Here is chapter 5, hope you all enjoy it, also a couple of readers gave me a few ideas for this or later chapters, when and if they appear, I'll give the ones who brought the ideas up a shout out.
Chapter 5
"He tried to do WHAT?!" Jack said loudly after what he heard.
"Starscream tried to have Skyquake under his command, but he remained loyal to Megatron till the end." Optimus said to Jack after explaining his and Bumblebee's encounter with the giant seeker a few days ago.
Before they could say anything else, the alarm went off, silencing all activity as he and Optimus walked over to Ratchet.
"What is it, old friend." Optimus asked as Ratchet was typing rapidly.
"A dark energon reading on the move." Ratchet said in shock.
"Wait, but with Megatron gone, and we're not moving it, then it has to be Starscream." Jack said as Optimus looked at the screen.
"Ratchet, where is he heading?" Optimus asked, having a bad gut feeling.
"He is heading towards where… Skyquake rests." Ratchet said, finishing slowly as he began to realize what the cowardly seeker was planning.
"We better get there before he does, Skyquake may be an enemy, but even enemies don't deserve to have their grave desecrated and disturbed." Jack said as he walked away to get his beam magnum and shield that's resting next to the human area.
"Indeed." Optimus said, having hidden pride at what Jack said.
Jack lifted his gun up and checked the ammo to see it is full and has extra clips for it. He placed it on his back before he reached down and grabbed his shield and locked it into place on his left arm.
"Where are you going dad?" Sarah asked as she looked up from where she was sitting next to the couch as Raf and Miko play a racing game.
"I'm going with the others to check something out, be sure to behave for Ratchet while me and Arcee are gone alright." Jack said as he gently rubbed her head, mindful of her horn.
He heads to the groundbridge where the other bots are waiting, Ratchet starts it up, but as the bridge was powering up, Jack couldn't shake a feeling that something was going to happen.
10 MINUTES LATER
He was right.
When Jack and the bots arrived, Screamer was already bringing Skyquake back from the grave. To make matters worse, Miko ran through the bridge after them, Sarah and Raf following after her to bring her back.
Then Optimus called Ratchet for an emergency groundbridge to get the children back to base before something happened to them. As our bridge opened, another opened close by.
As they ran for it, Jack saw Screamer aiming one of his rockets at the running children, making him move in the way as he raised his shield in a hurry. As it impacted, it made him tumble backwards toward the groundbridge as the children got in, him going in as well when the two groundbridge's started reacting to each other before everyone was blinded by a white light and a massive explosion sound.
Now Jack and the children were still with the bots, but now everything was shaded grey all around them.
"What were you thinking, Miko?" Jack asked in a plain tone, the three could still hear and practically feel the anger and disappointment coming from him.
"I just wanted to see a zombie con smackdown." Miko said as she punched the air, Raf and Sarah looked at her before bringing their gaze to Jack, who stood there with his hands on his hips, beam rifle on his back.
He stared at her for a few seconds, before bringing his gaze to Sarah and Raf who shook their heads, silently saying they weren't doing the same.
"You shouldn't even done so, you could get hurt or wor-" Jack was cut off by the sound of groaning and creaking metal, making him tense while the three stare at him.
"Was that your stomach?" Miko asked while looking at Jack's stomach area, he shook his head as he looked around before seeing something moving behind him and the children.
"Hey guys, we're right he-" Sarah stopped speaking when she tried to get the bot's attention, only to have them walk right through them like they were ghosts.
"What?" Jack muttered in confusion as they turned to look at the bots as they walked.
"Ratchet, did the children and Jack make it back to base?" Optimus asked with a hidden tone of worry that Jack noticed, and he bet that Ratchet noticed too.
"No, they aren't here." They heard Ratchet reply through the comm's.
Jack lowered his gaze as he held his chin in thought, but before he could think of anything, he heard the groaning and the sound of creaking metal again, making him look around and freeze when he caught the source in his sight.
It was Skyquake, but as a zombie con, lumbering towards the autobots.
He reached down to grab the children to keep them safe, having a suspicion about something.
"Hey! What are you doing, we need to stop that con before it hurts the bots!" Miko yelled as she tried to get out of Jack's grip, but stopped when she saw the zombicon just phase through the bots like they did earlier, confirming Jack's suspicion.
"We got to go. NOW." Jack ordered as he opened his cockpit to place Raf and Miko inside while he lifts Sarah up to his shoulder, where she held on to with a vice grip.
He let Miko and Raf into the cockpit and as soon as they cleared the hatch, he shut it and he turned and took off running from the con behind them that is now lumbering after them.
Miko, who is in the pilot seat while Raf is in one of the foldable passenger seats, looked around in awe at the controls and the cockpit along with Raf.
"This is so AWESOME!" Miko yelled as she looked at all the controls before trying to move them, yet they didn't budge from the position.
"Nope, not letting you mess with anything in me, thank you." Jack said quickly while running before stopping, otherwise he would have barreled right into the back of the zombicon.
"What?" Jack muttered before he straight up spartan kicked the zombicon as hard as he could before he turned and bolted away from it before it could try to get up.
"Aww, I dont have my phone with me." Miko said as she looked at the screen in front of her.
