Chapter 5: Hera's wish was sadly unfulfilled.

Taking care of a baby was certainly hard, something that Hestia sometimes pondered over as she was making her way to Athena's palace. Sure, she got some tips and a little bit of help primarily from Hera, Demeter and surprisingly Poseidon, when it came to Perseus. Her own mother, Rhea, was also a massive help during the early months when she came down sometimes to see how things were going during her monthly visits to Olympus. Being the titan of Motherhood certainly helped, even though she herself never really got to raise any of her kids at all. Her first five kids were at one point in her now dead husband's stomach and Zeus was primarily raised by the nymphs and Amaltheia, the latter being skinned by Zeus for his shield, the Aegis. She really had a lovely younger brother.

Raised voices were soon heard as Hestia approached the doorway and she wondered what the problem was. Athena and Perseus usually got along splendidly so this was something new. Hestia knocked on the door and moments later, Athena appeared on the doorway.

"Oh thank you so much Hestia for coming here, now if you don't mind, can you please get your son out of my sight."

"I should be the one telling my mother that, cause I definitely don't want to see you anymore, worm breath."

"Perseus! That is no way for a child like you, to talk to your elders like that." Hestia said to the five year old. "And why…worm breath?"

"Because her symbol is a bird. And birds eat worms." Perseus said, grinning.

Hestia just shook her head. "No name calling Perseus, you know that right. Now, why don't we go inside and talk about why you two are even arguing in the first place."

Athena cleared her throat as she began to speak. "First of all, your son forgot to learn his Greek today."

Hestia turned towards her son. "Perseus! I thought you said you will do it when you were in Hades's palace yesterday."

"I know and I did…a bit. But then Uncle Hades showed me this really good trick he found in a book for my shadow powers and I just had to learn it."

"Which of course comes to my second point. Your son made half my library disappear because of his new trick and neither one of us even knows where it is. My collection of survival books and weapon making are all gone, they were even handmade by me personally. And it's all your fault!" she said, shooting the young godling a very accusatory glance.

"I said sorry! And I might be able to get them back, I think…" Perseus said, mumbling the last part.

"Well at least you apologized and didn't try to deny it. and I am so sorry niece, I honestly don't know how to make it up to you." Hestia said guiltily.

"Honestly, you really can't unless you, Perseus." Athena said, with a predatory smile. "would like to take up the challenge of writing my books?"

Perseus just blinked once before scrambling up from where he was sitting. "In the name of hell below, no! I wont even go and fetch them if those books even turn out to be there! And I thought you were nice."

"I am nice, but not to people who throw away my books so seamlessly."

"It was an accident! I said sorry!"

Hestia watched their interaction with a small smile. "Well I thought about it, but this does definitely seem to make you two look like an older sister arguing with her younger brother, does it not?"

The two immortals stopped arguing as they stared at Hestia with an incredulous look on their faces.

"Athena my sister?! Ill rather have Ares as a sibling, not bird brain over here."

"Ares literally gave you a bloody nose yesterday as a parting gift after your training!"

"Well he doesn't wack my knuckles with a stick when I get my pronounciations wrong!"

WACK!

"OW, what was that for?!"

"You pronounced pro-nun-ci-a-tion wrong."

"You…"

Perseus had a look of concentration on his face, when a misshapen hand popped up from a nearby shadow. It went on to grab the stick in Athena's hands but she had an iron grip on it as she held on it. Suddenly, Perseus's eyes glowed purple and the hand turned into somewhat of a shadowy tornado which sucked in a now screaming Athena into it. The tornado then receded back to where it came from, with no sign of the wisdom goddess anywhere.

Hestia was, no doubt speechless at what she just witnessed. She looked at Perseus, who was also looking at her and had a look of shock and fear on his face.

"I didn't mean it mom, I swear. Please you have to believe me, I-I don't kn-know how."

"Calm down honey, take a deep breath, deep breaths sweetheart, like how we practiced when you had that nightmare one time? Just like that do what I'm doing." Hestia instructed her son, wiping his tears.

"Okay now tell me, has this happened before? You loosing control of that…thing? Hestia asked.

"N-no, I could do it properly back in uncle Hades's place, you can ask him he was there! But when I tried to show it to A-Athena." His voice quivered when he said her name. "It didn't work like last time, hence the missing books. And now Athena is missing and I-I don't , I-."

"Shush, we will find her, and Athena can take care of herself so you don't have to worry really." said Hestia.

"Yep, I can take care of myself."

The two immortals turned their heads to the source of the voice and saw it was Athena herself. Perseus immediately removed himself from his mothers grasp and launched at her.

"Athena! I'm so, so sorry. I- I'll write all your missing books by hand if it means that you would not be angry at me." Perseus cried.

"Heh, don't worry, I was mostly jesting about my books. Truth to be told, I can always create new ones. And I know that you are wondering where I turned up, aunt Hestia. I was right outside my father and Hera's bedroom. Good thing I was outside seeing that they were inside you know." she said, chuckling. "Though they were having quite the shouting match, couldn't really understand anything."

"Well I'm glad you were ultimately safe, and it's a good thing you didn't catch their conversation, privacy and all. Now, what do you say, my little trouble maker, want to see the city of Athens inaugurate the temple of their patrn goddess? Will you be there Athena?

"Of course, but only in the sidelines."

"I still think uncle Poseidon should have won the horses looked cool, much better than a plant."

"WHAT?! I'll have you know that olives are becoming a staple in the Greek market and other different…wait. This is all boring talk for you, isn't it.

