The hunter, Dean Winchester, and the angel, Castiel, stood before Lucifer while he held Amanda Milligan flush against his chest. Amanda stared wide-eyed at Dean and Cas. Lucifer was tall enough that he rested his chin on the top of her head to smirk at the two men in front of him. His eyes shifted to the angel panting in pent up rage and he snickered. Cas' angel blade suddenly dropped into his hand from up his sleeve and his eyes glowed white.
"Aww... big papa bear's gotta protect his little cub!", Lucifer cooed. "Oh, don't worry, Cas. I'll be sure and take EXTRA special care of little Mandy!" Lucifer bent down and licked Amanda's face from her jaw line up to her temple. Amanda cringed away from him and both Dean and Cas lunged at him at the same time. Lucifer flung Amanda to the floor as the two men flew at him with their blades held high over there heads. With a flick of his wrist, their weapons flew out of their hands and Cas was sent soaring into the bars in the far corner of the cage. Dean manged to land a solid punch to Lucifer's jaw and his head flew to the side.
"Woo!" Lucifer shouted shrilly. "Hell of a right hook ya got there Winchester!" He chuckled and spit a mouthful of blood on the floor before standing upright again.
"Touch my sister again and I'll show ya what I got, Shithead!", Dean snarled between clenched teeth with his hands balled into tight fists. One side of Lucifer's mouth curled up into a half smile as he continued to taunt the hunter.
"Oh, I will be touching her again, Dean. So you might as well bring it on!" Lucifer beckoned Dean closer with fingers and Dean obliged, hurling himself into lucifer's middle like a charging linebacker tackling the quarterback. He slammed Lucifer into the bars and started pummeling him in the ribs before Lucifer brought his fists together and slammed them down into the back of Dean's head. Dean went down like a sack of potatoes onto his face. Lucifer reached down and grabbed Dean by the hair and and started bashing Dean's forehead into the concrete.
"NO! DEAN!", Amanda wailed, crawling toward him. She managed to grab Lucifer's arm and he backhanded her before going back to trying to cave in Dean's skull. Cas picked himself up and wobbled toward the Archangel. He grabbed Lucifer by the back of his shirt and jerked him backwards and away from Dean, who's face was covered in blood and was now unconscious.
"Leave them alone, you evil snake!", Cas growled. He stood between Lucifer and his friends using himself as a shield. Lucifer stood up straight and tall, rolling his shoulders. His eyes burned as he stalked toward the angel. Cas took a shuttering breath as he took a defensive stance. Lucifer smirked at him and tilted his head.
"Really, Castiel? I don't have to touch you to hurt you!" Lucifer flicked his wrist and Cas was, once again, sailing through the air and into the bars on the other side of the cell. Lucifer stalked after him, crouching over him. "Weak little Castiel!", Lucifer whined in mock sympathy before sucker punching Cas in the nose. "Can't fly!" PUNCH... "Can't protect the Winchesters!" PUNCH... "Can't protect sweet little Mandy!" PUNCH... Lucifer pulled Cas up so that they're noses were almost touching and hissed low so that only Castiel could hear him. "Can't defeat Auntie Amara... Not without me." On the other side of the cell, Amanda crawled back over to Dean to check on him. He lay on his stomach, his face and hair a bloody mess.
"Dean?", Amanda whispered, looking quickly at Lucifer to make sure that he hadn't heard her. He was still bent over Cas and not paying any attention to anything else at the moment. She shook his shoulder and he moaned weakly. Amanda let out a sigh of relief that he was still alive. She looked up at Sam who was still stuck to the bars several feet off the floor. "You OK, Sam?" Sam groaned, lifting his head to look at her. Blood had run from the back of his head, across his cheek, and off the tip of his nose.
"I... I'm OK, Amanda", Sam panted, wincing in pain when he moved his head. "H-how's Dean?"
"He's alive, but he's hurt really bad", Amanda whispered. Suddenly, a woman's loud voice shouted from the dark shadows outside the cell and everyone's heads turned at one time.
"Anan avar karvak!" A flash of light lit up the darkness, illuminating Rowena, kneeling in front of a bowl with Crowley standing behind her. The cell was suddenly filled with a bright yellow light that blinded them all for a few seconds before it faded. Slowly everyone's sight returned and they were all relieved to see that Lucifer was gone. The hold on Sam disappeared and he fell onto his hands and knees with a grunt. Cas wobbled to his feet, looking around in confusion. When his eyes fell on Amanda, they fixated on her. It was like he was looking down into her very soul. She looked away, suddenly feeling very uncomfortable with his piercing gaze. She tried to brush it off, chalking it up to concern for her safety.
