

"OH SHIT YOU'RE LETTER GIRL. WE'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU. I had washed your letter and lost your address and and…" Mako stopped Bolin and tried to calm him. He could see how puzzled Asami was looking.

"You don't know who we are do you?" Mako asked.

"No but I assume you know who I am?" Asami asked back.

"Does the name Brother Boyz ring a bell?" Mako asked. Asami's eyes widened as she started to tear up.

"Do-do you know Korra?" She questioned

"Yes and-"

"Please tell me she's alright?" Asami demanded as she started shaking. It's been 3 weeks since she last heard from her. Everything possible ran through her mind.

"Yes she is alright, but she- well, all of us were shot several times. She was shot worse than us."

"My spirits." Asami let out and her heart dropped.

"But she is alright. We talked with her before we came, that's why we were late!" Bolin said, trying to cheer Asami up. Her head popped up.

"How bad was it?" Asami asked.

"Well we were caught by surprise, we got bone rushed by three enemies. Korra was in front and got shot 7 times. She was out for about two weeks after us. We didn't know if she was gonna make it until today." Mako said. "She said she would be home in two days we were gonna go but now that we found you, you should go!" Mako finished.

Asami felt saddened from not getting a call herself from Korra. She was just happy she was alive. "I wonder why she didn't call me." Assmi asked out loud to herself.

"She may have, sometimes the line won't even go through. You were always on her mind Asami don't worry. She pulled through because of you. You saved her." Mako reassured her.

"Thank you." She told them her gut was right but she was glad her lover was safe. Two days and she was home.

Those two days felt like a week but finally she was in the airport and Korra could be here any moment. The brother boys also came with gifts for her. They waited for over an hour before they saw the plane pull into the gate.

Korra felt the plane come to a stop and the Captain come over the intercom to announce their arrival. She was nervous, Asami's number kept failing to dial. She wanted to know what was going on but she was somewhat nervous. She was bound to a wheelchair and her body was torn. Her pride and spirit felt like they were torn too. She rolled out the plane and up the long terminal. The boys told her they would pick her up but all she wanted was to hurry and find Asami. She broke into the airport and it was very loud. She started to get a little irritated from the sound and couldn't move. She heard quick footsteps running toward her and her name being called out. It sounded like Bolin but she couldn't see him. She just wanted it to all stop so she shut her eyes closed and clamped her hands over her ears. Then there it was. That sweet perfume. She'd only smelled it once but she knew it by heart. Her mind started to ease as her hands fell from her ears. She opened her eyes and then met jade ones. Korra couldn't feel the tears running down her face but she knew they were there. She felt herself being wrapped in long arms and she just laid her head there.

"It's going to be okay soldier girl." Assmi said as she held onto her for dear life.

"I'm home." Korra said as she let loose her cry. The boys surrounded her and hugged her. She smiled at them.

"Brother boyz." She said to them as she did their signature hand shake with them. At the end of it, they always kissed their dog tags.

"You ready to go home?" Asami asked, leaning down by her ear. She took hold of the wheelchair handles and looked at Korra.

"I- I tried to call but the line-" Korra was cut off but Asami's kiss.

"No need to explain you're home now." Asami said, calming her. Korra leaned her head back and let one more tear fall.

"Im home…"

Please R and R. Let me know if you guys want a home chapter to see how Korra's doing. As for right now this is the last chapter!
