Sinful Desires – Chapter 5

Soul Devourer

====X====X====

Eon was simply spying on the Church, where some of the strongest exorcists were having a meeting about the Red Dragon Emperor.

He was happy that William had got hold of such information. The Red Dragon had stolen Durandal of all things and was now considered an enemy of the Church.

This coupled with the fact that he was somewhere in England meant that they had a chance to recruit someone fairly strong into their group.

The meeting was going no different than most meeting do, but soon enough that changed.

Out of absolutely nowhere a teen with weird eyes and hair stomped into the room, one of William's hotel guest if he remembered right, and startled all of the exorcists. Well, not only the exorcists, but Eon wasn't one to admit that he was surprised.

There was a lot of awkward silence between the teen and the group of exorcists, and it got boring really fast.

Then Eon almost made a spit take even though he wasn't even able to drink.

William's guest was the Red Dragon Emperor. How convenient.

And the best part, he didn't know who Ddraig was… wait, how the fuck didn't he know who Ddraig was?

But then, before Eon could witness what would happen next, he lost connection with the tiny camera as extreme amounts of magical energy accumulated inside of the church and the building disappeared, leaving behind an illusion.

Eon immediately made the call.

==X==X==

Issei sucked at sensing.

Now hear me out.

He was a god when it came to the Soul and all its ins and outs, but sensing magic, oh no no no, he had no sort of talent in that branch.

Even the exorcists notice the sudden burst of demonic energy and went into a defensive formation trying to locate the point of origin.

But before they could figure anything out, they were teleported, and that Issei noticed.

He didn't notice it thanks to the magic energy, but because all the human Souls wandering the streets suddenly went dark. At first, he thought that something close to the apocalypse just happened in all of England except the Church he was in, but the next moment a lot of very familiar signatures came into the very edge of his sensing area.

Deadzone demons, hell yeah.

Wait a second, Deadzone? Was he teleported to the Deadzone? How the fuck did a Church get transported to the Deadzone?

The answer he once again sensed.

A bunch of strong devil Souls three especially powerful ones and one hell of a Dragon Soul were right outside the Church.

It still surprised him that they were able to teleport an entire Church like that, but he didn't questioned it too much.

Then the roof exploded.

He immediately got into the [Scale Mail] or how he liked to call it [Blood Drake Form]. Looking up through the whole he met eye to eye with a gigantic blue western Dragon.

The beast stood at least 15 meters heigh and was looking directly down at him. It was standing on all fours with its wings wide open, and its teeth exposed, clear signs of anger. The pupils were thin slit encircled by blue Irises.

The monster was completely focused on him and him alone, waves of utter killing intent coming off of it. The hatred in its eyes piercing through him.

The next moment he was forced to dodge an enormous blue flame coming from the Dragon's mouth.

He launched himself towards the monster aiming to get a good hit on it.

What he handed accounted for, was for the Dragon to react to his assault and launch him into a cliff with a paw strike before he could counter it.

Climbing out of the crater he created by impacting the cliff he immediately activated the stolen Sacred Gear that he took from that one devil in the warehouse.

At first, he was confused. His mind couldn't comprehend how someone was faster than he was. His main focus in training had always been being faster than the enemy at all costs, avoiding taking any damage at all and finishing the fight as quickly as possible. But just now he had been introduced by someone against whom his training was completely and utterly useless.

You can't beat quicker opponents when you're fighting style is all about being the fastest.

Then it hit him.

He was forgetting something. Of course he could outpace the Dragon, but not with most of his strength sealed. The seals should have annoyed him more, but due to his complete change in lifestyle he didn't really notice that he still had them and with those active, he had no chance in beating the beast.

So he decided to-

Wait since when was the Dragon in front of him?

Once again Issei flew through the air, but this time he halted himself midair before he could slam into yet another wall.

Now slightly annoyed he spoke.

"You want a fight? I'll give you a fight!"

Even with the distance between them the Dragon seemed to have caught his words and looked at him with interest clearly visible in the monster's eyes.

A sound that resembled glass splintering into thousands of pieces resonated through the Deadzone, a silence following shortly after.

