Chapter 5: Darkness Rising Part 3
Leo Fowler and Agent Fowler's House
Leo was on his phone, listening to Melissa's words. She was worried about him a bit, not seeing him after school.
"Don't worry, Melissa, I'm fine." Leo started to say on the phone. "My dad just needed me to do a few things in the house, that's all."
"Sorry, Leo." Melissa apologized on the phone. "You know how I worry about you."
"Yeah... I know. I'll see you later."
"Okay, bye Leo."
"Bye." Leo ended the call, putting the phone in his pocket. He knew that one of Sierra and Vince's friends would worry about him. He kind of told her about him being an agent, but she laughed. She believed that his father was an agent for the government, but not him. Anyway, he couldn't tell her about the Autobots' existence, knowing that it's supposed to be a secret and that she wouldn't believe him.
'Well, better get myself ready to head to the base.' Leo said in his mind. He got himself dressed, brushed his teeth, and headed downstairs to look for his dad. However, after a few minutes looking for his dad, he decided to head to the garage where Blue Beetle was.
Garage inside of the house
Blue Jacket was still in his 2012 Nissan GT-R R35 vehicle mode, finished sleeping and waiting for Leo Fowler to show up. Things went from good to bad, from bad to worse, from worse to okay. He lost a few friends along the way in the war back on Cybertron, but losing Cliffjumper affected him a lot, but not as much as Arcee. At least he was trying to keep on fighting for the Autobots. He promised himself to keep on going after seeing Firewing die by the hands of the Decepticons.
"Hmmm... Where is he?" Blue Jacket said out loud. Before he could even honk, Leo opened the door that led to the garage and pressed the button, which open the huge metal garage door.
"Hey, Blue Jacket. Sorry it took so long." Leo said. "Just looking for my dad. Turns out, he's not here."
"Well, Agent Fowler is a busy man." Blue Jacket said. "Anyway, it's time to roll out."
"Sure thing." Leo said, getting in the vehicle. Once the boy got inside, Blue Beetle got out of the house and drove towards the road.
Autobot Base
Ratchet walked over to a Cybertronian microscope. "Thank goodness for peace and quiet." He looked into the microscope. "House guests can be such a bother.
Suddenly he heard the sound of metal falling onto the floor "What?" He mumbled and looked around before looking back into the microscope, then he heard the sound of metallic tapping, he looked around again "Optimus?"
He turned around and gasps as he sees his manipulator arm approaching him and jumps up "By the AllSpark," he said as he sees his manipulator arm rushing to attack him.
He evaded the manipulator arm, which landed on the ledge where the microscope was, and jumps onto a tray that Ratchet was holding to shield himself from his own manipulator arm which flew above him.
The manipulator arm dropped back down to the ledge, Ratchet grabbed a metal cylinder shaped stick to fight off his Manipulator arm, as he tries to attack the manipulator arm but the arm evaded his attack and sliced the microscope in half, "I needed that!" He yelled at his manipulator arm.
The manipulator arm dropped onto the floor and jumped into the air, but just as it was about to touch Ratchet, it got hit by blaster fire from Optimus.
The manipulator arm was about to jump again, when Optimus crushed the arm with his foot. "And stay broken," Ratchet told the broken manipulator arm. "Now what could have cause that?"
"I have grave suspicion, Ratchet..." Optimus suggested as he deactivated his battle mask. "Dark Energon..."
Elsewhere
Leo Fowler was listening to Jazz music, while Blue Jacket was doing donuts. Leo had to admit, this was cool!
"This is cool!" Leo yelled in excitement.
"Thanks!" Blue said before stop doing donuts and thinking of what Leo was listening to. "What are you listening to?"
"Just some Jazz music."
"You know, there was an autobot who was named after your music."
"Cool." Leo said before asking more questions. "Was there an autobot that was named for running over the moon?"
"Well, she didn't run over the moon, but she was the best at sniping the decepticons at far distance."
Blue Jacket and Leo Fowler kept talking about Autobots being named for, while heading to the base.
Back at the Autobot base, Optimus Prime put the broken tool inside the container while talking to Ratchet.
"If the residue Arcee found on Cliffjumper brought your broken equipment to life... It would stand to reason that the very same substance brought Cliffjumper back from the dead." Optimus said as he closed the container.
The medic remembered about Cliffjumper's life signal went back online yesterday... But there was something else.
"Well... That would account for his life signal inexplicably coming back online, but Dark Energon? It's so scarce as to be virtually non existent. What would it be doing here on Earth?" Ratchet asked.
"It was transported here... by Megatron."
"For what purpose?"