"Hmm, kinda. I do like olives. But horses are cooler."

"Yes, horses are quite nice." Hestia said, agreeing with her son and pointedly ignoring the look on Athena's face. "Come on now, off to the throne room."

"They would be even cooler if they can fly. That would be really awesome."

It was the next day which was coincidently another monthly meeting for the Olympians. Ares was going through his weapons, wondering which one to use for Perseus's training today. Poseidon and Demeter were arguing because of the latest flood that had hit the city of Eleusis, Demeter's patron city, since some fields were destroyed which led to a heated argument joint by Athena at whether clouds came under Poseidon's jurisdiction or not. At the head of the room however, there was a certain tension between the king and queen of Olympus which while unnoticed by the others, was definitely observed by the young godling and his mother inside the room.

"Why is uncle Zees and aunt Hera mad?" Perseus asked.

"It's Zoos sweetie, though I'm really not sure why."

"Hmm, Athena said that she heard shouting yesterday, right? Maybe it has to do with that."

"Maybe…"

Zeus who didn't want to be the receiving end of Hera's heated glare, cleared his throat and addressed the gods.

"Okay, is there anything of importance to be discussed today?"

"There is actually." Demeter said. "Do clouds come under Poseidon's control or no?"

"Um…they come under my domains." Zeus answered.

"Hah! See, I told you they don't come under my control." Poseidon said.

Zeus sighed. "Anything else, that is of importance this time?"

Perseus raised his hand.

"Perseus if this is about why you are attending council meetings, then its because you should know how they work, seeing that you will be a member of the council at one point. And we discussed this plenty of times now so lower your hand." Zeus replied.

Perseus then lowered his hand.

"Yes, Ares?" Zeus then asked his son who also raised his hand.

"Uh, yeah! Should I use a longsword or a hammer on the kid today?"

"ARES! He is mentally only five years old! I forbid you from using those weapons on my son until he is old enough. Stick with a sword, please."

Ares gulped. "Yes ma'am."

Zeus just rolled his eyes. "Fine if there is absolutely nothing to discuss, then meeting adjourned."

"Oh father wait, I forgot to tell you that I'm now officially the patron goddess of a city now called Athens, named in my honor." Athena said, smirking at the glum look on Poseidon's face.

"That is amazing daughter. Now if there really is nothing else to discuss, then excuse me. I have somewhere else to be." said Zeus.

"Ohhh, meeting someone? I wonder who, my dear husband." Hera snarked, with a bit bitter tone.

Zeus was glaring at her now, due to the fact that Heras statement was heard by everyone and were now looking at the couple curiously.

"If you must know, my dear wife, I am going to be visiting the elder cyclops who have iris messaged me that they have found a way to smelt the Nexus Platinum."

Hestia was looking at the two curiously when she immediately realized what the problem was between the two.

"Oh Zeus, tell me you didn't. I actually thought you were doing great, seeing that it was fifty years since the last time."

The other gods and goddesses immediately caught on to what Hestia was implying and collective groans were soon followed.

"Great, another thunder spawn about to run around and cause havoc. How long until doomsday." Poseidon joked.

"You are one to talk Poseidon." Zeus said, gritting his teeth.

"Well, I am not doing it while married though!" he shot back.

"Enough, my life has nothing to do with you all so let me be." Zeus said with a bit of steel in his voice and disappeared through a bolt of lightning. The other immortals soon flashed away as well, but not without giving Hera sympathetic glances. Ares left with a parting message for Perseus.

"I will be waiting at the central arena at twelve kid. Don't be late."

Perseus was confused at what just happened between Zeus, Hera and Poseidon. "What was that mom?"

Hestia was definitely in a tight spot now. While she definitely wanted to tell him about the woes of infidelity, he was still quite young. But then again, he could always pester Athena for information, claiming he wanted to know because of 'knowledge' and knowing her niece, she would do it. She sighed. This was going to take a while.

"Well, you see sweetheart, Zeus did something really bad. You know how Zeus and Hera are married right? Well, he did something that one should definitely never do when one is married or courting someone."

Perseus's eyes widened. "What is that?" he asked.

"He um, he…had another baby! Yes, he had another baby, with another woman that was not his wife. Sure, there are other reasons and instances but this is the only explanation I can give you since you are way too young."

"Oh." Perseus said, a sad look on his face. "So…he hurt Aunty Hera?"

Hestia smiled sadly. "Yes sweetheart, he did."

\Perseus had a pensive look on his face till it changed to a look of resolve. "That was really mean of uncle Zeus. I will definitely not do it to whoever I will end up loving." he said. Hestia then looked with surprise as Perseus started to grow. He was now about eight years of age.

Hestia smiled at her son. "That is lovely of you to say that Perseus, some gods and goddesses should learn from you. And I and I'm sure Hera as well are really happy to hear that. Because if you don't, I will be very disappointed in you and will not make your favorite black currant pancakes ever again.

Perseus gasped. "No! not my black currant pancakes!"

Hestia laughed. "Now come, I'll drop you off to the arena. Train hard and don't let Ares give you a bloody nose this time again, alright?"

"Alright mom!" Perseus answered as they walked out of the throne room.

And that was the fifth chapter for you all. Now I know I promised that the "special someone" will show up in this chapter, but I felt that it might break the flow of the chapter, going from one thing to something different. But I promise you guys, we are definitely going to see…you-know-who (no, not mouldy-warts) in the next chapter. I already set the stones, its about time. Hope you all don't mind. Until then…\/.(I'm really sorry) T_T