All attention went towards him and he saw not only the blue Dragon, but also a bunch of devils attacking the exorcists with three of them watching the battle unfold from above.

All had stopped moving, all had turned to him.

A wave of power in form of a shockwave came off of Issei, kicking up dust and creating a small breeze.

A heartbeat like sound echoed through the air. With each deep beat Issei's body twitched and seemingly grew in size little by little.

The blood red color of the [Scale Mail] seemingly retracted itself into the crystals of the armor, being replaced by a dark ashy grey. The crystals that were tacking in all the color turned red and the only green remaining on the armor were the brightly glowing eyes.

Grey vein like threats started growing out of plates of armor and started connecting with one another, stretching the armor, and leaving no place between the plates.

They looked like muscle fiber.

An unnatural snapping sound accompanied the next beat as Issei's neck stretched out to an inhuman length. His head reshaping, as the vizier split open revealing a mouth with three rows of deadly sharp teeth.

Another beat and two enormous wings sprout out from his back. Each double his current size and considering that his current size was five times greater than his normal size, they were truly massive. Like the rest of his body, they were covered by the plates of the now grey [Scale Mail], but the membrane seemed to be made out of thick leatherlike skin.

With yet another heartbeat the metallic tail between his shoulder plates disintegrated into nothing more than dust and slightly thicker and way longer counterpart appeared where his spine ended. It was triple his body length and had a sharp end that resembled a katana.

With the last beat a ton of red veins appeared on his skin/armor starting from the red crystal on his chest and traveling in a wave like fashion over his entire body, before disappearing.

He let lose an earthshattering roar that literally shattered the earth under him creating a crater from the sheer pressure of the sudden winds. The Church miraculously wasn't destroyed by the powerful winds, but some of the warriors inside the building didn't hold on quite as well.

The Dragon and the three devils flying over the Church were the only once seemingly unaffected, but while the devils were slightly fighting to hold themselves put, the Dragon took the full force to the face without as much as flinching.

Rather confusion was clearly written all over its face, as it didn't recognize this form of the [Booster Gear] and trust me, this Dragon had seen the [Booster Gear] on multiple occasions with plenty of different hosts. But that wasn't the only strange thing about this… Dragon? Yeah, let's go with Dragon. The other thing was that the Dragon felt like Ddraig, yet it clearly wasn't Ddraig. It was like you took an action figure and colored it differently. You would still be able to recognize it for what it is, but you would clearly see the difference from the original.

Issei couldn't care less about the other Dragon's thoughts, as bloodlust and adrenaline flooded through his veins, demanding for him to use this newly unleashed power of his and so he did.

With one beat of his wings he was rocketing towards his opponent.

The Dragon, still in it's trance like state, wasn't prepared for the attack and could do nothing more than cover itself with its wings, which were a lot smaller in proportion to its body when compared to Issei.

Issei rammed into the Dragon full force and managed to get it grounded. Still having the momentum he kept pressing the Dragon onto the ground while flying full force, attempting to puncture the Dragon's skin through the friction between its back and the ground.

At first, the Dragon could do nothing more than endure the attack, but after a few moments of humiliation it managed to get its back legs up onto Issei's stomach and with one swift motion kicked him off.

Issei immediately retorted by firing a ball of bright red fire directly at the blue Dragon and instead of stopping himself he let the momentum of the kick carry him further away, so that the Dragon couldn't immediately follow up with another attack.

The downed Dragon got up in time to dodge the incoming ball of flames and started flying towards Issei who was still drifting away.

The Dragon unleashed its blue flames and shot them towards the still flying Issei, who copied the move with his own red flames.

When the two beams collided, the red one immediately proved itself dominant by bursting straight through the blue one, not slowing down and breaking the blue one apart. But the blue flames didn't vanish from the air. They still flew towards issei, but as thousands of tiny beams, instead of a massive one. Due to being torn apart the blue flames lost most of their speed and the Dragon decided to stop the attack in favor of dodging the red beam of fire.

Issei didn't waste any time and redirected the beam once again at the Dragon, but like before it dodged before the flames could harm it, but Issei wouldn't simply give up.