"To conquer this planet by raising an army of the undead."
The medic was shocked for a few seconds until he started to chuckle. "Well, Megatron will need to break quite a few toaster ovens. I mean where, on this world, would he find that many cybertronian dead?
Before the Prime could answer, when they heard the sound of engines come through the base, telling them that the rest of the autobots were at base with their human allies.
Jack got off Arcee, while Raf exited Bumblebee, Leo exited Blue Jacket, and Miko exited Bulkhead, all three humans were laughing as they got off of their guardians.
"That was awesome!" Jack told Arcee.
"Can we go again?" Raf asked Bumblebee.
"So cool!" Leo said to Blue Jacket.
"Sweet!" Miko told bulkhead.
Bulkhead felt a grumble sound with in his torso, opened it and found a guitar and handed it to Miko.
"Sorry." Miko apologized, "Must have left that in the backseat."
"Autobots, Prepare to…" Optimus said, looking at the autobots and the human kids.
"Roll out?" Arcee asked.
"Remain here." he told her and looked towards Ratchet, "Ratchet, you'll come with me. Arcee, we'll be outside communications range for some time, so I'm putting you in charge."
Miko looked at her guardian. "Dude, you're biggest. You should be the boss."
"Um, he never picks me." Bulkhead told her.
"Optimus, with all due respect, playing bodyguard is one thing. Babysitting's another." Arcee said telling him that she didn't want to be in charge while he was outside of their communications range, while Jack groaned and walked the other way. "Besides, Ratchet hasn't been in the field since the war."
Ratchet overhead this comment "My pistons may be rusty but my hearing is sharp as ever," he retorted.
"For the moment, it's only reconnaissance." Optimus explained.
"Then, why do I hear an edge in your voice?" She asked him.
"Arcee, much has changed in the last 24 hours, and we all need to adapt," he explained before turning to Ratchet "Ratchet, Bridge us out."
Ratchet activated the Ground Bridge and walked through the portal which turned off as soon as both of them disappeared into the portal. After this, the four kids looked at Arcee and the other autobots.
"Okay, Chief, so, uh what's on the activities list?" Jack asked Arcee. Leo, Raf, and Miko also looked at the two-wheeler for her answer. However, Arcee, not wanting to 'babysit', had another idea.
"I'm going on patrol," Arcee announced, walking towards the hallway but Bulkhead stopped her.
"But Optimus told us to stay." Bulkhead reminded her.
"And he put you in charge of the base. You can't just leave." Blue Jacket said, agreeing with Bulkhead.
"When you're in charge, you can call the shots." She told them, before she looked at Blue Jacket and Bumblebee. "Bee, Blue, with me."
Blue Jacket looked at Leo, before walking to Arcee. "You got it... Commander."
Bumblebee looked at Raf before he buzzed in complain.
"Alright..." Bee beeped out, walking towards Arcee and Blue Jacket.
"Bulkhead, you're in charge," Arcee said as she, Blue Jacket and Bumblebee left to go on patrol.
"So, uh, what's on the activities list?" Bulkhead then asked the humans.
A loud feedback whining sound went through the room. "How about Band practice?" Miko asked.
"But we're not a band," Raf said, covering his ears from the loud noise.
"Why so anti-social?" Miko asked Raf, chuckling "Come on, Raf. You play anything?"
"Um...Keyboard?" He asked showing her his laptop.
"Laptop and samples. Good." Miko said before turning to Leo. "Leo?"
"Well... I can beat-box." Leo said, getting a microphone from his backpack.
"Hmm, beat-boxer, cool." Miko then looked at the 16-year old boy. "Jack?"
I sometimes mess around on the harmonica," Jack said.
Miko approached him "Do I look like I do country? Just cover yourself in fake blood and jump around screaming."
"Uhh…" Jack said as Miko walks away.
Miko looked at her guardian "Bulkhead, percussion. We'll go for a big industrial sound. D.I.Y, we're a band. You just got to learn the songs. This one's a ballad, 'My fist, your fist.'" She suddenly started playing her guitar, it was so loud that Jack, Raf, and Leo had to cover their ears and Bulkhead covered his auditory sensors.
Suddenly, the Proximity sensor started blaring. The green bot knew what that means and tries to stop the 15-year old girl to stop playing with her guitar. "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!"
"Come on. You can't handle raw power?" She asked her guardian.
"Proximity sensor!" He explained. "Quick hide!"
The three kids hid behind Bulkhead, except for Leo.
"Hey! Why doesn't he have to hide?!" Miko asked, who wasn't thrilled for a moment about that.
