Joseph paced back and forth in front of a phone in the woman's house as she laid unconscious on the couch. He had knocked her out about three hours ago and he has been trying to figure out how to call Jotaro without DIO interfering. He sighed and sat Shizuka down in the woman's arms, brushing the woman's long hair out of the way.
He scratched his beard in contemplation when a clump of brown hair fell into his palm. He blinked for a second and looked above him. Nothing.
He scratched his beard again and yet another clump came out.
Joseph gasped in horror as he realized the hair falling into his hands was his own. He sprinted into the woman's bathroom as hair fell from his face and nearly had a heart attack from what he saw.
As the final clumps of hair fell off his face, he was face to face with his younger self.
"Oh come on! I spent forever styling that!" He groaned, brushing hair off of his shirt. "At least I'm handsome now." He said, laughing a little to himself as he touched his face. Not a single wrinkle on his face remained, and his hair had grown out to the length it used to be. Now all he needed was his old scarf.
He took a teal hairbrush off of the counter and brushed his hair until it looked like how he used to wear it.
Joseph walked out of the bathroom with the brush in hand and stepped back into the living room. "Hey, Shizuka, what do you think? Not bad, eh?" He laughed, standing in front of the couch.
Shizuka looked at him in confusion and then began to cry.
Joseph panicked, picked her up, and began rocking her. "Hey, it's ok! It's me! It's Joseph!" He whispered as he rocked the baby but to no avail, his arms turned invisible and she began to panic even more. He realized she probably hadn't even noticed he looked different until he had left the room!
He walked around with the baby still panicking and turning more and more of him and their surroundings invisible, until she eventually tired herself out and fell back asleep.
He sighed. "I have to find a way. There's no getting around it." He said, turning to the clock. It was now about 11 PM. It had been about 12 hours since DIO gave his warning. He grabbed the key to her car and stepped out the door, happy he didn't have to have the ominous bloody umbrella above him anymore. He unlocked the door and stepped in, keeping Shizuka in his lap.
As he did so, Hermit Purple came back out and stabbed itself into the hole in the radio from the earlier incident. "I hope you aren't planning on going to tell someone, Joseph." DIO's voice came as he started the engine. "I'll be watching as always."
Joseph ignored him and started driving. Lucky for him, it was pitch black outside. His stomach growled incessantly.
"I bet you're starving. Lucky for you, I know just the way to distract you from that." DIO said, turning on the radio.
The music shifted from station to station. Every time a song would start, DIO would go to the next station after a bit.
As Joseph drove, he realized DIO was spelling something with the first letters of each word he would stop on. "...Are you seriously spelling 'kill' out with the radio?" Joseph said, groaning as he looked over at the radio. "That's so cliche."
DIO only laughed.
"It certainly distracted you enough for me to do this."
Joseph looked at the wheel again and saw that Hermit Purple was wrapped around it. Before he could react, the wheel was pulled to the left and the car swerved off the road. He pulled himself over Shizuka's sleeping body to try and shield her as the car rolled over. His head bashed against the wheel and everything went black.