Thankfully for him he noticed that the blue flames were still flying towards him and shot them down with his fire before they could reach him, this allowed the Dragon to get closer to Issei who dismissed the beam as he realized that it hadn't done him any good until now.

With a flap of his wings he launched himself towards the Dragon both arms readied to attack it.

An aura like energy appeared around the Dragon and Issei noticed that it was preparing to go all out on him, so he did something similar, pulling from his currently accessible energy to create himself his own aura of power.

The battle that had resumed in the Church was once again halted when the two Dragons met each other.

A shockwave pushed those back who hadn't readied themselves for it and only those who had pierced the ground with their blades remained unmoving.

But before the winds could still again, yet another shockwave came upon them, as the Dragons once more met in close combat.

Looking up into the sky, Vasco's eyes widened.

The greyish clouds that had covered the entire sky were cleared out above the Dragons battle and allowed the warriors to gaze up onto the celling of the Underworld.

The Dragons blurred into and out of existence every few seconds. Sometimes creating visible shockwaves other times a beam of red fire could be seen in the sky or a rain of blue flames.

He was used to seeing powerful beings fight, heavens, he even fought powerful beings, such as Kokabiel, back in his prime, but nothing he had ever seen came close to this.

Maybe the battles between the two heavenly Dragons looked like this. He didn't know.

What he did know is that he didn't stand a chance against either of the Dragons. Which put him in a very bad position. If the blue one were the win, the devils would receive assistance from the Dragon, making it impossible for the exorcists to win. If the Red… Grey? Dragon Emperor would win they would have no chance getting Durandal back, because they would be in his dept.

While the old exorcist was having one of his long rides on one of his trains of thought, the three devils above him were feeling different emotions swelling up in them.

Katerea was pissed. She had the one who managed to get Tiamat, the Chaos Karma Dragon who was currently fighting the Red Dragon Emperor, to help them eliminate the exorcists and for that they would assist her in finding the Red Dragon Emperor. Luck was with them and the guy literally showed up inside the Church that they teleported.

But once Tiamat recognized him, she was set on killing him before any of the exorcists and ignored anything the leaders of the Old Satan Faction said to her.

What made the situation even worse was the fact that the Red Dragon Emperor suddenly went into his final form or something and was actually able to hold his own against the Dragon Queen.

But the worst part was that the exorcists were winning against their underlings. By now she would have already jumped in, but due to the teleportation spell all three descendants of the Satans had exhausted their magical power.

It wasn't easy to teleport a place of holy power with a bunch of people in it to another realm with devil magic.

Creuserey was furious. Dragons were disgusting creatures that should be plagued from the faces of all realms. Working with one was something he would never do on his own accord, but after Katerea literally threw the evidence of why they needed the Dragon into his face, he begrudgingly accepted the cooperation.

He would kill the Dragon once they ruled all the realms.

And then Lady Luck kicked him straight in the balls.

Another of those disgraceful creatures showed up and the Dragon on their side completely lost it when she saw him, immediately engaging in combat, not allowing Creuserey to show his superiority to the exorcist.

And then his loyal servants failed him, by slowly losing the battle against the exorcists and while he normally could easily turn the tables, Creuserey wasn't the one to get his hands dirty for such a simple task and he didn't want to reveal how weak he currently was, due to the exhaustion of his magical reserves, which was the cost for teleporting all of the idiots onto the battlefield.

Shalba was concerned. Not for his soldiers that were losing the battle or for the power the Red Dragon Emperor was displaying. It was concern over himself, as he questioned his ability to judge soldiers.

The soldiers currently on the field were those he had personally chosen worthy to follow him and they were getting curve stomped by a bunch of humans with magical swords.

Instead of anger at the situation he was angry at himself for failing to chose worthy warriors. It was Shalba's only redeeming quality, he blamed himself for a lot more stuff than he should. The two other leaders, in contrast, never ever expected to take the blame for a situation, always faulting somebody or something else for messes they made.

But that was literally the best quality Shalba had.