Before Bulkhead could say something, Leo answered her question. "Because my dad's coming here, and I'm his son... I'm also an agent.
Miko laughed quietly, not believing what he said. That was when Agent Fowler showed up, not happy right now.
"Prime!"
"Agent Fowler, uh, he's not here. Nobody's here… except me and your son, of course," Bulkhead said the half-truth, while chuckling a little.
"Yep, just me and Bulkhead, all alone in this base, dad." Leo said.
Jack, Raf, and Miko couldn't believe that Leo was telling the truth about the agent being his dad.
"Well, where did he go?" Fowler asked, "Wait. Don't tell me. He's out pancaking a mini mall. Now I don't know what language you bots speak on your planet, but Prime promised he would handle the Decepticons, and blowing a crater in the middle of Nebraska is not what the word 'handle' mean in English. So you tell Prime…" suddenly he notices Miko' amplifier moving, "Since when you bots electric?"
Both Leo and Bulkhead looked at each other in fear before letting Jack, Raf, and Miko reveal themselves to the special agent.
"Hey. How you doing?" Jack said to the special agent, who was shocked to see him, along with the other two kids with him.
"Contact with civilians!" Fowler said "Team Prime has really gone off book this time. Wait, don't tell me. You're running a daycare center."
"Umm.. Okay." Bulkhead said, unsure of what to say next.
Yeah, we're interns," Jack said.
"Student interns," Raf added.
"Uh, earning extra credits in auto shop," Jack said.
"Robotics," Miko said at the same time.
Fowler then walked down the stairs and looked at his son. "Did you know about this?"
"Uh, no!" Leo lied. "Dad, look, I only been in the base for a day and a half, I don't even know the two-wheeler's name!" His dad then gave him a look which said 'I know you're lying'. That was when Leo said the truth. "Okay, but technically, I didn't know they were here until you left the base yesterday!"
Fowler thought about yesterday, now realizing that the bots were hiding the kids, while he introduced them to his son. He then went towards the three kids.
"Okay, Leo, you can stay. However, I'm taking all three of your friends into federal custody. It's for their own protection."
That was when Bulkhead got between them.
"We're protecting them!"
"Is that so?" Fowler asked as he walks over to a phone, "Well, maybe you could explain that to my superiors at the Pentagon." He grabbed the phone.
"Don't use that phone." Bulkhead advised before placing his finger into the phone booth. "It's… out of order."
Fowler let go of the phone and looked at his son. "Come on, son. You're coming with me!" Fowler said, seeing his son following him before he looked back at Bulkhead. "This isn't over, two-ton! Not by a long shot!" He walked back up the stairs and exited the base using the elevator.
Top of the Autobot Base
Once Leo and his dad out of the base and got inside of the flying vehicle, Fowler began to fly a Huey helicopter off of the helipad of the Autobots base and flew away and activated a message to one of his superiors "Sir, Agent Fowler. We have a situation. I'm en route from the Autobot base. I'll brief you in person."
Time Skip
"Dad, look, I get you're mad at me for not telling you that the Bots had the kids in the base, but they had no choice!" Leo said, trying to reason his father.
"Look, Leo, even if the kids saw the fight like you did, they shouldn't be in the base. What if they tell someone?!" Fowler said to his son.
"Even if they did, do you really think the people will believe them, dad?"
Before Fowler could answer, something attacked the helicopter.
"Hey big bird, I'm flying here," he said. "What in Uncle Sam's beard?" He said as the mini-con appeared in front of the helicopter.
"Oh, shoot!" Leo said, as he also saw the mini-con.
Laserbeak tried to clip the helicopter's tail, which Fowler tilted the helicopter up to avoid the attack, "First the freeways aren't safe, now air travel?" He asked, soon Laserbeak flew at the helicopter scratching the paint, causing the helicopter to tilt a bit. He soon reached a dead end as a rock wall was in front of the helicopter and he flew upwards.
"You better do something, dad!" Leo said, getting a little afraid.
Laserbeak followed him and soon Laserbeak was in front of the Fowlers, "You want to dance, 'Con?" Fowler asked "I'll lead." He pressed a button on the control stick and he began shooting at Laserbeak with bullets from the helicopter which wasn't even denting him. But soon the gun started to make a clicking sound as it was out of ammo and Laserbeak flew upwards and clipped the helicopter's tail.
"Never need an Autobot around when you actually need one," Fowler said as the helicopter's alarm started blaring as the helicopter began to spin out of control as it began to fall.
As he tried to gain control of the helicopter, Laserbeak broke the window and grabbed him, but not before pressing a button to send an SOS to the Autobot base, his son grabbing and holding his leg, and soon the helicopter fell to the ground and blew up.