"More important things to worry about, I'm not getting anything from base." Jack said as he stopped running about halfway, knowing that he'll just end up running into the zombicon again, so he started walking.
They were soon distracted by a ringing sound that stopped for a second before going off again, Raf pulled out his phone and saw it was Bumblebee calling him.
"Guy's, bee's calling." Raf said as he answered and talked to bee, finding out that Bee can't hear him.
"Wait, your phone got a signal, right?" Jack asked before he continued where he stopped.
"We also can't talk to them, but maybe…" Jack trailed off as he stopped when they came up one Skyquake again, but they just now noticed that Starscream's arm from the elbow down was on the ground.
"Didn't notice that before." Jack muttered to himself as he reached up to grab his rifle, Sarah shuffling to his other shoulder to get out of the way.
He brought the rifle down to aim at the zombie-con and fired a shot just as it was about to lunge. The shot connects with its arm as it was brought up to reach and try to grab Jack, enshrouding it smoke.
Jack stood silent, read to move at any movements notice.
Suddenly a clawed arm came flying out of the smoke cloud and smashed into Jack's face, making him stumble backwards as he used his free hand to grip the clawed forearm on his face to try and get it off and keep it in his grasp so it doesn't go after Sarah, who was gripping his shoulder for dear life and shaking.
"GET OFF OF ME!" Jack yelled as he tried to get the arm off, but it kept a vice grip on his face, the only reason he wasn't stumbling around anymore was because of his camera system to see, but even that was hard considering he's currently trying to keep the arm from crushing his face.
"Scrap…" Jack muttered as he put his rifle back on his back and gripped the arm and yanked off his face, it still did damage though.
A sound of metal creaking and glass cracking was heard, making Sarah look at her dad's head, only to see that he has dents shaped like a hand and his visor has multiple cracks in it.
He shook his head before he opened his cockpit while turning around, dumping Miko and Raf into his left hand and closed the cockpit door.
"You three need to get somewhere safe while I hold this thing off. No if's, and's or but's. Go, NOW." Jack ordered, wanting them to be safe before they get caught in between two titans brawling. Literally.
"No way I'm missing a zombie all out brawl!" Miko said loudly with excitement on her face before it vanished when Jack looked at her as his visor lit up even more.
"Now." Jack stated, the tone being stern, but also had hints of worry. He looked at Raf as well as he set Sarah down next to them, who picked them up in her arms and held them.
"Raf, I know you figured out the same thing I did about the phone signal. Hurry." Jack said as he stood up as they heard groaning metal behind him.
Sarah took off in the opposite direction as they looked back and saw Jack spin and gave the zombie Skyquake a massive bitch slap with his shield, sending it tumbling back and over itself.
The arm tried to crawl after the three children. Keyword 'tried'. Jack stomped on it before he reeled his leg back and held for a second, within that second the sound of a piston hit metal was heard as his leg went flying forward and kicked the arm toward the zombie-con, who just got back up, got sent tumbling again by its own arm.
Jack took a ready stance, planning to keep this thing here and away from the children.
WITH THE KIDS
"Done!" Raf exclaimed when he got done sending a text to Miko's phone explaining about their situation.
"So now we just have to wait and keep away from the zombie while dad holds it off." Sarah said while she kept a firm hold on the two, she knew Miko would try and bolt back to watch the brawl, but she wasn't going to allow it.
They soon heard the sound of crashing metal, making them look behind as they saw Jack get sent flying toward them before his jets on his back fired a few times before doing a strong burn, the first few fires were to right himself while the strong one was to slow himself.
He slid on the ground before stopping right by the children while down in a three point crouch, right hand on the ground, allowing them to see the damage all over his body.
Jack had dents, scratches, and crack all over his body, he was also heaving as well along with shaking slightly. His shield looked like it could fall apart with just one more hit, his visor was flickering dimly as well which scared the kids.
Just then a sound was heard behind them, making them look to see Screamer with an arm looking around before a groundbridge opened in front of him.
"Go." Jack heaved heavily as he turned with the children doing the same, making sure that the zombie-con doesn't get through.
Screamer was looking at the ground bridge with confusion and tension, wondering whose it was before all his thoughts stopped when he saw what looked like a smaller version of that terrifying black and gold mech come through holding two humans.
"Well well, what do we have he-" Screamer was cut off as the small black and gold one yelled.
"NOPE!" Sarah yelled right before Jack came through and smashed his right fist in Starscream's face, sending the cowardly seeker flying back a good distance as the ground bridge behind them closed.
"So what did you tell the bots Raf?" Jack asked as he lifted them up while shaking a bit and took off into the air as best he could, getting away from the area and Screamer before he could do anything.
"I said that we were stuck in some kind of shadow zone and we couldn't get out, along with being in there with a zombie skyquake." Raf informed Jack as they landed roughly, nearly falling before he steadied himself.
"Good. Can't wait to get back and rest along with repairs. NOT fun getting in a fist fight with a zombie-con, does not run out of stamina." Jack muttered as he set them down.
They waited a few moments in silence before a ground bridge opened and the bot came through with blasters ready.
"Glad you guys came, now i can leave it to you gu-" Jack couldn't finish as he passed out as his visor went dark, faintly hearing his name being called.