He was still arrogant like his fellow leaders and his goals were also borderline insane. Logic also wasn't one of his strong points, but manipulation was. He also didn't blame himself for things like hurting someone, of such things he was proud, he mostly blamed himself for recruiting people who failed their tasks, sometimes he blamed himself for not doing some tasks by himself, but his pride and arrogance stopped him from doing so.

And now he was not only blaming himself for choosing soldiers that couldn't beat mere humans and for trusting Katerea about Tiamat helping them defeat the pesky exorcists.

He should have seen that the Dragon would rather do its own thing instead of cooperating with them. The only Dragon he saw worthy of anything was the Ouroboros. And only because she gave him power and was easy to manipulate.

Oh, why had he used so much magic power for the teleportation spell? Why hadn't he put some to the side for this battle that he knew would be hard? Had he really expected to easily beat the strongest of their enemies troups by just sending in some of their troops? Why hadn't he gotten stronger soldiers to fight this battle? Why had he trusted Tiamat to do her job? Oh the regret, it was unbearable.

A roar of pain came from the Dragons.

The attention of all devils and exorcist was turned towards the battlefield of both beasts.

There they saw that both were still in the air but standing still. The grey ones hand had impaled the blue one right through the stomach. But that wasn't the thing that shocked most of them. What shocked most of them, was the aura surrounding said hand.

It was Dragon Slayer Magic.

Dragon Slayer Magic is a very hard and very unique type of magic. It was extremely weak overall, but when used against Dragons the damaged it could do was enormous, like its name suggested.

Many pantheons had developed their own kind of Dragon Slayer Magic to defend against the powerful monsters, but all of them were based on a concept developed by the angels and the biblical God. His hatred towards the beasts had led to them taking action against them way earlier than most other factions.

They gave away their secret on how it worked quite early, seeing as it would cause Dragons to be eliminated much faster.

Then they developed Angelic Dragon Slayer Magic as their own subtype, mainly using holy magic to power the attacks.

Devils soon followed doing the same only with demonic magic and fallen just replaced holy with unholy magic, which was basically the same as holy magic only that it had an affinity to the seven sins instead of the virtues.

It spread like wildfire and soon every mayor faction, with exception of the Dragonic Faction, had their unique branch of Dragon Slayer Magic.

But after a while Dragons began developing defenses against said magic, for obvious reasons, and started fighting back. But by then it was to late and their faction fell leaving only few mayor Dragons alive that were either immune against the magic from the get-go, got under the Ouroboros' wing or aligned with a faction while promising to stay loyal.

Tiamat was to her own dismay one who got under the Ouroboros' wing and in fact not immune against the Dragon Slayer Magic. She had experience with it and witnessed it being used on multiple of her kind to kill them.

But while she had been hit multiple times by different branches of Dragon Slayer Magic, this attack hit different.

Dragons couldn't use Dragon Slayer Magic for the simple reason that they would damage themselves and make themselves vulnerable if they did. So seeing someone with a powerful Dragon attached to their Soul doing so was something new to her, due to the fact that the wielders of Dragon Sacred Gears became partly Dragon, if even only a little, due to a Dragon literally being bound to their Soul since before birth.

But that wasn't the only uncanny thing.

There was also the way the attack hit her, not in: how much power did he use, how fast did he do it, how much pressure did he put on it, but in: what did he hit. And here also not in: did he hit the heart or the lungs, but in: did he hit the body, or the Soul?

He hit both and then some.

When the hand had pierced her, it wasn't due to him suddenly being faster than before, it was because she had seen Dragon Slayer Magic being used by the host of Ddraig, which made her brain pause for long enough for him to strike her.

When the armored hand impaled her, she didn't just feel her skin being ripped open, her flesh being torn apart and her spine being snapped in two, she also felt a painful shiver over her whole body as her very core was scrapped by the attack.

But that wasn't all.

Nausea came upon her not a moment later, due to her life force being put off balanced and a powerful headache assaulted her, as her consciousness was being pierced by the attack.

Her eyes forced themselves shut as they suddenly felt too heavy for her to hold open and her wings gave up, letting her fall into free fall without even noticing that the Red Dragon Emperor had already retracted his hand from her stomach.