"Cas?", Amanda whispered, looking back up at him again. He seemed to not hear her at all. "CAS!" Her shout brought him out of whatever had him frozen in place and he grunted an acknowledgement at her. "Dean's hurt bad! He needs help!"
"Oh! Yes! Of course!", Cas muttered in his gruff voice. He strode over quickly, kneeling in front of Dean, placing two fingers on his temple. A soft glow emanated from Cas' fingertips and Dean was instantly healed. Dean rolled over and sat up against the bars, looking around with wide, surprised eyes.
"What I miss?", Dean asked. "Is it over? Is he...?"
"Back in the cage, yes", Cas replied, cutting him off. A grin played around the corners of his mouth before it evaporated into his usual scowl.
"That's great and all, Cas, but I could use your magic fingers over here too", Sam groaned. He was on all fours with his head down, panting. Blood dripped off the tip of his nose from the gash on the back of his head. Cas stood up and walked over to Sam, but hesitated, staring down at Sam as he continued to bleed.
"Castiel? What's wrong?", Amanda whimpered. Cas flinched and quickly reached down to heal Sam's injury.
"Sorry, Sam", Cas grumbled. "I'm feeling a bit drained."
"It's alright, Cas", Sam murmured, looking up at the angel. "So am I. We all are." At that moment, Crowley came walking out of the dark with Rowena bringing up the rear. She had a collar around her neck that had spikes ringing the inside, pointing inward. A collar that put her under Crowley's complete control. Crowley stopped in front of the cage and raised his hand, snapping his fingers. Everyone inside the cage was instantly transported outside of it. They all heaved a collective sigh of relief. A moment later, Sam was hit hard in the chest by a small body. Amanda had her arms wrapped around Sam's middle holding on tight.
"I'm so glad you're OK, Sam!" Sam chuckled, hugging her back, gently. He smiled and looked up at Dean, who was NOT smiling. The smile suddenly left Sam's face and he cleared his throat, releasing his hold on Amanda. He knew what was coming next.
"What the Hell were you thinking, Sammy? Coming down here without telling me?!", Dean bellowed. "You nearly got yourself... no, all of us killed!" Sam was too ashamed to look at his brother so he stared down at his feet. Amanda tried to interject before things got to heated.
"Dean, don't..."
"No, Amanda", Sam cut in. "Dean's right." He looked back up at Dean and the shame of what he had done, putting them all in danger like that, was almost more than he could bear. "I'm so sorry, Dean! Everyone! I was wrong. It wasn't God that was sending me the visions. It... it was Lucifer." Sam's head dropped again and a tear rolled down his cheek. "He was using me... using me to get a ride out of Hell." He looked over at Amanda and cringed, looking away again. "A-and to get Amanda", Sam croaked, his voice thick with the sob he was holding back. Dean wanted so bad to be mad at his brother. Sam should have been smarter than this! Should have known better! But he felt so bad for the guilt he was carrying, would carry for probably the rest of his life. Dean put a hand on Sam's shoulder and Sam crumbled, bursting into quiet tears.
"It's OK, Sammy", Dean whispered, pulling Sam into a hug. "It's over now. Everybody's OK." Sam clutched onto his brother, sobbing into his flannel shirt.
"He... he used me Dean!", Sam repeated. "He said horrible things about..." Sam couldn't finish what he was going to say. He only looked over Dean's shoulder at the young woman who was standing behind Dean. She only stared back at him with frightened eyes. He flinched before lowering his head again and continuing to blubber all over his brother's shoulder. Amanda shivered at the meaning in Sam's unfinished admission and his tortured gaze. She wrapped her arms around herself as if she had suddenly caught a chill. Even though it was not a bit cold in here.
"Shh... Sammy", Dean soothed. "Lucifer's back in his hole. He can't hurt anyone ever again, OK?"
"Y-yeah... OK... S-sure", Sam stammered, wiping his runny nose on his sleeve.
"Can we please go home now?", a small voice whimpered from behind them. Everyone turned to look at Amanda and she shivered again.
"Yeah, let's get the Hell out of Hell!", Dean growled.