Leo looked at his dad, with a worried look on his face. "Dad, where is he taking us?" Leo asked.
"Probably taking us to their ship." Fowler said, answering his son's question.
'I hope Blue Jacket and the others come and recuse us.' Leo thought to himself.
Time Nemesis (Time Skip)
Once the Fowlers got to the ship, they were getting carried by the decepticon soldiers. Leo didn't like the look of this place, as he started to shake in fear. They were finally taking to the interrogation room, where they saw the seeker, who was waiting for them.
"Welcome… Agent Fowler." Starscream said, greeting him. Once he turned around, he saw his son. "Ah, this must be your son... Nice to meet you."
Leo gulped a bit, looking at the seeker. "H-hi." Leo said, stuttering.
Fowler brushes the dust off his coat, "You treat all your guests this nice?" Fowler asked him.
Starscream chuckles as he said that, "Any friend of the Autobots…"
"Autobot? That one of them coin-operated, wash-my-own-car places?" Fowler asked, pretending to not know what he was talking about. Leo gave his dad a 'What the heck are you doing?!' look before looking back at the seeker.
"So that's how it's going to be, hmm?" Starscream asked the human, "Apparently, no one has told you I have no appreciation for Human humor. Make our guests comfortable."
The vehicons got close to the two humans.
Jasper Desert
Arcee, Blue Jacket and Bumblebee we're driving down a road when Bulkhead contacted them, "Arcee, Blue Jacket, Bumblebee, do any of you read me?"
"Loud and clear, Bulkhead" Arcee said.
"I have a situation." he said.
"Bulkhead, they're children, humans. Just do whatever." she added.
"Yeah, Bulk. You're the best wrecker of all time. I'm sure that babysitting can't be that hard for you." Blue Jacket said.
However, once the green bot told them what happen, the three autobots stopped on their trackers.
"You're where?! She's where?!" Arcee asked the former Wrecker.
"Fowler's captured?! Leo's kidnapped?! Blue Jacket, also asking the green bot.
Once Bulkhead told them what happen again, Blue looked at Arcee. "Contact Jack so he can bridge us back to base."
"Got it." Arcee said, agreeing Blue's advice. She then tried to contact the base. "Arcee to base, come in. Jack listen up. We need you to bridge us back. Hello?" She got no reply and sighs. "Blue Jacket, Bumblebee, metal to the pedal."
"Let's roll!" Blue Jacket said, getting a head start while Arcee and his brother followed him.
Back in the interrogation room on the Nemesis, Fowler was chained up on the left side and Leo was chained up on the right side as the decepticon soldiers surrounded Fowler and Starscream walked up to him, "Agent Fowler, I have one simple request that will save your son the pain of grieving. "He said as he puts one of his fingers under Fowler's neck, "Tell me the location of the Autobot base."
"No problem, but first I need to ask you something first," Fowler said.
"Yes? I'm listening," Starscream asked.
"I got an issue with the customer service around here," Fowler said, "Can I speak time the manager?"
Starscream growls as he heard this. "I make the decisions! I am in charge!" He turned towards a Vehicon. "Bring the prod."
The vehicon nodded as the soldier walked towards the weapons vault. Starscream smirked until Leo got his attention.
"Please, you don't have to do this! We can make a deal." Leo said, desperate to save his father's life and himself. The seeker only chuckled at the teenage human.
"I'm sorry, little one, but your father has something I need." Starscream told him. "Once I get what I want, you and your father can leave without conflict." The seeker smirked darkly at the human, who spit on his face.
"Get scrap!" Leo said after spitting on the seeker's face. However, Starscream only laughed at this pitiful threat and wrapped the spit off his face. Before he could say anything to the human, the vehicon came back with the prod. He then smirked and walked towards Leo's father.
"I ask nicely one last time, the Autobot base."
"Sure thing buddy." Fowler said, "Right after you eat my Star-Spangled shorts."
Starscream took out an Energon Prod and zapped Fowler with it, which caused him to scream in pain. "As I imagined," Starscream said, "Energon and human nervous systems don't mix."
Leo couldn't believe this was happening. First, his dad took him out of the autobot base, then they were taken to the decepticons' ship, and now, his dad was getting tortured by the seeker!
"NO!" Leo yelled! "Leave him alone!"
Starscream only looked back with a smirk on his face before turning back to the special agent. Leo then had tears coming from his eyes...
'Blue... Please... Hurry. Save us.'
Woah! Looks like Leo and his dad are at the hands of the Decepticons! Hope the Autobots come recuse them.