Her consciousness faded as her body went into overdrive to heal the wounds that were inflicted on her.

The devils watched in horror as their powerful ally was defeated. The exorcist were also scared by the display of power, but some felt hope surging up in their body.

Then the massive Dragon turned to all of them and in a blur of speed suddenly stood in front of them, creating yet another shockwave that pushed some of them back.

He looked down to the person he had directly halted in front of, Vasco, this time towering over him, due to his massive increase in body mass.

Now being in direct proximity of the beast Vasco just realized how frightening it looked. The beast was around 20 meters in height standing up, its legs alone as massive as Vasco himself. It would have reminded him of [Juggernaut Drive] if he hadn't pushed those memories back. The skin thicker than any metal, massive scales all over the body protecting every centimeter from attacks. Red Gems geometrically aligned on his body, giving of a faint yet powerful glow. Wings, leathery yet seemingly unpierceable. The head was clearly dragonic, sitting on a long neck, it had a spear like shape, the snout being pointy enough to stab someone with it. The mouth hung open revealing its three rows of daggerlike teeth and its forked tongue, that was hiding behind them. The pupilless eyes glowing uncanny in a poisonous green, energy seemingly radiating off them, piercing through Vasco's body, starring straight into his Soul.

The thoughts he had when Xenovia reported about the Red Dragon Emperor came back to him. Not once had he predicted something like this to happen. He couldn't explain anything the Red Dragon Emperor had done nor was to anyone, not even himself.

It just didn't make sense.

How could somebody so young beat one of the strongest Dragons to ever exist and act as if it was nothing right afterwards.

It just didn't work.

A huff came from the Dragon, prompting smoke to come out of his nostrils. Vasco's attention was immediately redirected at him. It took a few moments, but the old exorcist quickly caught up on the Dragons intentions.

It was still searching for Irina.

Normally Vasco would do all in his power to stop the beast from getting even remotely close to the young exorcist, but having seen the cheer power this one had, made him rethink his decision.

The Dragon would probably find Irina one way or another and if he would leave the Dragon to search on his own, he couldn't ensure that it wouldn't cause death and destruction. Heavens, he didn't even know if the beast would leave him and the other exorcists alive if they refused to help.

So he did what was most beneficial for both his comrades and the church overall.

"Get us out of here and I will arrange it."

The massive monster flicked its gigantic hand and an extremely powerful shockwave, that was strong enough to probably level an entire town on its own.

The exorcist turned around in fear that the beast had killed his fellow warriors for some reason. To his surprise the exorcists were unaffected by the attack.

The devils on the other hand…

Not even the three leaders could stop themselves from being launched through the wall of the Church.

With the devils outside of the building a giant transparent grey dome covered the Church.

Vasco's eyes almost felt out as he saw the building rebuilding itself.

It was like a video being played in reverse. Stones on the ground sucked up dust and pieces of themselves that had splintered off when impacting the floor, only to launch up at amazing speeds, slowing down midflight and slowly reforming with the ceiling and walls. The most spectacular part was when the wall that the Dragon had send the devils through repaired as it first exploded in reverse, from the devils flying through it, only to end up curved, from the shockwave that hit it before the devils did, and then straightening itself.

Vasco felt a weird tingly shiver go through his body and saw that his wounds were being closed by regeneration magic, he looked to his fellow exorcists, who were also receiving the same treatment and almost cried out in sorrow when he saw three of his comrades laying on the ground with cold eyes and unmoving, unaffected by the regeneration spell.

Then the Church was gone from the Deadzone.

Katerea was the first devil to move, going for the direction where Tiamat had fallen to. It wasn't like she liked the Dragons, but she would rather not piss off the Ouroboros by letting one of its subjects to die.

There was also the fact that Creuserey was about to throw a tantrum and she couldn't stand being around him when he was raging around, scolding their warriors for failing an impossible mission.

She didn't disagree with him, not at all, she too was disappointed about the devils failing, but how he confronted them about it was just childish.

In contrast to Katerea's train of thought, Creuserey seemed to be completely calm.

Then he walked up to the nearest devil and started beating the shit out of him, striking fear into the hearts of his other soldiers.

To say he was furious was an understatement. He was absolutely vivid.

The plan had been simple but utterly flawless.

Teleport an entire church with important warriors of the Vatican and leave behind some illusions by using the power of the three 'True Satans'. Use Tiamat to absolutely obliterate the exorcists with the help of some devil warriors. Dance on their corpses. Send out some search troops to find the Red Dragon Emperor and inform Tiamat when found, so she gets off their asses.

But then the Red Dragon Emperor just decided to randomly show up at the church, beat the shit out of Tiamat, and rescue the exorcists, that was probably the worst possible outcome.

And the worst part was, that they were now stuck here.

Tiamat was knocked out, the three 'True Satans' were still magically exhausted, and all the warriors were drained after their long battle against the exorcists. None of them could make a teleportation circle for all of them and thus they were stuck here.

Creuserey probably increased the time they would be stuck here by beating the shit out of his soldiers, exhausting himself and leaving the soldiers to not just regenerate their magic reserves.

All the while Shalba was just staring into nothingness, unfocused and depressed. You could see regret and sadness clearly present in his eyes, but none of the soldiers commented on it, either scared that they would annoy him or being distracted by Creuserey being Creuserey.

As Shalba looked into the distance, questioning his existence, you could practically feel the calming yet slightly depressing piano music in the background.

Another thing nobody commented about.

==X==X==

Dulio was confused.

Very confused.

There was a giant Dragon in a church.

Ok let him rephrase that.

There was a giant Dragon in a church, nobody was hurt, and nothing was destroyed.

Another try.

There was a giant Dragon in a church, who saved them from a group of devils and repaired the church after a battle against said devils.

In layman's terms, that Dragon behaved like a good guy, Dragons aren't good guys.

At least that was what everyone he knew had told him as far back as he could remember. It wasn't a touchy subject, it was something every exorcist, priest, follower of god, etc. accepted and said out lout: Dragons are evil.

When it came to that topic there was no subtility, only pure bluntness.

Dragons were evil.

He had been warned hundreds of times that they were voracious beasts, that kill for nothing more than sadistic enjoyment. Monsters that caused mayhem for nothing more than entertainment. Fiends that were the cause for most of the problems on the planet.

Dragons were evil.

From mass murders to climate change, if it could have been a Dragon, it probably was a Dragon, so said the churches moto.

Dragons were evil.

And then there was the Red Dragon Emperor.

Dragons were evil.

The one who healed them.

Dragons were… evil.

The one who helped them.

Dragons were evil?

The one who saved them.

Dragons were… were…

Were Dragons evil?

Dulio's world came crashing down.

A/N: Aaand Chapter 5 is here.

Hope you like the epic battle between the two Dragons. I actually put effort into that.

Anyway, I will now be working on another very different DXD fanfic that hasn't been published by me yet and goes by the name [Second Coming]. If yar interested in reading more of my shit, go to my profile and scroll through WFR or follow me and wait for [Second Coming].

Oh yeah and fuck you to whoever put WFR into the Abandoned Community tab, I did NOT abandon WFR I'm currently just working on different shit. After making the first (or first two) Chapters of [Second Coming] I'm going to refocus on WFR for a bit and push the story forward. You can't tell me that you truly believe its over with so many unsolved conflicts and reveals to be uncovered. My stories start of slow and go on slow, but I personally think the wait can be worth it.

I am also working on two other fanfics in the background one BNHA/MHA (My Hero Academia) and one HTTYD (How to train your Dragon) one. But do NOT expect them anytime soon. Except if you push me to focus on them, but with the small fanbase I have I hardly think there will be enough people to request such a change in my schedule for me to actually do it (please don't prove me wrong).

Have fun scrolling aimlessly through this website, even though you should be doing something different.

Ah yes, and don't forget to review, I take all and any criticism, so go as hard as you fucking can on the reviews that you are gonna throw in my face.

Hope I don't die until I write a new one, bye.
